I purchase the menupage deal for the lunch for two and i have to say that the food was excellent in taste and in presentation, great value for money. Unfortunately the room was quite chilli and when we were served water, the waiter spilled some water on the table, it was wiped with my serviette and given back to me wet. This I found odd for a restaurant of high standards.

Went for a work lunch here recently and found the restaurant to be fairly busy serving the lunch time trade. We had the €17 menu which was two courses. I think the price was a little steep for what we actually were served as you had to pay extra for fries/potatos/beans on the side which brought up the price with drinks a bit. Nevertheless the risotto I had was delicious and really full of flavour and cooked to perfection and the dessert was equally delicious. The other diners were happy with their orders although the vegetarian in the group found her dish to be over bearing in flavour. Staff were helpful, could possibly be a bit more friendly when taking orders but overall a nice lunch a worth a look.

Two of us went for the early bird option before Christmas and even though the restaurant was very busy, we still felt the service was good. Not a huge variety of options on the menu, but this is One Pico food at much lower prices. I ate in One Pico later that week and spotted a number of very similar dishes. Definitely the cheaper option, less plush surroundings, but arguably better value for money.

I have been dining in this restaurant for a number of years but my last experience was dreadfull. When we arrived, the lady behind the phone (who could do with a smile at least when the guests arrive) told us the table was not ready so we had to wait at the bar for 30 minutes where we were completely ignored by a waiter who seemed to be very annoyed. We asked for our drinks twice and when we finally got them, it turned out he poured us from a wrong bottle. We then were seated at the worst table in the restaurant, way too close to the kitchen so we had to listen the whole evening to chef's loud orders and not always nice comments. That totally spoilt the whole atmosphere, which in my opinion was already very unprofessional. We were more or less happy with the food, we both had the Belligham blue salad for starter and steak as a main course. I liked the steak particulary but the sauce was a bit cold so when I asked the waiter whether I could get some warm sauce, I was left forgotten. He also spilled a bit of sauce on my husband's suite and did not understand us very well. I don't think he was very experienced. This restaurant used to be one of my favourite places to eat but due the VERY poor quality of service provided now, I highly doubt I will be ever coming back - and my friends who are regular guests as well shall hear about this, too.

My friend & I decided to give this restaurant a go and we were well impressed!!! We arrived a bit earlier and were greated and offered a drink by the bar while we waited for our table. The place had a few lights very well placed so you could see but were not dazzled. We were seated and offered the menu by a really nice waitress that had a smile on her face (not many places do this anymore). The menu is quite small but looked very appetising. I decided to try the potted crab & my friend had the salad with pear & Bellingham Blue: they both arrived beautifully presented and were delicious. For mains we tried the scallops & the deer. Again, really good and presented to perfection. We were not drinking wine and when they run out of beer, they prompty went to get more for us!!! Desserts were very good as well. I would have to give it a 9 out of 10 and will certainly be back.

Got a voucher for restaurant and used it on Tuesday night. Have dined here previously for lunch and early evening meal. Place was busy which made for a nice but slightly noisey atmosphere. The meal which was to be from A la Carte menu was in fact from a specially created menu for vouchers which is not quite the same as dining A la Carte. Having said that the starter and main courses were very good and the glass of wine I ordered was excellent however the desserts were not nearly as good - a bit heavy handed.Service was quick but waiter was a bit perfunctionary May go back but did feel a bit cheated over menu and would avoid desserts

I purchased a deal from menu pages for Bleu Bistro. I used the voucher last night. I have purchased a few of these vouches deals for other restaurants and have been very pleased with the offer. On visiting Bleu Bistro last night with my husband we was given an 'Al a carte dinner menu' which was a set menu for customers using their menu pages voucher. This is nothing like the normal 'Al a carte' menu as advertised on their site. Customers dining there last night, without vouchers, were given the normal al a carte menu. I was very disappointed and although the food was good we did not get any so called 'great deal'

Used our menupages voucher here and it was excellent. Staff very friendly and polite. Place very busy for a Tuesday night which was a great sign as it gave a good atmosphere. only fault was forgetting one of the side orders but that came very quickly when pointed out.

Had a lovely evening in Bleu Bistro on Friday night, using our Menupages Voucher. I expected good things here, as it is operated by the owner of another of our favourite restaurants. Well, we were not disappointed. A friendly greeting when we arrived, which always starts the evening well (surprising that some restaurants don't get this part right). Duck Liver Parfait for the two starters, and it was terrific. Plenty of toasted brioche, which can be a problem elsewhere (pate / parfait needs plenty of toast). My wife's Sea Bream was lovely, and generous helpings - she couldn't finish it. My Rib-Eye Steak was very juicy, and great presentation. My only quibble (a quibble is not as serious as a complaint - which this isn't) is that I'm just not keen on the fatty content of the rib-eye - another type of steak would have been perfect. However, all of the food was first class, and a VERY enjoyable night out. We plan to return !!

Went here this evening and used our MenuPages voucher. Lovely food Lovely staff, we had No issue with the tables, as we were the only customers, having said that I understand what the other reviewers mean. The menu we received was identical to the menu advertised. Duck parfait and potted Crab were our choices for starters, I loved the Parfait my partner would have liked to have seen a Crab claw but regardless he still enjoyed it. We both moved on to a Rib Eye he had his with the chips and I had mine with the champ, perfectly cooked as requested and very tasty. Finished with the Crème Brule and we were truly stuffed and satisfied when we left. We will be back, Good job Bleu Bistro.... yum

enjoyed the food and the value of the menu was excellent through the menupages offer, had two lovely starters, mains , glass of prosseco plus a bottle of very reasonably priced for 40.00 on top of the voucher, only criticism would be tables are very close together , would hate to be there on a full house night.

As previous reviewers have said: the tables are so close together that - even though people are keeping their voices down - one can't help hearing every word of the conversation at adjacent tables - so conscious that others are hearing your conversation - somewhat inhibiting. Availed of a Menupages deal: so was very good value. 3 different waiters asked us if we wanted to order a bottle of wine - seemed as if they were under orders from their boss to do so. Similar repeated attempts to sell bottled water. Even though MenuPages voucher states that menu choices are to be from the A La Carte menu the restaurant presents a different menu to MenuPage customers with more limited choices i.e. the more expensive items have been removed. The food was of excellent quality and very well presented - so went a long way to negating above criticisms.

Fabulous food, fabulos presentation, fabulous restaurant, fantastic value and choice. I went with a group of friends from work and the 9 of us loved it, even the fussy eaters were pleased, the portions seemed on the smaller side but we went for the 3 course menu and we all found it very satisfiying. I can't wait to go back.

We ate here on Friday using the menupages deal which was really good. We both had the duck parfait to start and steaks for main course. Food was really good, presentation was excellent and the staff were so friendly. My only issue is how close the tables are to each other. It was nearly like we were having dinner with the people beside us and I couldn't even pick up my bag off the floor as the chair behind me was right against mine! I'll definitely eat here again but I'll ask for a table by the window!!

Had dinner here last night with my husband for his birthday. It was a little quiet when we arrived but did fill up fairly fast.Atmosphere was good, nice background music, tables a little close but only a problem if the restaurtant is full. The food was of a very high standard. We both had the Donegal crab to start and then the venison and rib eye steak for mains. Food was delicious especially the mashed potato. The best thing though was the presentation - 10 out of 10 - really impressed before even tasting the food. Service was good, very attentive and the food was brought out fairly quick. We went here on a menupages deal - I think it may have been a bit steep if we had paid full price. Would recommend for early bird \ special offers, and try it out for the food presentation alone!

Had the early bird on a Fri eve, was in here at 5.30 before heading out. The place was empty when we arrived but filled up a bit closer to 7. The atmosphere wasn't great as it wasn't full, the air-conditioning could have been turned down a bit - I'd to put a jumper on to warm up. There isn't a massive choice on the early bird. We had the roast aubergine to start which tasted ok although it isn't too appealing on the eye. There is probably a bit too much aubergine, and not enough of the goats cheese, tomato and pesto. This we followed with the pork belly which came with a dollop of creamy mash. The pork belly wasn't as fatty as you get in some restaurants but still had all the flavour. It's a great dish but you may want to get an extra side of chips as I was still a bit hungry after it. My dining companion had the chicken breast on mushroom risotto. The chicken had some crispy skin on it which added to the flavour. It was a decent sized portion, the risotto made it all pretty filling. To finish we shared the crème brûlée which had a layer of blackberries under it - the blackberries didn't really work. Service was ok although we got the feeling we were being hurried a bit - they wanted the seats back for another sitting I guess. Be careful also as you'll be asked if you want a bread basket before the starters - this is an extra on the bill.

Do not go a la carte in this restaurant if you can avoid it- the food is exactly the same as the early bird or the lunch menu but just doubled in price. The steak is tasty and the house red was pretty pleasant indeed. Service was quite good too.

Booked for a pre-theatre / early bird one night before river dance. We were a party of 5 and there were two non pork eaters with our party. The restaurant was helpful in removing any port products from the dishes ordered. However, we did explain that we were pressed for time, and service was very slow - we asked several times for things to be brought out promptly, and the waiter was not that friendly. I would go back as the food was EXCELLENT value on the early bird, and was excellent quality. :-)

This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. The host seated us immediately without a reservation. The restaurant itself was packed. Its a bright dining room quite modern with large windows facing onto Dawson street so you get to people watch if your company isn't good. We had the early bird which at under €20 was good value. I had the pear salad which was lovely and my partner had potted crab which was a bit rich for me but accompanied with lovely bread and well presented. Then for mains we had the pork belly - very tasty and the Pea risotto which was too heavy. Its not something I'd re-order. Having said that there are other things on the menu that I would try again.

Was here on Friday night with my husband and another couple. We arrived like drowned rats due to the heavy downpour but the waiter and manager helped us out of our wet jackets, took out umbrellas and sat us at our table. We were given the A La Carte menu. I had a starter - Goats Cheese which was cooked to perfection. Then there was 3 fillet steaks and 1 Ribeye. All plates (wooden boards) were sent back empty. 3 desserts were ordered and everyone said they were lovely. Baileys Coffees afterwards ended the meal on a great note. The bill was very reasonable for 4 people with 2 bottles of wine. Much better value than other restaurants around the area. Will recommend to people and will return. Definitely worth a visit.

Adequate. Aged beef with bearnaise was fine, garlicy green beans, large chips, all a bit boring. Coffee so so, cheese fine, all just ... fine. Yawn. I can think of 5 places within a mile of this I could be a lot more tempted to go to, some would risk worse food, but at least they're taking a risk. OK if you need a reliable business dinner with people you don't know well enough to take a chance on.

Unimpressed to say the least. Went here for lunch with some colleagues and was surprised to see that although there was one vegetarian starter on the menu there was no vegetarian main. When I asked the waitress said I could either get the vegetarian starter "extra large" (in which case there wasn't much point in getting a starter, as there was only the one) or I could take the vegetarian main from the evening menu. I took the dish from the evening menu, which turned out to be itself an "extra large" starter - it was three potato croquettes decorated with some sticks of courgette, a total rip-off. As we were leaving I mentioned to the manager that I was surprised there was no vegetarian main and he basically told me he didn't know what my problem was, that I could have ordered the starter "extra large". I was totally unimpressed by his menu and his attitude to a customer's feedback and am happy to share my experience with anyone who's interested (so thank you MenuPages).

Visited Bleu for our second time and once again we had an excellent meal with the best of service throughout the meal. The rib-eye and the lamb are as good as you'll get anywhere. Chocolate brownie for desert was delicious too! Will be back again. Great value on the early bird menu, ideal for a pre-theatre meal.

Quite dissapointing. My crab starter was nice as was my fish main - despite the smallest portion of cous cous in the world...deserts were fab. Really lovely. My friends ordered the lamb and both were very disappointed with it - very small. Service was very poor and very unfriendly. Our teas were forgotten so we left. Doubt I will return.

I went here for lunch on Mother's Day with my Mam and two sisters and to be honest, having heard great things about the restaurant I wasn't blown away by it. The atmosphere was a bit dead, the waitress was a little cold (although the lady serving the meals from the kitchen was lovely) and not being a huge red meat eater I was quite disappointed with the selection of main courses on the menu. In saying all that - you could get two course for €16 which is excellent value so perhaps they had adjusted their lunch menu to take that into account. I had a fish cake starter, which was ok, but what made the dish was the salsa and basil butter that went with it. I had a blackberry creme brulee with oatmeal shortbread biscuits for dessert which was gorgeous, I would highly recommend this dessert. My sisters had a chocolate orange brownie which was also really good. I was most disappointed with my chicken main course. The pork belly, shoulder of lamb and ribeye steak didn't appeal to me so I went with chicken and mash and it was very ordinary - I felt I could have made it myself at home! While I was a little disappointed with my experience I would give the restaurant another chance, perhaps go for dinner and see if there is much of a difference in the menu.

Went here on a Tuesday at about 6pm the place empty apart from one other table. We both had the early bird menu. We started with a bottle of Rueda which was lovely and chilled just right (I hate warm white wine or cold red wine). I had the fish croquettes, which where lovely and full of flavour. My friend had the chicken terrine, it wasn't to her taste ( a little to much duck fat on it maybe) but the waitress asked was it ok and then the manager popped over and very kindly changed it to the fish croquettes for her. For mains she had rissotto which was perfect and I had the pork and I have to say it was amazing, done with sort of pumpkin puree which was just great with the pork. We shared a creme brulee (which I can never say no to) and had 2 coffees (which where perfect) The service was perfect through out the whole meal. We had a second bottle of wine and decided to sit out side in the sun. We paid the bill and the manager offered to carry the wine outside. We spent 10 or so minutes chatting to him about the restaurant which I always think is a great when the staff are interested in feed back. This is lovely restaurant, with a great staff

3 of us went for dinner here on a saturday night. We were running slightly late and they were very accommodating when we called earlier in the day and pushed back our reservation slightly. The staff were very friendly and our order was taken quite quickly. Starters arrived very promptly but then there was a delay. We waited quite some time for the mains(approx 30-40mins in total). We were told twice 'it will just be a couple of minutes' And I think they noticed we were getting a bit impatient. They brought us complimentary Kir Royals to compensate and they did approach us before we ever had to approach them which I found quite good.My chicken was slightly over done but the other two were very happy with their meal.

Went here on a snowy pre-Christmas night. There were only 3 of us and we had booked only that day, so we were surprised to find that we were stuck with a fairly limited and pricey Christmas menu - 2 courses for 29.95; I hadn't been told this on the phone and we obviously weren't an office party - just a family meal out. Just the previous week a group of us got a really good 4 course Christmas meal for the same price, so immediately wasn't impressed! The service overall was attentive and there were no complaints over the food which overall was very good, if a little on the sparse side, but then we left feeling nicely full rather than stuffed, which isn't a bad thing. As other reviewers have said there was an over-eagerness to pour the wine which is guaranteed to get most diners' backs up - something restaurant owners seriously need to learn. At the end I decided to have an Irish coffee, initially I was told they had no spirits, but then the waitress came back and said they could do one. However when the bill came the coffee was charged at an absolutely outrageous €7.80 - I was stunned. With the hit that restaurants had to take on business with the snow and budget combined, I'm really surprised to have been so openly ripped off, particularly as the restaurant was nearly empty. So for that reason we will never go back here, despite the good food.

Arrived last Sat night without a booking for an early meal. We had to wait a few minutes whilst the staff reorganised the tables for myself and my friends. They offered us a drink up at the bar area while we waited. I thought this was great as the staff were going to so much trouble for us and we had no bookings. It was great to see customer service going strong in the service industry. The extra distance the staff went to for our table really set the tone for the rest of the evening. The food was fantastic, cooked to perfection and the service was superb. We not not constantly being interrupted but were well taken taken care of. Although it was early there was already a good atmosphere in the lace as well. I will definitely be recommending this restaurant. It was great to see that not all customer service standards went with the Celtic Tiger,. Well done Blue.

Our party was quite large (8 people) and it was snowing in Dublin at the time and we were one of 3 parties in the whole restaurant. They made us feel at home and adjusted the temperature as it was quite cold when we walked in. Our orders were taken promptly from a quite generous Christmas set menu, I ordered a Sausage starter and steak for the main. The whole meal was fine and the food was cooked greatly. Our bill with wine came to over 500 euro and we felt that as it was an empty restaurant the management should have been a bit more forthcoming with a few complimentary drinks/coffees. They were actually quite rude and left us all with a feeling that none of the eight of us would return. Good food/bad management.

Had lunch here with 4 friends - food great and ambience good, BUT as mentioned by another reviewer, the waiter was obssessed with pouring the wine and trying to goad us into ordering more bottles. Ordinarily I wouldn't have a problem with that, but I was particularly incensed when we were told we had to leave at a certain time because the room needed to be re-organised for dinner - which we had not been told when booking. We had a considerable amount of wine left to finish (due to the over-eager waiter), and were told that we couldn't finish our drinks at the bar because we would be blocking the only fire exit (which begs the question as to why the barstools are there if they can't be used). The staff became downright rude after the bill was paid. *Very* disappointed, and won't be back.

was here for their early bird on Thursday. The place was nearly full but they manage to get a table for 3 of us ( we didn't make reservation). The staffs were very nice. i had the fish as main & creme brulee for dessert. Food was average if compared to other French restaurants around the vicinity. Total bill for 3 early birds and 3 glasses of wines +tips came to around 100 euro, quite reasonable. overall experience was good and would recommend.

Visited here on a Sunday evening for the early bird. There were only 3 or 4 tables taken, but the atmosphere was still lovely. Staff highly attentive, food fab - I had the warm roast aubergine, goat’s cheese, tomato fondue and pesto to start, followed by rib eye steak and chips. It was exactly what we wanted, so so tasty. Will definitely return and will recommend this restaurant too.

The good: The food was excellent, three of our party of four were very happy with their mains. I had the duck dish and it tasted great. My wife had the rib eye steak which she thought was a bit The bad: I booked this restaurant because it got good reviews and when I looked at the menu on their website it looked like good value. First mistake, the menu on their website is out of date and all of the prices of their main dishes have been increased by about 3 to 4 euro. Prices of starters and desserts have also increased. Also their wine list is expenive, house wines start at €25. We had a bottle of Montepulciano for €32. The ugly: The waiters spent their hole time trying to get us to drink more wine, it seemed to be an obsession. Even when the bottle was opened, we had to stop the waiter pouring the wine because he was attempting to pour the entire bottle into four wine glasses! Neddless to say the bottle of wine barely lasted into our mains.

Went here for Sunday lunch - they were offering a really good set lunch deal. The food was wonderful - I had a black pudding risotto - a first and it was delicious. It's a place where you would find something new to try. Staff efficient and I loved the interior - very comfortable and light, plus spotlessly clean in every detail. I will definately be back. Really keen to try it out for dinner.

I ate in Bleu with a large party last night and was very impressed with it. There was a lovely atmosphere with a nice buzz. The food was absolutely delicious - beautifully cooked, great quality, gorgeously presented. I can recommend very highly the duck and the fillet steak - both fantastic.

Came here with a group of girls for a birthday party. We were initially attracted by the well-priced early bird menu, but more than one of us succumbed to the a la carte in the end and we were glad we did! Food was superb from start to finish, just good high quality french food. The wine we had was a lovely accompaniment to our meal, and i cant say enough about the chocolate fondant.. heaven! Only downside was the atmosphere... where we were sitting one of the ceiling bulbs wasnt working and we had trouble readnig the menus in the darkness! But all of the girls are asking that we book there again for our next party, so that says it all realy!

Had lunch here. Interior is nice, bright, tables aren't too close together. Service is quick and efficient. Had the warm roast aubergine, goats cheese, tomato fondue and pesto to start. Presentation was great, aubergine could have used more a little seasoning in the flesh, but the flavour combinations worked well together, very enjoyable. Mains was black pudding risoto, crispy hens egg with caper and mustard. As well as pieces of fried black pudding, it was used in the risotto too, which overwhelmed the flavour. I would have preferred a plain risotto with just black pudding pieces, as it was just too much black pudding flavour overall. The crispy hens egg was soft and solid in the interior; this would have been so much better had it been runny. Wasn't blown away by it. The dessert was a let down. Had the prune and calvados tart with creme anglaise and ice-cream. The pastry on the tart was undercooked and broken on the edge, the anglaise was too thick and had split, and the ice-cream had over-crystallised. The meal started off well but slowly went downhill, which is a shame. Will return to give the place a second chance, but not anytime soom.

I went to Bleu for an early bird on Saturday 23rd October with a friend for a nice meal and catch up. We arrived and were first there. We were immediately shown to our table which was a little disappointing as my view was into the kitchen. Perhaps this was due to a late booking. However the food was excellend and atmosphere really good when the place filled up a bit. If I had one negative thing to say, the waiters came to our table so many times to see if we were ok or if we wanted a dessert, we felt it was a bit intrusive. Overall I would go back as I'm sure if it was later in the evening and the restaurant was full the waiting staff wouldn't have time to overdo the "is everything ok"

Visited with four friends and we were given a table just inside the door which wasn't ideal but not too bad. Maitre d' presented us with the Dine in Dublin menu - 3 courses for €30 and the a la carte menu. I had booked after reviewing the website which offered a 3 course menu for €25. I mentioned this and the Maitre d' grudgingly gave us two menus at the €25 price. The menus were practically identical except one extra choice on the starters and possibly one extra choice on the main and tea/coffe was included in the Dine in Dublin menu. The coffee was around €3 so effectively it was more expensive to have the "Dine in Dublin" special offer menu including your tea/coffee rather than have the €25 menu and order your tea/coffee separately. In saying all that the food was very good, the service was very efficient and non-intrusive.

Came here for the earlybird with my partner and was pleasantly supprised, great value at 20 for two courses (would recomend the cod), service was good, a little to hurried if I had to fault, will definetly be back to try the a la carte ( liked the look of food on the table beside us !!) Overall the food was very tasty, but i wouldnt recomend Blue if you are looking for an intimate and relaxed meal.

The Fish Cake/Ball starter was just perfection, just right mixture of fish. Followed by a sumptuous Beef Bourgignon Pie for me and Stuffed Subergine main course for 'her indoors'. Finished off with a delicate berry creme brulee and two fabulous espressos. The flavours and tastes were just divine. 'The best lunch I have had in years!!!!!!' Well done. Luv the coffee!!!

Went to Bleu with a party of 10 girls and wasn't disappointed. Greeted at door by very friendly manager. We all ordered from early bird and had a couple of bottles of house wine and water. Fish crocquette and warm roast aubergine with goats cheese are sublime, as is the rib eye which was cooked to perfection. Waiting staff very attentive but not obtrusive. We finished up with delicious kir royales, and 10 very happy girls departed this restaurant heaven. Deffinately going back!!

Dined here with my partner. Walked into restaurant and was starred at and laughed at by two waitress, felt really un comfortable, a male waiter brought us to our table.I had a fish started, tasteless, for my mains i had their pie, less meat and more pastry, champ came on side plate, squeezed from a tube, I know presention is important but Oh My God, it really was a disaster. It was raining outside so we stayed and njoyed two coffees. This was the only plus of the whole expierance. Will never return ere again and will share my dreadfull expierance with everyone i know. My advise is to stay well away from this so called restaurant.

Had a lovely meal here although the interior is a bit clinical for my liking, very noisy the restaurant was full to the brim, really nice sea breem and lamb dish followed by a divine chocolate fondant, great value €25 each with a glass of wine, would go again but on a quieter day where you would have more space.

French restaurants are just so Over. Our outing was less than impressive.Host was good but the rest of the service staff was working as a liability. I had a Rissoto as mains which was very soggy,Dessert was delicious Had Apple Brulee,Cant remember my starter as it was horrible,if i am right it was stuffed aubergine. What annoys me when as a customer you go for dining and find staff is busy in their own conversations more. Lack of Professionalism.

I hadn't been here in quite some time. I thought it had gone a bit 'off the boil'. But they're really stepped their game up. The food was far more reasonablly priced - mains from 17-25. The service was good. The pacing was great - just the right amount of time between each course. Very pleasantly surprised. I'll go back soon.

We were in Bleu for the first time last night. First contact when booking was good. Very friendly and helpful. It was quite busy, but the service was very efficient and our waiter got friendlier as the evening went on. We opted for the Early Bird. You have two hours from whatever time you arrive as long as it's before seven, which is plenty of time to relax and enjoy the meal. The food was really tasty, particulary the aubergine with goat's cheese and the chicken accompanied by mushroom risotto. Portions were very good. Excellent skinny fries were extra. The only criticisms I would have were the coffees were a bit steep at €3.45 a go, and a bottle of Heineken was ridiculously expensive at €6.85. This aside, we will definitely be back!

This is a very busy restaurant and I had to book in advance for a table for 4 on a Wednesday night. We had 1 vegetarian with us and there wasn't much choice for a vegetarian (non fish eating) but they did make a mushroom risotto for her. The starters were good. My main course was luke warm so I asked for it to be reheated. They didn't reheat it but brought me a fresh, hot main instead. The manager is really efficient and helpful but the service staff were very busy and we had to ask a number of times for water and for oil & balsamic to go with the bread. I had the Wexford straberry dessert and there was a disappointing amount of strawberries. The tables are very close together and I just cannot see why the restaurant is so busy and popular.

We went for the late sunday lunch deal 15.95 and it was very good and extremely busy, lovely crusty french bread with lovely olive oil while we waited, we both had the morteaux sausage to start which while rather small was very tasty but defo does not require a baby tomato why o why!, risotto of black pudding with an oozing poached egg was really good and a delight to eat every morsel, cod was great except way to much of the peas its suppose to be cod with peas not the other way around, crispy french fries and brocolli hollandaise were bliss, by the time we ate all this we had no room for dessert but cannot wait to go back!

First visit to this restaurant and I have to say I was impressed. I had the fish cake starter which was fab. For my main I had the free range chicken and it was possibly the nicest chicken I have ever tasted. Cooked to perfection. My partner also really enjoyed his meal. The service was a lil slow at the start but made up for it in the end. The €25 deal is brilliant and I will recommend to others. :)

we had a great meal here for our night out but must agree with the previous reviewer ease up on the salt please, had the crab risotto and while it could have been a great dish we agreed it was over salted but overall we really enjoyed our dinner though it was well cooked especially fish seems to be a strong point perfectly cooked and extremely good value service was charming throughout, very nice restaurant.

We went here for an impromptu lunch and found it to be a very enjoyable experience, though the dishes were a little uneven in quality. I had chicken liver parfait to start - it had a lovely texture and a subtle flavour. My accomplice had cauliflower veloute and thought it excellent. He was equally pleased with his cod for the main course. It was an excellent piece of fish, but the dish was a little bland, I thought. By contrast the mushroom risotto that accompanied my chicken was too salty, though the mushrooms were perfectly cooked and plentiful. We shared a creme brulee for dessert: it was rich and creamy and with a lovely delicate flavour. The service was prompt and friendly and in spite of the fact that the tables are very close together, this was generally a relaxing and pleasurable experience

Like many others I had walked past many times and decided to try this restaurant. The sausage starter was a joke, a couple of slices of sausage on a little salad. I ordered the cod and while eating it did not feel it seemed to be cooked well. The portion was also very small. My partners ribeye was pink but not rare as requested. My experience was not good and I definitely will not be returning based on this.

For years I have been walking past bleu and wanting to try it so I decided to bring my boyfriend there for lunch as a birthday treat. I was suprised at how grubby the windows and cutlery were as I thought it prided itself on being a 'posh bistro'. We both ordered french onion soup to start and both burned our mouths on it....I was looking forward to a big hunk of bread with melted gruyere but instead got a small floating nugget. For mains I ordered the cod which was delicious at first until I noticed it was raw in the middle. My boyfriend went for the lamb pie - it came out looking very promising with a golden pastry crust. When he cut into it to find three tiny pieces of lamb in a pint of sauce it was more than a little dsappointing. At that point we decided to leave. We were charged 17euro for two soups and a glass of orange juice with the waiter telling us it was the cheapest he could do. With so many great alternatives in the area I won't be going back.

We went here during the Dine in Dublin week. The food was quite nice and i enjoyed the meal, we had two main courses and two glasses of wine. When the bill came he charged us for the €30 dine in dublin menu plus the wine which came to €73. When we told him that we only had main courses he got quite agitated and said we should have told him we weren't eating from that menu even though our main course choices were also on the a la carte menu. He didn't really want to change it and when he did made a huge deal out of it. I don't think it was unreasonable not to want to pay €30 for one main course!! That would probably stop me from going back there again.

I've often walked by Bleu and never thought it looked too inviting but last night myself and my folks decided to give it a try. We didn't have a reservation so were delighted to be given a table at 7:30 on a saturday evening with no limit on how long we had it for. We all thought the menu was great, Mum and I had the french onion soup which was delicious once it cooled down and Dad enjoyed his large portion of chicken liver parfait that came with toasted brioche. There was a nice break between courses, not too long or too short. For main I had the delicious corn fed chicken with mushroom risotto (maybe just a tad under cooked risotto though). Dad had the black pudding risotto and thought the breaded egg complemeted it beautiully. Mum had duck which I tried too, this was first time tasting duck and I'm converted, as long as its always a tasty as in Bleu! We ordered one side order or root veg which wasnt necessary as the mains were substantial anyway and its a pity to see restaurants charge extra for them. The wine list is quite good and when the one we wanted wasn't available the waiter was more than happy to recommend a similar one for us. Service throughout our meal couldn't be faulted and there was quite a nice atmosphere. I cant understand why this place wasn't full to capacity on a Saturday night. I will certainly be back!

'Returned to bleu bistro last saturday 17 April, and was not disappointed. Arrived in time for the early bird, and had a great table by the window. I had the pate to start - sublime, followed by the rib eye. My friend had the chicked with mushroom risotto and there was not a scrap left on either plate. Place was buzzing, staff very friendly and attentive. Service was very efficient. If I had to have any criticism, it would be that the table beside us was just a little too close. But that aside, had a fantastic night and will deffinately be back again for the hattrick!!

We tried the early bird here and were very disappointed. Had the onion soup to start first, which was scaldingly hot and as such we were forced to sit looking at them, waiting for them to cool. When my pie came out I was sure I was redeemed - a sizeable dish with a beautiful, plentiful, golden puff pastry lid. Once I removed this though, I found three small cubes of meat in a sea of sauce, and they were kept warm by one or two chunks of carrot. That's it. I removed the three individual pieces of meat and laid them on the side, called the waiter over and presented the dish of sauce to him. He didn't seem too bothered by it all, despite the fact that it would not have fed a small kitten. We were sick of the whole experience by this point so aborted the meal, while still paying €6.50 each for our thin soups. How this place is surviving in this environment is beyond me. Avoid. There are so many better places around.

Not my first visit and not my last. We arrived just before 7.00pm in time for the Early Bird menu. This is great value at under €20 per person for 2 courses. We started with Onion Soup and Grilled Aubergine, and follwed with the Ribeye and Risotto with Black Pudding. The food was fabulous as usual, and each of enjoyed our own meals so much, we were unwilling to share. The service is attentive and casual, which puts the diners at ease. The meals from the kitchen arrive quickly, yet there is no feeling of rush from front of house. Great little restaurant and for those think about going, go.

This place always looks empty which is surprising cos it's really good value and as it turns out the food is really good too. I went there for lunch with the biggest food snob in the world - my dad. And my mum who knows good food too. The place was full of tourists which didn't bode well but everywhere was packed and my Dad said he'd been there before and had a really nice lunch. The lunch special was something like 15€ for two courses which was good. I had the smoked fish brulee (delicious), my mum had the soup of the day which was really good too and dad had a vegetarian aubergine thingy which he liked. The mains were all equally good and the waiter was very patient and accomodating. I'd definietly go back - I'd just need to think about the occassion because atmosphere is lacking, the decor is pretty grim and it just doesn't have any soul. Which is a shame cos the food is damn good.

Met a friend here for the early bird menu, it wasn't very busy but it was a Tuesday evening. The early bird menu is great value and has a good selection. I went for the pate to start which looked small but was actually a perfect amount and very tasty. The black pudding risotto with crispy hens egg was my choice for main and it was delightful and again a perfect portion. We did have wine that pushed the price up quite a bit more than expected. But all in all lovely food and friendly and attentive service. Watch the front door though - it's very heavy!

Beautifully located restaurant, bang in the heart of Dublin..We went for the early bird , which is excellent value. The aubergine veg starter is sublime... Both had the main of cod, which is melt in the mouth..Might add - service is really good: attentive, but not obtrusive. We were too full to be tempted by dessert, but they looked gorgeous. All in all- an excellent dining experience. Will definitely be back!

Firstly we had the earlybird so that makes a big difference to value. And it was very good value, at 17,50 for 2 courses. Myself and 3 friends went on Thurs last. I ordered the Red Mullet (extra €3+, that annoys me a bit, wither it's a set menu or it isnt!) but was disappointed with it, the fish itself was completly tasteless and unseasoned, but the remaining parts of the dish were tasty. My mate had the veggie aubergine - now that was just fab. I dont eat pate, but my mates claimed that was fab too. 3 of us went for the cod on mash - cant complain on taste - just quantity, it was very small!! Mate had the game pie and said it was delicious. Had to have a dessert - extra cost obviously - chocolate cake (not the fondant on the menu pages) OMG it was so divine and the ice cream, OMG I can still taste it - NO complaints about that. But at almost €6 for a small bottle of Heineken, my mate had just the one - a bit pricey. So overall well worth the early bird menu and you just couldnt leave without trying the chocolate cake dessert!

I had my first visit to Bleu last Wednesday and was a bit disappointed considering I handed over almost €100 at the end of the evening. I hate those tiny bits of tooth breaking bread they bring to the table. I thought 50c short of €50 for a set menu quite hefty considering it's recessionary times. The starter risotto was only ok and could have been hotter in temperature. My venison mains was cooked to perfection and really yummy but the one roast potatoe included was hard on the inside :-( We could have done with some side orders (it didn't fill me ) which of course would have made it even more expensive. Much to my annoyance 2 bottles of water were on the table when I arrived and we were charged €6 for each, a personal pet hate of mine but I have my own friends to blame for ordering it. I found our waiter a little "sharp" and cold throughout. Desert of christmas pudding was dry and tasteless, very disappointing. Coffee was good. All in all I would not return here.

Work Christmas do. Bosses told me it was set menu so did my homework - checked out the menu online so knew what I wanted - until I was presented with a different one on the night!!! Not being too fussy I didn't have any trouble picking alternatives but very disappointed that the cheese plate had disappeared. Mushroom risotto starter was slightly undercooked (could be polite and say al dente but I make better) and couldn't taste any truffle in it. Main of venison was beautiful. Melt in the mouth and the chunky chips were fabulous. However waitress suggested to me that I have it medium rare. (read - "You will have it medium rare"). Smooth light Creme brulee rounded it all off well. Clean plates all round. Service was very nice and friendly. Relaxed but not lax! Great place for a special night that's relaxed and comfortable. Not stuffy or formal. First date to impress? Or catch up with friends.

i went to bleu on saturday with my parents, my elder brother and his girlfriend. Having eaten there many times before i was looking forward to a lovely fillet steak. But i was disappointed to discover that there is no a la carte menu in december.. and the steak was rib-eye. Instead i chose the cod, and it was lovely. My parents and brother got the steak (blue rare) and they said it was lovely. the starters and desserts were all magnificent. I couldn't fault the food in any way. The only major draw-back for my parents was that the restaurant is so dark you can hardly read the menu and see your food. Some more spotlights and candles might be nice.

I was there with friend of mine last week, it was a total disappointment! to start, we were told that only choice we have is Xmas set menu, even though we said it was only two of us want a simple dinner. anyway, the start i got was Crab & Truffle Risotto and the rice was uncooked, and the dish was only luke warm. for the sake of not having 'additional ingredients' added in my main dish i just left most of starter aside. the main dish my friend had was Crisp Roast Sea Bream, Celeriac Puree, Spinach, Rosti Potato but she couldnt eat the spinach, it was covered in grease, and also the rosti potato, it was so hard that she couldnt even slice it. top of them all, the wine we ordered first was hot, like it was in the kitchen for hours, so we order a different wine, and it was still warm! it was not good value for money at all, and either of us will go back there again. not recommended!

A disaster, I can not find any other world to resume my night in this restaurant. Originally, we tried to go to elsewhere which was full. They sent us to this address. No other choices than to take the Christmas party menu 50 euros for absolutly awful food, to remain polite. They remembered the service at the end of diner and asking for a tip. An advice, avoid this place, expensive, bad food, terrible wine and no services.

This was my second visit to Bleu and it did not disappoint. Each time the food has been superb, reasonably priced and complimented by a great wine list where you can also find a lovely wine at a reasonable price, or why not splash out, you have the option after all! I got the fish cake for starters and duck for main course, while my girlfriend got liver parfait and cod. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the atmosphere and the friendly staff. I'll be back again soon, this time to try the lunch menu

Myself and my boyfriend returned to Bleu on Saturday night for the second time. On our previous visit, we went for a special occasion and I had such a wonderful evening there - I couldn’t wait to go back. When we arrived on Saturday night, the restaurant was packed - but luckily enough we had reserved a table. We had bread, accompanied with delicious olive oil while choosing our meal - along with ordering a reasonably priced bottle of red wine. For starter I had the chicken liver parfait, and my boyfriend had the crab risotto - both absolutely delicious. Mains - we ordered the sea bream and a perfectly cooked steak. We shared desert, as I have not really got a sweet tooth - of crème brulee with white chocolate ice cream - but wow, I was raging I didn’t order one all for myself! We had such an enjoyable evening. Service was great and the atmosphere was comfortable enough for us to stay for a second bottle of wine. Would really recommend to anyone and will definitely be back.

We ate here on sunday night, staff very friendly, had the special menu which asked for extra for alot of things which kind of defeats the purpose of it. I had the chicken...a bit bland i expected more than plain chicken and potatoes...felt a bit like i was making mid week dinner at home. Overall a nice place but nothing exciting

My husband and I dined here on Saturday evening during Dine in Dublin week. We were offered that menu or the early theatre menu, which was virtually identical with the latter being cheaper. The restaurant was nearly full around 6pm with a nice buzz. The food was good and enjoyable, but not memorable. The home made bread was delicious. The portions are small, so it is better to go for a 3-course meal. A small bottle of Heineken cost more than a glass of wine, thus not good value.

We arrived just after 7pm on a Monday evening, despite the early bird officially ending at 7pm they were still happy to offer us the early bird, so the meal got off to a good start! There's a good choice of wines at reasonable prices. For starters I had the fish brulee which was delicious. My partner had the seared red mullet which was equally good. We both had steak for mains and throughly enjoyed them. All in all, we had a great meal, the service was excellent, friendly and efficient.

I went there early Saturday night with my boyfriend. The place was nicely full but no packed and we got a table without a reservation. The starters (aubergine & goats cheese) and main courses (chicken and the smoked haddock) were fabulous! The portions were slightly on the small side but the quality made up for it. The service was great throughout the visit - friendly, efficient and attentive. After such an amazing start, we were a bit disappointed with the desserts. The cheesecake was very heavy and the chocolate fondant a bit over cooked. Overall, very very good and we definitely will be back.

I arrived in at 9pm with my mum and boyfriend to a packed restaurant with great atmosphere. The menu looked amazing, but unfortunately it did not deliver. My starter crab risotto was TINY, and slightly on the cold side. My boyfriend's salmon was tasteless and chunky, with little to no dressing on the limp bit of salad. However, my mum's parfait was delicious I must admit. The mains were all very tasty, but again, they were portions so small that the food was gone in minutes. I ended up ordering a side dish to make my cod, as delicious as it was, more substantial. The creme brulee was just average, and after waiting over 15 minutes for the chocolate fondant, we were told that it didn't turn out right so they wouldn't serve it. Also the bill took ages to come. In short, nice food, stingy portions, so don't come hungry!

We took our seats and noticed it was cold , we told the waiter and within a few minutes the heating was on. My friend ordered the feta starter, which he said was excellent, I had the soup and it was perfect. The breads were excellent also .My friend ordered the risotta, he said it was perfect i ordered the fish and chips, the portions were small but delicious. I ordered the peas as im not a fan of mushy peas, I asked the waiter if there was any in the kitchen, he came back and said sorry theres none. However in a few minutes he returned with a bowl of them smiling, the chef had made some. I was impressed as they were seasoned nicely as well. Our waiters were very good and attentive and kept topping us up and asking was everything ok, their uniforms immaculate and clean.Service with a genuine smile. Our house wine was good also. We had creme brulee and cheescake, fantastic, we wanted more! The bill came and we noticed an extra charge for over 6 eu, I enquired, it was an add on fee hidden in the detail of the menu. Sneaky! but we didnt mind as everything was good, but it would be better up front on the price list. The only negative point i would have on service is that they dont thank you afterwards when you are leaving and that the member of staff at the reception desk is a bit cold and uninterested, nevertheless a nice place, i enjoyed and felt refreshed after it

My boyfriend brought me here on saturday night for a celebration, I have never been before but what a pleasure to eat such wonderful food, my only quibble would be it was so a bit noisy for a romantic evening, the food was great I had the pate served ina little jar and he had the crab risotto, followed by venison and seabream we shared a hot chocolate dessert which was incredible.

We visited Bleu for dinner with 6 friends to celebrate the Kingdoms victory in the All Ireland after the match on Sunday last, and this restaurant with its excellent food and friendly staff proved to be the perfect place to celebrate! We choose from the set menu which consists of a starter and main course for only 19.95euro which was excellent value. I had the red mullet for starter which was superb and rib eye steak for main course which was perfectly cooked and presented. My wife had the seafood brulee to start followed by the cod, both very tasty. The 6 others who dined with us were blown by the high level of quality, standard and value. The staff were very friendly, efficient and professional. We will definitely be returning to Bleu when next in Dublin and will recommending to friends.

Few of us went for the early bird here. We were the first to arrive and got lavished with their attention as a result. My starter was very good, a fishcake, cooked very nicely. My main was disappointing, it was a pea and mint risotto and tasted like neither unfortunately. Desert was good. We felt that the food and service was decent value for money until it came to the end of our meal. It says clearly on the menu that you are entitled to your table for x amount of time if you are going for the early bird, which is very understandable. Barely had our desert plates been cleared and when we said we wouldn't be having coffee we were given the bill and told that the table was needed. This was with well over 30 mins left of the alotted time. I completely understand if they had needed the table, and would have been receptive to them asking us in a manner that was halfway polite but this was not the case and left a very sour taste with the three of us, to the extent that we probably won't rush back.

Had the early bird here on Saturday. Even though we didn't have a reservation and we were about 15 mins late for the early bird menu, the host was very nice and had no problem in seating us and offering us the early bird menu. The restaurant was busy but had a really relaxing atmosphere. We weren't rushed out of the restaurant either even though it was filling up with the evening bookings. The food was gorgeous and the price was even better....really enjoyed it and will definitely be back!!

Good value early bird. Nice selection, plenty options from an array of menus. Nice atmosphere, professional if cold service. Staff and patrons well dressed. Good option for a special meal or celebration. Wouldn't recommend it for large groups. Good quality, fresh ingredients and modern, thoughtful menu..all in all a safe choice.

Bleu appears to have jumped onto the now fashionable Early Bird bandwagon. While this is a welcome move for restraunts in general, Blue does not seem to have adapted well to this phenomenon. As already noted by a previous reviewer, rougly fifty percent of the €18 two course menu attracts a surcharge. This is blatant trickery and implies hostility to those who are price concious. The carrot and ginger soup I had was lacking in ginger and lukewarm. All of the starter portions seemed unreasonably mean, both at my table, and at the next (who recieved one of the smallest salads I have ever seen) My bangers and mash was quite plain, and the sausage meat did not stand out as anything gourmet. The others ordered risotto (again amusingly small - and this is a rice dish that costs pennies to make) and Fish and Chips which was again nothing special and would have left a child hungry. I do understand the concept of quality above quantity, and normally never have reason to complain about small portions, but the lack of anything even close to memorable, coupled with the distinct sense that early-bird customers were looked down upon made this a disappointing experience. Had a work lunch here a few weeks ago, the food was lovely and fresh, tasty too, there weren't many there so can't say much for the atmosphere and the lunch special is a great deal, would like to try it again some time maybe in the eve with a bit of atmosphere about.

Last evening I had dinner with my daughter in Bleu Restaurant which we both enjoyed. The moment we entered the restaurant we were greated by a very friendly manager and immediately shown to our table. There was a lively atmosphere - a wide selection on the menu and our orders were taken promptly. The food was very tasty and excellent value. We had the fish cake & rocket salad - beef pie & siloin of beef - three side orders & two desserts and some wine. Everything was served to order & the sirloin was particulary good. We enjoyed every aspect of the meal and found the staff to be very attentive. We will definitely return to Blue again and my daughter, in her early twenties, said she will eat there again with her friends.

Awful. Went for the early bird with two friends, (we try a different place every week after work,) a casual glance at the Bleu menu the early bird was advertised at €18 for two courses. In fairness we didnt look to closley at the menu outside. We were dissapointed as of the six starters two had an extra charge, of the six mains three had, (one of the mains had a surcharge of €6.95). As for the restaurant the place was cold, on three occasions we asked that the air conditioning to be adjusted. On the first two occasions nothing happened, on the third we were informed that another customer felt it was hot.... We remained cold throughout the whole meal. We arrived at 6:30, our starter arrived at 6:40, our forks were barely down when the table was cleared including the unfinished nice bread in the basket. Five minutes later the mains arrived. The three of us watched our food get cold to avoid indigestion. It felt like the staff simply didnt want us to be there. We finished our bottle of wine and paid. Its a long time since I recieved this low level of service in a restaurant. Having read some of the other reviews I see we are not the only people who have had a bad experience in Bleu. These guys need to have a good hard look at themselves. Early bird or not, giving your customers the bums rush is unforgivable. If you feel as a restaurant that offering an early bird is beneath you, dont offer it. Making your customers feel like they are beneath you is simply unnacceptable

Came back again after for the early bird dinner menu. Food was good, had the sea bass as a main and the asparagus poached egg for starters (both requiring a supplement of 10 euro in total). Nice price and ambiance but service is a little dodgy. The waiter could not speak english well at all and we had difficulty communicating with him.

I don't known about you but I like to relax speak quietly and enjoyed my food. Unfortunately the staff English was awful could not understand our orders goyt it totally wrong which so embarrasing that we walked out. THIS IS THE WORST RESTAURANT I HAD EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF TAKING WORK COLLEAGUES PLEASE AVOID

Went for the early bird, good value but small portions and nothing particularly exciting or unusual on offer. Tables extremely close to one another Good service and nice staff.

Great spot! Well enjoyed meal, not too badly price wise either, €120 for the two, with wine. A friend has told me they do a great early bird too? I'll definatly be back for that! Our table was held up initially but the free glass of champagne more than made up for the two minute wait before we could sit. Busy place so be prepaired to sit up on the people beside you - this may be the one down side to the place, but once over it, your fine!

We have eaten here before and were very happy in the past but I think they may have changed the chef as we were not as impressed this time around, the service was lovely but the food while good was certainly not as good as before, we were eating the early bird menu at €15.00 for two courses which is really good value, we will go again but our expectations will not be as high.

I came here for lunch one day. The restaurant was very quiet so the staff were very attentive. We ordered the set lunch menu. The service was fast and our food arrived quickly. The food was quite greasy. I felt the chef was putting too much oil and grease on the food and drowning out the natural flavour. The wine we orderered was lovely though. It's a nice place but be careful of what dishes you order.

Our second visit. We took advantage of the set lunch menu. No complaints. Warm rolls, fresh tasty starters and well prepared main courses. We'll return. One can usually find fault somewhere but with Bleu, at lunch, you'll leave very satisfied. I've popped it on my "regular" list.

I went to Bleu las Saturday night and what a great girlie night we had out! From the moment we walked in the door, the experience was fantastic. We were sat straight away. The atmosphere was great and the staff all very attentive, and obvious that training is key in this establishment. The starters were lovely and the mains even better, and a good selection to cover all tastes. A good selection of wines and not over priced for an establishment of this calibre. It was a treat and cost a few euro more, but you pay for what you get. It was nice to see the manager looking out for all tables and ensuring we were happy with out meal and the extra customer service was noted. Would recommend this restaurant to a friend and we will be back again. Nene

We paid a visit, not the first, to this pretentious little resto on a busy Sat night. If this is 'French cuisine' then I'm Michael Jackson. The premises is divided 2/3rds way by a ramp up to the kitchen and clients are protected by glass partitions, an ugly arrangement. The staff are from over the globe, crass, untrained and downright rude. Half of our meal was handed to us from the ramp over the glass panels to save the guy coming to our table. The food? well we both started with a tiny chicken liver parfait served with a miniscule brioche and lousy value at €8.95 ea, a half decent frenchman would pour scorn on it. I opted for the fish and chips and I longed for the 1 & 1 in my local. The fish was so small that they must get 3 servings from one piece of cod alone and the 6 chips that came with it were a joke. The pea puree was no more that 10 peas out of a tin of Bachelors and pureed, ugh! My partner had the lamb chump which was simply the eye of one lamb chop cut out and served on a bed of mash with some other indescribeable veg thrown in. The fish cost €19.50, the lamb mess €24.95, outrageous for such small portions. We were still hungry after it. The desserts were ok, crumbles costing €17.90, scandalous. The wine list is a total rip off so we ordered the house New Zealand Chardonnay, Lantana, at €25.95, €6 in Tesco and it was vile and toxic. Overall the meal at €110 was shocking value for money and needless to say we'll never be back. The awful staff and that ramp, never again!!

Ate here on Saturday night and had the early bird - 2 courses for €18, great value but the experience was only ok. The waiting staff need some personality - they have this air that they are wonderful and we the lowly customer should be thankful they even bring us the food...with one exception, the Manageress who was slightly more friendly...top tip, if someone doesn't want wine it may mean they are pregnant and not being tight with their money which is how we were left feeling!! There was constant pressure to order and move on, which we get, its early bird, tables of full paying customers are due after 8pm - the insane thing was...it was like a graveyard after 8pm when the early bird finished! Overall the food was grand, again nothing to write home about...wouldn't be rushing back...

Went here last night and had a lovely evening. Place was really busy but the service was still very quick and it made for a nice buzzy atmosphere. The food was delicious - really high quality - and at €18 for two courses - fantastic value. Will definitely be back.

6 of us stopped in here late on a sunday evening and got the 2 course early bird. 3 of us went for a starter and main course and 3 went for desert. We also ordered 2 bottles of the house wine. The food was lovely, perfect portion sizes and the service was great really prompt and there was no hurry to get us out. However, when we got the bill even with the wine it was €30 each when the early bird was only €15 each for the two courses so it was just soemthing to watch.

I came here with a friend of mine for the value lunch, two courses for €15. The food was lovely. I had the butternut squash soup and the fish for a main which was absolutely divine. The restaurant was lacking a bit in atmosphere. I like a place that is absolutely humming, this was more ladies lunching but still had a great experience though and recommend it to anyone.

Had dinner here last night, hadnt been in a few years but will definetely be back. Really good night, great food, great service in a really nice room. We were greeted by the maitre d when we arrived and served by a really friendly and professional waitress. we had the Bleu salad and fishcakes to start, both were delicious and substantial. For mains we had fish and chips and a beef pie. Again, both were excellent. To drink, we had a gorgeous bottle of Spanish red called Paso a Paso which we both loved. The best bit about the whole evening though was the bill. Including two glasses of white, our total came to less than €80!

Absolutely awful place - would not return. Just some points: - Waiting staff rushed us, as soon as we'd put the fork down from our starters they lifted the plates - No time between main and starter to digest, against rushed - tables for 2 are too close together, you end up sitting on top of everyone - staff member at the till welcoming people seemed pompous & arrogant - starter was perfect however our main course was awful. The meat seemed undercooked -> no excuse for this To sum up Bleu it a typical celtic tiger era Dublin restaurant - overpriced sub-standard food with no atmosphere, cramped and arrogant & pretentious staff - stay away

I ate here with a group of six last Saturday as part of the 'Dine in Dublin' week. As it was part of this promotion it was great value. Each of the six of us were happy with our three course. Even though it was not the full menu there was still plenty of choice. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The only down point was that we were charged for the water without ordering bottled, as the waiters keep filling your glasses you do not realise how many bottles you are drinking. We did however realise that you can ask for jugs of water.

Went for dinner last night and had the dine in dublin special menu 3 courses with coffee and service 30e, exceptional value for money and a great idea cant wait to try some other restaurants offering this deal, the quality of the food was very good although our crab risotto was a tad over everything else was super, very tasty with service to match, a little tip get a cheaper house wine on the list about 19e and we would have drank more and so I suspect would others!

Dropped in here to celebrate the end of my wifes exams in the early afternoon. I liked the place for lunch, bright, airy and not too busy that people were on top of each other. We opted for the €15 lunch menu, with a few galsses of wine. I have to say that I was very happy with the food quality and service. I did not have the same experience as other reviewers apparently had. I had the fish cake, which was very nice followed by the cod with a tartatre sauce, which was really good, all topped off by a crispy white wine. My wife had the fish cake too and the bangers and mash, which also were very nice. The service was impeccable, quietly attentive and we stayed for desert and coffee to top the aftrernoon off. Well worth it.

We dropped in for a quick dinner on the strength of our previous visits to Bleu and were serverely disappointed with the quality of the food served. We started with the duck spring roll which was reasonable but not good value for the €9.95 charged for it. My partner had the Sea Bass for main course - the fish was fine (fresh) but the crab risotto that accompanied it was unpleasant - very stodgy and the crab gave it a very "fishy" smell and flavour meaning that it was definitely past its best. My steak was fine but, again, the accompanying potato gratin was charcoal on the top and looked like it had been hanging around for days. Our bottle of wine was corked when we tasted it and, all in all, for €50+ a head I was expecting an awful lot better. Avoid until they rediscover the quality they once offered.

My partner and I went to Bleu on spec the other Friday night and were really lucky to get in and the place was jammed and there was a really buzzing atmosphere. I was surprised as I'd heard that everywhere was so quiet these days, but soon saw that the size of the crowd direcrtly related to the quality of the food and the value for money with this reasonable priced menu. The staff were very professional and friendly, and knowledgable on all items on the menu. A wide range of reasonably priced decent wines by the glass meant no arguments over what we drank. Food was delicious. I had a lovely starter with mixed leaves, pear (fresh and perfectly ripe) with cheese. He had the pate (every scrap - wouldn't share) and venison for mains which was really good. My fish was great, which was lovely as much as I love to eat fish, i can never remember what each type is called and can't cook it. Overall, really looking forward to going back, recommend you give it a try.

Went here for lunch deal, been before for dinner & was really good food & value. We work just down the road from the place and made it back wihtin the hour though service was a little slower and the place got really busy v quick. Overall lovely restaurant, it gets loads of day light and its nice to sit and be able to see out into the street.

Had the special 15 Euro lunch here, and it would have been good value except for the poor food. The place is nice, though the tables are small and tightly packed together. The service was good, timely, professional, unobtrusive. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. the fish cake as starter was nice, but my leg of duck was as dry as a dry Martini - not a bit of juice in it.

I was looking forward to lunch here as had heard a lot about it, but had never visited. First impressions were good - nice room, friendly staff and full. The company was excellent, so the only disappointment was the food. We both started with the fish cake - nothing spectacular and far more potato than fish. My main was pea and broad bean risottor - my companion pointed out that it looked like green porridge ... it tasted much the same: very bland and unremarkable. My friend came out worse with the confit of duck - dry, stringy and tough. The lunch price is good - €15 for 2 courses - but this was devalued by the quality of the food on the day.

Ate here with my boyfriend and mum as she came to Dublin for a visit. Really good atmosphere, very friendly staff. The food was delicious - all 3 were very satisfied. I had fishcake followed by seabass, and then the crumble. The seabass came on a crab risotto which was amazing - such a delicious dish. Only mild complaint would be that the plate was only warm rather than hot, so the food did go cold quite quickly. The crumble for dessert came with a ginger ice-cream - again, amazing, but again, the crumble could have been warmer. Only a very mild complaint though - I will definitely be returning! Good choice of wines as well, and in general a great time!

I was very disappointed after dining here, went with a few freinds on a sunday evening. The value of the food looked great and i had heard great things about this place. There were only a few options on the menu, and after ordering the chicken they were out of stock so i asked for the fish which they were also out of... something that should have been mentioned before looking at the menu. I ordered the seabass instead, the portion was very small and not satisfying or fulfilling at all, our sides never arrived and meals were mixed up. I also asked for a hot chocolate which they were also out of.... very disappointing. The staff were very friendly and did whatever they could to satisfy the table. After reading the last few reviews i dont think i will be returning.

Pleasantly surprised at Bleu. I ate here just after Christmas and had the 2 course lunch for €15. My boyrfriend and I had the fish cakes to start. They were well cooked and tasty. The pan fried chicken breast was also very well presented and comes with rich tasting veg. The place is bright and service is excellent. Would definately recommend.

I ate here for the first time the other night. I met a friends who wanted to try it out. Overall first impressions are good as the place looks clean and bright. they had a special deal on-two courses for €18 which is great value. We decided to have the fishcake and the pancetta salad to start- both very tasty, and then the sea trout for me and the venison sausages for my friend. Everything was well-presented and very tasty. The service was friendly and relaxed. there were only three staff on including the manager but they seemed to manage well. The restaurant was over half full so the atmosphere was good too. I enjoyed my meal in Bleu and I will go back again. We had starters, mains courses, desserts and coffees as well as a lovely ~New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc for €90 which I thought was great value.

I came here just before Christmas for lunch. The atmoshphere is nice although the restaurant wasn't very busy. We ordered from the set lunch menu. I found some of the dishes very deceiving and completely different to what I was expecting. The food was quite oily and greasy so I was slightly disappointed with this as the menu sounded much fresher and healthier. The service was good.

I had a meal here recently. The atmosphere is quite good and the service fine. I ordered fish and chips and found the dish quite tasty. Sadly, the fish portion size was far too small and they overcompensated with the chips. I did however mention this to the waiter and hopefully on my next visit things will have improved on the portion front.

I went there for lunch with a colleague of mine about 3 weeks ago and we just couldn't believe what the great value it was. We had a two-course meal for €15 and the service was quick. The speed of the service was as important to us as the reasonable price since our lunch only lasts one hour. I will definitely go back there again. It's definitely a winner for me in the city centre

We had a very pleasant pre-theatre meal at 6pm on Sunday.Starters, fish cakes and roast aubergine, tasty and piping hot.Mains, venison steak(supplement)cooked perfectly and roasted chicken, which was very good. Although only another 12 diners in the restaurant (frugal times!) the quiet background jazz music added to ambience, with the prompt and friendly but unobtrusive table service lending to a good atmosphere. Add one glass of wine, one dessert and a coffee,we were handed a bill for €56.20 which represented very good value. I'll be returning.

Lunch special of 2 courses for €15 is very good value. Food was lovely, I was left wanting more. Service was great. My only issue is the tables are far too close together. I don't like feeling like I having lunch with the strangers at the next table!!

Went here for the lunch special recently which is good value at €15/16 for 2 courses, the choice is a little limited but I suppose at that price you'd expect it to be. Starter salad was fine, main course was chicken which was tasty enough. Atmosphere unforutnately was non existent as there were probably more staff than diners. Wouldn't really rave about it but it was relatively good value.

Did you ever say to a friend that you'd look after the reservation for dinner, and forget? Well, I did. In a panic, I managed to get a table for six at short notice. The restaurant was hopping and everyone seemed to be in top form. We all ordered from their new value menu. As we were all having the craic, I couldn't say what they all had but, I had fishcakes for an appetizer followed by the steak for main. Both excellent. Cheese for afters was good, all washed down with a very moreish house wine. Great value, great craic, great location. Will def be back for more.

When you find yourself eating out in January you're either loaded or someone gave you a Christmas voucher.Well im the latter but with the voucher weighing in at €100 i expected to be digging in a lot deeper into my wallet. As we were both off to see Che Pt 1 at the cinema the Early Bird menu suited and at €18 per head for 2 courses this represents the best value in town! In fact i was gonna have trouble using up all this voucher. We both skipped starters and Salmon Risotto was ordered for herself ,a dish i would normally give myself when in the hands of a talented chef as im useless at trying to imitate this dish at home but my senses were aroused moments earlier when the waft of beef casserole went by. The risotto was excellent but my casserole was the clear winner...a rich winter warmer bursting with slow roasted vegetables, braised beef and im sure the richness of blue cheese. I decided to push the boat out for the wine seeing as we were paying peasant prices for the food and i ordered Chateauneuf De Pape Chant Prix 2006 which at €65 represented one of Bleu's most expensive wines. As our charming French waitress went off to fetch larger glasses she informs us that its one of her favourites..mine too!! Afterwards we both kept up the rich vein and ordered Warm chocolate and hazelnut brownie with some Frangelico icecream with a Baileys coffee and with a nod to our server ,..a French coffee! What was intended to be a quick bite before our movie turned into a wonderful little surprise...suffice to say we skipped popcorn!!

Disgusted is the only word! Went here with my Mother, Sister and her friend last night for our annual Christmas night out (Early Bird & Show) and i was so annoyed at what we enountered. First i would like to point out that there were only 10 / 12 others in the place at the time - it wasnt busy! So having been waiting for the waitress to come over to take our order for about 20mins, the soup finally arrived another 25mins later - and it was beyond dreadful! So much so that we had to send it back as it was cold and tasted terrible. The waitress returned to us 5mins later to advise that the chef now decided that it was bad enough to remove from the menu! Annoyed at this we didnt have time to order another starter so we waited another 20mins to get our over cooked dry chicken main course. In fairness, dry as it was, it was a weclome relief from the soup (probably becuase we got more sauce to drown it in!!). After dinner my sister and Mother took a trip to the bathroom and came charging back out wretching as it wasnt properly cleaned! The waiter took care of this - only when asked! Eventually our deserts arrived, by which stage we just wanted to leave. The manager appologised and advised that as a result the chef also removed the side orders from the menu that night (though they made us eat them!!!). So please avoid!! (normally, i'm not fussy, but is it too much to ask for basic food - when we are paying decent money for it in this climate!!)

Ate here last night and was VERY disappointed. Overpriced and overrated. Don't mind paying money for good food but would've had a nicer meal somewhere else for a fraction of the price. Kir Royale cost 16.50 euro, completely unjustifiable. Asked for steak medium and it was well done. Was quite dry since there wasn't enough peppercorn sauce. Veg and potatoes were average, as was the starter salad and the chocolate brownie dessert. In its defence, I will say that the staff were friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was nice...not enough though to get me back there.

Very average I just dont get they hype. I have eaten lunch here 1 year ago and recently and its nothing I would have raved about. The food is average and nothing stood out to me except maybe the nicely cooked chips with the steak. Also the room feels cols and clinical to me. Its not a place i would enjoy to linger in for a meal. Sertvice ok, but still notjhing memorable. I can think of many more places with nicer atmosphere to eat in at the same or better prices..

Came here for lunch last Tuesday with a few friends, we had heard on the grapevine ( and from reading menupages reviews ! ) that it was very good value and good food too. It did not dissapoint and really lived up to its reputation. The staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Overall a great place for lunch and I cant wait to try it for an evening meal with my partner.

On a girly night out on Friday 28th Nov, the 5 of us headed for a meal in Bleu - must say totaly worth it. The place, service and food are superb. We got the nicest Waiter who couldn't help us enough. The food was sublime and the wine even better and not too pricey either. Will definaltey be back. I would recommend the venison (simple delicious). Thanks Bleu for making the night a great start.

I visit this restaurant on 22 of november. it was a saturday night and I looooooved it Definitely thumbs up for Bleu Bistro. Great atmosphere, good simple food - the formula for a great night out. Hubby and I arrived at 7.30 Sat nite, had a drink upstairs and were seated within the hour for our meal. I had salmon which was perfect. The waiting staff were very pleasant and efficient. The guy at the door couldn't have been more welcoming. We will definitely be back.

Simply fantastic! Me and a friend decided to go for lunch after shopping in the city centre. We always like to try different places and this time we decided to look for a restaurant in the St Stephen's Green area. I was mentioned that the Reader's Cafe was a good place for getting nice food for a good value so we were walking to there when we spotted the ad with the offer of 3 courses for just 20 euros! I must admit that at the beginning I was a bit mistrustful about the quantity of food we were going to get, as I had previous reference of the quality of the food and these always were great. We decided to go in anyway and we were welcomed by a very cheerful waiter. We got as a starters goat cheese salad for myself and fish cakes for my friends ( we were delighted, overall me as I am a big fan of the goats cheese and this one had a strong flavour, yummy!) As a main course I got the risotto ( well cooked, with a nice and light flavour, better than some which I got in proper Italian Restaurants!) and my friend the beef casserole. And as a dessert I got the brownie and my friend the cheesecake which was delicious! All these for just 20 euros each! The presentation of the dishes was impressive, as it looked that they took care of every detail, the service was professional and nice during all our meal and the atmosphere was relaxing and peaceful. We will defo be back! Excellent value for money!

If you can't cook risotto take it off the menu. I've been here a few times. Last year I'd have said good food, good service and good atmosphere. This year I'd say mediocre food, 'smart ass' service and good atmosphere. Disappointing and won't be going back anytime soon.

Disappointed in general. Table of three, two normal, one veggie. As always the veggie option is wild mushroom risotto (is this the only veggie meal that chefs in Dublin can think up) it was mixed with tarragon. Overpowering would be an understatment. The streak was a steak and the pan fried bream was good the mash wasn't. The atmosphere was okay but for a Friday lunch it was very quiet most unusual even during the credit crunch.

went here for the lunch special. the restaurant was pretty quiet which was actually nice and relaxing along with some decent music in the background. as it was quiet, service was quite good. i went for the caesar salad to start and the beef and guinness pie for main. both were decent but neither rocked my world. had chocolate brownie for dessert which was decent but again not very memorable. all in all, this is pretty decent value...

I have been there a good number of times but havent been in last few months. I was there on last friday It was my girlfriend's birthday. We both had fish cake to start with and for our main course she had salmon and I had lamb shank. The food was the exactly how I was expecting. Simply delicious. But I am very very dissapointed about the service that was given. More or less new staff, they look tired and hardly smile, no english at all. Most dissapointly we got our main course served after 45 mint we finished our starters and there was no supervision about it at all. My girlfriend spoke to the girl (not sure manager or not), she was trying to explain with some english which didnt made any sense at all, moreover it came across so rude. Thanks Peter, Dublin.

Went for the Early Bird Menu last Saturday. Firtly at €20 for 3 course per person it has got to be among the best value in town, however quality and service were not great. Choice with the Early Bird was OK, and the quality of the starters were excellent - we had the Goats Chesse Salad and the Ceaser Salad to start, both offered great flavours, yet flattered to decive. At the end of our starters which we had just finished our friendly female waitress removed our plates and within a second we had our main course sitting in front of us . . . I know they want the table back but more than a little bit rushed you might say. The quality of the mains was ok, we had the beef and guiness pie, and the Smoked Haddock Risotto & Poached Egg - a slightly strange combination which worked, just about, but as with the beef pie was unspectacular. For dessert we had an Apple & Berry crumble - which you could certainly recommend, and a warm choclate brownie - which I wouldn't as it was just too dry. Overall the value for money makes it definitly worthwhile, however the quality is unspectacular - just a solid 3 star for the Early Bird offering.

This place left me feeling bleu. Uninsired menu and food preparation turned what should have been an occasion into a humdrum dining experience that I could have had in any coffee shop in the country. Overpriced, badly trained staff and afwul boring unadventurous tasteless food. Never again!

We went there on Wed eve before performance in theater. We had 1 hour to eat. There was a special menu, 29.9 euros per person for 3 course meal. Sounds reasonable. I ordered medium-cooked steak. It came rare. Very red inside. Maybe we have difference in understanding what medium cooked is. I didn't send it back as we didn't have time to wait. My partner had salmon which was pretty good. But nothing special. Can't tell anything about dessert too. We were hoping to have it, but because our table was served so slow we didn't get a chance to try dessert as we had to rush. When I got the bill there was extra charge of 10 euro. Dish supplements as I was told at the counter. That's for chips and 1 big mushroom for me and my partner. I saw that extra charge in a menu, but didn't pay attention to it. I thought you decide if you want to have something extra or not, but they just brought it without even asking. We ended up with bill of almost 80 euro. I am not coming back at all!!!

I would recommend this restaurant for either the early bird menu or for eating out with work colleagues; the food is good- not outstanding, reasonably priced, but the atmosphere is a bit sterile and wasn't intimate enough for couple dining. I started with the chicken liver pate- the portion was huge and enough for 2, but also meant it was quite an overwhelming slab on the plate. Venison and potato gratin was very good, although the sauteed potatoes that came with his steak seemed as though they had been sitting around a good while. Creme brulee was excellent and the best executed dish.

Exceptional Value and a Great Night Out in Dublin, This is what food should be about, good quality ingredients, well read menu that promises and delivers with good cooking skills and efficient uncomplicated service with a price of £19.95 three courses its a super spot in what we were told was the dearest part of Dublin for rents, this was our 5th restaurant visit in 3 days in what you may call a food crawl, not expecting much when we arrived in Dublin but we are going back very very happy.

Had luch here last Friday on the weekly lunch odessey. Three courses for 20 Euro. It was cheap, cheerful service, lovely food and attentive but not intrusive wait staff. Celebrity chefs may not be quaking in their boots at the thought of Bleu but they can hold their against some of the over priced, under acheiving bistros in the area. The venue atmosphere wise does not lend itself to a long leisurely evening meal but it surely fits the bill for lunch.

Bleu was very impressive. I ate here last Saturday with a friend. The food was very tasty and the service was excellent. The staff were very attentive and, but not pushy at all. We were left to enjoy a leisurly glass of wine at the end of the meal, it was vey relaxing the perfect place for casual dining. I will definitely return.

Amazing value! 7 of us had the pre theatre menu and were all very impressed by the choice, the extremely reasonable cost - e29.50 pp - and the service. Some of us had the fishcake starter which was nice although more potato than fish! The pork belly main was good, the salmon and risotto also but the steaks were completely overcooked. The two rare steaks came out medium and the medium rare well done. I must stress that we didn't complain or send them back (very unlike us) because we were under time pressure and the meal was being paid for by a very nice person who can't bear bad vibes! Desserts were excellent and enormous! Service was attentive and friendly. The great value is my outstanding memory and we'll definitely return for the pre theatre menu.

Had a business lunch here with 3 other people. We had the set menu which was food value. Two courses for 20 euro. We arrived for lunch at 2pm and we were the only people in the restaurant. There were tasty breads that were put on the table before the meal. I opted for the asparagus with poached egg and Italian ham (Serrano I think). I chose the salmon with beetroot risotto for my main, which was a large hearty portion. The coffee was superb. The food is really great here, and the price is reasonable enough. The only thing lacking here is the atmosphere.

Went here yesterday with my Mum for lunch. Got there at 1 on a Saturday and we were the only ones there, It had filled up slightly when we left. Waitress was very nice and helpful. I had the mushroom risotto, very tasty, the truffle foam was slightly odd. My mum had chorizo salad which she said was lovely. We also had a side order of chips. You only get 5 but they are HUGE. and very tasty. With a glass of wine and a few cokes it came to 39 euro. The only complaint was that it was a bit drafty, and quite chilly. But I would recommend it as a great little place to rest and eat during a days shopping

superb casual dining,I really like bleu, everytime I am in Dublin I stay close by at the merrion and the guys at the concierge always get me a table to entertain some associates, again after been there on saturday I have to say it is really a top place: fish & fat chips is there signature dish and is pretty much perfect and in comparison to chelsea where I eat out quiet alot I find dublin restaurants and prices very reasonable,

Ate here last Saturday night. There were a large number of us. Waited 30 minutes for our menus. The food was poor to say the least. I had fishcake to start but struggled to taste the fish. Had chicken for a main course and it was so dry I had to leave half of it behind me. Nobody asked us if our meals were alright, probably just as well as none of us were bowled over. Had rhubarb crumble for dessert, stewed rhubarb in a glass with some crumble on top, not very inventive. Worked out at €70 per head which included our wine. Will not be going back.

A complete non-runner. Monday night, ghost town - 2 other guests in the entire establishment – one, a lady muttering + babbling to herself, the other a businessman who was blatantly + audibly snoring at his table. We were quite bemused to put it mildly + were greeted with a wide eyed smile by the waiter. Asked had we a reservation: yes indeed for 7.30pm. Our 8 minute tardiness clearly wouldn't be an issue given they were hardly run off their feet? Seated to a window table, parallel to the snoring beauty, menus set down. In swoops another gentlemen, asks have we a reservation – again, the reply: yes we have sir, 7.30pm for the Galway Girls. And off he glides. Menus opened, discussion started. As waiter/greeter pours water, the gentleman returns yet again to ask about our reservation – clearly there is some communication barrier?? Whatever, a concerted effort was now being made this would not bother us, more important issues at hand. 2 starters between 3: chicken parfait – nice if unremarkable, fishcake with fennel + apple – absolute miss – should be advertised as potato cake with a mass of fennel, as the lack of the other two ingredients was as frustratingly obvious as the head on my shoulders. Linguini of crab – uneventful; fish and chips – nice portion of white fish, but batter was almost a sickly grey it was so pale; finally, the best of 3 very middling mains, smoked haddock, pea risotto – very good fish, addition of a poached egg brought the whole lot together for what almost felt like a plate of comfort food. Lured by trio of chocolate brownie but equally by lemon rice pudding – a coin was tossed - rice pudding won out – it was in fact delish. That is the rice was, everything else on the plate cluttered what was a sufficient sweet by itself. A bottle of vino blanco, €50 each and out the door we were. I won't hasten to say, we definitely won't be returning anytime soon

Went here a good while ago, just before Christmas. We were a group of ten. I found the quality of the food not up to the 58 euros they were charging. My crab starter, lets just say that crab hadn't been the sea for a long time. Starter, sea bass, nice but not spectacular. The dessert, I will hand it to them was very good; stewed pears with a gingerbread parfait mmmm. Wines were also good. The place was cosy, however what kind of spoiled it for us was the simple greed. The constant pouring of mineral water, constant unordered bottles of water brought to the table. When we got the bill there was something like 17 bottles of water.(at over 6 euros a pop it can really add up) I know the waiters are told to keep pouring but I find it extremely greedy and unhospitable of the owners and for that reason I'm afraid....I'm out.

Hmm, i'm still undecided about this place. food was all very nice but it just feels like a 'work' kind of place. i just wouldn't be rushing back for a romantic dinner for two or a meal for a big gang of friends. service was efficient, and the lunch menu is good value. fish cake starter would have benefitted from a little extra fish but the beetroot risotto that accompanied my main was delicious.brownie was nothing exciting.all in all i'd be happy to return if someone else was paying but it wouldn't top my list

Bleu is way too expensive for what you get. I dined with my husband on a Monday night and when we were seated we were given the full a la carte menu, even though they do the early bird menu all night on a Monday. I had to ask for the early bird menu which I think is a bit Irish. Surely one should be presented with both options and not have to ask. I ended up just getting a main course which was corned chicken, the chicken was cooked very well, the portion was very small but fine for me. All the veg etc. were extra so for just the chicken and one potato I think its very steep. The waitress came with a large bread basket which you could choose your bread from and like other restaurants who do this I was expecting a selection of tomato bread, brown bread, treacle etc so it was a little disappointing when we asked whether we wanted brown or white!! The decor inside is nice but we found it a little cold. The staff were very nice.

Great quality food which was a suprise considering some of the reviews. A group of us dined for lunch and thought the service was v.good albeit a bit over the top. Needs to be a bit more relaxed for a bistro but overall thoroughly enjoyed it.

Visited Bleu for first time last Saturday before going to the theatre. Food was excellent and service very friendly throughout. All courses were very enjoyable but the Fillet of Beef was superb. Large chunky chips as a side order very tasty also! Expected higher prices for location but wasn't the case. Will be back.

I went to Bleu before theatre and was very disappointed as we were the only customers, early saturday evening I understand but it just meant dead atmosphere, the food was little overpriced but was nice enough nothing spectacular. I hope its improved...

Feels like sitting in a shop window, staff very attentive but not that effective. Food is below the standard that I was expecting as a sister restaurant of One Pico. It is also expensive for what you get. The best part were the desserts and I think they are bought in.

I had lunch here yesterday and the only reason we went in was because everywhere else was full! I'm glad we did though. They have an express lunch menu and we both had the pasta with cherry tomatoes, rocket, basil and garlic. It was very tasty and not too bad at €11.95 each. We got a side of fries and were a little disappointed to see only 5 "fries" arrive, although they were quite chunky and extremely tasty. €5.95 for a bottle of sparkling water was a bit much but even so I think I'll go back.

I ate here on Saturday night with my boyfriend and parents who were over visiting us. I have to agree with some other reviewers by commenting on how the staff are almost too attentive - they are constantly over at you. Don't get me wrong they are very friendly and are good at what they do but we just found it a bit much. We took advantage of the pre-theatre menu with was 29.95 - we thought this was good value but the food wasn't the best. The side dishes are also very small at 3.95-5.95 per dish. I did like it but I wouldn't rush back!

Good food but very pricey for a Christmas lunch. I went to Bleu with 3 work mates and the food was very good, and the slections was wide. However it was very pricey (circa 45 euro for 4 courses) and while good did not merit this pricing.

Far from perfect. I ate here with my girlfriend on friday nite, we were both very much looking forward to it. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the modern look is very trendy, however the staff are almost too attentative. We discovered it was a set xmas menu-for €60 a head-so we said we would give it a go, the food was very nice-especially my girlfriends venison which was delicious, however for that price it is expected, the courses were almost rushed out to us and we didnt have much time to relax between them. A nice nite but didnt live up to our expectations!

Looking for some fine dining on a Monday nite we stumbled across Bleu.....with only 5/6 tables inside occupied I entered with mixed emotions. The waiter led us straight to our table....which was positioned well from other clientele..making our experience a little more private. The Menu read well and had a good wine selection.... For Starters I had Mushroom Risotto followed by fillet of Beef, my partner selected the goats cheese & smoked cod for mains.....all of our dishes were well presented and the quality was excellent..... washed down with a good bottle of French white. The bill came to €110 and I would do it all again - Highly recommended/Excellent Value

Had a smashing meal today in Bleu. Love the new decor - very fresh & pink, which I love. Bar the music which needs dire attention, we had an extremely tasty meal. Fish cakes with shaved fennel for 3 of us plus one sea scallops and one special coeliac dish. Mains consisted of 2 superb fillets of beef plus 1 braised venison plus 1 scallop main course size and 1 fish and chips which had the best chips ever. Dessert was spiced plums and parfait, with 2 bottles of pink champagne. We rolled out of Bleu very contented and can't wait to go back, thank you and well done.

Have to agree with many other reviewers in that this place is seriously overpriced. I also had the chicken dish which is €26 for one breast of chicken and some mash. Sides all have to be ordered separately and the chips were raw in the centre! Watch out for the constant pouring of bottled water which adds up since it's €6 a bottle. On top of this was slow service and non-smiling waiting staff. Definitely will not be back

Six of us ate here last Sat night. We found it to be overpriced and over-rated. The food was tasty but the portion sizes were ridiculously small. One of my fellow diners' meal was cold, he asked the waitress to heat this up. It came back minus the vegetables on the side that we were being over charged for anyway and it was evident it was blasted in the microwave. Not what you would expect for a chicken main course costing €26. When our waitress asked if everything was alright, my friend complained that his meal wasn't good, there wasn't even an apology. Basically, Bleu is just one of the many restaurants jumping on the band wagon of overcharging their customers with very little regard given to their clientele resulting in poor service and a feeling of being ripped off. Unfortunately, it's a very common theme in City Centre Dublin restaurants. I won't be back anytime soon.

Absolutely Dreadful! Myself and partner dine out every week and this has to be the worst I have ever experienced . Our booking was for 8.30; we finally got a table at 10pm. They gave us a glass of Champagne by way of an apology! The wine was over priced by a factor of 3-4. The meal was dreadful. I ordered the duck and got a single leg which left me shocked! Have advise friends to give it a wide berth! This is my first and last time dining here!

The food in Bleu is really good, though there is a little lack in variety. Prices are a bit steep for the portion size but it is tasty stuff. Found the staff nice and friendly.

I ate in this restaurant recently and I must admit the food was scrumptious hence the four stars. However, I will not be eating in this restaurant again simply because of the maitre d's lack of charm. Big mistake!

I had a very enjoyable lunch here recently. The standard of food is similar to the restaurateur's more upmarket establishment, but at a much lower price, which certainly won't break the bank.

I'm a fussy eater but by the end of my meal at Bleu last weekend I hadn't found a single fault. The menu was nice and compact yet wide ranging with something to suit all tastes. The scallops were so tasty and fresh - it was a real treat. Every bite of the aubergine, tomato and goat's cheese salad was like a slice from heaven. In fact when I woke up the next day I couldn’t stop thinking about the aubergine, tomato and goat cheese. For my main course I opted for the crab linguine which was very flavoursome. I could taste each individual ingredient. Everything was prominent, yet subtle and none drew flavour away from the others. The restaurant has a real buzz about it and was full to capacity. Because of the atmosphere and since it's good value for money, Bleu makes a great restaurant choice for a date. The staff were friendly without being overbearing. And after our meal we were left to linger instead of being rushed out to make room for the next diners, never a good thing. All in all, eating at Bleu was a thoroughly enjoyable culinary experience. Definitely one to be repeated.

Bleu is a fantastic restaurant that can cater for all. I was there with my husband and another couple. The menu was superb as it catered for 4 extremely different tastes. The food matched the menu choice, superb. Hot, on time and plenty on the plate. The wine list was extensive and then the only problem was that we all couldn't agree so ended up ordering 3 different bottles of wine. The service was friendly and professional with a nice relaxing atmosphere. I will recommend this place and I will bring other people back as well. It's a 5/5 from us.

This restaurant is very good value in comparison to what you'd pay for its sister establishment, and the atmosphere is great. It's perfect for a date as it has a nice, low buzz, perfect ambience and the food is always good. On occasion you can feel a little crammed in - but it's no bad thing that it's popular!

I have eaten here a couple of times, both experiences I did enjoy but for the price of the courses - there wasn't enough on the plate - it was a case of "feed but not fill" - I had sea bass the last time I was there which was perfectly cooked - unfortunately the veg was overcooked and the mash we ordered was too salty for my taste - service was prompt and amiable

A very enjoyable evening. We went on Tuesday evening and stayed for three hours as we were having such a nice time. Food arrived promptly, was beautifully displayed and freshly cooked. The staff were friendly and helpful, and did not try to rush us in any way. Two thumbs up, I definitely recommend this place for a nice dinner out.

I ate at Bleu tonight and I have to say, I was very disappointed. The atmosphere was non-existent but it was the only place that we could get into as the places we wanted to eat in were booked solid. My starters of seared scallops, black pudding and creamed potatoes weren't without their charm but left me feeling that they could have been a lot better. The main course of crab linguine with chilli, lime and basil however, was appalling. I would expect a dish like this to be oil-based and not served with a cream sauce. I couldn't taste the chilli, lime or basil - never mind the crab! On the up side, the staff were friendly and efficient. Overall - a poor experience.

My wife and I had a lovely meal in Bleu on Saturday night. We both had starters, main course and dessert and had a 2 bottles of wine as well. The starters came out and you could tell that they were freshly made. We had a nice break in between the main course. The main course came out hot and again you could taste it was made fresh, Throughout our main course, our wine was topped up and our waitress came over to check if we were okay and needed anything else. Definitely recommend the fish and chips. Desserts were beautiful and again fresh. We then had coffees and liqueurs and were not rushed in any way. Ended up staying over 2 and a half hours. The waitress was terrific and the food was superb, I will recommend everyone to go to Bleu and will be back. Well done. An excellent evening.

Have never commented on these sites before (always thought they were just made up anyway) but ate in Bleu on Dawson Street over the weekend for the first time and unearthed a gem in dining out in Dublin city. The food was great (Starters: Rocket and Risotto, Mains: Chicken and Venison, Dessert: Choc brownie) but it was the service that impressed me most. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with a warm smile and everything just ran smoothly from there. The staff were efficient without being overbearing and overall was really impressed-Already planning my next visit!

Myself and my boyfriend went her for our anniversary and what a disappointment. They didn't have our booking, 2 different members of staff questioned me when I wanted to keep my started cutlery to taste my boyfriends starter. The chicken was dry, which is disgraceful when you are paying €25 and it doesn't include a side order. The waitress asked was everything ok and I said 'No it was very dry', then she disappeared and didn't come back with the dessert menus. My boyfriend was so annoyed by the poor service he didn't have a dessert and he usually NEVER leaves a restaurant without a dessert. Poor service and poor food, would not recommend at all.

Went here on Saturday night. The Atmosphere was good but a little bit too loud. The food quality was not great. Had the fish cakes for starters but nothing great, for my main course I had the sea bass, which was just ok. Last of all I had the cheese board it was the worst ever was overpriced for what it was (terrible)

Cool restaurant, trendy atmosphere, however squeezed 5 of us on a 4-person table! Food was good all round, however I do realise why French ladies are so thin if the portion sizes are this small!!! Good Pinot, we guzzled 3 bottles!

Ate there last Friday, and were pretty disappointed. It doesn't happen often that a starter, main course (including side dish) and dessert left me wanting more, but this one did, and not because the food was so good, but because there wasn't enough of it! Main course and dessert were fine (although nothing special), but the scallop starter was a real disappointment. I also think the tables are far too close together. Overall not an experience I am likely to repeat.

The atmosphere is great in this restaurant and it has a real buzz about the place. The clever combination of quality ingredients is well accomplished by head chef Shane O’Neil. A laid back approach to dining in Dublin’s city centre. Really worth a visit.

I'd eaten in Bleu a few times, on Saturday nights and have always been impressed with the quality of food and service so I was delighted when our work place chose Bleu for our Christmas Party. For a mixed bunch of eclectics, fusspots and foodies, Bleu met everyone’s requirement. There was nothing more they could have done for us, the food was brilliant and the service very friendly and efficient. As we took over the whole restaurant, our main concern was that people would only be getting their starters when others were getting their mains, but as a result of the kitchen staff and managements professionalism it was not to be a concern. I'd highly recommend Bleu for any occasion.

Not unpleasant but bit too ordinary for the money. My last main course was pan-fried breast of pheasant. I give kudos for putting seasonal and slightly different options on the menu. Kudos pretty much stopped right there for what was a mediocre dish. A tough breast on average mash with slightly dull presentation did little to impress. Service was good. The acoustics in this room are awful and if there's a large group nearby you'll struggle to maintain audible conversation. Also a "Bistro Moderne" decorated in this style needs to be kept pristine and immaculate condition. The fact that some of the woodwork is scratched and the glass grimy makes this place look a bit tatty round the edges. This isn't a bad restaurant but I don't think it achieves what it sets out to do. An Eamonn O'Reilly owned establishment should be capable of better.

Had a delicious lamb dish but dessert wasn't too impressive. Got my cappuccino in a glass mug, which ruined the meal. Reasonable service and atmosphere, plenty of nice looking things on the menu so may return...if someone else pays...

Ate there very early evening - so not much atmosphere. The waiting staff were friendly and the wine list was extensive (or should that be expensive!). The accent is very definitely on fish and the lack of variety of other dishes would not encourage a regular booking from me. However, the quality and appearance of what was served was very good.

Went there on a very busy Saturday night with a gang of girls. It was the annual Girls Christmas party, well, the Service was excellent, the food delicious and the atmosphere was brilliant. Stayed the whole night there and there was no complaints from any of us. Definitely worth a visit and enjoy the night.

I went here a few weeks ago and found the food to be really good I ordered scallops for starters and sea bass for the main meal, and both were lovely. The only down side to this restaurant is that the tables are quite small and are all crammed together giving it a quite claustrophobic feel.

Went to Bleu this week with a large group of people for dinner. The food was absolutely gorgeous (although not a lot of it) and the service was fantastic. Nobody was kept waiting for anything and the staff were polite and smiling all evening. The only downside was the toilets. There are only two communal toilets and they can get a bit messy after a while (I blame the men!).

I went to Bleu with a group of 9 for a special occasion. We were utterly disappointed with everything. We were seated at a table fit for 6 and could barely move. The plates hardly fit on the table and to get up to use the toilet was a huge ordeal. The food was average and the staff were untrained. I was extremely surprised that a sister restaurant of the renowned One Pico could fall so short. What made matters worse was when we complained about the table we were disregarded. We called the restaurant the day after to put forward our complaint and we are being sent complementary vouchers. We hope that we will enjoy the experience the next time, we will keep you informed.

Unbelievably good restaurant. Went there this time last year and thought that it was absolutely amazing.
