Please note: Soikoth is now closed. The food here was tasty and staff friendly. I love Indian food and the Lamb Biriyani at Soikoth was really good, being served with a side of veg curry. Unfortunately, the last restaurant at this venue also suffered the same fate- the location just isn't great for anything besides fish n' chips. Pity to see it closed.

Lovely restaurant, good food, but something's missing, unfortunately it has a bad location, so maybe they should have lower prices to make up for it?

Poor. I wonder has this place changed ownership in the period since these other reviews - because this is a poor restaurant. Prices were quite good - our meal for 3 (2 courses each and several soft drinks) came to €85. Service was courteous, but slow (surprising at 6pm, and we were the only diners there!). Most disappointing was the food itself - it was bland-tasting throughout (despite one of us ordering the 'hot' chilli garlic meal) and greasy, in the case of the rice and the complimentary poppadums - we wondered whether the chef was wholly inexperienced. I'm genuinely sorry to report all this, because the area needs a good restaurant.Sadly, this most definitely isn't it. We won't be back. Other reviewers have mentioned the poor location -all the more reason to wish the place well, but the ambience wasn't helped by the group of stone-throwing youths who passed a minute or two outside during our meal. I was glad I parked around the corner.

Hi visited Soikoth with my three friends who I had travelled in India with and we felt like we were back there! The staff were genuinely nice, the food was fantastic and the price was right! We lingered over our meal and there was no rushing us out when we finished. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a great dinner out!

Fantastic food! I really cannot fault this restaurant. The staff was so friendly and welcoming and the food was really, really good. They put together a plate of a few starters for us after we could not really decide what we wanted. We really appreciated that. They have a great wine menu and our meals were fantastic! So tasty. We would really recommend this restaurant. Hope they will be around for a long time! We will definately eat there again!

Stunning Indian food. This is a humble, unassuming restaurant/take-away with a minimal but adequate wine list and basic but friendly service. When your Chef's Special (Tandoori platter) starter arrives, it will quickly dispel any misgivings that the out-of-the-way location might have given you on your arrival. The meat is cooked to juicy perfection. The only disappointment for me was on seeing the inevitable Sub Zero dessert menu at the end of the meal. So, skip dessert (have some ice cream waiting back at home), if you are a fussy wine-drinker perhaps phone up and see if you can BYOB, but by all means jump in a taxi and take the five-minute trip from O'Connell Street to eat in one of Dublin's newest hidden gems. This is a recession-friendly restaurant, and I mean that in the nicest possible way.

My partner and I got a take away from this restaurant, my partner wanted a dish that wasn't on the menu so they cooked it for him. The food was very good, large portions, and they even throw in two free beers. We will definitely be eating there again

My girlfriend and I went here on a Tuesday. We wanted to try out this new place - only open for 7 weeks. The place is beautiful but was empty - only two people came in for takeaway in the time we were there. Our servers were extremely friendly...absolutely perfect. The selection of food was great at reasonable prices - we both got a great Early Bird. I'm not a big fan of Indian but the food here was absolutely gorgeous. I really enjoyed it. The only thing going against this place is of course is its location, but let's get over ourselves. It is well worth going to and I will be returning.

Soikoth is not open long - since the start of September 08 or so. It suffers badly from its location at the Ballybough end of Clonliffe Road. They have quite a varied menu of Bengali and Indian dishes and the portion sizes are very generous. They also have a set dinner for two menu which is very good value. I had the Onion Bhajee as a starter and my companion had the Aloo Choop - mashed potato filled with minced lamb. Both were delicious and came with generous trimmings. I followed with Murghi Tikka Masala and my friend had the Vegetable Biryani which came with a very tasty dhal. Disappointingly, they were out of Cobra and Tiger when we visited so we had to make do with Heineken, but I suppose you can't have everything. We were provided with traditional Bangladeshi desserts on the house, which was a nice touch. They have a set menu for two people for €27.95. Good value indeed. The restaurant wasn't busy for a Thursday night - there was one customer there before us and while a couple of women looked at the menu while we were there, they didn't come in. This is such a shame because the food and service is very good and there are certainly enough people living within walking distance or a short bus ride to give Soikoth enough business to survive. It's right on the 123 bus route and every bus that passed us was full of people looking in. Please people, give these small businesses your custom. Don't just say - 'oh we must try there sometime', say 'let's go there tonight!! I will certainly go back to Soikoth - I enjoyed the food, it's not expensive and I believe small ethnic restaurants are worth supporting. I hope it survives.
