have been to Lotts many times, the front bar is lovely and cosy if you want to watch sport. The food is really great but some of the portions are a little small, ok for lunch but a bit small for dinner. I had the pasta which was great, my hubbie and daughter had the red curry far to small a portion but so tasty. The manager Dave has always been helpful and so good at his job he seems to work hard as they are usually very busy, and the waiting staff as well cant leave them out. Looking forward to another visit when in town.

Had one of those deal vouchers for "Brunch OR Full Irish Breakfast" here, which I used last Saturday. Was treated with utter disdain by some guy I presume was manager. He first of all spun a yarn that the brunch option had been a typo on the voucher, that it was full Irish breakfast only. Subsequently another table, with the same voucher was offered the brunch option by another waiter. My friend and I then waited for half an hour for the breakfast (how long does it take to fry a few sausages??), all the while waiting for our tea and coffee to arrive - we had to ask twice. When the breakfast did arrive, it was awful. Think of the worst greasy spoon and it would not be close to the mark. Soggy rashers, uncooked mushrooms. Just terrible. I was embarrassed after inviting a friend to this place. Never again,

Wow this is a busy spot for drinks after work on a Friday! Good job I booked a table through menupages! I hadnt been for the early bird before but there were plenty of choices and two courses plus coffee for €13.95 was a good price. I had the bruchetta and the chicken sandwich and my companion had the soup and the lamb burger. All the food was lovely. They have an offer for a bottle of house wine half price if you order the early bird but I had already ordered a pitcher of beer for €10 before I noticed. Well worth a visit. Recommended!

Yesterday was my second time to be in the lotts with my friends from work. I cannot recommend this place more highly. The staff are soooo helpful and the food is fantastic. We had platters both times we were here and there was just so much food on it. I was able to swap some of the platter items for other items on the menu for no extra charge and to top it all all we got free curly wurlys !!! This is a great spot. The atmosphere is chilled, the music is good, great selection of food and drinks...its fantastic for a night out with the girls or the work mates

Visted here for a late lunch last Friday. Had the BLT and my companion had the steak sandwich. Both arrived quickly and were very tasty and were accompanied by lovely chips and salad. Quite good value for money for what you got.

Quick burgers purchased here on Saturday night.. drink here regularly enough so thought we would chance it. My boyfriend ordered a lamb burger and I ordered a beef burger. Both were quite dry, mine especially. The chips were very oily also. On the lamb burger, the peppers still had the middle left in them - not appetising or appealing on the plate Quite disappointed with the place to be honest! It was late in the day but still, wouldn't pay €11 for a burger here again

Have drank and ate here before a few years ago and it was a lovely experience and food was great. On this occasion we visited on a Sun, to start with they gace me a dirty glass for my OJ. I order the special Irish Stew with mash, and was so disappointed, i wanted to get this so that i could share it with my son who is 2. I got less than a table spoon of mash in the center of my dish, the plate/bowl was huge but the stew sat shallow in it. I must have had about 9 small bits of meat in it, it had gone cold coz there was hardly any in the dish. I was so disappointed as it was €10.95? for the dish. My husband tried the lamb burger, which was served with raw cooked courgettes, it was more like a big meat ball on a wrap, he didnt finish it! From the time we got in here to when we finished our meal and left was 30mins, very dis satisfied to have spent over 50 euros for what was our Sunday family meal. Put it down to experience. Staff was very friendly though aside from the poor food.

Huge portions, very good value pubgrub. The waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. I have come here often for a drink and all staff is very pleasant. Will soon return for the very cheap early bird (14€)

Just popped along to The Lotts for a coffee with a friend after shopping as there were a couple of seats outside in the sun and we're both smokers. Ordered 2 cappucinos and was charged €6.00! What looked like 2 large frothy cappucinos were served. At that price I was expecting a couple of generous shots of really good espresso. What we got tasted like warm watered down milk. There was a mild brown colour so I knew that some coffee had been put in the cup but you couldn't taste it. The guy who served at the bar was passing by so I mentioned how weak they were and he offered to bring out some more coffee. He arrived back about 10 minutes later with a small tea pot(!) of filtered coffee! They clearly don't know how to make a cappucino but certainly know how to charge for one. Would never go back for coffee. I've had food here before and it's not bad.

I really enjoy this bar(not to be confused with the adjoining lotts pub). Its got striking decor which reminds me of the bar scene in 'The Shining' where Jack's up at the bar having a drink with old Jeevsie!. Funnily for me its best to visit when its quiet and empty as its at its best this way. The bar staff are good and the food and sometimes cocktails can be reasonable.

Great place for an afterwork dinner. Had been to the bar a few years ago but ate here for the first time last night. Lovely decor, pleasant staff and super food. Had a fantastic pasta dish and a beer for less than €15. Very tasty and a nice size portion. The chef even came to our table to ask if everything was ok, can't remember that happening before in a a pub. Will definitely be back!!!

Went here for dinner after work with a group of friends. Everyone had a great time, we split a bunch of starters which were all lovely. The service was very good, the main courses arrived soon afterwards. It has a good atmosphere without being too loud to hear everyone, like at some other places. Overall a great place to eat and drink and spend a few hours!

Dear Mr. Fitzpatrick, Thank you for responding to my review. I can see now that it's no fault of yours that the menu displayed on menupages is not the correct one, hopefully menupages will update it soon. In response to your point about failing to mention that the table had a reserved sign on it..we had almost sat down at one of the other tables that did have a reserved sign, but of course noticed the sign and went to sit at a free table, as we were planning on a long stay. The three of us are sure there was no sign, it was not until a watiress brought our meal and mentioned that we'd have to give up the table soon, that she put a reserved sign on it. My friend said she thought she saw her pick it up, so I'm realising now that most likely the reserved sign slipped onto the floor before we arrived. In that case it was just a missunderstanding on both our parts, and I regret the harshness of my review, as I've always had pleasant experiences in Lotts in the past. Thank you for your kind offer of a complimentary bottle of wine, we shall enjoy it the next time we have dinner in Lotts and will post a happier review afterweards!

In the snowiest night of the last 30 years we arrived at Lotts- before heading for the cinema. I had not eaten nor visit the cool modern/traditional pub in a few years, ever since my football team lost twice in a row and I watched both games at the huge screens...I felt I had enough bad luck :( The food at Lotts continues to be better than at most pubs in town, The Moroccan burger did not dissappoint nor did the chickedn curry- although they were not impressive either, just good. Service was really good and accommodating for such difficult night with the weather outside been horrendous/memorable, depending on how you look at it, a loads of people inside with high noise volumes. But a good experience overall.

A very poor show compared to what I remembered. I last visited the Lotts in 2008, and enjoyed a solid if unadventurous menu. Yesterday's visit was throughly disappointing. My beetroot and goats cheese salad looked like it had been thrown together at a great height - it was a sticky, damp, unappealing mess. The sauce was bland, the leaves bedraggled, and the cheese gluey and wet. Strangely, there were two kinds of tomato - wedges and slices. Despite the variety, the tomato was cheap and tasteless. My companion had fettucine with mushrooms, which were slimy, old and with limp pasta. Everything looked reheated. It goes without saying, but 10 euro was far too much for far too little.

Had a nice evening here with a friend. I had the seafood chowder and mussels which were delicious, especially the mussels. My friend had the hummous and the mushroom pasta which she enjoyed. Cheap enough. Would return if passing through the area

Went here for lunch with my boyfriend and I will never return again. I couldn’t believe the size of the portions for what they were charging. I had the Chicken Burger and Chips and my boyfriend had the Steak and Chips. I got 6 Chips with my Burger and that was it. My boyfriend got a huge plate with 10 Chips and a piece of Steak, nothing else. There were no Side Salads on either plate and no Mushrooms, Onions etc with my boyfriends Steak. The food was nice but we were both still hungry afterwards, definitely not worth 27 Euro when there are so many bargains to be had at the moment in good Restaurants.

Went here for dinner last night. Food was really yummy for the price. I had lovely calamari with a gorgeous garlic dip for starter and my main course of a chicken in a ciabatta roll was great. Chicken seems to be something tha tmost restaurants don;t bother to do anything nice with but here an dchicken was tender and had great flavour. The servie however was quite slow. Drinks came after our food and I had to ask twice for my second glass of wine.

I came here with a few friends this week for some food/drinks. the service was very slow. As a vegetarian, I didn't have much choice but the creamy mushroom fettuccine was delicious. Overall, the whole dining experience was just alright.

Had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon and wasn't very impressed. I had the caesar salad which was okay apart from the fact it had prunes in it. My partner had the steak sandwich which was quite fatty even for him who isn't too fussy about a bit of fat and also had prunes on it. Won't go back.

The Lotts is a really nice pub with cosy little areas to eat. The service was good and the food came nice and quickly. I had the cod which came with a baked potatoe. Very nice for expect for a very odd citrus butter which came with it. There was some nice live music too which added to the experience.

Wasn't mad on the food here to be honest! I've been here twice now. There was very little choice for non-meat eaters, to be honest. There was no salmon available on the night I visited, so that only left two options - fish and chips, and a lentil curry. The curry was odd, it came without rice, and although it was tasty enough (though mushy) it had sun dried tomatoes in it!!!! I asked for rice separately, but none was available. I won't be coming back for food here, but I do like the atmosphere and would recommend it for a few drinks. There are nicer places to eat than here.

Stumbled across The Lotts today and was really impressed. Great atmosphere, great decor and good food. Had the open chicken sandwich - much more appetising than it looked. My friend had the Roast chicken which was also good. Great location and a comfortable place - will def be back.

Had dinner here on Sunday as we were in the area. Had to wait for 15mins for a table which was fine. Was quite busy with an after shopping/never made it to the shops crowd! Nice atmosphere. Its a nice bar with good character. Ordered garlic bread between 3 for starters - ciabata with swiss cheese melted. Was very tasty but maybe a bit too greesy. I had chicken supreme which was really good and a decent serving, steak sandwich was massive but friend was really dissappointed with the pan seared beef - though the beef was good quality and tasty and the pototoes likewise thats literally all there was. A small fillet of beef resting on a small bed of mash. It was too small to fill someone and too small for €20. There wasnt a veg in sight and not even a garnish. More effort and more food required here. Service was good. Fairly good value except the beef. Will probably try it again.

Came here for dinner and was not impressed at all. I ordered a burger that came on a stale bun that had been toasted - it was absolutely solid! The risotto that was ordered was like soggy rice. I have eaten in here previously and was rather impressed by the food but i will not be back after this experience.

Very disappointed, was there for lunch and ordered the bangers and mash. Looked nice when it arrived, although before I started eating, the waitress took my salt and pepper off my table even tho I clearly hadn't used it. Never mind, my meal was so salty I definitely didn't need it. There was a good taste of venison off the sausages, and the potatoes were very creamy. That's about all I can say. It was super salty, the potatoes felt microwaved, and the gravy was oily. However, what really got me, was that caramelised onions were the second listed ingredient - I got about a teaspoon of them which was no where near enough. When I asked for a bit more sauce, she told me I'd have to buy a side order of onions if I wanted more. Totally unacceptable - its supposed to be part of the dish. When I went to pay (and I was clearly in a hurry), she disappeared in the middle of taking my card to attend to another table. Not good, and very expensive at €15 for sausages and mash.

i cant believe the last review posted about the Lott's as i have always found the Lott's to be one of the better restaurants to go in town and yet it ain't a restaurant or priced as a restaurant and serves beautiful restaurant menus. so many of my favourite dishes i have had in Dublin are in the Lott's..they just get a lot of the simple things right, the pasta, the homemade Italian bread, the gourmet coffee, the salads are divine and the burger is def worth a try-it has to be the best burger in town. so that is why i don't understand that lady's comments..put some people just don't know good honest food when they see it and would be much happier with a plate of greasy chips and 10 day old battered cod. speaking of seafood,my friend is a regular at the Lott's and she doesn't shut up about the salmon there. i always find the staff so friendly as well ,almost like they all enjoy working there which is a very unique thing here in Irish bars and restaurants. the Lott's is certainly one of my favourite spots to go for some good honest and healthy food, the last visit the waitress also told me that all the food is cooked to order and nothing is microwaved, deep fried or frozen and that they cater for vegans and coeliacs which is also quiet unique nowadays. anybody i have ever spoke to about the Lott's really rave on about it..so keep up the good work guys

Good service, terrible food. I went to the Lotts on Friday night for a couple of drinks and some bar food. A waitress showed us to a table, and offered us a larger one when it became available, which was nice. We decided to order some chicken wings and some cheesy garlic bread (not exactly haute cuisine, I know). The garlic bread was pre-sliced cheese on wholemeal sliced pan with garlic butter on it. It was lukewarm. The chicken wings seemed to be cooked from frozen and had no flavour. The waitress did not ask us how everything was. I have noticed this a lot recently in bard and restaurants that are under par. Don't ask and you might not be told. The food was lazy and disappointing. We left straight away rather than spend any more cash in the place. It's a shame, as the food there used to be so much better.

Have eaten here a few times, some good some bad.Tasty sandwiches or "gourmet sandwiches" as they call them, not exactly gourmet but nice none the less.I also tried their pasta dish which although referred to on the menu as spiced , had lots of undissolved sugar in it!! But overall a nice relaxing place with pleasant staff and decent enough food.

I have been back again and again. Its a great place to meet with pals or go for a nice romantic lunch in the city centre. The food is very good even if you go for a simple ceaser salad...dressings are very tasty and the service is top class.

This is a brilliant old-style pub, different from any other pub I have ever gone into. I went there with three of my friends two weeks ago, just having a drink and some chips, but even so, it was lovely. The staff were pleasant, the food was great, and I would definitely come again.

I've eaten here a few times now and can see myself returning again and again. The Lotts just gets so many simple but important things right. It's not haute cuisine, it's not trying to be. It's actually quite a combination; a cafe, a bar, a restaurant and function place. I have to first commend the service. In a city where in the mid-price range, sadly you expect the bare minimum to be the best you're going to get, this place gets it right. The staff are young but this is no draw-back; they obviously like working here. They're friendly, eager to please and do their job well. As for the food, I've been veering towards their healthier fare for interest's sake as someone told me the chef is a passionate vegan (I don't know if this is actually true! Fair play if he/she is, given the great meat and fowl dishes on the menu). I truly enjoyed the Healthy Platter on my third last visit; I was nervous that it'd be worthy but dull and tasteless but was delighted to be served some freshly roasted nuts, a fab home-made hummus, a zingy ginger and carrot soup and assorted crudites. Another nice touch The Lotts have is their complimentary evening warmer; they bring you freshly baked warm bread and a little taster of one of their home-made soups. Free! In Rip-Off Ireland. My latest dinner dish there was the over-baked salmon. Not being overly hungry, this sounded perfect and proven just that. Crunchy sweet cooked cabbage and the salmon just nicely roasted. Yes, you can cook this at home but other places murder equally simple dishes at twice the price. My Mum had the spiced chickpeas and found them delicious. As for the place itself, as someone said to me when recommending it to me, once you step inside, you could be in Paris, Berlin or some other great European city. If you haven't checked this place out, do.

Where has the taste gone? I have eaten here a few times, as Lotts Cafe is close to my office - however I have to say the menu and quality have gone downhill rapidly - last time I ate here the food was not only very late - but utterly tasteless and colorless. Not recommended, I'm afraid.

I have eaten here a few times and it always impresses. The food is excellent here and good value. They also give a complimentary sample of soup (in espresso cups) with bread which is a nice touch. The service is also great. They have some unusual dishes on the menu which is great instead of the standard pub fare. Would recommend

I rarely cross the Liffey only to go to the Italian Quarter or Lott’s!! It’s a lovely pub and quite a surprise in the middle of this horrible shopping thoroughfare. The decor is beautiful. I haven't eaten there but have had a pint with hubbie on a Saturday afternoon and met friends for wine at night, when a piano player was in residence. Great spot.

Wonderful sausage and mash. You can easily tell all the food in this restaurant is freshly prepared from good quality ingredients which sadly is a rarity in Dublin lately so this is a gem not to be missed.

I find The Lotts Cafe Bar is a great place to drop in after work or when in town shopping. There is a good atmosphere and the place is always bustling with a mix of shoppers, after work people or a few punters in to enjoy a few drinks. The food is tasty and good value and the service is normally excellent.

I was surprised and delighted to find such value for money in such a great location. Having passed this place by many times, I decided to finally try out the menu having read the reviews below. The atmosphere, decor and service were all fantastic but I did have mixed reactions about the food. The soup served in espresso cups was a great idea and we were all very impressed by the great crusty bread that was served with it. For mains I had the scallop salad with beautifully cooked scallops (at a very reasonable price). The salad itself was, however, hard to fathom. The amount of sundried tomatoes totally overwhlemed the taste of the seafood which was a real pity. I did try my boyfriend's sausages and mash and thought they were gorgeous. Would definitely order those again. I will definitely be back but will stick to the hearty food that they seem to do well.

This place is perfect for meeting friends. Not only can you order your wine by the glass - which is useful when you don't want what everyone else is having, but there's music added too so there's a great atmosphere! I met a friend here last week and we had a great time. The food was really well prepared and very tasty. We also got the complimentary espresso cup of soup while we were waiting for our starters which was delicious with bread that was very obviously straight from the oven. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful that we added a big tip to the very reasonable bill.

It's the little things that make this place worth a visit. Whilst waiting for our mains at lunch a little espresso cup of soup was brought to each person at the table with some bread, all complimentary of course. I found this a lovely touch to take the edge of the appetite. The menu was varied enough to please the whole group & I especially love the honesty of the staff when asked questions about the food.

I've been here a good few times and must say that food is always excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful. Superb atmosphere and one more think.... the best Fillet of Beef I've ever had-it's something I could die for!

Foodies will be pleasantly surprised by this unassuming café bar. This is the tastiest food you'll get in this price range in Dublin. I went to meet a friend for dinner there a few weeks ago. Service was prompt and friendly. We got freebie starters of mini-cups of the most delicious potato soup and crusty fresh seed bread- a lovely little touch. As someone who is very fussy about fish, I found my baked cod out of this world. It tasted fresh and cooked just perfectly, and served with a baked potato and quirky side salad. My friend's steak sandwich was 'perfect'. Dessert of an apple and nut crumble was homemade and very flavoursome. I'll most certainly be back.

I find this place perfect when I meet up with friends in town, there are so few nice places to eat around O'Connell street where you can just pop in. I've eaten here about 3 times now and it's always been lovely. Last time I had the chicken and blue cheese pasta and my boyfriend had the beef bap. There's a great relaxed atmosphere and the decor is really lovely

Will only cross the bridge for two reasons, this place and the Italian Quarter! A lovely little pub. The decor is bright and sunny but old fashioned as well. Food is nice and great place for little snacks. You would never think the horrors of Henry Street were only a stones throw away!

A local spot for a few drinks with my boyfriend, which are always enjoyable, I find the staff to be very friendly especially the girls that served us in the main part of the bar. My friend and I had a 'beef bap' for lunch with sautéed potatoes, all cooked well, an espresso full of soup arrived before our burgers did which was a cute gesture! The prices are a little but much for what you get. Come here for the decor, staff and a few drinks to relax and unwind and watch the world go by!!

Strangely enough I would have to disagree with a lot of the reviews on this place. I had heard lots about it and one rainy evening decided to pop in for dinner with a friend. We both had the sweet chilli chicken noodle dish and neither of us were impressed, the noodles tasted like they were from a packet and the sauce was far too tangy, but different strokes for different folks I guess, the interior is lovely and the food is reasonably priced but it is not somewhere I would be rushing back to.

I found this place one rainy evening and am now addicted to their sausage and mash! It's easily the nicest place in this price bracket to eat around the Henry St/O'Connell St area. Food is really tasty and the menu is quite broad and very reasonable for the portions served. The complimentary fresh bread is a great touch. Everybody who's served me so far has been efficient and friendly. The only drawback is it can get very loud - but then it is a pub...

Completely agree with the last review. This place is excellent for lunch especially. Lovely touches - fresh bread arrives when you order your main course that is warm at the table so the butter melts on it. Lovely friendly service and even on some occasions a wonderful pianist plays live in the background with jazz versions of many popular tunes. Its especially great in winter when the fire is lit and you can get in that nice pint of Guinness! A real gem that’s tucked away just off Liffey Street.

What a find! Often a shopping trip on the north side of the city is ruined by the pathetic choice of eateries for a reviving lunch. However on New Years Eve we happened upon Lotts. Large leather couches and an innovative menu. Soup of the day was served with warm crusty bread and the chilli chicken salad was a meal in itself! Service was friendly and excellent. Will definitely be back!
