Definitely my favorite Lebanese restaurant in town. Mezzes are fabulous! We got so many different starters to taste, it was just perfect. A tiny negative point, the kofta was slightly over cooked. Atmosphere was very chill out and the staff very friendly.

An reasonably-priced restaurant with some great dishes. Having explored some Lebanese restaurant as of late, I was pleased with the quality of Byblos. My partner and I had personal mezzes each, mine a Lamb Kafta and hers the veggie option, both served with a bowl of steaming hot bread. The hummous and falafel were excellent. The lamb was a little dry. Desserts were simple but tasty. The design of the restaurant feel authentic but the staff seemed a little too casual. Not the best Lebanese restaurant in the city, but a good option nonetheless.

I went to Byblos for lunch, and partook of the lunch special of starter, main course and soft drink for €9.95. The price seemed good value until I was confronted with one of the worst meals I have ever eaten. Stuffed vine leave should be a fresh and tangy tasting dish. These stuffed vine leaves were bland, tasteless and swimming in oil. Beef Schwarma was another bland concoction with stringy overcooked beef. My coke was flat, and when I brought this to the waiter's attention he grudgingly said he's change it. He obviously poured a drop of new coke into my glass, so it was still flat. Possibly they dole out slop at lunch and provide wonderful food in the evenings, but I won't be there to find out.

I wanted to experience arabic style dinner. And I did.Truly.I got Mezze together with my partner for 2 people.Plenty of small bowl and plates was served to our table. We got small portions of arabic style starters, which was delicious. We enjoyed also lebanese wine very much. Belly dancer surprised us during the dinner, giving excellent performance, dancing through all lenght of restaurant.Excellent dinner plus a bit of lebanese culture and art.Definitely worth it.

The worst food that i have ever had! Was cold and tasteless - the only reason why we got there with my friend is that we were hungry and was on the way, i am not a fan of Lebanesse food though, especially after visiting the palce! I got cabbage roll with tasteless rice inside (whatever the meal name is) and the waiter was almost standing at the table stering on us! Did not enjoy it at all!

The reason we visited here? I'd seen an edition of Planet Food as Merilees Parker toured Lebanon and I was struck by the variety of foods on offer. That whet my appetite to try it out. Four of us decided to try a couple of the mezze starters which meant that we ended up with around 20 dishes and plates for the 'starter' with the main dishes following on after. The quantity and variety was a little overwhelming but all of the food was nicely presented, tasty and went down well with all of us. Would we go again (surely the highest recommendation)? Yes we would. Perhaps we'd be a little bit more advernturous next time and actually pick from the (vast) menu rather than a set meal.

I really wanted to like this restaurant because of the beautiful decor and what seemed like an authentic and varied menu. I am a vegetarian but my friends are not, so we all ordered different dishes. The spinach pastries I ordered were good but that's where the food quality peaked. I'm not sure if it's because the Irish palate is less used to spicy food but this is the blandest Lebanese food I've EVER tasted...all garlic and nothing else! The chicken dishes my friends ordered were similarly tasteless, and there is only so much salt you can add. My friend asked for a bit of hummous on the side, which was also very bland, and for which she was charged 6.50! If you are not into spicy food but want to try something different, maybe this is for you, and I certainly liked the ambience. But I'm sorry to say, the price of the food at such a poor standard is just not acceptable.

i went for dinner with 5 friends. I had never been here before but found it very nice. Some friends who had been before and were surprised at the increased prices but we had the early bird special which at €20 was good value. The food was very tasty and I was so full after the starter I could hardly eat my main. I shared homous and i toasted lamb pitta (can't remember the name). Both were very tasty. For main I had roasted chicken with potatoes which was also lovely. Vanilla icecream with chocolate sauce for dessert. I would recommend going for lunch or the early bird as mains in the evening are sbout €20 on their own.

Had a really nice dinner here for two on sat at about 5.30. Place was quite enough when we arrived but was pretty full by the time we left. We had a selection of mezza, two glass of wine, tea and and one dessert for just over 50 euro. The food was lovely, as was the wone. Service was good, although bit slow getting the bill, which isn't really too bad a thing. Really nice spot for a relaxed meal and a chat.

Went here with two friends from work - had no idea about the menu so we ordered the beef mezze. The starters were all lovely but the meat of the main course was a bit dry but we weren't that bothered because it was all way too much food - i think it would possibly be better value to order a selection of starters and just share them, we got 10 plates of starters (one was bread)and that would have been more than enough! Lebanese wine was nice and staff were very good in that they let us sit and talk for ages even though we hadn't realised that we were the last people left in the place!

Pick at random, ignore the fact you dont have a notion what you will be eating and you will enjoy the meal! We had one hot main (spiced chicken kafta), one hot lamb starter (quite big as a starter),falafel and some hommos (amazing) which all came at the same time (as requested) and was a fantastic and very tasty feed. Along with two beers this only came to about €45. As we didnt have a notion what half the food was or what we wanted they tried to sway us in the direction of the mezzes but I think we were much better off choosing at random. I'll definitely be back here for a feed again when Im starved and looking for something very tasty to fill the gap.

Wasnt sure what lebonese food was when I went here and was very pleasantly suprised. Went for an array of various dishes but the dips and sauces were fantastic . Very tasty food and good value. Service was pretty good too. I would definitely go here again.

A group of 10 of us went to Byblos for dinner the other night and it was lovely. Because there was 10 of us we ordered 2 of all 5 of the Mezzes they had on offer. All the food was delicious (apart from the olives tasted like they had been there for a while). We were all so full after the starters we didnt actually need the main meals, but because it was so yummy we stuffed our faces. Will definitely go back!

Had the wonderful Vegetarian Mezze, was excellent, particularly the Baba Ganoush. The service wasn't too bad, not over-attentive. One suggestion - would it not be better to give the belly-dancer an area to dance in, instead of her going around the tables? It's a nice touch to have a dancer but people seemed to be a bit uncomfortable when she got too close..

Had a lovely birthday dinner here with my boyfriend. It was a bit stuffy in the basement, it being a warm summers day. We had a bottle of yum Turkish red wine, and opted to go for lots of small plates instead of proper mains. I specially remember the halloumi and tomato salad. Everything was good, and I can't wait to go back!

We also entered this place thinking it was the Cedar House (They both have the same mosaic sign outside and located next to each other, so watch out!). The meze's were not bad, but the main dish was plain bad, about the same quality you would find in a fast food store. Service was very slow, we had to wait about 10 minutes to get the check. Overpriced for this quality. We are not coming back.

The food was disappointing as it tasted rather bland and my chicken had seen better days. However the night was saved by the excellent belly dancer. She really worked the crowd and the audience participation was hilarious to watch. However I understand she is not booked out for every night which is a shame. The food was quite expensive but the decor is lovely. The waiters are very friendly but the service is a bit hit and miss. Again excellent and attentive at the start but we waited ages for the bill. When it finally came it had items on that we didn't order and had to be re-done. I don't think I would rush to go back.

We had meant to go to the Cedar Tree but wandered in here instead by accident. It was early on a Wednesday evening so it wasnt busy. We were seated in the window, probably to make the restraunt look full! We wanted the house rose but it was out of stock which I didnt think anything of until I read the same complaint here. The food was nice, nothing special - I had homous and falafel - both what you would expect. I found the food expensive for what it was - small portions and bland enough taste, our server was very friendly but we found it impossible to get our bill and as I said the place wasnt busy. Eventually I had to go up to the main counter and hang around for a while before being acknowledged. Decor was nice but loos weren't clean.

This place doesnt have the greatest menu I've ever seen. The service seemed good at the start, but as the evening progressed it went down hill fast. The food also was not of a great standard. Perhaps it's just not what I was used to, but it really seemed easily put together and without a great deal of thought. The price of the evening was very expensive too. Wouldnt be in a rush back. Seems to have a good atmosphere though and is always busy. So must have some good qualities.

I booked a table for two in Byblos for last Thursday to surprise my fiance on his birthday with something really special, with a cousine we never tried before. I honestly have to say I've never seen a worse restaurant in my life (the service, food quality and especially the staff there!)First of all we wanted rose wine, out of stock. Well it can happen anywhere. We ordered beef Mezzes and the food was really nice. When we finished the last bread from the basket my fiance realised there was something really disgusting in the napkin underneath where the bread was before (probably from previous guests!!) but seeing this made us nearly sick. We told to the waitress but nobody from the staff even apologised for that. They even stopped paying us all attention. Then brought the menu for a dessert and we declined indeed and the waitress said: "Even if it's on the restaurant?" I thought I will leave immediately. We got a bill quite quickly which made 80 € sharp. In my opinion this restaurant doesn't deserve any ratings.

I've been here a couple of times and the first time was definitely better than the second. The vegetarian mezze is quite good but not as varied as the option in the Cedar Tree downstairs (although it is cheaper). I think the portions are smaller too, particularly the main course on the mezze. Everything was tasty and the atmmosphere was good for 5pm on a Saturday evening, but I think I'd rather go to the Cedar Tree.

Having been to Byblos this week for the first time, I was waiting for the opportunity to write a review on it as soon as possible. I had previously enjoyed Lebanese cuisine and so was utterly disappointed with this visit. The chef attempted to cover up the extremely burnt pastry with paper and I am certain that the shrivelled old hen pieces inside were not chicken; rabbit possibly, or worse. I managed to eat the potatoes and politely returned the charcoal and rotten meat to the waitress who promptly brought me the bill. I admitted that I couldn't believe that they actually charged for that. My husband had lamb which looked and tasted ok which is why I am awarding 1 star.

Went to Byblos last night with friends. Really nice restaurant, and the staff, food and atmosphere was great. We had lots of small dishes to share and great wine. The desserts are also to die for (halva yum). Will definitely go back again to try some more dishes, and there is also a belly dancer at the later sitting.

Byblos is a delightful restaurant. Good atmosphere, nice music, friendly staff. The food was very tasty. We shared some dips, hummus, rep pepper dip and some samosa-like snacks. My main of a chickpea, aubergine, tomato stew was delicious and my friends enjoyed minced beef blocks (they looked like rice krispie squares) In terms of value for money, the main courses were fine but the starters were a bit small for the price. The wine list although quite limited had interesting, tasty lebanese wines. My one gripe was that a service charge was added, even though we were a party of three. This is not on....we would have given the tip anyway but it is rude to add a service charge on a party under six.

Fantastic. I love it. Except for one thing. The Cedar Tree downstairs is even better. While we had a great meal and a great time in really nice surroundings with very friendly staff I just thing the Cedar Tree is that bit better - and it's just downstairs!

Went for late lunch/early dinner one Sat about 4pm. The place was dead (well, it was an odd time) but the food was GREAT! We ordered from the lunch menu and got different Mezze platters. The man serving us wasn't exactly friendly and there was no atmosphere but I would definatly go back again - it was that tasty! And fantastic value too.

Late Sunday lunch was perfect. I'd never tried Lebanese food, but after hearing a travel review of Lebanon, I got interested in the food. Byblos is really nice, a change from Italian, French or Spanish food. The waiting staff are friendly and efficient and the menu is clear. I'd lentil soup to start - delicious. For main course, I'd the lamb mezee which was great. The lamb is spicy but goes well with humus. The salad and diced potatoes are nice. For dessert, I'd Baklava and not knowing what it was, was surprised that it was light and not too much after a big meal. I'll definitely be returning to Byblos and recommending it as somewhere worth a visit.

I was not impressed! I do not mean food, it was lovely. But The atmosphere and service were so very disappointing!!! We went out for a casual snack, nothing fancy. We were not hungry enough to order main dishes so we shared six different cold and warm starters between three of us. However we did not get plates to eat on, we only had plastic bowls and nowhere to put pita bread, only bare table... And the service seemed unhelpful and patronising towards us. Although the food was nice, I'll never go back. And I would not reccomend it to anyone who appreciates good atmophere while dining out.

Had a great meal there last night. Got a mezze platter with Kaftas and it was delicious with plenty of dishes for us to share. Was nearly stuffed before the Kaftas came out! Good wine selection also. The service was friendly and attentive even though the restaurant was very busy. I really enjoyed the meal and am looking forward to going back and trying some more of the dishes on the extensive menu. I thought it offered great value for money aswell.

We stopped there last Saturday for a quick lunch, as a friend of mine had recommended this place. So as we only wanted a bite, we stuck to the lunch menu and weren't disappointed. I tried the veggie mezze platter and my parter had something with lamb. Very good value for money. We will definitely be back to try more of the dishes on the menu (I kind of marked some for me already ;o).

I had regularly eaten in the Lebanese restaurant below Byblos. However, I really enjoyed the tapas style menu of Byblos, where I could try several dishes from the menu. There were 4 of us for the dinner and between us we tried a huge variety of dishes, all were very tasty with a great combination of flavours. The staff are really friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be returning.

What a little find! For some reason I had overlooked Byblos for so long. I was probably relating it to an earlier disastrous meal I had in another city centre Lebanese restaurant. I'm glad that I gave Byblos a go. We enjoyed a Saturday lunch there with a chicken mezze platter and a shwarma platter. The aubergine puree was just delicious, so good in fact that I tried to make it at home later that evening. Portions were generous and great value for money. The decor is light and comfortable.

The nice thing about Lebanese food is that, like Tapas, it is great to share. Had a late lunch here on a Saturday and was impressed with the food. It was really fresh and tasty. The only negative thing I would say is that there is no explanation of the dishes on the menu. The price is very reasonable.

After spending the past 10 years living in the Middle East and travelling to Lebanon several time I feel Byblos gave me a real sense of deja vu. The food quality was excellent with a true taste for the Orient. The mixture of the herbs and spices and the tangy lemon taste of the tabouleh was superb, my Lebanese companion was very impressed. The atmosphere was superb with sounds of Fayrous, Nancy Ajram, Oum Kaltoum, and Amr Diab... Points of contention: the flat bread was terrible nothing like the true Lebanese bake and the belly dancer, if that it is what you would call her, was a complete disaster.... In general an excellent experience and one which will be relived very soon !!!!!!

It was nice to try Byblos for a change. We visited on a Friday evening. The service was good, the music awful!! Two of us tried one of the mezze, I can't say it was the most amazing meal I have ever had, but there was a good range of flavours and dishes. There was plenty of food, the flatbread was particularly good. However other dishes let the meal down, the olives weren't great, and some things were a bit hit and miss. I was glad that we chose the mezze, as I could have been disappointed if I had picked certain dishes from the menu, so it was good to try a bit of everything. The mezze was reasonably priced too.

Lovely restaurant. I had the Mezze Chicken which was great. Portion was large, staff were friendly and good atmosphere. A nice way to try some Lebanese food but a little expensive.

I ate at Byblos for the first time at the end of July; it was also my first time to eat Lebanese food. I found the food to be quite bland on this occasion but I would probably return here because the decor is excellent and the service was great. One of the waiters spent 10 minutes explaining the menu to me, which was extremely accomodating towards a novice to Lebanese cuisine.

Visited on 21/07/2007 Great restaurant, very good atmosphere, real Lebanese food, finds it a bit expensive, but all is expensive nowadays. The dancer they have is amazingly beautiful and professional and turns the whole evening to a very enjoyable Middle Eastern experience. Best of luck lads in ur business.

30/6-Went there on a Sat night. Good atmosphere. VERY friendly smiley service. The mezze plates are great. You can try a little of a lot, Lebanese tapas basically. Had the tripoli and the Beirut. Would totally recommend. Belly dancing wasn't up to much but we were there for the food!

Seriously good food and astonishingly excellent service. Met Simo on my first visit and got talking of the time I spent working in Beruit. Took 2 friends there a week or two later and had one of the banquets off the menu. We thought we were hungry, but we had very generous portions of delicious food and an large number of items. On the previous visit, the food was also excellent - I found it just by walking past. Probably (over-)due another visit.

Went here on Saturday evening with 3 friends. We had no reservation but they took us in no problem even though the place was pretty full. We ordered mezze for 4 - if you like lamb you will like this place. Minced chicken and minced lamb were the main components in our mezze. Chicken was tasteless. There were loads of little dishes, like tapas really. Service is very slow. Waiters are easy on the eye though! Won’t be rushing back.

Had dinner there a while ago - wow! The restaurant has been refurbished and inside it looks amazing! Check out the pictures, wonderful interior with Lebanese marble, ceramic vases and hand made affresco on the wall! The owner will gladly tell you about it, and talk about their Country. Food is so original, healthy and delicious, early bird good value, service is great (a waiter named Simo especially) and the atmosphere is lovely!
