I had a quick lunch here with a friend two weeks ago. She had a mojito to start with, but there was too much ice in it, and very little mint or lime. Both of us decided on the chicken burgers which were tasty but we were waiting about a half an hour for them. I got a smoothie to finish off. For €5.75 for a smoothie I was expecting something spectacular but it was as if they just poured a packaged innocent smoothie into a tall glass and voilà! Service wasn't the best, with wait staff just wandering around the empty café, trying to avoid eye contact with customers.

very disappointing, Service was always with a smile but a vacant one,one of the waitresses who unfortunately visited our table far too often was clueless. Couldn't get our drinks order right in fact it descended into farce, we asked her for 2 apple juices for our older kids but instead she quickly picked up the babies juice cup, whisked it away and filled it instead, no apple juices came for the older kids, the baby didn't need juice, just weird?? Ceasar salad was pretty bad, really cheap bought in mayo type dressing definitely not fresh no flavour at all other than blenders type plain mayo. lettuce was ice cold like it had been taken from the freezer. but the most amazing thing was what they did to my husbands bangers and mash!It takes a lot of 'pan frying' to make a sausage turn into a crispy crunchy pork scratching type thing(no meat left). really really bad.It looked like it had made a visit to the surface of the sun. It must have been left in a Deep Fat fryer for a really really long time. My husband complained and the waitress asked 'oh what else would you like from the menu? it took a while to explain he wanted the same thing just cooked properly. Truly awful. Nice dining room bright & airy . There is no need to give your hard earned money to this place when so many hotels and cafes do the same kind of menu 100% better and for less money

Made a booking for Sunday night (7.30pm). Turned up and it was clearly obvious that a booking wasn't needed. We were the only diners in the restaurant for about 20 minutes so the atmosphere wasn't the best. Had the scallops and spring roll for starters. The scallops were bland. Virtually no flavouring. The spring roll was quite tasty. I had the cod to follow, which was delicious. It came with a small side salad and chips which were in a little bucket thing. I generally find cod really tasteless but this was lovely. My friend had the seared salmon which she said was lovely, but wasn't really gone on the potato. We shared the chocolate brownie with ice cream. This was really nice, if a little heavy. Service was excellent. Would definitely go back.

Very disappointing. I took my friends here for dinner last Friday night and we both had the chicken parfait to start. The two of us were served completely different sized portions and also different bread. I actually got brown bread served with mine which was not what was said on the menu. We both got the catch of the day which was completely tasteless and also smaller portion that the size of a cigarette box. Which is very measly for cod. Very expensive for nearly €20 too. I felt robbed after eating there which doesn't normally happen with me. The staff were very friendly though.

I visited Café Novo for the first time on December 28th 2011 after recommendation by a colleague. I booked the table, for 10, on Dec 26th, confirming that the Early Bird menu was available on this date and that a complimentary bottle of prosecco would be included, as advertised on their website. We arrived at a very busy restaurant at approx 6.20pm and were shown to our table promptly. After the entire party had arrived we were each given a complimentary glass of prosecco and handed our menus. We all chose from the Early Bird menu, which was fantastic value and ordered a couple of bottles of wine. I had the fishcakes to start, which were topnotch, followed by the risotto which was cooked to perfection. Another member of the party commented on the quality of the pork. We then ordered dessert and after some confusion and delay the waitress produced a beautiful dessert for another member of the party and I. Overall the food was very well received. My only issue with the night was the delay between courses and confusion among the waiting staff which I would attribute to understaffing. Despite the fact that a member of our party had rang ahead to arrange the birthday dessert there was incredible confusion over this on the night, which was slightly disappointing. However, for the food and general courtesy and professionalism of the staff, I will be returning to Café Novo

booked today for lunch for 6 Adults and 2 kids, Place was buzzing, lots of families. Interiors are excellent, very industrial, brickwork on show, great images on the walls, funky lights and comfy seating. No kids menu which is silly considering the amount of families there today. Waited 1/2 hour to get served, we had to go find someone to take our order. Another 40 mins to get Main course(no one ordered a starters) All Food was luke warm. I ordered Steak, Onion rings were very greasy, Steak as I said was luke warm but delish, French fries were very similar to Mc Donalds fries(yuck). When we had finished we waited another 20 min to get our table cleared and get dessert menus (again I had to make a fuse to get waitress attention to do both). Need to work on service and timings, Shame considering the Steak was so tasty!!!

Booked pre-theatre menu through menu pages. On arrival told time had changed -latest booking now 7pm on Fri. As this was not reflected on menu pages we were allowed avail of it. However, then told menu had changed - very limited selection now on offer - and no burger!!! Very disappointing as I had been raving about it to my friend, who had travelled from Kildare to meet me & was dying to try Cafe Novo. We opted for the fish & chips - only to be told they had run out!!!! At 7.30pm on a Friday night - with a very limited menu - not good enough. Starter of pate disappointing - tasteless & 2 slices of bread not very fresh. Main course of chicken on bed of mash with mushrooms not much better - mash lukewarm & dish very bland. Dessert of brownie nice - but at that stage we were fed up. Only positive I can say about this meal was the waiter who served us- professional and friendly. I have been a regular customer in Cafe Novo but can safely say this was my last visit. Have a feeling management won't really care - as no sign of anybody ever in charge when I've been there. Already mentioned in last review that name on front of restaurant almost invisible - still remains the same. And please update your profile on Menupages - i.e. new time for pre-theatre menu and new pre-theatre menu - as it stands it's very misleading.

Went here with 6 friends. Had a lovely relaxed meal. The restaurant was quite and there was no rush with getting served or being asked to leave at the end of the night. We had the early bird menu and everyone enjoyed their starters and mains. We had very nice wine and cocktails. We were also given a free cocktail to try out. A friend joined for dessert and this was not a problem. The staff were friendly and the service ws great. Would definitely go back again.

Visited here on Saturday evening for some bar food. The bar was quiet so we did not have any problem in getting a seat. We chose Sirloin steak to eat which was served with tasty french fries. We had a couple of drinks also with our meal. Staff were very attentive and polite which would encourage me to return. Give it a try as value for money and portion size of food are excellent. Would recommend.

we had our daughter's christening lunch here recently and it was a really enjoyable experience. The manager, could not have been more helpful or accomadating and he even tailored the menu to our requirements. The food was delicious, i would highly recommed the duck springrolls & the fish and chips. We will definitely come to Cafe Nova again!

What a disappointment! The only plus Cafe Novo has is that you can pop up to the Westbury bar without having to go out in the rain! The waiter was sharp to the point of being rude. Although we were having an early meal 6pm there were 2 items on the menu that were unavailable. We had to order all three courses at the beginning of the meal - do you really know what dessert you want before you've even had your starter??? The starters were a disaster - the Caesar salad was just wet lettuce -ugh! The soup came in a mug (might be trendy but not very practical) and both friends agreed it tasted like water. The spring roll option was ok. The mains were a bit better. Most of us had the burger which again came on a trendy wooden board - however, there was no room to manoeuvre - one slip and your dinner was all over the table. The accompanying fries came in pretty little spiral holders. As there was no place to put the fries on the board, you had to rummage in the holder to get a chip out! The steak was good. My friend who is vegetarian and not at all a fussy eater, said it was the worst meal she ever had out. The vegetarian options were poor so she ended up with the mug of tasteless soup and a veg mix for main which was also tasteless. Certainly won't be going back!

Went here for dinner with a friend as it had good reviews and a decent early bird - 2 courses for €19.95. Had made a reservation however when we arrived only 2 other tables were occupied which we were surprised at given the location and the fact it was a Saturday night. We were seated at a good table at the window so were able to do some people watching which went a long way towards filling in for the lack of atmosphere in the room. Waitress came over straight away and was very friendly. Decided to go main and dessert so I had the fish and chips while my friend opted for the chicken burger. Fish of the day was cod and it was perfectly cooked. Really enjoyed it. My friend also enjoyed her chicken burger though we agreed that you get a few too many chips and some more salad instead would have been good. We both went for the pecan brownie for dessert which was fine but a little burnt - neither of us could finish it. We also ordered cappuccinos with our dessert and were pleasantly surprised with 2 giant mugs of coffee - something you don't see often in city centre restaurants. It's when you get to the wine list that you remember you're in the Westbury. When in doubt or low on cash you're generally safe with a chilean sauvignon blanc which is what we opted for here but even that was €29. Overall though, good food at great value prices and the service was excellent. Will definitely return.

Went here on Saturday night. My friend and I both ordered the Steak and it was absolutely divine. It was a little quiet, not many people there. However, that could have been due to the bad weather. Would definitely go back again.

Went here on a work night out. Absolutely superb. The food was a complete delight, very well presented and not a morsel left on anyone's plate. The staff were very friendly and we were in no rush to leave. Would eat here again and again and have recommended it to friends. At 19 euro for 2 courses it was a steal.....

Thanks to Menupages I tried this restaurant. I redeemed 2000 points and got a free main course and glass of wine. Wine was a nice Savignon Blanc. I had the beef with shallots, champ mash and gravy. It was delicious. I would definately be back next time with my husband and friends. Had been meaning to try this for a while and am glad I did. Thank you Menupages!

Tried here on the 'free burger' deal from menu pages. Nice restuarant and the food stands up to the quality of output from the other eateries in the Westbury. Presentation is excellent, staff were friendly, and lunch isn't rushed. Best guacamole ever! Its a bit pricey for burger and chips (€15), but as I wasn't paying this time.....

Cafe Novo is a lovely place both for lunch and dinner! myself and a friend had lunch here, the food was superb, large portions of delicious food. Highly recommend the chicken cesar salad, or the buger!!! Although all the food coming from the kitchen looked very nice. the warm bread with dips is a lovely touch to start you off! There's something for everyone on the menu. The staff are very friendly and attentive, even the manager stopped to ask if everything was alright! The place was pretty full, great atmosphere. It's pristinely clean. Overall, if want great food, nice atmosphere, and fantastic service this is the place to go!!!

WOW! I felt I had to share this gem with someone. We bumped (literally) into some old friends on Grafton Street last night and decided to go for a drink. We all used to meet in a nearby pub many moons ago and were drifting towards it to catch up on old times when we came upon Cafe Novo. We went in, had a few drinks and cocktails (surprisingly reasonable). One conversation led to another and we decided to eat. They were able to fit us in even at short notice despite being quite busy. I am a seafood lover and I must say the moules marniere were outstanding as was the prawn linguine. Recession busting prices and portions as well! The service was impeccable from barmen to waiter and everyone was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly. I cannot recommend it highly enough and we all agreed it will become out new "haunt". Thanks Café Novo. If I were to sum up our experience in a single short sentence I would say “outstanding service and VALUE” Spread the word! P.S. you still get a hangover!

Make sure you check this place out, it's the place to be! Went to Cafe Novo last night and it was amazing!! The manager greeted us and made us feel so welcome and the staff were really friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was great with really cool music, we had cocktails at the bar before dinner which I'd highly recommend. I thought it would be really dear because it's part of the Westbury but it's really good value and the food is fab. Main courses were mostly between 10-15 euros. I heard they have a band playing there sat nights so I'll def be back, thanks Cafe Novo for a brilliant nite :))

Some restaurants make such an impression that they're worth shouting about and to me, Cafe Novo is a perfect case in point. Its a hidden gem right in the centre of the city. We went for a family dinner - 6 of us, ranging from adventurous eaters in their mid 30's to very plain eaters in their mid 70's. There was something on the menu for everyone and we really were soooo impressed with the food. To me, a true test of a good restaurant is the quality of its chips and they were perfect! The presentation of the food matched the taste so much so that it got us talking about the food much more than normal. The atmosphere in the restaurant is lively and it made me think that it would be a great place to go to for a large gang on a night out in town. We were made feel so welcome by the staff, which was the cherry on the cake of a really wonderful night out. Thanks for such delicious food and a great night out!

4 of us ate here on a Friday night. All meals were ok but it was not memorable and the restaurant was not overly busy. Average ratings for average food, service and atmosphere, but was reasonably priced and there were no faults and the place was clean. Would go again if invited, but if I was booking it wouldnt be top on the list

Traded in some of my menupoints for a free starter, main and dessert. I had the mussels cooked in cream and white wine to start. This was served with 3 different kinds of bread used to mop up the juices. Scrumptious! For my main I had the salmon fish cakes. 2 very large fishcakes were served. The fishcakes were very good. I could just about finish my main, the portion was so big. My partner had the duck spring roll to start and lamb shanks for the main. I tried a bit of the lamb shank and it was delicious. The sauce it was in was so rich and tasty. For dessert my partner ordered the Knickerbocker Glory which was just icecream and a bit of jelly. Not very exciting. All in all we had a lovely meal and buy one starter and main and get one free, our biill came to under €30 which is a bargain for everything we got.

Relaxed but friendly suroundings. Went here during the week and found the place quite empty. Ordered mains of sirlion steak and chips which were very tasty. Steak was quite large and no fat to trim which was nice. Desserts were a bit if a let down. I had a brownie but I didn't like it but it. too many nuts and raisins for me. Overall it was a nice meal but the main highlight for me was the service. Also the toilets are a little odd. The toilets are split into cubicles with sinks and the men have 2 and women. Am I the only one who thinks it should be the other way around?

Visited here for the first tim on Wed evening. My friends were already there and had alovely big table picked out and seated. Menus were quickly presented and drinks orders taken. I went for the steak sandwich with bearnaise sauce and my companions went for steak and the catch of the day. We were told it would be 15-20 mins for the food as it was cooked fresh and as we had lots to talk about we hardly noticed the time pass. It's a nice touch too, informing the client of the wait....Three main courses were delivered after 15 minutes and they were lovely. Generous portions, cooked to perefction and the chips in a paper cone on the side were a lovely touch. The wine by the glass are a little pricey. The dessert menus were present and we has two between three, while the apple tart was tasty the pecan brownie( with raisins) didn't live up to the otherwise excellent standard. A highly enjoyable meal in a lovely location, will be returning soon enough!

Wow, yum, delicious!! After being a menupages fan for ages, finally decided to use some points so booked for the 1500 points for burger offer. My expectations were not that good (no idea why!) and as it was for a Saturday lunch meal, really didnt mind. The decor was lovely and we were allowed to chose our seat. As it was early the place wasn't too busy. We made our server aware at the start we'd got our voucher for the part meal. I ordered their home juiced smoothie, strawberry & kiwi. Very fresh and tasty. For our burgers we decided to have one beef, one chicken, then half/share. Well, when it arrived, my eyes popped out... huge. The buns were toasted and so light, they were amazing. I preferred the beef one, which appeared home-made, again very tasty. Both meals were served with a novel cone of French fries as well as mayo, guacamole & salsa. Our server was polite, attentive and jovial. The total bill came to around 23 euros, which included smoothie and a Guinness. Also, we were very impressed that they're taken the dearer burger off the bill as part of the menupages deal. Superb. Highly recommend.

Ate here using a menu pages voucher and was deeply disappointed. The service despite coming with a smile was a disaster. We had to endure a fifteen minute wait to order and then a further fifteen minute wait to have our main course crockery to be cleared away. This was totally unacceptable as there were only about six other people in the restaurant with three staff on duty.. We both had a mushroom soup which was tasteless. My companion had a prawn pasta dish which she described as bland. I declined a main course and had a tiny panna cotta for desert. The restaurant lacked atmosphere its only redeeming factor was the great selection of music played. Based on todays visit I will not be returning here.

Ate here on saturday afternoon using the menupages deal. Food was great. Was absolutely stuffed at the end. The dessert was simply amazing. Best chocolate brownie I have ever had The waiter forgot our dessert but he was so apologetic and took 2 courses off our bill which was overly apologetic given we were using a voucher

I met a couple of friends here and I have to say it was better than expected. When I first arrived I thought that we where have pub grub, I didn't realise that the restaurant was at the back of the bar. The atmosphere was quite, it was quite early but as the evening went on the place really did start to pick up. The food was yummy but we where waiting a long even between each course and even for the start but that can be excused by the taste of the food itself. The service was good, the one thing I would say was that the staff really didn't come near us to see if we wanted more wine or water which is a good thing cos we ended up have only 1 bottle of wine!!!! Overall I think that this is a good spot, it's very centeral so you can go anywhere after your meal or indeed you could stay in the bar section that way you don't really have to move. You would have to try this place for yourself. Definatley worth a visit.

Went here because of a Menupoints Voucher - never been before, but looked forward to it because of the Westbury Hotel connection. Big disappointment ! Friday evening, and we were the only diners in the place. Absolutely no atmosphere. Waiting staff were helpful and friendly, but the food was poor. My goats cheese starter was very good, but wife's smoked salmon lacked flavour (tasteless was the word she used). Wife's sea bream was good, but I gave up on my steak after removing a mouthful of chewed meat - it was like chewing string ! Deserts were good, but the damage was done by then. A very nice bottle of wine, but the cheapest bottle available was just too expensive. Over-priced for indifferent food - definitely will not be back.

A girlfriend and I came here last night for 'one drink' and ended up being poured onto the pavement at closing. We loved the atmosphere and the service. Our cocktail waiter was excellent, and provided us with an unrivalled cocktail evening. Although I am not allowed to identify him, anyone with an eye for detail will see that he favours Grand Marnier which gives a deliciously unique twist to his drinks. Great for a girls night out, or a way to kickstart your evening, or in our case, say goodbye to the day before. One top tip: Ask this out of town waiter to create something special, if you have a favourite base then ask for it, we spent the night with completely new vodka concoctions that he created on the spot. Delicious and professional, will be making this a favourite venue and will most definitely be back.

Nice place, well decorated and relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. Perfect for lunch. The clientèle seemed to be mainly professionals, but it didn't deprive the place of some intimate atmosphere nonetheless. The food was good and well presented and the staff was very nice. We had a very nice lunch and I would return with friends.

Not my favourite place to eat. I found the seating uncomfortable for eating. It was quite drafty. When I mentioned this they told me there was nothing they could do so i put my jacket on. Food was OK nothing exciting.

This is a restaurant that has the class of the Westbury and the friendliness of your local pub. The service was excellent, really welcoming. The food was lovely and the staff actually went out of their way to cater for vegetarians by cooking a meal that was not on the menu. A big thumbs up!!!

I visited the restaurant with a friend as I had a menu pages voucher. Although it was part of the Hotel, it is not at all snobby. I found the two waiters friendly, efficient and the food was delicious. Our waiter listed off the specials and he went out of his way to get something not on the menu. The wine was light and went well with the meal. The music and atmosphere were chilled and I enjoyed the whole experience. Altough it was quite enough, there was a good atmosphere. I would definately return again and recommend to a friend. Good work guys.

I visited this bar/restaurant on a Friday night, when the atmosphere was relaxed and chilled out. There were a few other occupied tables, but the place wasn't very busy at all. The staff were efficient, and pleasant enough. There was a nice selection on the menu, which I felt was slightly overpriced. I chose the Caesar Salad for my main course, which was pretty run of the mill. There was nothing outstanding about it. The nice ambience in the place was nice, but the price of the dishes on both the food and wine menu probably would not represent value for money.

Care Novo is the ideal location for a casual dinner. I was here on a Friday evening and even on walking into the place you could sense the enjoyable and laid back atmosphere. The food was excellent too, I had the corn fed chicken which I thought was cooked perfectly, and the sauce it was served with complimented it nicely. The portion sizes were generous too and the presentation of the food on the plate was modern and appetizing. The staff were friendly but I did feel that they were quick to clear away and did not encourage lingering between courses etc so this disappointed me slightly. Apart from that though, I enjoyed it and will be going back there.

Cafe Novo was a good venue for Sunday lunch as there was a good mix of lighter dishes for those who had just surfaced as well as more substantial meals for those who had worked up more of an appetite. Those who were here for the first time commented they would add it to their list of dining spots. The cod and chips special of the day was good and the starters of soup, blue cheese and leek tart and chicken caesar salad were enjoyed. Though with starters at approx 10€ and mains at around 14€, I think the much larger mains are better value. The drinks (non alcoholic) really added to the bill. A resolution to stick to tap water only might be in order.

I was really looking forward to going to this restaurant after I had read some good reviews here. I was very disappointed though. The waitress was somewhat helpful when it came to choosing a bottle from the rather expensive winelist, however the quality of the food just wasn't worth the price. Definitely not the kind of standard I would expect from the Westbury hotel. I've had much better dining experiences for a fraction of the price. I don't think I'd go back again.

Came here with a friend during her work break. Had coffee and warm chocolate brownies. Service was very slack. Friend had to eventually go to the bar to order. Food was very good, tasty, warm and satisfying. Really don't like the cutlery - teaspoon with a kink in it so it sits on rim of cup. And the spoons for the brownies looked like a gynaecological implement! Overall very expensive for a Cafe. All style, no content. Won't be back.

Came here with my menu pages points and was looking forward to it from reading some of the reviews. I was disappointed the food was ok, the service very poor bar one waiter and the wine was expensive enough although for a city centre resturant probably the norm. I had ceaser salad to start and my boyfriend had the chowder both ok nothing special. We both choose the steak and the were cooked as ordered but were a little tough and dry, the accompanying salad and veg were not as listed on the menu and I choose the chip which I sent back as they were undercooked. My replacement mash took 10mins or so. There was a mixup with desert which to be honest imporved as it meant we got a laugh from the waiter who was good at his job. The other staff were not up to it wherther it was after a long Christmas period or lack of management I am not sure. Using the voucher took the sting out of it as if I had paid full whack for this I would have been unhappy. I will not be going again and would not recommend.

Bad service, poor food and dirty restaurant. Waiters rush your meal, clear plates while others eating - stand over you until finished. Mussels for main course still had the 'beards' on and were way over cooked, €4 for small portion of frozen chips was excessive. Toilets were filthy dirty and not cleaned regularily, vomit on the floor not cleaned up - a WET SURFACE sign was put over it!! Unfortunately a 1 star experience in a 5 star establishment came up well below expectations.

Dined here last night with a large group for our Christmas party. The food was top class. Everyone loved it! The drinks were good too and the prosecco with our meal was a nice touch. Festive - Thanks Cafe Novo. My only complaint was the seating plan. We sat on big massive armchairs so moving around was a pain. Top class service and I will definitely be back.

Will come to this place time and time again. Had a burger and it was top quality. Cocktails are very good too. Wine is quite expensive but the main courses are reasonable so it works out ok. They have changed the menu recently but it's for the better. Desserts are fabulous if you have a sweet tooth. Had the chocolate brownie with ice cream and it was delicious.

We had dinner here last night on our Menupoints & were absolutely delighted. From the moment we entered the service was top class. Our waiter was one of the most efficient we ever encountered. Starters were Chicken Caesar salad & Smoked Salmon then 2 Steak sandwiches for main course. Portions were huge but we still managed to put away a Knickerbocker Glory & an Orange Pannacotta for dessert. We also had Lemondrop Martinis, a bottle of red wine & 2 espressos. The total was €85 but would have been well worth the full price if we hadn't used our Menupoints voucher for a free starter, main course & dessert. Can't wait for a return visit.

Went here for a girlie night out, the atmosphere and service were great, two mains came out cold (i'm guessing because they were steak sandwiches they were cooked quicker than everything else) but when we told the waiter they took them back cooked fresh ones and didn't charge. so we can't really grumble about the delay. I like this place and will be coming back.

I can't say a bad word about this restaurant. In fact I will make a point of saying how great the staff are here. It was a Friday night, had booked through menu pages using menupoints to get a burger and were seated immediately. Not that it was too busy or anything but the staff were immediately aware of our presence and didn't leave us standing around. Drink orders were taken within 2 minutes and once the drinks were brought our order was taken. We both opted for burgers, partly because I had a voucher for one and also because we saw one ordered at another table and got the taste for it. I'm not going to go into every detail such as the quality of the beef, beautiful crust, excellent grind (not too tightly packed), great fresh toppings (you get the gist), all I'll say is that its the best buger I've ever had in Dublin. Far superior to other well known high falutin burger places and also much better fries. Presented excellently on neat wooden boards and please just go and try it.

I had a fabulous meal here thanks to my menupages voucher on Friday night. The atmosphere was great and staff were very attentive without swarming us! We had the cold meats platter to start which was presented beautifully. For mains I had the goats cheese tart which melted in my mouth and was hard to finish as It was so filling! My partner had a 'brilliant burger' which lived up to its name! They served all the sauces for the burger on the side which was nice as the buns weren't soggy that way! For dessert we had three beautiful scoops of ice cream presented on a plate with mixed berries. I will definitely be back to try it again as I feel although the prices are high you really get the best. My one complaint is that the winelist is a bit overpriced considering the range of wines on offer.

Went here on a Saturday evening and was very quiet, not much of an atmosphere as it was so quiet. I had the lobster bisque to start, the quarter pounder and creme brulee, everything was brilliant, my partner had the same and he enjoyed his. Service was quick and efficent, I used my menupoints to get my meal for free, but even with this the final bill came to around 60/65 euro, which i thought was very expensive

Popped in here for dinner on a Saturday evening, with my menupages points voucher for a free starter, main and desert. The decor is quite nice but there is very much a cafe-feeling/vibe, and it can get pretty noisey when its busy - not ideal for a romantic evening, or a quiet chat. The food was okay, but to be honest there is much better to be had at much better prices elsewhere in the city. If i didn't have the menupages voucher, the bill would have been ridiculously high for the standard of the food we were served. Also, the wine selection is pretty poor and again, very over-priced. The waiters/waitresses were very friendly though. Unfortunately i won't be back.

Visited here recently before I headed out for Culture Night as was keen to try it out and had a menu pages voucher for 3 courses. The waiter was great, attentive and knew about our voucher. The decor is very stylish and sleek and the restaurant is deceptively big. It was moderately busy for a Friday evening.I had the goats cheese salad for starters and it was delicious. The cheese was amazing as was the walnut pesto and caramelised red onion. My companion had the veggie wrap and was a bit disappointed. There wasn't enough veg in it and they didn't like the hummus they used.It was also a very small portion and certainly wouldn't fill you if you had it on its own for lunch (it was on the lunch menu). My main of vegetable tagliatelle was also a little disappointing. While it tasted nice, there was virtually no veg in it.It was just a huge bowl of creamy pasta with 3 or 4 small pieces of mushroom and courgette. After my divine starter, I expected better from the description of the dish on the menu.If you like creamy pasta you will like this dish but I prefer some veg added. My companion luved their goats cheese tart which had very similar ingredients to my goats cheese starter and came with balsamic wedges. We shared a dessert of lemon tart which was very nicely balanced but came with a strawberry and blueberries instead of the raspberries mentioned on the menu.Overall the meal was very good value with my Menu Pages voucher but their prices are not too steep anyway. Will be back again for their amazing goats cheese, pesto and caramelised red onion.

Really nice menu, and though it doesn't look very inviting form outside it's actually really nice inside. Staff are great, actually got to use my Menupages points which was fab, but I have to say I have had better fish and chips, which is a shame as it's such a good lunch staple - I just don't understand why somewhere would not make nice, real, homemade chunky chips? so easy! I'll go again but try something else.

Nice decor was what I thought when I walked in. what else would I expect being in the Westbury I suppose. Myself and my friend were seated at one of the may empty tables. I was suprised the place was so empty as it was lunchtime. The soup and wrap was very tasty I must admit and reasonably priced. Bit of an accident by the waiter put a dampner on things however as he spilt the soup on my friend and in her shopping bag. The manager discounted our meal somwehat and offered to dry clean my friend's top. Don't know if i would go back :-/

I came here last week with my own menupages voucher. On that Friday night, the restaurant was only half empty and we got to choose between 2 tables. We picked the one by the window. The service was great and the waitresses here are very friendly. For starter I had a chicken walnut salad which was huge. The menu said it was served with mustard dressing but it tasted more mayonnaise to me. The chicken wasn't grilled but were pan fried. I enjoy nonetheless. My hubby chose a goat cheese which had tomatoes and onions confit. For main it was the indian green curry with plenty of chicken chunks. It was served with small nan bread and steamed rice. I liked the flavour. We were so stuffed by the end of that but we managed to try their famous dessert the Knickerbockerglory. For those who doesn't know it's served in a tall glass with jelly on the bottom, some mixed berries top up with 3 scoops of ice cream and finish up with whipped cream. Dessert was great and we will be back to try it.

i went here for a mid-week dinner after work, therefore the atmosphere was somewhat lacking. However, the service was great and the food quite decent. I got the mussels to start, which were nothing to write home about but still enjoyable. For main I got the beer battered hake, which was well cooked, and the chips were delicious. Its reasonable price and great location, as a part of the Westbury, just off Grafton street, made this a better than average meal and a very enjoyable evening.

We used Cafe Novo as a city centre lunchtime spot today and it lived up to expectations. The airy venue creates a good atmosphere with the option of either having lunch in the cafe section or the bar section depending on what views you want. Service was not intrusive, which helps when on a short lunch, and the order arrived without delay. Between us we had the Shepherd's Pie and the Chicken & Walnut salad, and they couldn't be faulted. Worth a go!

Great experience last Thursday at Cafe Novo. Our burgers and salads came out nicely done and the ice-cream was among the best I have had in Dublin in a while. The concept of this resto/bar/cafe/ice-cream parlour is excellent- bit of everything to suit eveybody's tastes at all times. I will definitely be hanging around this place more often and recommending it to friends too. Well done!

Brilliant service, divine burgers, strategic location, posh ambience.I cant ask for more.Lost my bet,so I had to treat my mate to some good ol comfort book.Brought him here for burger mania. He simply loved the burgers here.He went for the full works as that is given anybody would love it.I was slightly more adventurous and went for the blue cheese burger which was simply yum.The blue cheese which has a savoury taste definitely made the burger more scrumptious.Sadly, they covered the plasma screen with a ginormous picture for some peculiar reason.Perhaps come couples werent paying each other sufficient attention.

brought two friends to share my menupoints of a free starter main and dessert. We shared a chicken and walnut salad for starters; delicious. We ordered a main each: salmon fishcakes, vegetarion sandwich and the chicken burder; again all delicious. We shared a carrot cake for dessert. Service was extremely slow, and without the voucher would have been very expensive, but food is lovely for a nice treat!

I visited here with 3 other girls for some lunch, as it was nice we sat outside - did take sometime for someone to notice and bring out some menu's, other then that the food was really nice, I had the super salad came with chips, nice but the best thing is the desserts, I had the lemon cake and it was really good. The price overall is a little high but this is what you would expect for the location of this cafe. The bar at the front does a lovely bottle of proscecco for 30e when was v handy when my friend told us she had got engaged.

I booked a meal for 2 in Cafe Novo through menu pages and using my menupages voucher which is a fantastic offer of 3 courses free in exchange for 2000 points !! It was my first time to visit the Cafe but it won't be my last. The athmosphere was very relaxed and casual, service was excellent, with 2 of the staff making recommendations to us at different times, we followed their advice and were not dissapointed. We were left to eat in peace, yet they were there if we needed them. Food was delicious, cooked to perfection and portions were very ample indeed. I would like to return with a group of friends and sample a few more dishes ....

Two of us went here for dinner on a Wednesday evening, the place was very quiet with just a few diners. I ordered the super salad for start and the south indian curry for mains. Both were very nice! The salad was a big enough portion for a main if you added a meat to it but tasted good. Was pretty stuffed after the curry so we just shared a dessert, lemon drizzle cake. Overall this place is reasonable for food, mains at about E14. My only gripe was the cheapest bottle of wine there was E29, not good value by any means. Nonetheless staff were very nice and food was good. I will return

Used my menu points here, free starter, main and dessert. The waitress was lovely. She had good knowledge of the menu and was able to recommend dishes. We both had salads to start. They were lovely and fresh and portions were very generous. I had the baramundi for main and my friend had the curry. Both were very good. We shared the lemon drizzle cake for dessert. Overall a very pleasant experience, will definitely return.

Had a really lovely meal here last week with my sister. The staff were really lovely, very friendly and helpful when deciding what to choose from the menu. Food was delicious and the wine was scrumptious and not too expensive. We had enough Menupages Points to avail of the "Buy one Starter, Main Course & Dessert and get another free" so felt like we got a right bargain. Great spot if you wanted to explore the delights of Grafton Street either before or after your visit. Will be returning for sure.

I cashed in my points for a 3 course meal here last week. I’m glad I did because it really was the best meal I have had in a long time. Everything was great – service, surroundings and food. Instead of a desert had a gorgeous blueberry smoothie and also had the superfood salad to start - big portion and very fresh. Then had the catch of the day – sea bream – it was delicious and a tasty side salad completed the meal. I’m just sorry I didn’t know about the place before but I would recommend it and I will definitely return

If you are in hurry, skip this place but if you want an oasis in the middle of the city that allows you to look out at the hustle-bustle yet enjoy a place to rest the vary feet, grab a nice cocktail, put some food into the belly, this is a good spot. The food is decent- the falafels are nothing to write home about, but the polenta chips are an excellent side dish. The service is slow, no one here seems to be in any hurry and for some reason, it goes with the atmosphere of the place. So next time, you want a glass of the bubbly and a not-totally-gourmet-but-above-average bite, head to Cafe Novo! The afternoon special for coffee and cake rocks- wish they would extend the hours for that- I would be there all the time then :)

Wow, what a hidden gem i have found, It so happened my parents were in town and they keep saying that Dublin doesn't have any good restaurants. I planned to take them to Saba one of my favorite restaurant. When we were walking there we passed my the Westbury hotel and decided to have a drink in their bar. Me and my mom enjoyed couple of martini's and Mojito's while dad decided to keep his faith with his much loved pint of Guinness. While there one of the staff (i think his name was peter) asked us how we were doing and offered us some menu to see. My mom was impressed with the Menu for Cafe Novo and we decided to try this restaurant. We were escorted to the restaurant. We entered the restaurant to the lovely sound of live jazz music, And my parents were right away impressed. We were offered a nice table by the window by a lovely lady who also offered us water and took the drink order. For starters we had chicken and walnut and the special Cafe Novo Ceaser salads, and for the main dad had a burger what they called 'The full Works' ( He loved it, never seen him so happy to have a burger and compliment it), while mom ordered the catch of the day , I had Grilled Courgette And Red Pepper Wrap. We loved it. The ambiance the music the friendly staff worked just perfect. To top it all we all had Knickerbockerglory for our desert and it was delicious. I think i have indeed found a hidden gem for a restaurant this place has really impressed me and i will be going there the coming weekend with the gals and would definitely recommend this place, the food is great and the staff are friendly and the ambiance is relaxed.

We visited Café Novo to use our Menupoints voucher of free starter, main and dessert on Sunday. A fantastic offer- and even though I had accidentally booked for the wrong day they had no problem accepting the voucher! The food was delicious- we shared the free starter- faultless smoked salmon. My husband had the steak for main- he was delighted- it was big and perfectly cooked. My blue cheese burger was spot-on. The desserts were a bit hit and miss- his Creme Brulee was a hit, my triple chocolate mousse (for over the top €8.50) was a miss. It looked chocolatey, but it didn't really taste it. The service was fine- friendly and accomodating. The atmosphere was alright- although it was quite empty when we arrived, it filled up quickly, and there was a good buzz. We'll be back!

Recenlty visited Novo on a twork night out - they were excellent. Catered for all different tastes and a special cocktail offer of €6 oer mojitio! Who could ask for more? We have the platters to start which were great but very filling! I had catch of the day which was excellent. Some people didn't like the fish and chips but overall opinion was very positive. We arrived at 6:00 PM and left at 2:00 AM so a great night was had by all. Nice place, good food and great place for a group night out

I thought the food might be a little disappointing as the dark and dated decor didn't look so good at lunchtime but no, the food was very good. The burger, even without all the trimmings, was very tasty and the fish cakes with rocket salad and butter caper sauce was delicious. Really enjoyed it!

I went there for a girls night and was completely surprised as we never aware of such a nice cafe right beside the Westbury Hotel. It is a quite but modern design restaurant with very friendly staffs. The Sheperds Pie i ordered was good but i was more interested to my friends' dishes, which were the Rib Eye Steak and the catch of the day, SeaBream. The fried polenta fries were so cute and the salads were so fresh. I'll definitely come back again and I'm also going to try its hi-tea menu.

Very trendy brasserie, comfy chairs, friendliest staff - had all of the signs of a good experience, until some of the dishes arrived. My mug of prawns cocktail was tasty and came on a breadboard with 2 slices of brown bread. His lobster bisque was smooth & creamy. Both opted for burgers for main courses - his Big Blue was going down well, even if the patty was on the small side, it came with juicy tomato & lettuce. My falafel was a bit of a disaster. Large tasteless patty that tasted like deep fried sawdust, very disappointing - totally lacked herbs & spices, no coriander or cumin. Shared a desert of chocolate mousse with coffee & walnut icecream. Mousse didn't taste home-made and had a synthetic taste to it. The icecream had large lumps of ice crystals in it too. Based on the great reviews here, i'm hoping that we just made a few poor choices and will be willing to try it another time.

I am sometimes a bit wary about hotel cafes and restaurants. More often than not, they seem to have an impersonal feel to them, as if their only purpose is to squeeze even more money out of the pockets of their clients, skimpimg on quality, taste, and interior, with sprawling dining rooms and mediocre food. A lunchtime trip to Cafe Novo has restored my faith in hotel eateries though. With a chic and trendy interior with leather tub chairs and a stylish bar, and relaxing music playing in the backround, you can people watch by the large windows as you choose from a wide range of dishes (at good prices). The staff couldn't have been nicer. I presented my menupages voucher for a maincourse, and they were fine with my request for a salad and smoothie instead. I was also offered an Irish Times while I waited for my food, which, when it arrived, was lovely (a 'superfood' chicken salad, and a pretty raspberry and mango smoothie, cute american style glass with straws and all...). I'll definitely be back.

Came here with my partner thanks to my Menupages voucher and was very impressed. The service was impeccable. To start we shared a mezze plate which was tasty if a little on the small side. The main courses were the main attraction and they did not disappoint. I got a delicious chicken burger with salsa etc. The meat was perfectly flavoured and the range of accompanying dips and sauces was very satisfying. My partner opted for one of the beef burgers and was also very satisfied. We enjoyed these with a good bottle of red wine. The only quibble I'd have is that the wine list could be more reasonably priced and should include more affordable bottles. That said, we left feeling very satisfied; much helped by the fact that the staff were so attentive and accommodating. Although the Menupages voucher covered a free glass of wine and we had a bottle instead the manager was very fair in making sure that the discount was taken off nonetheless. This ensured that we didn't leave with a bad taste in our mouth. Excellent service and well-cooked food in a warm, spacious and relaxed environment. Recommended.

Came with the boyfriend on a Friday after work. We had very nice cocktails, at a very competitive price, at the bar before we were shown to our seats. Our waitress was very attentive, knowledgeable and not pushy, providing a very relaxed but prompt service. I had the steak which was cooked to my liking and accompanied very nicely with tomatoes, mushroom and chips that me and the boyfriend agreed to be one of the best we've had. The boyfriend had the Irish Cheese plate, which he thoroughly enjoyed with a very good choice of Chilean white wine recommended by our waitress. We had been seated by the windows overlooking Clarendon St and felt comfortable in this central yet secluded establishment. The ambience, decor and vibe complemented our meals very well, providing a wholesome dining experience. Will definitely come back to try out the menu and will definitely be telling our friends of this place!

A lovely place to for a relaxed Sunday lunch. There is a great atmosphere and the service is friendly. My friend had the steak sandwich and although it was the most expensive one she’d ever had it was top notch. I went straight for dessert which was very nice. The place is pricey but good if you feel like a treat.

Lovely, relaxed vibe for a bite on Sunday. Warm and cosy with, nice comfy chairs, live music, but not intrusive and staff very friendly. Used my meupoints here for free main and wine, it will great. We had chicken fillet burger and the sauces come in dipping dishess so you have the choice of what to put on your burger, swamed fries for red onion potatoes no problem (a little too oiley but nice flavour). Cod with potatoes and salad (again a little too much olive oil on salad) Definitely return for a light, relaxed bite away from the madness of Grafton st... maybe try the sheppard's pie and beef burger next time!

Visited here on a Fri nite with 2 pals and thought it was super! Was v quiet for a Fri but we enjoyed it. We shared 2 breads for starters (delish) and then I had the grilled chicken burger with the most amazing mango chutney! My pals had the burger which they found among the best in Dublin! Lovely seville orange ice cream as dessert, and topped off with some cool cocktails! Perfect for a Fri nite!

Absolutely, loved this restaurant! When we arrived we were greated with a complimentary glass of prosecco, a great start to the evening. For starters we shared flatbread which was very tasty. For mains, I had the chicken with potatoes & red onion, which were amazing. My partner had the steak ( of which he is still raving about). Dessert was nice, a lemon start. Not only was the food excellent, the service was also outstanding. The atmosphere was lovely and the cocktails in the bar out the front were also made to perfection! Would definitely recommend this restaurant and we will be returning very soon.

My boyfriend took me there for my b'day. I had heard really bad things about this restaurant so I wasnt very happy with his choice. But I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The food was excellent and I had the Bailey's milkshake that it was fantastic. We started with a cheese entree that had a good selection of cheeses and a very yummy chutney and also grapes. Burgers followed and they were very chunky and perfectly cooked to our request. The chips were hand cut also. We skipped dessert as we were extremely full but had a couple cappuccinos that were really well made. The bill came up to 55 euro which was good value, not the cheapest but good for once in a while

I decided to try Cafe Novo for lunch with my partner a couple of weeks back. Love the set up and vibe of the place. We we're given a complimentary glass of prosecco each because they had a large booking they wanted to inform us of before we arrived. We started with the goat's cheese salad and the bacon and potatoe bread with dips. OMG, amazing! Both so tasty. For main we had a burger and chicken. Big sizes and extremely tasty. Very reasonably prices and excellent service. Would definitely be back for lunch and for dinner.

I visited Cafe Novo as part of a group of four last weekend. While I was very impressed with the service as usual, the food was somewhat of a let down on this ocassion. Two of us had the beer battered fish, which curiously came in 3 pieces instead of one large piece as I would have expected. The fish hadn't been properly drained after being deep fried and as a result was very oily and unpleasant. The fries which accompanied were fine. Another of the group had the burger which was served on a wooden board, this proved difficult to eat from and he wasn't impressed by it. The only one of our group who was pleased with their food had the shepherds pie, and finished it all. The smoothie I had was quite nice, and I would reccomend trying these as they're freshly made to order. I'm not sure how much the final bill was as I wasn't paying, and there were other drinks ordered aswell, but I felt the food wasn't up to its usual standard. That said, I've never ordered that fish dish before, and usually stick to the steak sandwich which I've always found to be very good. Again, hats off to the waiting staff, they are among the nicest and most obliging I've come accross in Dublin.

Very impressive!! The dinning room is spacious, tastfully decorated and comfortable. The menu has great variety. I had the catch of the day which was a perfectly cooked salmon darn, polenta chips and salad,I had a taste of my friends chicken dish which was also lovley, portion sizes were perfect no need to order sides. Ice-cream for desert was excellent as was the lemon tart.Coffee was extreamly over priced, that aside, Staff were professional and friendly and the overall bill was reasonalbe. Id deffinitly recommend to friend.

I dined here on a Thursday evening with a friend and had a very pleasant time. The decor and ambience is very cool without trying too hard. The staff were efficient and knowledgable about the menu and were able to answer any queries without running back to the kitchen. I had the fennel and prawn salad for starters.I was a little disappointed - although it was fresh and crunchy there wasn't much flavour and the prawns were tiny (reminded me of the cheap frozen ones from Tesco!). However, my friends smoked duck salad was delicious and made me very envious. My friends main of pan fried salmon and polenta chips was well cooked but nothing amazing. My main of seared barramundi with noodles and thai broth was very tasty. The fish itself was beautiful - very delicate - although it was in danger of being lost among the strong flavours of the thai broth. All of this was accompanied by a fantastic bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (€40) - a little pricey but absolutley worth it. I will definitely be coming back again.

I ate here, using my menupoints voucher, with a friend the other night. I had the blue cheese burger which was delicious and very well presented. The portion was massive. My friend had the daily catch of salmon with polenta chips. It was nice, but nothing special. its not cheap, if you dont have a voucher, but i'd probably go back for a burger again

We went to Cafe Novo after reading good reviews on this site and to use our menu points. We were very pleased with the food and it is a very nice, comfortable restaurant. The staff were very nice but a bit over attentive. My partner really loved his fish and chips and my pasta was lovely. I was delighted to see banana fritters on the menu and they were delicious!

Went to use my menupoints, and had a lovely evening. Great location, and great food. We both had burgers which were presented really well, with sauces,a nd chips in a seperate fancy container. Between 14 and 17 for a burger with chips whch i think is good value, considering the locationa dn surrounding. Will definatley return.

Visited last night with four friends, having seen the reviews here on menupages, and we weren't disappointed. Lovely venue, comfortable chairs, nice athmosphere and attentive service. Food was devine - I had the cajun chicken burger, which came on a bun with salad garnish, three different sauces served seperately (nice touch), and a portion of chips for 14 euro. Portion was generous and I couldn't finish it all. Managed to find room for dessrt though, clotted cream and raspberry icecream, which was lovely. Will definitely return!

A restaurant in the heart of the busy city centre, yet in calm comfortable surroundings. Drinks were on the expensive side but food, though portions were moderate, was reasonable for dinner time. The menu selection was quite good so I think I'd like to return here to try out a few more dishes.

Stopped in here while doing some shopping. I was impressed with the decor, its very classy. My daughter had a perfectly sized portion of chicken dippers, and my partner had a club sandwich. The only downfall was that the waitress taking our order was a little scattered, firstly forgot her notepad, then came back but had forgotten her pen.

Met the girls here for Saturday lunch. It was my first time eating at Cafe Novo and we were not disappointed. Food was absolutely delicious, service excellent and we sat and chatted over a bottle of wine in a relaxed atmosphere after eating. Whist the food was good value for money, i felt the house wine was a little overpriced. Overall a great dining experience and would defo go back!

I wrote a review about this place back in March and now, after trying more restaurants, I just want submit another one just to confirm that this place is still my favourite place in town. The service is awesome, all the waiters are very friendly, cheerful while polite and professional, definetely the best asset of this place. The decoration is very stylish and different from what we are used here in Dub and the comfort of the chairs just hook you in there, not realising of how fast the time passes by. But the last time I've been in there I was gladly surprised when I saw that they added new dishes to the menu. I have to highlight the chicken breast and the Blue irish cheeseburgers! superb! But the cherry on top was when we moved to the bar and there was a cool dj playing until late! That along the bargain promotional price for the cocktails at €8 helped us to have one of our greatest nights. All the group of friends we are planning to go back soon for our Xmas dinner party! Well done guys!

My family & I had a very poor experience here. We went there for lunch based on previous positive reports from people & my brother was atying in the Westbury. It was so so slow & as it was lunchtime all we were having was light food, I'd hate to think what it was like at nightime. The food, when it came, was cold, the service was very poor & I would certainly not be returning

Went here on Sat and used my menu points for the first time! WAS apprehensive at first, thinking it would be a bit too posh. How wrong can you be?? The service was superb, possibly the best I have ever had. The food was delicious and very reasonable. I highly recommend the potato and bacon flat bread and the steak. Although my husband had the steak sandwich and the bread almost hid the steak! Not enough steak in it for the price. However, that is the only downside. An absolutely great experience and we cant wait to go back. The house wine was nicer than most wines you would choose from an expensive list. Get to Cafe Novo.

I was wary of this place, simply because it was in the Westbury and I thought it was going to be too 'posh' and too overpriced but my friend assured me it was neither and she was so right... this place is a gem! The food is normal prices for Dublin city centre, but it is of such a high standard - i got the seabream as catch of the day - unbelieveable. so tasty and just the right amount for lunch. my mum got the shephards pie - melt in the mouth and for €11 it was huge and an absolute bargain! The coffees were delicious too, accompanied by a very fancy spoon! waiting staff were friendly and efficient, I'm just trying to think of a chance when I can go back there! Definitely one of the best eats I've had in Dublin at a good price and I will be back.

I have to say thanks to MenuPages for introducing me to this place, I would have never known about it, and would have thought it too posh and expensive: it's not!! Decor is fantastic, staff is super, food is so well presented and tasty, but the prices are affordable!! Such a lovely place, had a great dinner. The Manager was really helpful and friendly, and so were the waitresses. Had a brilliant burger for free thanks to Menupages, plus the Mezze and Polenta chips, really really good! cant wait to go back and try desserts! And they've lots of tasty milkshakes!

I really really liked this restaurant. The decor was fantastic. The layout was amazing. I really liked the fact that they had old black and white movies playing on the screen. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful. The food was nothing short of spectacular. It was so tasty. The starter was excellent, main course was excellent and dessert was alaso excellent. Its quite a pricey restaurant but the food is well worth it.

Loved the venue and the staff were really nice and friendly. The food was very good the chicken and beef were very tasty and the smoothie to order was very tasty! The only two drawbacks were that after looking forward to the famous novo fries and they were merely frozen chips no seasoning, not fries, not wedges just plain frozen chips! The wine was rather pricey for a very average vintage - though it was a big shame and a let down..

I really like this place, its a great location. The only thing is you wouldnt know it existed unless someone lets you in on the secret!!! i have brought several members of my family here on different occasions and all of them love it including me. I like how its airy and bright, the service is good and the food is really good. Its at a reasonable price for that part of town and it's a Westbury restaurant. This is a great place for a lunch after shopping.

Was here last night with a friend for his birthday and we absolutely loved it. We just had mains and a desert with coffee. We both chose the crispy fried squid with fries. The fries were devine and were presented in a newspaper shaped cone, the squid itself was a little rubbery prehaps a little over done but quite good on taste. When myself and my companion on deciding whether to have desert or not (as we were quite full), I said to him sure go on it's your birthday. The lady who was waiting on us for the evening overheard our conversation and recommened the nicest of deserts for my mate the toffee and walnut ice cream with banana fritters and I chose the creme brulee a regular favourite of mine. When it came to the bill I had noticed that the deserts had not been added and when the waitress had noticed the look of confusion on my face she simply replied oh the deserts are on us for your friends birthday our way of saying happy birthday. I thought what an incredibly nice touch given the fact we are in the middle of a recession. I will definitely be going back for many reasons but the biggest reason the staff are brilliant and so friendly.

2nd time visit this time for a friend’s 30th Birthday. Although there was a few of us the service was excellent. We went with combo platters to start and the only complaint was there wasn’t enough and then I had a veggie pasta dinner for my main which was lovely. Over all I thought the food was just nice but it’s the service, atmosphere and great cocktails that makes this a must go place for a night out…keep a watch out for the salsa dancers not sure if that is a regular Saturday night thing but great to watch while sipping cosmos!

Went here last night for a quick bite. Lovely venue and nice surroundings, it is quite an airy and private venue. The menu has a nice selection of dishes. I just had a main course which was shepards pie with some veggies. It took ages before it was served but quite tasty, but a bit overcooked. A glass of wine starts at seven euro which I thought was a bit pricey. The service was poor considering there was no one else in the restaurant! A bit lacking in atmosphere but it could be because it was a Monday evening. Would go again to give it another chance.

First time visitor to Cafe Novo but will definitely be going back. Great food and relaxing atmosphere. This is a really nice restaurant located in the Westbury Hotel so very central as well as reasonably priced. They didn't mind that we just wanted starters and deserts, in fact, the service was some of the best I have experienced in Dublin for many a long day. Fabulous place.

This was my second time visiting Novo, I'd been back in November and thought it was well overdue a re-visit. It just so happened my birthday was coming up so I picked here as the restaurant to celebrate in with fourteen friends. As expected the food, service and atmosphere were great. We all shared a number of platters between us to start then a main followed by some birthday cake for dessert. I had the Hake for main and really enjoyed it. The new addition of a Cuban night in the bar on Saturdays proved a lot of fun once we all finished out meal and really started tucking in to the Mojitos!

I went to Cafe Novo again on Saturday 28th March for some light lunch and a few drinks! - Service was excellent and after lunch we stayed on and relaxed by the window with some cocktails. It is most def my fav place to visit when in Dublin City with friends. Very impressed with the new Cafe Novo, the decor is very tasteful - arrived early enough with my partner for dinner and it seemed very quiet but by 9:30pm there wasn't a table free! I had the prawn starter and for mains I had 3 crab cakes. Would love to try the seafood platter so I will be back with a larger group next time - really want to know where the bought the photography on the walls, they are amazing!!!

Visited last nite for a friends birthday. We went for a set menu with a combo of platters to start. Food was excellent, however the platters were quite small. Chose the burger for mains which was presented well on a bread board and came accompanied with guacamole & salsa, delicious. Cocktails were on special for €8 which was great. Fantastic atmosphere, cool chic decor, and enjoyed the salsa dancing they had after dinner. Will defo be back to try the rest of the menu.

Had dinner with 5 friends in Cafe Novo on Friday evening. We were all very impressed. The staff were attentive and very obliging. As a table of 6 or more we were given a free bottle of prosecco (this is a standard offer) and the wine list was also quite varied. The food was excellent and was served without delay. The desserts were a particular hit among our group. Overall we had an excellent dining experience in this stylish and relatively inexpensive restaurant. I will definitely recommend it to others.

I found Cafe Novo to be a nice place to eat. The setting is lovely, the staff are really friendly and even the manager comes to see you are satisfied. They were very good with adapting the starters for us to split between myself and my friend and advised us on the size of the main courses etc. The only reason I would deduct a star is because they only have one vegetarian option on the evening menu. I think if they were to acquire a few more vegetarian dishes it's clientele would grow even more

Decided to venture here again after a few previous visists. We enjoyed excellent service however the waitress did know us as regulars, could be different if you were not regular. I previously had the calamari, chewy and to be avoided. This time I had the steak sandwich, not worth it really. Bernaise sauce was horrid. I do like this space for being quiet and being sure of good service, That is about it, unfortunately.

I visited Cafe Novo recently, and was reasonably surprised at what a nice space the restaurant is, compared with the majority of "new" city centre Dublin spots which tend to come flat-pack with cheap looking chrome and ubiquitous glass block. Cafe Novo's menu, while perhaps trying too hard to please every palate, is a refreshing change from the usual lazy approach of trying to cover all the bases and covering none of them well. I started with some flat bread with bacon and potato. The bread was on the dy side and the bacon and potato was balancing on top instead of having been incorporated into the baking process which the menu suggested. This was followed by the lamb kofta kebab which was moist and tasty, and on a zingy bed of tabouleh which was light and tasty. Regarding atmosphere, the place was worryingly empty for a Thursday night, and really didn't deserve to be. Service was, accordingly, very efficient. Overall, a positive experience, and if a similar effort were to be made by other establishments, Dublin might drag itself even further out of the culinary gutter than it already has.

I was dying to go there and went for lunch. But I read their menu wrongly. I thought they serve soup and bread but actually they have only soup with wrap/sandwich or just a big bread. I told them I just wanted to have a soup and bread, not with sandwich so they served me what I wanted which was very kind but I was charged €7.25. I had to eat there because I didn't have much time. I hope they have soup and bread menu around €5. Service was very good but I think it's too dark to eat lunch.

Me and my girlfriends went to Cafe Novo last night for drinks and platters. It's the second time I went to cafe Novo, I now officially love it! The coktails were amazing... made with fresh fruit and all... and the meat and fish platters were perfect to start our night out! Great service in a nice, relaxed yet funky atmosphere. Cafe Novo, I'll be back!!!

Orders were mixed up and food ranged from poor to mediocre. Restaurant was drafty and empty.Menu was ambitious, trying to be a jack of all trades but ends up a master of none. Staff were pleasant although clearly inexperienced at waiting tables and managing customers. I would strongly urge people not to waste their money.

Had a meal with a group of friends recently in this restaurant and frankly would caution anyone in visiting the place. The Thai "Beef" Salad starter had one piece of beef in it so had to be sent back. 2 of the main courses were not cooked to order. Instead of medium rare one steak was very well cooked. By the time the steaks were returned, everyone else was well finished. The prawn main was disappointing. The deep fried calamari was a little over cooked. The french fries a little under cooked. There was sugar mixed in with the salt. With only circa 20 people in the restaurant I can only imagine what the food would be like on a busy night..... but then again maybe it was not busy for a reason.

Enjoyable! Meet a friend of mine after work one day after work here and enjoyed it. We had a couple of glasses of wine outside before going in for dinner. Food was tasty although to be honest I think slightly overpriced but for where it is, I suppose it is ok. Not the best restuarant I have ever been to but will definitely go back

By far the best restaurant I have been to in a very long time. Went here last friday evening with a group of girls for dinner and a few cocktails. The restaurant was full and had a great vibe to it. We had the "grazing platters" to start with which were very unique and equally tasty. Our main course and desserts were also really tasty. We found the service to be efficient and our server was very knowledgable on the menu and helped make reccommendations when placing our orders. After dinner we moved into the bar section for some cocktails. They have some great cocktails on offer - we especially enjoyed their make your own mojito's! The overall experience was great and will definitely be making this a regular weekend venue.

I went here yesterday for lunch on the recommendations on this website and was horrified. First of all the waitress hadn't a clue what was on the menu. I asked for the crayfish and rocket on granary bread and she told me it was prawns in wrap! I asked for it without the sauce and this wasn't possible as it was already made up!! I asked then if it was not made up fresh and she said it was. What a contradiction!! Then the water came full of dirt in it. It was really terrible and if water can't be clean I would be very nervous about eating or drinking anything here. So we left obvoiusly and I wouldn't recommend anyone to go here. Honestly much better places nearby and clean!

Visited here for lunch for the first time with my girlfriend and Mother who was visiting from the UK. We were pleasently greeted at the door and shown to the dinning area at the back of the restaurant. There were quite few seats available and the waitress asked us where we would like to be seated, very polite and very professional. We ordered two club sarnies and a burger along with a portion of fries and soft drinks. The drinks arrived promptly with the correct ice/no ice combinations requested, something we have found strangely difficult for some other restaurants. Although we had to wait a bit longer than usual for our food we were told in advance that the burger takes a bit longer to make and cook. The wait was well worth it as the food and the presentation were excellent. We will be returning soon, hopefully for an evening session when we can sample the drinks menu too. My only slight grumble is that it is not cheap,€70 for lunch with no booze, but that is a very minor issue.

We went here for lunch/brunch. It was a sunday around 2. The brasserie was quiet enough, but staffed well for what was there. We were sat quiet quickly and when i asked for a 4 top (table for 4 even though there were only two of us. I like the space), there wasnt a problem. Crockery cutlery all cool and modern, the small glass seal lid jars for the sugar and sweetner i thought were different and more hygenic, my girlfriend didnt know why but "just didnt like them" Order for drinks were quickly offered followed by a well trained waiter taking our order, without the waiter's vital tool, the "peann", one thing that does always annoy me as the chance of forgetting the little extras we all wish for and regularly have to do without due to this lack of tools. Although todays waiter had the competency we all got what we desired. I had the crab cakes to start which were delicious but had a little too much potato, luckily i like potato. The eggy caper sauce was perfect with the rocket and crab cakes. My girlfriend had the recommended rosemary flatbread as the bacon bread was off for the day. It was lovely as with most of her meals i would eat half of it. The bread was served warm with a small ramekin of black and green olives. Personnally i would have served pitted olives to save the diner wondering where to discard the stones but tasty nonetheless . Now for the mains, i had the steak sandwich with a bearnaise sauce. My girlfriend had the new style club sandwich. The steak sandwich was one of the best i have had in a long time maybe in my life and i've had my fair share. The steak was not a sliver but a medium sized sirloin. It was cooked obviously always medium rare as i was not asked for my liking but it was perfect. The caramalised onion, slight mayonaisse along with the bearnaise sauce was simply mouthwatering. Along with the sandwich was a parchment paper funnel of perfectly cooked chips.

Really great addition to Dublin City Centre Dining. Although quiet enough, it was the second week in January when we visited, so its to be expected. Lovely, fresh food and good prices. Decor casual yet stylish. Will definately return.

Visited here for some after-shopping drinks and nibbles. The service is some of the best in Dublin. The smiling waiting staff led us to our table, and did not mind that only half of our group were eating. Myself and a friend shared the Fish sharing platter, and a duck confit and Chorizo salad. The sharing plate was decadent and tasty, with more than enough for two people. We also shared a bottle of well priced white wine. The food is excellent and reasonably prices. The place is glamorous, and has a great buzz. Perfect for catching up with friends. The no booking policy, and large seating area means you don't have to wait long for a table. I'm planning to go again soon.

I had lunch in Cafe Novo last Saturday, and I really enjoyed it. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. I will definitely return even if it is only for the steak sandwich, its gorgeous!!

My new favourite restaurant.... Have dined in Cafe Novo several times now and have had excellent food and service on every occassion. I find this restaurant to be exceptionally good value for money and the place has a great lively atmosphere. Judging by the popularity ( it is busier and busier every time we go there ) this could definitely be the next best restaurant in Dublin !! Well worth a visit.

I popped out there after a hit and miss choice along grafton street with a friend who called on me last saturday. Place was pretty packed so in the meantime we decided to have a cocktail in the bar. I went for a mojito and my girl tasted a cosmopolitan, both well mixed and served. They gave us a cool gadget with a light on it, which turned on when the table was available. Once seated, we fancied a meat platter, top notch and immaculately presented. Desserts were also very yummy. Despite the place was really busy, service was excellent and very attentive. I will definitely be back soon.

My second visit to the Cafe Novo, the first for breakfast was every bit as good as expected. It isn't, however, a place to go to if you are in a hurry. It is a place for a leisurely breakfast. Food is nicely presented by courtious staff. Good value for money

We were at the Cafe Novo and it was great. Very nice people who work over there. They give good advise what to choose to eat and what to drink. The food and the wine were perfect! We will be back! Willem and Tineke Hack

I came here on the back of really good reviews on this site and have to admit that I had high expectations. The food was ok which was disappointing as I think there is the potential for the food to be excellent. The really bad thing was the service. It was utterly lacking. We waited for a good 20 mins after being seated and given menus for someone to take our order. If they were busy I could understand but we could see about 6 staff just standing in the waiting station. The whole meal we waited for the staff to notice us and they messed up orders repeatedly. I will try again on a busy day and hope to recreate the experience so many on this site have had.

I had brunch in Cafe Novo this morning and I was very disappointed. The service was terrible! we sat for over 10 minutes and in the end we had to ask for a menu. They made a number of simple mistakes with our order, and the food arrived 5 mins before the drinks! We both had the eggs Benedict, which was lacklustre. Eggs nicely cooked, with a nice muffin.. but smothered in what tasted like custard, not hollandaise. The ham was stone cold, which cooled everything else rapidly. The only redeeming thing was the milk chocolate valrhona milkshake, which was divine (and it would want to be at €5 each). Overall it didn't meet our expectations. The menu screams inventiveness and serious thought, but it hasn't been well executed.

A slighly disapointing visit, considering all the solid reviews here. It was a quiet Sunday afternoon, with only two or three other tables. Despite that, service was remarkably bad - we were left to ourselves for 30 minutes (there were genuinely no staff to be seen) and when the maître d' finally came over, he asked us what dessert we wanted. Not a good sign. Service after that was also slow and sporadic. The food was good, but every so slightly careless. The polenta chips were tepid and unattractive, the crayfish salad so cold it was tasteless. The menu looked terrific (and the desserts were inventive), and so we're tempted to go back and try on a busy, lively evening. But though we expected this to be our new, favorite restaurant, we're in no particular hurry to revisit.

Dined here last week and was very impressed. It's in such a good location, right off Grafton Street and it's got a really funky vibe in there with really nice interior design. I had the shepards pie and my friend has the burger and they were both great, especially the burger. The presentation is great and their cocktails are amazing!

Very nice relaxing restaurant with friendly and customer oriented service. Had Sunday brunch there and would certainly go back there again. The price/ value is much better compared with other restaurants.
