This wasn't my first visit to this restaurant and it wont be my last. We where greated by friendly staff who where really nice the whole night through. I started off with the mushrooms, which was lovely and than the fresh crab, which was mouth watering. It was very reasonable in price and I do think everyone enjoyed themselves. This place is ideal if you want to head into town after your meal and there's a really buzz to it. This will not be my last visit to this place.

Myself and 5 pals love this hidden gem - the excellent location, ambience, friendly and professional service, and above all, the delicious food. We all opted for the €20 menu which is exceptionally good value. There is a good selection of starters, mains and desserts, the portions are very generous, and the food is beautifully presented and is simply delicious. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

Have been to Il Vignardo before and again for lunch today. Good staff, although busy enough. Best starter is still the bruschetta. They really do it well, though you won't be kissing anyone after it due to lots of garlic. All starters and main course enjoyed by everyone. The carbonara and salmon being the stand out mains. We even squeezed in desserts. The creme brulee and apple pie were particularly good. They never fail to please in Il Vignardo.

Myself and 3 girlfriend were heading to the o2 for a " Girls Night Out " last sunday night and started the night off with dinner and drinks. The set menu was brilliant value at 20 euro a head. Great selection, food was excellent. The staff as usual were very pleasent . None of my 3 friends had been before and were very impressed I have been there many time and knew they would enjoy it. The bill came to 100.00 euro and that was including a bottle of wine. Great value all round !!

A nicely decorated interior, with the kitchen open to the restaurant. It was very quiet when we arrived, even for a saturday night. We both had soup to start, which was full of flavour and we both enjoyed. For the mains I had a pasta dish, which had barely any chilli even though I asked for extra chilli and there was a lot of oil in the bottom of the bowl. It was still nice enough though. Himself the Calzone, which had a bit too much salt and the portion was too big. Not sure about return visit.

Restaurant is in a great location- straight across from the main bus terminal, in Isaacs Hotel. The room is large and a sort of vaulted, painted white, with loads of al fresco decoration. Very pleasant, bit like a Prague basement restaurant feel with an Italian twist. I was in a hurry and ordered the early bird special pasta. The on line menu shows 9.90 but last Tuesday the board showed €8.75 and that was what I paid. The pasta I selected was the Marinara and it was goood! The pasta looked and tasted fresh , the tomato sauce was really good and the dish was full of shell fish , (mussels and prawns) and some squid also. Really good food and amazing value for either €8.75 or €9.90. Service was prompt and I really liked the fact that the Parmesan cheese was freshly grated over the plate. If there are smokers in your party there is a little court yard off the restaurant, with tables, umbrellas and heating - nice for a drink or coffee. Will be back.

Likethis place. Food is fine, staff friendly. Great value for money. Probably best pizza in Dublin,I especially love the way you can order a slice of pizza (or more!), that way you can try out a few types rather than just one. Very handy for lunch or dinner. Thanks again

Went here last night with 3 others. We all availed of the set menu for €20. excellent value. Food was really good. The reason I docked the half point for food, was the apple pie...it wasn't like any other apple pie I've seen or tasted! Unusual though not entirely unpleasant! I would definitely go again.

Me and my friend availed of the early bird menu at this restaurant on a Friday night and the service here was very friendly and efficient. For starters, the bruschetta was tasty. Although, having just returned from a holiday in Italy, my standards had become particularly high, and the dish was not anywhere near as tasty as the ones I'd experienced in the mother country. The Caesar salad was just what you would expect, no frills or unexpected additions. My friend, who order a chicken pesto dish, reported that it was very enjoyable also. The early bird menu here represents good value and choice and the atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and buzzing.

Myself & my husband have been dining in Il Vignardo's for about 4 years now ,on a fairly regular basis.& have always loved it there, the friendly & helpful service ,the food the value. We always bring visitors there. We actually hosted our Wedding Reception there in Feb.& all I can say is it was supberb,From the table set up ,the great food, the wonderful friendly efficient service, the whole ambience, really made our day.All our guests are still talking about how wonderful the whole set up was.the staff were so helpful before the Wedding & worked to our budget.I can honestly say if I had to do it all again and had a choice of anywhere I would still pick 'IL Vignardo' And we will recommend this to our friends as a Restaurant & a great venue for a Function

I went to Il Vignardo with a large group of friends last Wednesday and a nice meal was had by all. Their €20 4 course set menu is very hard to beat in terms of value. However it would have been nice to have been offered the menu rather than having to ask for it. If the meal's organiser hadn't known about it we would have ended up spending a lot more. There were no complaints once the food arrived though, the bruschetta was delectable and practically melted in the mouth. My main of carbonara seemed like a small portion when it arrived but was rich and filling and turned out to be perfectly sized. A nice boozey tiramisu to follow and I left happy. Service was a little sniffy all night, they didn't exactly seem pleased to see us but was at least effective and we never wanted for anything.

Had a great meal here on Thursday evening. We both had pasta dishes and both were very nice. We had garlic bread to start and this was really, really nice and the portion size very generous. Wine was just okay... poor choice on our part. Really good value restaurant, I would recommend it.

First time to this restaurant. The decor was lovely. The restaurant wasn't busy so we were seated straight away. The waitress was very pleasant and efficient. Food was good, We had the bruschetta to start and for mains I had the mushroom pasta and my friend had the pizza, which was excellent. Great value for money. Will definitely re-visit.

The first thing that strikes you when you go here is the decor, it is very tastefuly decorated and it feels like you are in a vineyard! The food is also amazing. Their garlic and cheese bread for starter is like a big pizza, four of us shared it. For the main course, I had many vegetarian choices and went for the creamy pasta which was delicious! I was very full at this stage so I skipped dessert even though they all sounded lovely. Would definitely recommend and would go there myself again!

Surprised by some of the reviews here as I have been here about 6 times and have always been happy with the food. I had lovely caesar salad to start and vegetarian pizza with a nice crispy base. Finished with coffee and baked cheese cake which was delicious (they had run out of tiramisu which is the usual dessert along with apple tart on the set menu). Fantastic value for money, €20 for 4 courses. Agree however that the service can sometimes be slow, they never seem to have many staff on.

Revisted this regular haunt for a quick bite before going to the cinema. Great deal on pizza/pasta for €9.90, be warned though it doesn't cover "Al Forno" (the pastas cooked in the oven) even though it is pasta and is only finished in the oven for a few minutes! We ordered garlic bread to start to share and then baked chicken, gorgonzola and spinach pasta each for mains. We waited almost 25mins to be told by the manager that there was a delay with the bread and that it would be a bit longer, did we still want it!!! So we opted to have the starter and main together. The pasta arrived with a very small amount of chicken and a leaf of spinach. Aside from the portion size the flavor was lovely and having to eat the bread at the same time certainly filled us up. When we got the bill the issue with these dishes not been included in the deal arose. We just couldn't get our head around a pasta dish that was finished in the oven for all of two minutes wasn't classed as pasta for the €9.90 deal. When we raised it with the waitress she couldn't answer us and just walked off, on watching her we realised she was getting the manager. Although it would have been nicer for her to say that she was doing. After a brief discussion, the Manager agreed to charge us the same as the deal. Service has certainly dropped since my last visit, but I think the fact was so busy with a Friday after work eaters and only two people waiting tables had some reason to do with this. Would I return - yes, as it is a good for a quick bite or meeting with friends. Just dont expect too much.

I went here with party of 11 for lunch. The menu has pizza, pasta, salads and meat dishes. Something for everyone. I had chicken carractiota. It was very nice but I found the chips a bit oversalted. Everyone seemed to enjoy there meal. We sat and had coffees in the nice relaxed atmosphere. Overall an enjoyable experience but I found the prices a little on the high side for lunch. Definitely a treat!

Dined here with my brother recently having just returned from Italy and hoping to rekindle the experience of good italian pizza at home. Saw they had a wood oven and thougth this be winner. How wrong! Thurs night and few dining so cold atmo and kina tacky decor. Pasta starter ok but 2 pizza mains awful with stoggy base and no sign of the wood stove finish. I fear there is no wood burning there at all just some bulbs! 2 glasses of wine, the white very unpalatable and bill €72. This is not value for money. The same in italy was €25. Staff very nice and friendly but prices off the richter scale and just not worth it.

This is a great central place to meet, opposite Busaras. I came in to Dublin on the Luas, my friend came from Meath on Bus Eireann. We were both surprised to see such a good value menu offered on a Saturday night - €20 for 4 courses and the food was great. We had chicken caesar salad and breaded mushrooms with a garlic dip for starters. We both had the chicken breast with a pesto and panchetta sauce with chips for our main course. Portions were very generous. Hopefully more people will get to know about it as the restaurant is spacious and there weren't many people there.

I eaten at Il Vignardo a good few times now. The food is delicious - and very reasonably priced. we always order bruschetta and garlic bread with mozzarella with pasta for mains. Pollo di pesto or carbonara are a must try when you're there. Absolutely gorgeous. The only complaint I have is one day we were there for lunch and a waitress knocked over a tray of glasses at our table. Chunks of glass went into my handbag onto my seat and onto our table. The waitress didn't apologise but just ran off. Manager came over apologised and asked were we ok. We showed him the glass on the table and he just picked it up. I told him there was glass in my bag and he apologised again. When we were leaving I thought they might have given us the meal on the house but instead he said to be careful with my handbag incase there was glass left in it. I thought it was a poor show of customer service. I have only gone once since and it was simply because I had a craving for the food. To be honest the manager gave me a bad impression and I'd be wondering how well they treat their staff.

I have no idea why this little gem of a restaurant isn't packed to the rafters every night. Sometimes early bird and set price menus mean smaller portions or poorer quality. Not so at Il Vignardo. On my most recent visit, we had the early bird - ideal if you're going out afterwards. I had smoked salmon tagliatelle which had generous pieces of smoked salmon & spinach in a cream sauce. This dish was a delight - well balanced and the sauce was light with just enough for the dish. I hate when dishes are swimming in sauce. My friend had pizza Margherita. This is how pizza should be done I think. Hot and fresh with a thin crust but not too thin and healthy amounts of tomato and cheese. Pizza would never be my first choice but it's so tasty there I was a little sorry I didn't have enough room for the pasta and pizza. Both these dishes are € 9.90 each during the early bird. I've had the € 20 four course menu here too and it's excellent value for money. There's a good variety of dishes to choose from. My only complaint was that I couldn't finish the dessert. I'm pleased that they serve half carafes of house wine (€10.50) - particularly nice if you're the only one drinking wine. I also like that there's a view into the kitchen where you can see the food being prepared. Staff are pleasant and efficient but not intrusive. Once the table has been cleared, you're left to relax after the meal without feeling in the way. Well done everyone at La Vignardo and please keep up the excellent standards.

Very good value Italian. Food was very nice. The garlic bread mozzarela starter is delicious - like a mini pizza so loads to share. Overall an enjoyable except for the music later. About 9 you could hear the music from the nightclub downstairs so maybe not the best place for a romantic night out but such good value definitely worth a visit.

I ate here a number of times in the past and came to the conclusion that I hated it. However I went for lunch (under duress) a couple of weeks ago and was completely surprised at the difference in the service and the food. I remember the food to be reheated frozen mushrooms and Goodfellas pizzas. But things have changed drastically for the better. The service was excellent, attentive without being overbearing and the quality of the food has improved significantly. I had the quattro stagioni pizza which I thoroughly recommend and my friends had a mixture of pizzas, pastas and burgers all of which were received well and enjoyed. Amazing turnaround and based on that I will return.

I've been here a few times for lunch and the food is divine! I highly recommend the Pollo al Pesto! The garlic breads and bruschetta are lovely as starters. Food is great value, service could be better though. They are quick to take your order and serve your food but not so good at coming back to check on you so you might have to go looking for someone if you want another drink! But it's definitely worth a visit for the pasta!

The only positive thing to come out of the evening was the food. We had intended to go elsewhere but because of the poor reviews on Menu Pages we decided on Il Vignardo. Well that was a mistake. This place is geared towards the Lunch time trade. There was no atmosphere and very few customers, and to be honest the decor with the imitation vineyard ceiling is appalling. A good plasterer is urgently required. The food was fresh, and tasty and service was good. However this was the first time when I handed back a dessert. Their 'Homemade' Tiramisu was dreadful. They serve it in a cup, enough said. Do yourself a favour and give this place a miss at evening time.

Must say was I was really very pleasantly surprised with my return visit to this restaurant. Have not eaten in here in about 10 years, so of course lots of changes. 5 of us were going to Abbey Theatre and this is certainly a great location for a pre theatre meal. We were served really fresh Italian food. Portions not too big. Service perfert. Menu is not too large, but a good variety on offer. Wine list reasonable. In some ways the meal was probably the star of the evening rather than the play. I had a pasta dish with a creamy pesto sauce. My friends had deep friend calamari, a starter they chose to have as a main course and another had a pizza. Pizza was on a thin based and certainly no complaints. Bruschetti was fresh and perfect.

I have eaten here a number of times both lunch and dinner, and I have to say the service and food are both excellent, I particularly enjoyed the sea-bass dish and the chicken pesto pasta is fab.... I also really enjoy their selection of pizza's, the base is delicious and is quite light and fluffy! They have an excellent wine list and recently there has been a change to some of their deserts, I must say the change is great- love the cheesecake with raspberry topping. All in all, the food is great, service excellent and great value for money- I will be recommending!

I've eaten here a handful of times for lunch. Usually arrive at 12.30pm when it's only starting to get busy and the service is fine is terms of getting seated and having orders taken, with no major wait for the food. However, once it comes to ordering coffee or dessert, or trying to get the bill, it's a totally different story. It seems like they just can't cope at peak lunch time and I've had to leave several times after waiting about 15/20 mintues for a coffee. The food is pretty good though and also good valus for money. But the service aspect is really irritating and tends to spoil the overall experience.

Food is fab and there is a lunch special of €8.95 for any pasta or pizza. However the wait to be served and for the food is very long so I would recommend pre-ordering if you only have an hour for lunch.

Went for a pre Dublin Fringe Festival dinner here last weekend. Staff were very nice and friendly. We thought the bruchetta and pizza were really good and they were very accommodating changing some of the toppings on the pizza, unlike some other restaurants. We were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant like this in a hotel. Would definitely go back. Great place to know for food before the theatre.

Good value for your money! Great atmosphere! The staff was very friendly and I have to say we didn't expect it to be so busy on a Tue night. The food was very tasty. The only thing we didn't like was the acoustic in the restaurant. We will definitely go back!

Good central location in town - pillars in restaurant means some seats are constantly buzzed as staff race by to serve tables. Special lunch menu with pastas and pizzas at €8.50 per dish is reasonable, but Chicken Caesar salad at €11.50 was poor value for what was received - anaemic salad with tasteless chicken.

Been here a few times for lunch. Good pasta menu but I haven't tried the pizza. Not a spot for a quick lunch but service recently was much faster than a few months ago. Would recommend the Amatriciana pasta, simple dish but done well. Main annoyance is the door out to the smokers area, if you are sitting anywhere near it prepare to be blown away ;-)

It’s a shame to say that I was disappointed with this restaurant. I had been here a few years ago and found the food to be very tasty. So we ventured back last night. We were greeted by a very nice waitress who asked us to hang on while she sorted us a table which was fine we only had to wait 5 mins or so. Our orders were taken promptly. Our starters were fine but the main course was a disaster. My boyfriend ordered the chicken fajitas which to my amazement had the fajitas cut in half which made you think you were getting three when you were only getting one and a half which as one can imagine left the fajita mix pouring out all over the plate and table. I ordered the valdastrana, chicken wrapped in breadcrumb, which when I ate it, was bland and looked and tasted like it had been sitting under lamps for the entire evening. I complained to the manager who very kindly said she'd take my main off the bill and apologised profusely. We decided to stay on and try the desserts which we were glad were very light and very tasty. We were equally satisfied when we were presented with the bill, we were not charged for my main course and our desserts. Its a shame to have to write such a bad review for a restaurant but to leave it on a positive note, the staff were lovely the decor is amazing and the atmosphere is very cosy and intimate.

I read an article in a mag but it was a few years old, stating what a wonderful restaurant it was but I found it empty on a sat night at 8, the food bland and both chefs bored in the kitchen. After eating the main course we didn’t even look at the desert menu, just wanted to leave asap. The staff seemed friendly but not very attentive. I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend.

I find the food here to be very tasty and the service is excellent in a lovely restaurant. The house wine is grand wish the wine selection was better though

Great value, really fast lunch service, exactly what you need if you need to get back to work, but want a tasty lunch. The food is somewhat ordinary but it is great value. In terms of atmosphere - Il Vignardo has a very cold feeling - the vaulted ceiling gives Il Vignardo the kind of atmosphere that just feels like a seaside resort on a wet day. Conversely, wonderful and airy during the summer and a fantastic retreat from hot weather.
