Stopped by on a Monday after work and seated straight away. Have eaten here a few times but its not my favourite American eatery. My dining companion had the pepperoni pizza and I had the chicken with rice and salad. Not bad, but the seats are a bit cramped if you get a small table. Not sure Ill be back in a hurry....

Great deals on cocktails, and also very good offers for students during the week. would recommend for a young group or a quick bite.

Went here for a family dinner, extremely busy but we were seated quite quickly. I ordered scampi which was very nice and the kids meals were excellent value. Even though the place was packed the waitresses were very efficient and came back to our table a couple of times to check if everything was okay. Great value for students especially as its buy one get one free Monday to Friday, I was delighted by this and produced my student union card and got one meal free! overall nice atmosphere and great value for money but prepare to wait for a table when busy.

Ate here in December with a friend. Was packed when we arrived but that was to be expected around Christmas. Put our name down and had to wait for 45 minutes. We actually left and came back at our allotted time and still had to wait for a free table. Got seated at a tiny table just big enough for two plates. Waiters are all very friendly and the atmosphere was good. My friend got the ribs and he said they were delicious. I had a cajun chicken burger off the €14.95 menu. it was quite tasty. The service was a little slow, and although my meal was quite good value, overall it is pretty steep for the type of food on offer.

Went there about six in the evening, two kids and two adults. Very busy and put name down , waited fot half an hour. Got seated, pleasent staff and very busy, all ages. Both adult meals not good, Chicken Goujons tasteless as was my B/B Chicken just a lump of meat. Chips seemed to be the frozen variety but kids meals seemed fine. Did not bother with adult deserts prefer to remember the glorious Choclate Fudge Cake the way it was a few years ago. We would be reluctant to go back there.

I've dined here over the years and must say tonight was nothing special. Popped in and was seated on a tiny table (luckily it was just myself but if you are a sole diner, why should I get a terrible table) anywho, ordered chicken cesar salad, dressing on the side and a sparkling water. Salad arrived after about 10 minutes, nothing exciting about the presentation, the chicken was a hunk of chicken plopped ontop of the salad - really? It could have been cut up and tossed within the salad. Salad had dressing on it- oh well. After I had dined, I wasn't given a bill so just went to cue at desk. Ignored by server for about 5 minutes whilst she did other work. All in all for 15 euro for a salad and a sparkling water, I will save my money for other places. Good to go to if you just want cocktails, don't really care about the food and want to pay silly prices for what you get.

Ate here recently with my family and have to say was very disappointed. Starters were just ok, presentation was very lacking. The mains were awful, mainly burgers..tiny, burnt and tastless and not particularly cheap! There was a great atmosphere however but certainly did not make up for the quality of the food.

Ate here one night while in town and as it was getting late we were limited with options. The food was good but nothing out of the ordinary. The table are a little too close for privacy. The price was quite reasonable and the service was good. The crowd were very young(late teens/very early twenties) so there were a lot of gigglers there but all in all I enjoyed my visit.

we ate here last night. We arrived at 6.15 and we were served had our starters and main course finished by 6.50 p.m When did this restaurant become a fast food - get them in and out asap? We have eaten there throughout the years, brought our kids for a treat, met up with friends and generally always enjoyed the experience and food but after last night it will be a very long time before we ever go back again. The food is not freshly prepared - our starters were out to us within 5 mins and were only warm, not hot and definitely not tasty. We both had hamburgers, which arrived as soon as the starters were removed. The taste and flavour has just gone and we were very disappointed. We left and had our coffee elsewhere. Avoid, if you want a quick meal go to McDonalds, at least your food will be hot

I can only echo the comments of previous reviewers about the decline of Captain America's. I had not eaten here in roughly three years, so popped in last Monday for a quick meal as I was in the Grafton Street area. Despite the recent VAT reduction, their menu is still quite overpriced. Burgers were served very rapidly with a side of some rather cold and anemic chips. The burger patty itself was about an inch thick and two and a half wide, meaning it was clearly dwarfed by the accompanying bun, making it difficult and somewhat absurd to eat. The restaurant also advertises what it terms "Happy Hour" at all times, however this promotion does not deliver on its description, with pints being €4.90, which I find very misleading. At nearly €20 for a burger and a pint, there's much better value to be had elsewhere nowadays. Furthermore, the restaurant itself looks somewhat down at heel. Small touches such as using plastic ketchup bottles instead of the more traditional (and previously stocked) glass point towards cheapness. Captain America's seems to be resting on its laurels and its heretofore good reputation, and needs to up its game in order to remain competitive.

Visited here for the first time in years at lunch time today. Very worn out paintwork and shabby. lots of cool things from music industry on view but not enough to hide need for revamp. Food arrived very quickly- too quickly- a large burger in less than 8 mins so must have been sitting ready, certainly tasted so-so. Large portions and good value on the lunch specials though, if you want a quick bite to keep you going. service a little sleepy but very pleasant, we were in for an early early lunch so the place had not gotten going yet

There has been a clear and dramatic decline in standards at Captain America's in recent years. There were several problems when a large group of us visited last night: all of our cocktails were rip-offs - no discernable alcohol in our long island ice teas, alabama slammers or margueritas, which tasted like barley water. Portions were scabby and the men's toilets were bust. Women's toilets were very ropey too apparently. This place needs new owners and fast, or a 40 year old restaurant will be gone.

I hadn't been to Captain Americas for a while and last time I went I remembered as a fun experience. So one Tuesday afternoon I went with a friend for lunch. The atmosphere was how I remembered fun and vibrant. The staff were also very pleasant and friendly. I ordered the cheese burger, which arrived quite quickly but it tasted quite plain and the cheese on the burger tasted like rubber.I left quite disappointed with the value for my food and how it tarnished its reputation.

Went here with a group of friends. The restaurant was packed considering it was a Friday night, but the atmosphere was nice and lively. Service was rather slow, though the staff were very friendly. Food was ok, nothing spectacular. My friend also complained the cheese on her burger tasted like rubber. The cocktails were nice too. However, overall the restaurant is quite expensive for the quality of food you receive and so on. Wouldn't really recommend it to others.

Haven't been here is ages, so decided to try it for a change. The cocktails we had were very disappointing, not as nice as they used to be. Nachos for starter wre relly good, but the rest of the food was just OK. Pizza was a bit stodgy, burger -well a burger is a burger - a bit heavy on the mushroom sauce -a bit of a drowning really. The mexican chicken was a little overcooked and therefore very dry. Service was very good. Overall I was disappointed.

I'd been here before and loved the atmosphere during the week, so we decided to go on a Sunday afternoon, which seems like a whole different vibe. It was full of families and kids, so very noisy, which I guess if I'd thought it through I probably should have expected. It was very busy but we were able to get a table straight away. Service was prompt and the drinks were good, but the food was not as good as that served during the week. Our starter came suspiciously quickly, almost as if it was just there already done and waiting for someone to order it. I had the steak sandwich for main, which was smaller than the 6oz, dry and overcooked. The pepper sauce was thick and had a skin as if it had been there for a while. My partner sent back his Chicken Parmesan, as the chicken was clearly burned and the cheese was burned onto it. In fairness, they took it back without question, replaced it and gave us 25% off the whole bill, it's always nice when a restaurant acknowledges something not being right. All in all, I still like Captain A's, I just won't go back on a Sunday, when the kitchen seems to struggle. And I would have to agree with other reviews, they've put the prices up recently, when other restaurants are doing better food at far better value.

This place has been in business for 40 years and is still packing them in. We arrived at 6 on Bank holiday Monday. The restaurant was almost full and we were shown to a small table with 2 wooden chairs - bit of a tight squeeze. Another bigger table with more comfortable seats was vacated and before I had a chance to ask for it a waitress immediately announced that she would clear it straightaway so that we could move to it. A very nice touch! The menu is extensive. Our order of a Mexican Burger and a Mushroom burger, both with chips, was taken promptly. Both burgers were nice enough and came with a large amount of chips. The very bland mushroom sauce was thick and gloopy and not very attractive to the eye.The garnish consisted of a not very nice piece of wet lettuce. The service was very pleasant and speedy. Given that both meals cost what some restaurants in the area charge for two courses and a free drink, I think that I may be tempted to try them the next time rather than return to Captain America.

I hadn't been here for years and I have to say we both enjoyed our dining experience. The service was smiling and efficient throughout and anytime we needed a drinks refill we didn't even have to ask as it was anticipated by the server. This is something I haven't experienced in this country for a long time. I had a garlic mushroom starter which was both piping hot and tasty. For mains I had a chilli which was tasty and large in portion size. My companion opted for a double burger which he loved. We also had a few cocktails and shots. The atmosphere was buzzing. I would return here again.

Booked a table for 5 people which was just as well as the place was packed. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The kids were delighted with the food but not so the adults. The food arrived within minutes, even before the drinks so it's clearly precooked and it shows. The burgers that we got were stodgy and no better than frozen ones from the supermarket. My memory of old Captain Americas was of homemade tasty burgers. The prices too we far too high for what we got. Restaurant seems to be trading on no longer deserved reputation earned in the past. Pity.

Brought our 2 children here for dinner when shopping in town. When we arrived we were informed that we would have to wait about 40 mins. Had no problem with that as the place was visibly busy. We only waited about 25 mins before we were seated at our table. The guy who served us was extremely polite. The food was excellent even if it wasn't fine dining. We did feel however that it was a very expensive burger joint with a great atmosphere. Ideal for a family evening but pity about the cost.

I attended this establishment with 8 special needs children and 7 adults today and i am shocked at the lack of courtesy and flexibility of the manager. She was most unhelpful and very argumentive when it came to the childrens special dietary requirements however was quiet happy to make a scene and embarass not only the children, my team, other diners and her fellow colleagues. None of our requirements were outrageous i.e no chips, no coke for a particular child but an extra burger instead which she was trying to charge us extra for. We were charged a euro for a slice of onion- since when is a slice of onion a side order? Our school has 36 children, 30 staff, we will ensure the parents friends and family are made aware of the treatment we recieved in this establishment and will urge them never to set foot in their premises. A very shocked and saddened customer.

Nice atmosphere -v.busy for a Monday evening. Burgers were thick and juicy, but the fries were very bland. Service was OK -the waitresses seemed to be cranky, and generally didn't come near us. We had 2-for-1 meal student vouchers, and student €3 cocktails/beers, so it was very cheap, but if paying "normal" prices it's not great value.

Ate here using a Captain America's 40th Anniversary buy one get one free voucher from their newsletter. Had not been here in years since I was a child, even though I receive the newsletter. Was suprised to find it absolutely buzzing on a Tuesday evening. The reason: Drinks and cocktail Happy Hour all night, and a very studenty atmosphere. We had to wait for a seat but it was fine and we had a happy hour drink while we waited. We were moved to another seat a while after we were seated but were offered complimentary drinks of our choice for the move, which we were happy with. Service was very attentive and the meal turned out to be extremely cheap with the voucher etc. It was good cookhouse grub. It was a lot brighter than I remember and they could do with turning down the lights a little, but maybe they have good reason for the bright lighting with all the students about. I saw giant cocktail towers also being brought to tables which looked like fun. I would reccommend Captain America's for a fun night out

Food was good. Was an enjoyable place for socialising. The service was ok and fairly attentive but was quite busy at the time. Had to wait for a while before we got a seat. I would go again though, especially with the 2 for 1 monday to thursdays!

I had dinner here the other night. I had the chilli con carne which as always was lovely, you get so much food (a large bowl of chilli and rice with tortilla chips on the side and your choice or two large baked potatoes, chips or a salad on the side. For students there is a 2 for one option which is good value but I think that without the 2 for one option it is quite pricey. The food is quite nice but you are served within minutes, often before you get your drink, so it is not freshly prepared for you. The atmosphere is not as good as it used to be, it's very quiet these days. Overall, it is a nice dinner if you are looking for something casual and reliable.

I came here on a Monday night and it was reasonably busy. I had a college two for one card which meant it was good value but otherwise, I think it's a little expensive for what you're getting. The staff were very nice though, the food is always good with very good portions and they don't rush you out after you're finished.

Had our work Xmas lunch here - almost 30 people in our group. Place very busy at 2pm - same as we left about 4.30pm - all age groups there. Music far too loud but staff lovely & service excellent. No delays or wrong orders despite large party of us. Food as expected - tasty but not for those counting calories. Portions far too big - most plates went back half full - such a waste really. However I enjoyed my chicken goujons starter, followed by mushroom burger, & then huge piece of profiterole cake. €19.95 for 3 courses and tea or coffee. Brought back memories - this restaurant has been around nearly as long as I have so they must be doing something right.

great place to bring the other half or for a good feed before you go on a night out. We both had the bbq chicken and fries which was really tasty , and not to over the top on price either. The service was very friendly and effiecient. Also it is nice to see the staff maintain their usual fun selves despite the restaurant being very busy. overall a very enjoyable time and i give a very strong recommendation to this place!

Birthday party with 10 people there. We're all students so we availed of the buy 1 get 1 free offer which was fantastic! Bit of a confusion at the start about our reservation, but the manager sorted it out in the end and we thoroughly enjoyed our night. The restaurant was EXTREMELY busy, so if you like a busy busy atmosphere then that's great. I had the Chilli Con Carne which was lovely but a bit greasy. Absolutely massive portion though, I've never been to America, but this is what I'd imagine portion sizes are like over there. Location is handy, especially if you're waiting around for other people. Plenty of shops around to have a walk around in so you're not waiting by yourself. Alternatively the restaurant does have a bar you can sit at. If you're not worried about looking like a drunk you can drink while you wait! The walls are very interesting too. Received a free round of shots at the end. Not sure if this was a "please go soon we need the table" shot or "apologies for the confusion earlier" shot but nonetheless it was well appreciated. We've all decided that we're going back there again for future birthdays!

I booked Captain Americas last week for a leaving day lunch for a girl from work. We booked for 14 people and everything was in order when we got there. There was an area reserved with ample room for our party and the waitress was promptly over to take our orders. The food was delivered to our table quickly and was fresh and inviting. For €10 a head on the lunch menu to have burger and chips/Club sambo & chips or Captains 3 (bowl of wings, bowl of chips & bowl of salad) with drink is exceptional value. I had my doubts about the timings for such a large group and also it being lunchtime but the waitress was brilliant and attended to our needs. definitely recommend and will be returning!!

I used to always go to Captain Americas but it had been a while since my last visit. They often have two for one vouchers in the paper, and with this it is good value. If I didnt have the vouchers I'd probably choose elsewhere. I have heard not so good reviews about the burgers so opted for the fish - the portions are so so big, and quite tasty. There is always a great atmosphere in Captain Americas too. Nice cocktails also!

Visited the restaurant after show in Grand Canal Dock with 4 kids and 5 adults. Had a table reserved but was 30 mins late for it. The staff kept table and did not make fuss. Great value for kids. €5 for drink, meal and ice scream. Bill for 9 of us was €132 so cannot complain. The only negative feedback was about the ribs I ordered. They were very dry. It was the first time that I ever responded negatively when a waitress asked if all was okay. She quickly returned with new portion. Next time ill order something cooked to order rather than batch cooked earlier. Will still return.

always passed it but never went in but eventually made the plunge for lunch...great! We got mains, side, free drink and it was only about €12 each. we had wings (really spicy and great portion), the onion rings (again great portion and VERY tasty) and burgers for mains which were delicious....i love it...definitely a new regular place!

I have to say this place has really gone down recently! I used to love going for a burger as they tasted as if they were home-made, this is not the case any more pure processed meat very disappointed. The staff are very helpful and friendly though but don't think I'll be returning any time soon for food

Ate lunch here and was very disappointed. I found that the portion size was too big and that the price matched it. I got the Captains 3 which included wings, chips and a salad. The salad wasnt great and the chips didnt retain their heat very well. The wings were tasty but there was just too many of them. It would be better to go here for dinner as the food and the menu are quite nice but just too much for lunch. However, the service was great and the staff were very polite. The restaurant itself is quite funky with the memoribilia on the walls and has a nice atmosphere.

A huge let down. Burgers poor quality, over cooked, not great at all. Had a half price student voucher but too be honest they weren't even worth half price. I will definitely not be back.

Not good value - it's only good value if you get the deal at lunch, otherwise the food is tastless and boring and they give meager portions. Where else can you pay €13 for one enchilada with the rest of the plate taken up with salad or oven chips. For an american diner style restaurant you would think they could make their own chips. Totally rubbish, 2nd time being there and hated it as much as the 1st time. Should have gone with my gut instinct on my first visit. I'm giving it a littel extra as it does have quite a nice buzzy atmosphere, but staff rather solemn looking.

As usual, captain americas was busy and loud on a Sat night and I had my usual veggie enchiladas which were delicious. They also had a great deal on cocktails and I had the oreo meltdown which was amazing. Would go again with vouchers, but it is a bit overpriced otherwise.

when 4 classmates want a few laughs and a girlie gossip session over a cocktail or two- this is always a good spot. With lunches being less than 10 quid- incl. a drink/ a beer/ a glass of rose, you really can't go too wrong. The food was all right- but then this place is more for its American Diner look and feel, the laidback atmosphere and the cheesy music- always a great spot for a few giggles- to break up a monotonous day, I'd highly recommend it :)

Ate here for lunch recently. They do a very good lunch deal where you can get a meal and a drink (soft or alcoholic) for under ten euro. I ordered the Captain's Three - chicken wings, fries and salad and my friend ordered the cajun chicken burger and fries. Food was good and we got good sized portions (I got a load of chicken wings which came in a delicious bbq sauce.) My friend said his burger was good too. Service was good - quick and efficient. Overall had a very tasty lunch for a great price. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a quick, cheap lunch!

Cocktails are great. Food wasn't anything I would be referring friends for but it is cheap so Value wise you get what you pay for. Cheap night out would highly recommend.

Cheap cocktails (Monday to Wednesday - €3!) good food, loud and fun atmosphere, make this restaurant one of my favorite in Dublin, its good for both lunch and dinner, and on Wednesdays theres karaoke!..The food is a little over priced for what it is though, but still good!

Excellent for students if you're in one of the many colleges that issue the two for one discount cards. I find myself going here time and time again for lunch with a gang of class mates and it's always a nice atmosphere to sit and chat in. The staff are always lovely and even at busy lunch times the service is prompt. In terms of food I think their chicken wings and nachos and most of their starters menu are the winners for me, the burgers and pizzas from the main courses are just okay ( not very tasty but they fill you up ) and the deserts and milkshakes really are delicious. The only thing i'd change would be that the two for one cards could be used on the starters and deserts instead of on mains!!

liked the atmosphere & service. Food was fine, my side salad was wilted on my plate, which disappointed me as that is a very simple mistake but turns you off a little. Ribs were the best out of d 4 mains we ordered.the best thing bout this restaurant is that kids meals are €5 which includes drink, maincourse & desert.i tasted d jelly off this option & it was very bland.

I went here last week with a few friends. I love the athmosphere here it is young, relaxed and there is always something to look at with celebrity memorbilia all over the walls. The service was great, staff where very friendly and helpful. we all had different starters I had the brushetta which was yummy and my sister had the calamari whch she said was really good. for our main course we all had the chicken fillet sandwich which was very tasty but unfortunatly quite dry it really needed more sauce on it. Vaue was brilliant as we had our studnet cards which ment we get 2 for 1 on main courses during the week. Overall a great night and will definately be returning.

Have been here on a few occasions and every time there is a considerable wait, which is not good when most people go to a resturant hungry! The food is fine, nothing to write home about or extravigant. Would only visit here if it was a friends choice for an occasion.

Vistied the restaurant recently as had a 2 for 1 main course voucher.I had the veggie lasagna and my companion had the veggie burger. The portions were very big, including a large side salad. The lasagna was mostly cheese and to mato sauce with only a scattering of vegetables but still tasted nice. The veggie burger was nice but nothing special.Their special cocktail, The Love Potion for €5 was delicious. The service was very good considering they were very busy on a Thursday night. We had to wait 3 mins for a table, which was fine as they have a full bar to sit at.The music was quite loud as were some of the other diners, so defintely not somewhere for a romantic meal. There were a number of larger parties dining as is very popular with after-work crowds.Would come again as the voucher deal is very good value.

This is one of my favourite American sttyle restaurants. i love this place. Would usually jus drop in for a quick bite, not usually a whole three course dinner or anything. But the New Yorker Burger is amazing. Have always had good experiences here and is very reasonably priced.

A group of us went here one Wednesday evening for a night out. We love this place and while the food isnt exactly michelin star we love the atmosphere and design. I had the Vegetarian Enchilada which was very nice. My friend almost had a whole head of lettuce in her cesar salad though! Ive had the Hawaiian pizza and the Chicken + Cheese Enchilada before which were v tasty. The sauces they use are delicious too and its a great place for a few cocktails before you head out. Overall great place. Would like to see some meal deals maybe eg 2 courses for €15?

The last time i was in here was the night after my 22nd birthday and lets just say i had 2 many cocktails drank the night before. It was like a small family get together/celebration of my cousin graduating. Dear god i was in ribbons. The food was really good though big burger and chips with a huge chocolate milkshake. We werent waiting too long on food and service was with a smile. Captain americas is a nice spot hidden away upstairs on grafton st its medium sized with guiters etc stuck around the place. I have also heard they do great superbowl partys where they are open late and serve hot dogs

Super friendly service and yummy food!! Was there on Saturday around 5.30p.m. and the place was packed with people. We didn't make a reservation, but they managed to squeeze us in for 6 o clock. We were able to leave and come back later. It was handy to have St Stephan's Green Shopping Centre so close by.... Could definitely go back again!!!!!!

The waitress that served us was great, she was honest about which drinks were best value, and didn’t rush us despite it being a busy Saturday night. The food itself was probably best described as average, but then again, it was exactly what we required and expected, so no great disappointment there. We ordered 2 burgers, one veggie and one bacon & cheese. Within what seemed minutes of the order being taken the food arrived, that always seems a little unnerving, you expect at the very least a 15 – 20 minute wait for food on a busy Saturday night, surely? The drinks were over priced, again, expected so not too worried about that, it was one of those foodie experiences that served a purpose, but will soon be forgotten.

I went there with my boyfriend on New Years. We had to wait a good bit to be seated but it was pretty busy. That didn't matter thought because we were served our food within ten minutes of ordering it. We both ordered enchiladas which were the best enchiliadas I've ever tasted and you get so many fries with it. I can never finish a meal there because they're so huge, but the food is amazing! Also the staff are great; very helfpul and patient even when it's really busy.

You can't go wrong with Captains! Went here on a Thursday evening before heading out - I had the chicken curry with chips, always a tasty option. Their lasagne and their veggie burger are also quite nice. Two of us shared a pitcher of the Royale cocktail which was delicious and good value. Great casual place for dinner with friends!

Ok I went on a busy Saturday afternoon, but everything was distinctly average. The staff were pleasant but too busy. it was so noisy, tables are announced over the speakers which I thought was unecessary, it's not that big a place. Food was OK, it came out quickly.

Was told I was very obviously a blow in if I'd never eaten in Captain Americas, the so-called heart of Dublin eating. Have to say that I was extremely disappointed though. My enchilada was burnt and rubbery, while my friend's burger was dry and chewy. While the staff were extremely friendly it always felt as if we were being rushed. Ate what we could of our meal and left quickly

Haven't been into Captain America's for a while, so when we went in on a Tuesday night it seemed very quite. Notwithstanding the quite atmosphere, the food was good. Shared loaded potato skins for starters, I had the cajun chicken burger, my friend had the chicken and cheese enchiladas, both were good. We were heading to see a gig in the Gaiety and didn't leave ourselves enough time for dessert, but we did have a cocktail pitcher which made up for it and worked out to be good value. All in all a quite but pleasant night was had by both of us.

Captain Americas is one of the longest established restaurants in Dublin and was always famous for their quallity of food and atmosphere. However sadly this has changed and while I was disappointed with the quality of the food. I would hate to see this famous cookhouse closing or going out of business. Perhaps the owners should try and improve these faults and hopefully customers will enjoy their experience in the future.

I have visited captain americas on numerous occasions but sadly our last visit was very disappointing. They currently have an offer on for two main courses for the price of one and only for this offer I would not recommend anyone to visit there. I appreciate that this is a casual restaurant but appearances do make a difference when you are being served by a waiter or waitress, room for improvement in this area and in the taste of the food.

We went to Captain America's last night on our way to a comedy festival. It's been a long time since we were there and it was a little dissapointing. We had the chilli and the scampi and althougth the chilli was delicious the scampi was greasy and chips a little tasteless. The staff were very pleasant but we wouldn't be in a rush back. If the chilli was served without rice, it would have been a much better dish!

Haven't been here for years (maybe 25) but had lunch with work group yesterday and it was good value and not crowded. I had the Chicken and Cheese Enchilada which came with a free soft drink of choice for €9.95. The enchilada was very tasty and came with 2 large baked potatoes and salad. Be sure to order from the special lunch menu though as the same dish could cost you more from the A La Carte and you'll pay extra for your soft drink. There was a bit of a gap between different people getting their meal but there were 13 of us so perhaps not that surprising. Pleasant waitress though who enquired how all were enjoying their meal. 10% added onto bill for service. I'd go again.

Came here last night with a friend - think the menus changed and it's a bit more expensive since i came last time - but still good! Had the steak sandwich which came with a lot of chips, and my friend went for the vegeterian lasagne - good choice of veg. options! Atmosphere brill as usual and the staff were friendly and very quick even though it was busy.

I just have to give this restaurant 5/5 for atmosphere. Its just super. The food isn't the best you'll ever eat because at the end of the day it is just a glorified fast food restaurant. It good fun though so that makes up for it. I hadn't been to this restaurant in a while so I had forgotten how fun it was. I will defo go again soon. Its a good central venue also to catch up with friends.

We dropped in here because we'd been to the one in Tallaght and really liked it. Again we were in a bit of a rush so ordered pretty much the same bunch of starters - garlic fries, potato skins, baked potato, coleslaw, mozzeralla cubes. The food was all just as good as in the other Captain America's, but we didn't enjoy the experience as much. Obviously being in the city centre we expected it to be busier, but it was just so crowded and so many NOISY kids...guess we probably won't go there again unless we pick a quiet time.

Visited here with another adult and a 2 year old child. It was after lunch time but the restaurant was very busy-nearly full. You know eating here that it is an American restaurant and that's what you are getting and should order. My two year old had the children's menu-5/6 mains priced at 4.95. She had the plain pizza which is around a 7' pizza and a bowl of chips. This was obviously a lot for her but any child under 12 can get this meal. They also had a hotdog , a pasta dish, sausages, beans and also chicken nuggets. Side orders that come with the meal are a choice of salad/chips/potato. The pizza was was very nice. Great value for a child's meal. I went for the salmon which was overcooked but came with garlic butter, 2 baked potatoes and sour cream. I should have went for enchiladas or a burger etc. We also got the chilli con carne which had rice, chips and also nachos with it and was very nice. Portions are big so we were so glad that we hadn't given in and gone for a starter. Our food bill for the 3 of us was just over 30e.You would pay this for 3 sandwiches in some places. I think it's ideal for families. Only downside is that there is a stairs up to the restaurant and a steep stairs from there to the toilet. However, we were able to fold up our buggy and it was taken and put away, Staff are very efficient and friendly. As it's a noisy place it's ideal if your child gets a bit loud! They also gave crayons and a little booklet which is the kids menu.

I've been going here consistently for years and I am never disappointed. The staff and lively and friendly, the music is great and the atmosphere is always buzzing. The food comes out hot, fast and tasty. They recently changed the burgers so now they're chargrilled and absolutely delicious. Great steaks here and as for deserts, the brownie, meringue sundae and chocolate cake are gorgeous. Plus, they do the best oreo milkshakes I've ever had. Portions are huge so it's great value for money. Definitely love this place!

Ate here on St Patricks Day - really enjoyable. Chicken wings and nachos to start were great for sharing. All three enjoyed their different mains. Including a few bottles of beer - €83. Good value, good location, good food.

went in with the kids for St. Patricks day, they were very busy, so told us to come back in hour and took our name, came back and we were waiting about 10/15 mins for our table, understandable with the day that was in it, Our server was a really nice and very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. €55 for four of us for mains and drinks (two alcholic), good place for a family. nice and casual.

I hadn't been in a long time. Nothing has changed, and not in a good way. This used to be a great place to go have an amazing burger and a good time. It now appears dated and the food isn't up to much. With so many really good burger joints across the city, I think they really need to up their game. Give the place a lick of paint too.

Hadn't eaten in here for ages, both of us had starters, garlic mushrooms and chicken wings, pretty good in both counts. Main course was a veggie burger and a hawaiian burger, both pretty tasteless to be honest, we were glad that we'd opted for starters. Won't be rushing back, will just queue to get in elsewhere next time in town.

A group of 10 of us went here on Saturday night for a birthday and I must say I was disappointed. My last visit here mid-week was a much better experience. The service wasn't great and we found it a little bit difficult to get someone's attention to order our food and get some drinks. A few of us had to ask for our drinks orders again before we got them. The food was disappointing also with a lot of the group getting burgers and chips which were run of the mill and had hardly any toppings on them; the cheese was practically invisible on the cheeseburger! I got the lasagne and salad. The lasagne was tasty but the salad dressing was horrible. The desserts seemed nice enough, the few that actually got them, except one person who asked for a little more chocolate sauce on her ice-cream, she got the tiniest amount on there, got her ice-cream back melted. It literally looked like they put it in the microwave for a few seconds. It came back a puddle of ice-cream with no extra sauce. The bill for us all was just over €320 and considering none of us got the full three courses and hardly anyone was drinking I thought this was a bit steep. I like Captain Americas but I wont be rushing back there after this experience!

Hadn't eaten here since I was a student & it's still great for comfort food. Had a 30 minute wait for a table at the bar, which was fine given how busy the place was. Service was fast & friendly. The ribs & burgers were good. No complaints!

food always good in here! fun atmosphere, service is always fast. do really nice bbq sauce here asked for it as an extra time before last and they brought out a bowl of tabassco sauce instead of bbq and burnt my mouth really badly, they did bring out portion of chicken tenders as an apology but it was a careless mistake. other than that time always a nice place to eat when on grafton street.

Captain America's does what it says on the tin. Reasonable prices, fast service, fast food. Fine if you have someone in your group who's a picky eater, or if you want a quick dinner and cocktails to start your night. I was suprised though that a place like this doesn't have comfier seating, instead there are horrible wooden benches and chairs which doesn't encourage you to stay for a few drinks. Chips are nice though!

A large group of us went here for a Christmas get together. We had the set menu and numerous cocktails to accompany it. The food and cocktails were good and exactly what you'd expect from an American style diner. Service was very attentive even though the restaurant was packed. We were a bit rushed towards the end of the meal as the table had been booked after us. We were all very surprised that the bill was so reasonable as we'd been ordering cocktails in high volumes. We think we might have been given a few complimentary. The experience overall was very pleasant and I would reccomend it for a fun group night out.

May be it was the Christmas menu, I don't know, but that was the worst burger I'd had for decades. It was tasteless, dry and grey and came draped with a leathery, bland cheese slice and a rasher that looked like it had come straight out of one of those kiddy's pretend plastic kitchens, all wrapped in a soggy bun.The salad was limp with a green tomatoe slice and unappetising. Thankfully, the chips were good - and plenty of them. I ate the chips and most of the burger, just to soak up the gargle, and left everything else. The starter of spring rolls was ok and a friend let me try the garlic mushrooms which were good. Staff were ok but overstretched as the place was heaving. First time here but with a bill of €35 when I could have got a better burger down the street for a tenth of that at the "twin yellow arches", I'd have to think twice before going again.

Nice place.. Captain americas is one of the few resturants on Grafton st you can get a decent meal for under 15 euro. The decors crazy with rendom bits of memrobelia. The foods great basic but tastey. The cajun chicken burgs a must and death by choclate. Its a good place for a studenty dinner on a nite out the staff are real nice three euro drinks mon - wens from what i remember. Cocktails are a bit weird all kind of similar. Overall good place!

You have to take this place for what it is - a gourmet fast food restaurant. It is not going to be fine dining, just tasty comfort food to be had with a cold beer. I think its far superior to its rivals in town!

It was a long time between visits and the reason became apparent upon placing my order. I think It was the longest wait in any resaurant ever. I ordered Sirloin Steak Medium which eventually came out burned to a crisp. They did offer to replace it but as my partner was munching away through his chicken dish, He'd have been well finished by the time I'd be tucking in. It was very loud and boisterous. I left feeling hungry and with a thumping headache.

This place was jammed on a Tuesday night. Predominately 16-24 year old's so loud and busy. Do not go for a romantic meal, not that you should go to a burger joint in the first place. Food was OK. Very large portions. Our steak was overcooked, with a hair in the cheese melt, but the waitress promptly took it away, and returned with a correctly cooked (medium) steak, with comp drinks and a discount on all the meal and drinks purchased. Accidents will happen and I am happy to say the staff where excellent in how they dealt with it. I had the chilli, which was nice, though not very spicy. I like when burgers look like minced beef, but the burgers here where compressed mince probably pre-packaged. Pity when even some pubs in Dublin can give you the kind your mother used to make. Overall it is very like Hard Rock Cafes, so great for groups and parties. Fantastic cocktail menu.

Went for lunch here on sat afternoon. Fancied something quick and a beer while the match was on and this place delivered what we wanted. Service was very good. I had chili which came with rice and 2 baked potatoes which was far too much food but it was all lovely and my boyfriend had a burger and chips which he really enjoyed. Good value and quick and easy. We left happy and satisfied.

Decided to go to this restaurant for a burger and a few cocktails with friends after a day of Sunday shopping. Despite being fully aware of the fact that the prices charged in this place are mostly due to it being a novelty restaurant, we were all surprised by the poor service and more particularly food and drink which we were given. We all ordered the deluxe cheeseburger which was absolutely disgusting, it came served with a huge dollop of mayonnaise and old dried out cucumer slices on top, along with translucent cheese which no longer resembled cheese (plastic would be a more accurate description) and chips that were actually wet from grease - it was obvious the food had been sitting on a hot plate for some time. The long island ice-teas were even worse, having had one and being convinced that some trainee barman had simply mixed my order up with someone else who had ordered some nasty concoction of faux sugar and the cheapest alcoloholic syrup available, I called a waiter to ask for another as there was no way I could have stomached the drink. The waiter then came back with a second which was just as bad as the first and informed me that he had supervised the barman this time and that the "drink is just made that way in this restaurant" - basically...not well...I don't know what that drink was but it sure wasn't a long island ice tea. Having all been extremely dissapointed by the evening we sought our bill about 25 minutes into the dinner and waited another 20 to be given it. All in all not a pleasant experience, I know that these places aren't renowned for top class food - but there is a limit. Will not be returning any time soon or reccomending it to anyone.

Hadn't been here for years but remembered great food and cocktails so decided to try it while in town one evening. I had the potato skins to start which were so overcooked you couldn't cut through them. Next I had the chili con carne which came with tortilla chips and french fries (too much in my opinion). The chili was not fresh and had been blasted in the microwave for what must have been about 30 mins. It was hard and dried out on top and the cheese had gone hard. There was spatters all over the serving bowl which had been haphazardly wiped away. It was so hot I had to leave it to cool for 5 mins. Next I had a meringue sundae which was delicious - the highlight of the meal for me! I won't be rushing back as it's nothing like I remember, it's just boring badly done fast food now. It used to be different and fun. I can think of a far cheaper american style chain of diners with far superior food!

Had lunch here last saturday! Eventually sat ourselves because the waitress had sent us to the bar to wait but then kept giving tables to people ahead of us! Food comes out VERY quickly, almost too quickly! Mozzarella cubes to start which were lovely but a tad cold. Had the burger for main course, which was dry and the bacon on it was quite fatty. Chips were lovely but again not warm enough. All in all, pleasant, cheap and cheerful for lunch. Great for a crowd!

I have no idea why people are giving this restauraunt bad reviews! The place is quite simply brilliant go in and try the OTT burger they give you tons of the sauce all over the chips aswell as the burger it's amazing. The restaurant is always busy which is a testament to the quality of the food, the portions are huge the atmosphere is always good and the staff are very helpful. I would recommend making a booking as it does get extremely busy but you never feel rushed. There is a huge drinks menu too. Enjoy

my friend and i went here around 5pm and were seated right away. i have been here on many occasions before but the food quality has declined recently. we also felt rushed out even thought we had only been there for 45mins and i was asked several times if i was finished despite clearly not being. i was disapointed and will think twice about returning again in a hurry.

I had dinner here on Saturday night with the family. We arrived at about 7pm and were told there was a 15min wait for a table and it was just that, maybe even a lil less. Our waitress was very attentive and gave us just enough time to order. We were all very happy with our food. i had chicken wings to start, i wasn't mad for them but that's personal taste, nothing to do with quality. I had the fillet steak for main and it was cooked to perfection - I asked for medium cooked and thats exactly what it was. We all cleared our plates and couldn't even fit in desserts. Prices were normal, there were no surprises! Overall a very pleasant meal, its a favourite haunt of the parents so i'll b back. the cocktail menu just has to be sampled!

This is nothing more than a fast food joint. My last experience there was rather disappointing. I ordered some grilled chicken but it was cold and flavourless when I received it. My boyfriend ordered some chili con carne but it was actually too spicy to even taste it. The main courses arrived literally five minutes after we ordered, needless to say the meals were not freshly cooked!

Been a long time since I've had a really great night here, it has gone from an enjoyable restaurant to an average street diner. Not once has the staff's estimation of time for an available table been accurate, so ALWAYS book in advance. The food was out to us extremely fast (whether thats good or bad, I'm not sure). The staff were pleasant but catching their attention was near impossible at times. The food, though nothing wrong with it, was unspectacular at best. Nothing to complain about the food really, it just seemed so run of the mill. Was there a year ago and had a great night with my girlfriend, have returned twice since and been left underwhelmed both times. One word desription - average

TERRIBLE place... I went here with a friend in need of a nice burger. We both ordered burgers and a beer, the burgers came at pretty much the same time as the beer, so were not freshly cooked. After taking a bite out of the rubbery burger I looked at the meat, which was laced with fat and overcooked. They obviously pre-cook the burgers and lash them out. The chips were also served cold. Went here in a group, the place was ok. Food is better than expected but the service was very disjointed and rushed. Huge rush getting us to order and then waiting ages for main course.... You know what you're getting here, but basic service is a no brainer.

I went here just for a bite before a concert and it really hit the spot! Ive been here a couple of times before. They always do a proper burger! Far better than any McDonalds!! Yes, its expensive when you compare it to fast food. But the quality is far better.

I've visited here a number of times over the years, but have found that the place has seriously slipped in my estimation. I tried booking using their online system, and got no reply. I phoned and was told they could only book for parties of 8 or more (which was not the case on my previous visit). We then had to wait for 45 minutes for a table, despite being told it would be 20. The place was chaotic, with barely room to stand at the bar. The food itself was also not up to the standards set by previous visits - a very flat looking burger, with little fries and side salad. The cocktails weren't great and tasted very watered down. Service was poor, I guess the overworked staff weren't in a great mood given the crowd. I'd like to say that it may have only been a one off, but to be honest I doubt I'll be back to find out.

Very overpriced for what is effectively a fast food joint. The food is average and the service is quite friendly but this place is really only for teenagers and families so if you are over 21 I would avoid.

A load of rubbish. Captain Americas is overhyped and overpriced. They seem to be giving out vouchers, student deals, karaoke nights, "cocktail" specials and various other things to get people in the door. I availed of one such deal, which I mentioned when ordering yet still failed to prompt any reduction on the bill, which we sent back to be changed. I thought the staff were frosty, like the chips and I had the chicken sandwich which was poor. The cocktails aren't of a high quality, but I suppose for EUR 3 what do you expect? If you want a decent American style restaurant do not go here.

Dreadful... Just dreadful. I have eaten here over the years several times, and I've never had a nice meal here. I had a voucher (2 for 1 stuff) so decided last Saturday whilst out shopping to avail of it. I was dying for a Burger, so seemed like a good idea. No. Just No. I would've been better off to go to Burger King or McDonalds next door. I would think that Dublin (Ireland as a whole) have a wonderful array of decent eateries which ranges from excellent Pub Grub to Michelin Star Restaurants, and as a result I find it hard to believe that the food served in Captain Americas is considered good by anyones standards. I had a BBQ Burger and Chips, with Onion Rings. My other half had Chicken enchiladas. My burger arrived just as it said on the Menu. Covered in BBQ sauce. That was it. No onion, lettuce, tomatoe.. nothing. The bun was doughy and flat and the chips frozen and greasy. My onion rings were dry and slightly on the chewy side... I can't see that they had been just freshly cooked before I got them. I could not quite believe that some dressing wasn't on my burger. The meat was lifeless and tasteless. All in all, again I wondered why I even went in here to eat. My other half was not really impressed with his dish, saying it was just 'ok'. I'm given it two stars as the memorabilia stuck on the walls is great to look at, staff are friendly if a little detached...I will not be going back EVER again, even if next time, its free...If they can mess up a burger? Forget it....

Nothing too exciting!! Upmarket burgers compared to nearby Burger King and McDonalds. The best upside of this place has to be the large range of cocktails.

Excellent for large groups. The lunch menu often has some good offers and they are kind to students! Ok, so the food isn't haute cuisine, but it does what it does and does it well. Good cocktails and good staff and service. The memorabilia around the walls is funny too, with anything from Westlife to the Rolling Stones. Little bit pricey, but pretty large portions so I suppose it's acceptable. A great place for dinner before a night on the town.

I was disappointed after my meal on friday evening. The menu was smaller than the one shown here. I had a chicken burger but it was below average. The tomato and lettuce didn't seem too fresh. The chips were not very nice.Luckily enough I had a pigsback voucher so I didn't feel too cheated.

One thing your guarenteed with this place is that there is a great atmosphere. Always theres a good vibe to the place. Sadly the food always lets you down. And then when the bill arrives ya always are left wondering is this place just a "burger joint" at all. Very pricey for being what it is. Good service, always attentative and always has a great atmosphere.

We were there on the 4th of July. Restaurant was packed. We knew it would be packed so my friend booked a table by e-mail but their e-mail was down and they didn't even know we did book but they book a table for us straight way which was really nice. My burger was undercooked. I asked them to change it. Then they brought a new burger with new chips and salads and everything. I thought that was really nice to do. Staff is nice and I like that place. I'll go back there very soon.

This is a classic, American-style burger joint in a great location in downtown Dublin. The menu is pretty extensive and it's a child-friendly atmosphere. The food is always served hot with a smile. Fair price for large portions. We find excuses to stop in whenever we're in the area, sometimes just for a guilty milkshake and fries.

I often eat here for lunch when meeting a friend who works in the area. I find their €9.99 lunch menu to be excellent value, and once you're ordering from that selection the service is very fast, just what you want when you're tied to a lunch hour limit! it's also a good venue for groups as there will always be something for everybody.

Dined here for a nice lunch. Myself and my boyfriend arrived around 5pm, and were given a table straight away. We ordered from the Lunch Menu, at €8.95 for the meal. I ordered the Chicken & Cheese Enchilada with salad, and K ordered the Cheesburger with chips. Within ten minutes of ordering our dishes arrived at the table. Very fast service! The enchilada was really tasty, and the salad was really good, with the French dressing. K's burger looked nice and he said it tasted good too, but the let down of Captain America's was that the food went cold a bit too quickly. The possibility was that they just reheated food...which would disappointed me, but maybe that's how the Lunch Menu is. The dessert we ordered was the highlight; Cookie Sundae. Tasty ice cream, cookies, chocolate sauce and two spoons! Always lovely to share. The total was around €25, which was reasonably good. Maybe next time I'll go for Dinner.

I visited Captain Americas restaurant last Sunday evening. The restaurant was busy with customers and staff were on their toes constantly. Although busy we did not have to wait too long to be seated. We ordered haddock and fresh fries and a New York burger with fresh fries. Both were served to us within ten minutes of ordering. The meal was edible and tasty. There is always a very good atmoshphere in Captain Americas and staff are always very frindly. Although the meals are pricey in relation to their portion size, the restaurant has always been busy when I have been there so they are obviously doing something right.

This is a good family restaurant but the quality of the food isn't above that of Eddie Rockets. We used our 2 for 1 vouchers from pigsback.com (valid until end of Aug) and they make sure we got value for money! We were disapointed with out pitcher of margherita and it was so watery even before the ice melted. They make their margherita cocktails over ice, but with the pitcher they put in a lot of ice. So i'd adivse anyone getting a pitcher of cocktails to ask for it without ice. (same with the soft-drinks!). Great service though, and staff very friendly!

The staff were a bit off-hand but the speedily served plate of fries and nicely grilled chicken breast made up for it. Good reliable American restaurant -desserts were nice but seriously overpriced.

Ate here last night. Had the spring roll to start and my bf had the goujons. Goujons def won. They were delish and the mayo with them was fantastic. Had veggie burger for mains. Very tasty but could have done with some salad with it. My bf had the frenchie which he thought was extremely good. Happy hour on all beer and cocktails (€3) during the football which is a great bonus. Will def be back

Was here with a friend on Thursday last. We were shown a booth which was quite cramped and uncomfortable as the restaurant was packed we decided to just stay. Our waiter came over and took an order, our starters which came very fast, infact, too fast for my liking. I ordered Cajun chicken wings which were nice and tasty but then again hardly the most imaginative dish to cook or prepare. My friend ordered the potato skins with the ham and cheese filling believe it or not it was sliced ham used like in the packets for sandwiches and because there was so much cheese it was not crispy or warm...a big turn off...next came the mains I ordered the OTT burger which came with the most inedible chilli con carne I have ever tasted the bun on the burger was not grilled and it was so plain and dry I had to order a second drink. The fries were plain and boring, I mean it your an American diner do some nice fries!!! My friend ordered the lasagne which looked like it was made in the dish it came in and was once cooked at 11am that morning...tasted as bad too...our waiter was efficient and friendly and I cannot fault the waiting staff but the food really tells the difference between a chef and a cook I'm not even sure if I would call him or her the latter in this place.

Have been here loads of times and it's certainly worth a visit. Food is served in great portions (even if it is slightly greasy). Starter of nachos is definitely a highlight, although size wise it's almost a meal in itself! Huge range of cocktails wont disappoint.

I actually go here very often (Trinity students get meals for half price from Monday to Wednesday - just go into the SU shop and get an ents card) but I have to say the food isn't great. It's good value and their Shirley Temple's are interesting, but the burgers are tasteless. If you're a student go for the chilli con carne, it will fill you up so much you won't be able to move!

Went here last night with a friend. Was sat beside the toilet door for the second time in a row. Took the table beside the one the waitress led us to which the waiting staff didn't seem to like at all (despite the fact that nobody else could have sat there as the tables were conjoined). Our orders were rushed to our table as fast as lightning and we were served long before the people who had been seated for far longer than us. Food tasted like it had been zapped in the microwave. Staff were a little aloof but not necessarily unfriendly. We both got the feeling that they wanted us out for deciding not to sit beside the loo door or that they just wanted the table back as quickly as possible. They were busy but this isn't an acceptable way to treat customers. Next time I'm in the mood for something stodgy, will go elsewhere instead.

Was here on Monday night and was surprised at how packed it was. We had to have drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. The atmosphere was great. There was a lot of young people around and there was a good buzz(not great if you were having a romantic night out). I had the hawaian burger which was ok. It lacked a bit of flavour and the chips were just piled on the plate with a piece of lettuce and a slice of tomato as a garnish. I find with here the meals always sound nice on the menu but lack on the execution! Would be okay for a large party just their for the cocktails.

I love this place! Have been going here since I was a tot, and my parents used to come here when they were dating! Great atmosphere. Always busy but you can't book over the phone for small parties so if you want to eat here call in and book your table, go off and do some shopping then come back for old school American style burgers, chips, lasagne etc! Great simple easy food. Try the ice cream with chocolate sauce! The chocolate sauce is THE BEST!

I've been coming here since I was a child and now I like to take my son here, he loves it - particularly for the desserts. It can get busy Saturday lunchtime obviously, but we arrived for a late lunch (3-ish) and there was no problem getting a table. There is a good variety of fast food here. On this occasion I opted for pizza which was nice, but should come with a health warning regarding the serious amount of cheese loaded onto it! That said, I'd rather have too much than too little, as at least I have the option of scraping some off. Also, they provide proper steak knives woth the pizzas, which is good. My son loves the milkshakes. The service is usually good here, I find it adequate at least.

Popped in here on Friday with a few friends, we had no booking, but were seated after about 10/15mins. Staff were very friendly and recommended the ‘Tower of Beer’, which was 3 litres of beer in a tower with a beer tap at the bottom (you do get glasses). I had been to Captain Americas on several occasions, the last being before Christmas, I was very disappointed that time, and was wary on Friday night. I was pleasantly surprised this time, the food showed a dramatic improvement, as did the service. Great value all round, and recommended for a starting place on a night out.

I was quite happy with my meal here. THe portions were very large, the baked potatoes were wonderful, and I noticed that they give you plenty of butter pats to go with them, which other restaurants would do well to note. The service was very quick and helpful, and while it was quite loud due to a childrens' birthday party, the atmosphere was quite good. Great value for money overall.

I have been here a number of times and have really enjoyed it. If you like your burgers this is a great place to go with plenty of choice. It's always quite busy so you might need to queue. That's ok though because they give you the menu to browse while you're waiting at the bar! The service is very good too.

Captain americas is good for a fun girly night. The pizzas arent great and i feel they are made from a frozen base as the base is really like cardboard. The burgers are great and the fries delicious.Avoid the pitchers of cocktails as they are full of ice contain very little alcohol and are a waste of money.Try the warm chocolate brownie delicous!!!

really didn't like this place. Took my niece here a while back because it seemed like a fun place to go but the service was awful and the food tasteless. All of us had burgers and found them tastless. The chips were frozen and side miserable. There are far better burger and chip places in the city.

This place definitely offers the best burgers around and is great for lunch. However the last time I was there the waitress was extremely rude, getting visibly annoyed when we asked for another minute to decide and then avoiding looking over in the direction of our table in case we dared ask for something. The interior design keeps you entertained while you wait for your food.

Ate here on Sunday afternoon after a trip to the cinema. Have to say it was a bit too noisy with screaming kids and clowns blowing up balloons for them. I'd prefer to go at a time when it is not so family orientated. It is a good day out though if you want a few drinks and some soakage. Had the bbq burger with baked potato, the burger was nice but nothing much to it and the potatoes were lovely and came with sour cream. They give you two baked potatoes so I was stuffed after. Desserts are lovely, would definitley go back just maybe not on a weekend afternoon!

Any time I have eaten in Captain America's I have completly enjoyed it. Captain America's is a "let your hair down and relax" type of place, it doesnt pretend to be anything except what it advertises and as such would recommend it to friends and family. I have found the staff to be very open & friendly and the choice of menu very appealing (lovely cajun chicken & rice dish!) I have taken American friends to eat here & each one of them has loved it. Highly recommended!

Captain Americas is a great place if you go with the right expectations - beer, cocktails, American food, and a bit of light fun. No matter how busy it's been, I've never had problems getting a table in short order (they always say "20-30 minutes" and it's always 10 or less, so I reckon it's a deliberate bit of expection-resetting on their part!) The food isn't high cuisine, but it is plentiful, tasty, and relatively cheap. A meal and a few beers won't bust the bank (unlike a lot of other Dublin eateries). The burgers are usually good, and the nachos are fun to eat and share. The Tex-Mex stuff isn't quite as hot as it should be, but that's probably to suit the taste of your average Dubliner. The cocktails can be watery but you can always send it back and ask for more alcohol to be added. Recommended for an easy no-stress dinner before hitting the pubs, or just when you can't be bothered to cook. Great for groups and parties (the pitchers of Manhatten Iced Tea go down a treat!), young people, old people, etc. etc.

HAd dinner here last night with a group of 10 friends. Was so disappointed. We shared some combi platters to start, the were ok, nothing great about them, if anything they could have been hotter. I had the steak sandwich for mains, I has for medium but it was cooked to a crisp, so over done. The pepper sauce wasn't good either, really bitter pepper taste. The BBQ chicken and pizza's looked good. The cocktails were enjoyed by all, especially the fruit salad pitcher. The restaurant was so loud we struggled to hear each other speak but with such a place you can expect loud noise. Won't be rushing back.

Although fun and affordable, this place is over-rated. The cocktails are watery and the menu is unimaginative.

Have been here a number of times for dinner and cocktails and have rarely been disappointed. Their nachos can be a little too cheesy but otherwise perfect food and good atmosphere before going out.

This place is great during the day for families or late in the evening for a work night out. The food is ok - I had the lasagne for mains - it was ok, but the pasta layers were stuck to the dish which seems to suggest it was a bit over cooked. Our waitress was fine however not the friendliest person I have encountered - we got service without a smile :( . However the Aussie guy on the door made up for her lack lustre approach - top marks to him for making us feel welcome!!! Overall not too bad of a place for a quick bite to eat.

Went here on a work night out. It was busy so we were on a timed sitting so ended up being slightly rushed. Food was fine but set menu was a bit limited. Cocktails are very good and reasonably priced. Decor is interesting but is looking very dated and could do with a refresh.

Great for nights out with friends! Amazing cocktails and the food is always good. Very family friendly too, brought my one year old son and they did everything to make it an easy meal and never mentioned a thing about the mess! One of my favourite restaurants!

Ordered chicken and salsa Nachos, the nachos were so soggy under the sauce they had turned to complete mush and the cheese was rock solid on top of them, obviously they weren't freshly made. My main course was fantastic, Chicken Enchiladas. My boyfriends chicken burger was tough and he couldn't eat it. Didn't like complaining as the place was really busy and the waitress was so sweet but we filled out the comment card that our bill came with and left contact details and have heard nothing. Have been eating in Captain Americas since I was about 5 (I'm 26 now!) and this is the first bad experience I've had so I won't give up on them because of one bad meal. Also the frozen cocktails are fantastic.

Just fine for a burger. Went here on Saturday late lunchtime and found the food to be a good standard. Himself had a burger and chips and I had the rocket/parmesan salad in a lovely light lemon dressing with a baked potato, which was absolutely HUGE! The staff were friendly and on hand at all times. Atmosphere was as to be expected - busy and buzzy with lots of kids and hungry shoppers. Standard was better than the competiton and it's very handy being on Grafton St.

Recently revisited Captain Americas with a party from work - great night, food was good although we had to send mozzarella back twice as it was cold in the middle. Great service and cocktails were wonderful! Quantity of food a little off putting as it is just too much! Staff friendly. Big downside is waiting in the "bar" area. Noone has room to stand there and people are pushing in and out to get to tables. Therefore, layout in need of a rethink but overall great!

Burgers are amazing. The OTT burger is exceptional and is a must. The desserts are glorious also! It's a great place for parties or for families with young kids but especially good for teens. Only thing is the noise level is very high so don't expect much of a conversation!

This is one of my favourite places to eat in the city centre. It’s so cheap and the service is fast but they don’t mind if you linger for a long time over a glass of water at the end. Portions are very generous also and I always come away feeling full!

You know what you're getting with Captain America's. Yes, it can be full of students attracted by the cheap cocktails, and yes it can be busy and noisy and warm. But it also serves good food at good prices. If you have a hankering for a burger, it's a good place to go. Portions are generally large and satisfying.

Regular customer of Captain America’s despite the food being rather average, but that is kind of why you go.. it’s the old reliable for your basic burger and chips combo. Myself and friend went last night, service was quick and efficient. I had nachos and a mushroom burger and my friend had mozzarella cubes, Caesar salad and chips. Slightly overpriced for what you get, especially for the smaller starters. But an old favourite for after work none the less.

Went here with a group of friends, but was not allowed to book in advance of that day. They only took bookings after they opened for the night which was very awkward and annoying. When we arrived then we had to wait 30 mins at the bar before getting a table. The food was ok to good. I got ribs which I enjoyed and I just remember not liking the look of any of the desserts. Instead I got a mojito which was also not very nice. Service was ok and it was not fantastic value either. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

An excellent place, with delicious food. Definitely one of the better places for food quality-wise, and it is not something you expect here. Has a very "teeney" atmosphere, but generally there is a good buzz about the place. The overall value doesn't match what you get though, unfortunately. Service is fair, and the prices are ok, if a tad expensive for what you recieve. Overall, good food, but pretty unremarkable otherwise.

Ate here last weekend, not for the first time, and I was very disappointed overall with the place. Other times I have been here it was always buzzing and the staff were friendly but on Saturday night the place was empty. The burgers we ordered were brought to our table less than five mins after ordering. They had obviously been sitting in the kitchen for a while. They were like rubber. The pitcher of beer we ordered was brought to our table in a jug that had just been taken out of a dishwasher and was still warm. My fries were cold and a bit burnt. There was loads of staff around the place but nobody came back to our table to see if we needed anything or if we wanted dessert or the bill. We had to shout at someone to get attention. It seems this place has really gone downhill. I would not go back any time soon.

I’ve been here twice and I’m completely hooked on the Buffalo wings with hot & spicy sauce! They are so nice! Though the second time I ordered them on my own and that was a mistake, they are much too hard to do on your own as the hot & spicy sauce can over-power you if you have too much! But still absolutely gorgeous!

Great cocktails, but a very teeny bopper place. If you are in the mood for an American style menu, or a good burger, with a quick cocktail to start, then go for it... Nothing fancy here though, no frills food and drink, Enjoy.

Brought 4 kids here at the weekend and we loved it. I was surprised at how good the chicken goujons were. The chicken wings were poor but the main meals were great. One of our party had an enchilada and everyone else went for a burger. The range of desserts was greatly appreciated and availed of by all. The service was friendly and attentive. It was busy and almost had a party atmosphere. Great for exactly that!!

Used to be the best burger in the city...back in '85! It’s gone downhill since. The food is poor and often is cold. Capt. Americas has become tired and badly needs a revamp (not just the decor). It’s a pity cause the formula is simple and could easily be back to its best. Cocktails I find are watery to be honest. A lot of other places do the exact same thing a lot better.

I love here for lunch. They do an excellent lunch menu for 10 euro, which includes a drink. So if you fancy something of a somewhat larger portion and freshly cooked and all for under 10 euro. I stronger recommend here. Your choices range from salads to chicken to beef, burgers, wrap etc... Go on, its good.

Wanting some higher quality fast food and in a relaxing atmosphere we ventured here one evening, I will not be running back. While the atmosphere was good and the staff attentive and friendly the food leaves a lot to be desired. The chicken wings were good but my burger was so dry no juice at all in it and it felt like it was sticking in my throat. With the cheapest burger costing around 13 this is not good value.

Wandering down a washed out Grafton Street on a dismal summer day, myself and A spotted Capt. Americas and decided to drop in for a bit of lunch. This was the first time I'd been here in over 20 years, and I’m glad to say the place hadn't changed for me-with the exception I can now sample one of their excellent cocktails. The food is as you would expect-American diner style, with American sized portions-generous and tasty. A started with a delicious milkshake. We both plumped for the burgers and fries and a side salad. The burgers were cooked perfectly, generously smothered in Monterey Jack cheese in floury baps. Fries could have been just a bit hotter, but that is a minor quibble. Service was efficient and friendly. This is a great place to bring kids, and offers better value in terms of tastier food and better portions than the multinational burger joints-It is also family friendly.

Overall a good place for a casual bite and great for taking kids. The milkshakes are great (better than anywhere else I've tasted in Dublin), the portions are big and the foods quite good - just don't expect haute cuisine - it's a burgers, pizzas, potato skins kind of place. Often very noisy and bustling but the staff are friendly and the atmospheres good.

Classic upmarket American burger joint. The food is good. The place is lively and you'll have a good time in a group. It's not overly expensive and it's ideal for a bit to eat after a day pounding the streets of Dublin. You can get in without a reservation after a bit of a wait but on weekends and evenings it's probably best to book.

Captain Americas is one of those places I simply love to eat. The menu is broad enough without worrying you, the portions are HUGE and the burgers are delicious, no matter what. Their baked potatoes are always perfect (I am a HUGE fan!) and their cocktails are some of the best in town- I've certainly never had a better Blue Lagoon anywhere else! The mains are very good value, with less than 15 euro getting you a massive burger, a big portion of fries (or two huge potatoes with sour cream) and a large drink. From time to time they have great Buy 1 get 1 free student deals- can't say fairer than that!

I love Captain Americas. I got officially addicted when I was a student and they had 2 for 1 deals but even now I cant stop myself going back when I need a really filling lunch or want a good fun night out (preferably with really good cocktails, the menu here is extensive and reasonably priced). The food is tasty, the portions are large and the bill the perfect topping to the meal. Highly recommended for casual dinning.

I have made numerous trips to Captain America’s and this diner lives up to the much expectations of an all American diner. There is a wide selection of burgers but the one thing I like is the flexibility of the kitchen. Being semi-health conscious and a die hard fan of fries I could have half portions of both fries and salad, which did the trick for me. Milkshakes are simply irresistible. They are neither too thick nor icy. Just the right consistency. Definitely very much a family restaurant from the TV sets down to the badges they give out when you pay the bill.

Have been here a couple of times and not sure why... The food always seems it was rushed out from the microwave. There is plenty of it though. The menu is large and the atmosphere is suitable. There are plenty of cocktails too but not plenty of alcohol in them. Good place to watch sports.

I went here with my little sister for her birthday and found the place to be very noisy. We had to request that the music be turned down several times. The food is good and plentiful. The service is good but the noise level ensures that I will not willingly go there again.

This is a great place to eat in town, one of the best with respect to food and price. Was there last night, although really busy, as always, got seated instantly and had great food, brilliant portions with friendly but not overbearing staff and great prices. Will definitely return. Even liked the clown that was there to entertain the children.

I am a Captain A's regular for more years than I care to remember! Chicken & cheese enchiladas are the best - only dodgy experience was with a 'loose meat' sambo a few years ago. Went there with some Welsh friends over for a Rugby game a few years back & they were well impressed, relatively cheap and cheerful and the pitchers of beer are good value too, can be a bit noisy around the bar though!

Went here for my brother’s birthday. I expected so much more from the food. Burgers were tasteless and all six of us weren't too impressed. Expensive for burgers and chips, won't be going back again.

Captain Americas do excellent cocktails, and have a Monday to Thursday special of €3 euro each with a student card (if you are feeling naughty say that you forgot yours!) It is also very child friendly. The menu is reasonable, but do not order a burger, they are gross! I had one last week and the pate was cold, and the cheese had coagulated on it. However my friend had enchiladas and they were excellent.

For some sentimental reasons, I go there too But when they stopped cooking the beef burgers to order, the quality of the patties went down, unfortunately these days even Mac’s do a better burger than Captain A's Will I eat here again? Yes, I will, but I’ll avoid the tasteless beige over cooked burgers from now on.

For some sentimental reasons, I do go to Captain Americas every once in a while. Still have some childhood memories of visiting Dublin ending up in this place as a 'special occasion'. Can't comment on the quality 20-30 years ago, but in recent years (now living in Dublin) I never got let down. Maybe it is because I do go there for the steak or the burger and this has always been cooked to my liking. Also, the corn as a starter is not that common on menus, and the desert can easily compete with places which primarily focus on sweet tooth customers but still haven't managed to live up to their expectations... Maybe not the most obvious place for a cocktail, but if you order one with or prior to your meal, you do get it with strength. The only - but admittedly annoying - disappointment is that they do not offer a black pepper mill!!! Something a steak restaurant shouldn't live without!

This is an ok place, with ok food, but order carefully. A lot of the starters are quite greasy, and are best avoided if you want to feel well enough to eat your main. The combo dish may seem like a good idea- its not!

Does great cocktails... food is ok. Somehow they messed up ice cream by putting hot chocolate sauce on it, which melted the ice cream but also cooled down the sauce, which in turn made the sauce hard!!!

This used to be the place to go but now it is just awful! The food is totally tasteless. I ordered the chicken burger and got a cold oversized chicken breast that was full of blood vessels on a stale bun- yuck! The only thing edible was the chips! My boyf got the burger and it again was cold and tasteless. I will never go back here again!

Though it is often chaotic and busy it is sometimes nice to wait on your table in Captain A's and enjoy a cocktail. We attended this place regularly to the point where the staff would recognise us and seat us more quickly than what is usual. They also occasionally gave us discounts for being good customers, which was incredibly nice and made the experience more enjoyable. The staff were always efficient and very friendly. I would tend to order lasagne, vegetable or beef, the latter being decidedly heavier to bear. Then I discovered the veggie burger- yummy! My partner would order the very expensive steaks, medium rare, but they nearly always arrived fully cooked. Like most American style eateries, the portions are massive and it would be hard to fit in starters and deserts. The nachos are a dinner on their own. Desserts are very rich, especially the chocolate cake, you might regret the decision to order it!

Have eaten in Capt. A's several times and found the service a little slow when it's busy. However the great range of drinks on offer makes the waiting easier. Great steaks and the Tex Mex food is good, though not spicy enough for me. Yummy desserts too. All in all, a good, casual atmosphere and well-cooked food.

I wish this place was better but they just can't get their act together. Last time I was there my veggie burger was barely lukewarm but what really got me was my boyfriend's chicken. The breaded part was steaming hot and the chicken was freezing cold, microwaved. I've had better out of petrol station deli's!

Was out for the night a few Saturdays and myself and 3 friends went inhere beforehand. We had to wait for about 30 mins for a table, however they have a bar with seats so it’s not too bad. Tends to be very busy on Saturday nights though. We didn't have starters or desserts, just went for the main courses and had 2 New York Burgers, and the 2 Steaks. Everyone was happy with the service & food. They serve pitchers of Heineken and have a nice cocktail list, would suit a party of 4 or more.

Captain Americas has gone down hill. The first time I ever went a few years back I love the place. It was everything anyone would want from a restaurant. Recently nothing has changed except the quality of the food. When I was last there for food (I go to the bar often) I was proved right by what I got on my plate. The chips looked like something from the left over plate from previous customers and my chicken was not cooked fully. I wouldn’t recommend this place for food but if it’s a good bar, great atmosphere and really nice staff then by all means go along.

My kids love this place and I feel a sense of nostalgia towards because I used to hang out of the bar drinking cocktails here 25 years ago. However, I have to say the food is absolutely dreadful. Even when I have ordered the veggie burger without the bun and with salad, it still comes down so deep fried, it’s drowning and accompanied by a litre of coleslaw. We have reached an accommodation, our children eat their food and we drink their drink!

Having eaten here often as a student I always found it was consistent and good value for money. One of the few reliable places to go if you are hungry but not up for posh nosh! I would recommend it as a good starting point for a night out also as they have a good range of drinks is inexpensive and the service is fast.

It is annoying that you can't reserve a table here because it's generally busy so you always have to wait. And even the bar area is busy so you can't always get a seat. But I still think it's worth it because the food is good. Mostly burgers but other options are good too and I like that they offer cocktails and beer in pitchers - makes for a good night out. Dessert is always tasty too.

I booked a table for 4 thru MenuPages during the week for last nite and was annoyed when I got there as staff told us we wud have to wait for a table as they don’t take bookings for groups of less than 8?But I got an email of confirmation from u during the week? Anyway after a bad start the food was lovely especially the desserts and the music atmosphere and staff were great too! I was sorry I went for enchiladas instead of the burgers the others had, as they looked amazing, the brownie and apple pie desserts were fab too! And the banana daiquiri was so tasty!!

The city of Dublin would be poorer without this famous American burger/steakhouse. A place, which suits everyone: families, people on a budget, students out for a pre-pub or pre-club meal and to tank themselves up on cocktails, etc. Food-wise, you're best sticking to the reliables - chicken, tasty burgers, hot dogs, nachos. This ain't a posh place! Lots of drinks on tap (you can also just sit at the bar and have a drink and snack) and the aforementioned pitchers of cocktails go down a treat. In fact pitchers of beer are also available. Now you're getting the idea! Prices are reasonable enough. Unfortunately, they have got rid of their Superbowl night, which were famous as the best place to watch the Superbowl until 3AM in the capital.

I went here with a large party for a casual meal and that seems like what this place is ideal for. They are similar to other chains in the sense of their very lively (kind of rowdy) atmosphere and food. The food is standard, burgers, goujons, chicken etc and in huge portions. The also have a good cocktails selection and a full bar. It is normally very busy so there will be a wait to be seated and you won't be welcome to hang around too long after you've finished.

I love Captain America's! It's such a nice fun place to eat. You'll usually see teenagers on dates and family groups. The food is great for what it is. After all, it's a burger joint. Don't go expecting elegant food here because you won't find it! Unusually for a place like this, it can be quite difficult to get a table. You might need to book in advance, even if you only pop in an hour before you want to eat and put your name down. You could even sit at the bar and have some drinks while you wait. Good simple food at reasonable prices.

I've been here three times and found the burgers nice and I've enjoyed each visit, it's around the same price as other fast food chains but in my opinion it's much better value for money and the service quite good and friendly, and the cocktails are reasonably priced with a good selection also, the atmosphere is quite lively and an ideal place to go with a group of people.

I've been here a few times and have never had a bad experience. Always quick to seat you but unlike other posters here we were waiting an ideal time for our food to come out and when it did it was fab. They give you loads here, they nearly give you a complete bag of chips there is loads and definitely worth it. I recommend this place.

The Ronseal of restaurants this, it does exactly what it says on the tin - an American themed steakhouse with pitchers of beer and cocktails aplenty... a great place for a group or party as a launching point for a night on the tiles. Was a popular haunt when I was a student and seems to have maintained its business since. Not exactly a classy place, but you know exactly what you are getting!

Captain Americas does what it does very well. The wings are lovely and very hot. Service is good and very efficient. There is lots of music memorabilia on the walls. Good spot for bringing children or parties. But it usually requires a wait for a table so it's worthwhile turning up around an hour early to put your name down.

I just had lunch here today with a friend from work. We decided we needed a burger (feeling a bit rough from last night!) I haven't been here for years so we decided to give it a go! We were seated promptly by a friendly waiter, he took our order but our burgers arrived about 2 or 3 minutes after ordering which means they couldn't possibly have been fresh. They actually tasted like they may have been thrown in the microwave they were dried out. I had the cheese deluxe and my friend had the cheese and bacon, had they been fresh they would have been yummy!! It cost us €13 per burger and with a drink our lunch was €15 each overpriced for the quality of the food to say the least. Won't be going back for another few years.

Myself and my boyfriend went there recently and were really disappointed. The food was out practically before we had finished ordering, it wasn't at all fresh. The burgers, which are suppose to be the speciality, were crap to say the least. The staff were so busy chatting that we had to ask a number of times for drinks, etc. In the end it was way too expensive for what we got. We have both been there a number of times but it is really going down hill.

I brought my husband and my two kids there and to say it was enjoyable was an understatement. As soon as we were seated the staff gave the children colouring books and crayons. It was the first time I have seen my husband not finish a meal he was stuffed to the gills. Very enjoyable evening for us as a family.

This well established restaurant is iconic to Grafton St and the fact that it has last a lot longer than most of the high street shops say something about it. They dish a great burger and the atmosphere is fun... the staff are friendly and the music is good.

Good menu, something for everybody. Besides that it is your standard American restaurant, but I like it!!

Bog standard burger bar that is mostly aimed at teenager types who've yet to encounter real food. Fair enough, everyone hankers after a burger every now and then, but really, save the expense and go elsewhere. This is just fastfood with pretensions. The cocktails are passable, but tend to feature too much mixer making them too sweet for any informed palette. The sort of place you'd expect to be populated by hen-nights...

This is how I would expect an all American diner to be. It's loud & brash, the food portions are big and tasty, the staff are fast & friendly. What's not to love? I know it's known for its burgers but try the grilled salmon with the garlic butter - very tasty.

I love this place, when I can get a table that is. The place is nearly always heaving but in a way that’s why I like it here always has a really good atmosphere to it. I’ve had some really good nights out here with large groups of friends. Its worth the wait for the food and the staff are always friendly even under pressure. It can be expensive sometimes but would still recommend this place for a good laugh.

I've never had such a stressful dining experience. Way too noisy and the food nothing to write home about.

It’s cheap and cheerful and a bit of craic. I have had a few good meals here and always had fun. It's the type of place more suitable to a group as it's usually pretty loud and busy. The service is always swift and friendly.

American diner food as it should be! Chicken enchiladas were tasty, so was the Lasagne and the burgers are just as a burger should taste, TASTY! Food portions are very filling, especially the starters so be careful what you order or you'll be busting at the seams before you start your main course! Overall the service was fast and friendly, food was tasty and the cocktails yummy! A definite must for dining with friends or family!

Captain A's is a no messin' all American grill bar. Service is in a flash, and I've never left there hungry - its not fancy food, but when you are in the mood for a real burger and chips, you can get it with a coke for €10 on the lunchtime menu - where else in Dublin would you get value like that.

This is on a complete down hill slope! About 10 years ago I used to dine here with my parents, and it was rather enjoyable for a family day out. Now the food is over cooked, dry, and even the baked potatoes are awful. All the food tastes as if was cooked by unenthusiastic Home Economic students, the day before and reheated to land on my plate steaming and looking rather sorry for itself. The glasses are frequently covered in lipstick, and smeared, and the tea and coffee is nothing exciting. Why do I still occasionally eat here... because, before Dandelion opened on Stephen's Green there were few places to go in the area that offered food at relatively cheap prices, where one could go with all their shopping and feel comfortable. Thankfully, I haven't been in a while.

Service is good, people are nice, food is Par but good value, if your doing some shopping and enjoy a burger give it a go, 10 euro for Burger Chips and a Coke in a nice atmosphere, and its big portions too...

This used to be one of my favourite restaurants, now it is a reheat restaurant serving sub standard food, whatever happened to the great chilli or the super burgers you used to serve. Sorry but after this experience I am sure I wont be back, yours is a restaurant that evokes great memories but now sadly you are thriving on peoples memories of what used to be a great restaurant.

Had a nightmare of a meal there recently, arrived in and were told that our table would be forty minutes which was fine as we knew we would have to wait. Had a drink at the bar and when we were called we were told they would need the table back in 1 hour. I had no problem with this as I know how busy the place gets, but to take so long for our food to arrive and when it does come out its cold! After 45 mins the waitress came along, muttered something that we didn’t hear and left the table, it was only when she had left that we realised she had left the bill on the table and expected us to pay and leave, we had only received our main course!! Very disappointing.

Good place to go with a crowd, the cocktails are great. It’s a bit expensive though and you always have to wait for a table. If your on a night out but don’t want to go anywhere fancy it’s not bad.

Very hard to review. I love the atmosphere and the bar even though I'm not very impressed at all by the food. The burgers are tough and the ingredients aren't very fresh. A bit over-priced for the food that's on the plates.

OK we are talking about standard American food, if you are really craving a good burger but you are ashamed to go near McDonalds this is a good place to go, it can be fun. Service is good overall salads lack imagination, place looks a bit dirty...or in need of a good clean up overall, for experienced foodies I would just say avoid it :-)

Was extremely disappointed the last time I went to this restaurant. My burger was very plain - we actually wished we had continued on a few more minutes to TGI's. The food quality has deteriorated so much, which is a pity as it’s a great spot!

Pitchers of cocktails are great value....I have eaten here quite a lot and found both the service and quality of food varies depending on the time of week you eat there. The last time I ate there (I haven’t been back since!) was on a Saturday night when I ordered a burger which was bland and overcooked the manager told me that when they are busy they pre cook burgers and just finish them off when ordered

Had a horrible experience in Captain Americas, food tasted like re-heats, needs serious re-vamping and a better access area instead of climbing those steep stairs, toilets were out of order the night I went, was very disappointed, food was awful what more can I say?

Tastes like reheated food. A ten year old would be able to make better food at home but the Cocktails are top-notch and make up the fact your paying for an overpriced but less tasty McDonalds.
