This is great food and even better its fast..I'm not a lover of fast food because it conjures the usual global mega brands when I think of it but this place gives you tasty Mexican food in less than 2 minutes. When I first spotted it I was rushing to meet a friend and hadn't had time for food and I was starving, so I popped in here and seeing I was an obvious first timer by the way my eyes scanned over the menu board of options, the staff were very friendly and helpful and guided me through the different selections. They were also very efficient and I had a burrito in my hand within minutes. I went with shredded chicken, salsa verde options, I also got the add ons of the jalapeno peppers and guacamole. It was delicious and a good size, Since then I've bought a few people here, it's great if you are rushing for the cinema but still need to eat. It's not somewhere I would sit around for a long time catching up with mates but still it's comfortable enough to finish some tacos. A friend who has been to alot of burrito bars rates this very highly as do I.

Firstly, let me state that I love this place and would visit approx. 2-3 times a month. It's a convenient stop on my way to or from Heuston This is largely due to the fact that you are fed and watered quickly and for a very reasonable price. The Mexican food is the best of all the taco joints in Dublin in my humble opinion. The shredded pork is sublime and the shredded beef is a close second. My preference is to have the three corn tacos and put different meats in each. I also get a different salsa for each (they vary in degrees of hotness). The staff are also quite friendly and organised for a busy little eatery. So, why have I given it 3 stars for both atmosphere and service? It's simple. The atmosphere is not going to get a high mark because its essentially a high quality fast food establishment and people just come to have their fill and rarely linger over their meal. It's just not that kind of place. No big deal there. The service downgrading is more serious and comes from something that can be avoided. It is also the reason I won't be eating here for some time. It is a pet hate of mine to see establishments close 10-15 mins earlier than their advertised time. Boojum close supposedly at 9 o'clock. So it really got under my skin when, arriving in shortly after 8.45 and I'm 100% certain of the time I was told they were closed. All the food was still out. None of the trays had been returned to the kitchen. Staff were still behind the counter and there were at least 8-10 customers eating. When you consider the food is eaten in roughly 10 minutes it annoyed me greatly. They could have at least offered take away which they provide. I hope they are not taking the attitude that because they are successful they can ease off and turn away regular customers at such a ridiculously early time. Bottom line: good food but need to appreciate their customers more. Their money can be spent elsewhere as was the case with me. Won't return as a point of principle for quite a while I'm afraid.
Response:
Hi Shane, My name is John, one of the owners of boojum. I emailed you a reply regarding this incident but I thought I wold reply here as well in case you didn't receive the email. Let me first begin by apologising for you being turned away before our scheduled closing time. This is not standard practice for boojum and I am looking into why this happened on the particular evening. Barring equipment failure, we should never be closing our business early or turning customers away. We are certainly not taking the attitude that we can open and close at will or letting up on our customer service. My wife and I started boojum with the idea of offering good value, home cooked Mexican food with exceptional customer service and this is not something we'll ever compromise on. The employee(s) that turned you away that evening will be retrained and coached by me personally on the company's approach to opening & closing times. I can only apologise again and hope that you realise this was a bad decision made by the employees that night and not a company stance. I will do all in my power to ensure it never happens again. Naturally I am saddened to hear you'll not be returning to boojum for sometime but I can certainly respect your decision. Thanks for your honest opinion and feedback. At boojum we are always striving to be better and it all starts with knowing where we've gone wrong. Thanks, John & Karen

I stayed in an apartment for a weeks holiday which overlooked Boojum, we couldnt get over how busy this little place was there was constantly a queue in the doorway and we couldnt wait to try it. We weren't dissapointed the food is great and so filling for the price, the reasonably priced mexican beers go down great with the food. we planned to go back the next day for lunch but found it was closed for a xmas staff party. Every time we looked out our window that day we saw people reading the sign on the door, its obviously a very popular spot. worth waiting for a seat as there is a very cool vibe in there. cant wait for the next burrito.

Great little find. I love burritos and this is one of the best in the city. Tasty food at a reasonable price and quick service. Staff are nice and friendly too. My only complaint is that it is too close to my house thereby upping my burrito consumption! Also, it now opens on a Sunday. Awesome!

Tasty tasty tasty. They are good vale at 6.50 a meal aswell. always busy at lunchtime the past few weeks. I asked the manager what happened as I thought I was the only one who found the place in the first few weeks they opened. But seems they had their staff flyer drop outside Trinity, then the crowds hit :)

Great atmosphere and sounds. The staff are so friendly, and patient while you choose your fillings. The food is incredibly tasty. Visited several times now and I have to recommend the tacos with the smokey chicken - divine. Plus you can alternate the fillings and try the equally good pork and chili. The burrito bowl is packed with flavour too - no ingredient overpowers the other. It has a fast turnover of diners - vital for the small seating space. It is not the place to lounge and chat after your meal! But if you want fast, tasty, filling grub - with a cold beer - Boojum is your place.

This place is really popular and we hit it at just the right time as 5 minutes later the queue was out the door which shows their popularity! I had the vegetarian fajita and my friend had chickn burrito. We both also sampled a blue moon beer. Great range of beers and food made fresh to order. Great for a relaxed bite in town if you dont want something too formal

If you are looking for something quick, tasty, casual with a beer on the side then this place is perfect. Came here before heading to the cinema and would much prefer it than some of the other restaurants in the area. Food was so, so tasty. Staff friendly. Not your standard restaurant. Queue to order your food, have them make it in front of you and have it just the way you like and grab a abeer and sit down. Highly recommend for something casual.

Fantastic, the best burrito in the city centre by miles. The staff are lovely and there's a great atmosphere in the place. I would eat here every single day if I could. The green sauce is to die for.

Best Mexican I've had in Dublin. Lovely friendly staff, nice no frills setup with a good atmosphere. The food is great witha nice array of choices and customisation. Good selection of well priced bottled beer. A place where you can get beer and spicy food is very welcome in my book.

Three of us dined in Boojum today and all of us really enjoyed us. Two had fajitas tortilla and one the hard taco's and a nacho's to share. All were extremely fresh and tasty. Really filling too. Next time I'll ask for tortilla without the rice. The staff were really friendly and efficient. Even though the queue was going out the door the staff never made you feel rushed when ordering. Very competively priced beer too which is always an added bonus.

I love mexican food and was not disappointed. I had the nachos with chili and had to get help to finish it. My hubbie got the soft tacos with beef...delish. The nachos are homemade and all stay crispy right to the sloppy end. Love their spicy sauce as it really is spicy. Looking forward to returning soon. Highly recommend this place

I eat here quite frequently. Most recentlly I visited post Electirc Picnic to make myself feel better and it worked. The staff are always friendly and welcoming! And the food is great! I love their salsa verde and I usually go for the shredded beef with black beans in a burrito! I also usually forgo the rice as I find it to much! It's good value for money too! I can't recommend this place enough.

I adore Mexican food so when I heard about this place I was over the moon. The selection for your burrito is awesome, it's cheap and it's very tasty. The staff are also amongst the friendliest that I have ever come across in any establishment in the city. The shredded beef burrito is to die for and all the extras that you can put on it really make this place stand out from the crowd. However, any time I've tried the other meats they've been very tough but I have to admit that it was late any time I've gone there. Also, as someone else said here, they can be supremely messy. Take LOTS of napkins! Otherwise, this place is fantastic and totally worth dropping into. It's one of my fave places for a quick bite in the centre of town.

Very hard to fault this place. Food is excellent. Service is excellent. Price is excellent. Selection is excellent. If I had to find a flaw it would be that some burritos are terribly messy, unlike other mexican places I have been to about toen.

Is in the top two burritos joints in town. The staff are bubbly and interested in telling about their food. It's quick and cheerful - not a sit down affair but great for meeting a friend in. Prices are fine and a bit better with a student discount. The food itself is delicious especially the sauces that go with the meats.

Best Burritos in town. They use shredded beef instead of mince and his makes all the difference to me. Friendly efficient staff. Beware of the long lines at lunchtime though.

I've eaten here a few times and most recently this week. The service is fast and non-personal and although there is a good selection of food and drink available, it isn't my favourite burrito restaurant in town. Nice seating area and plenty of room outside the lunchtime rush though. Nice to sit outside in the summer.

I've eaten here several times, and never been disappointed. (My new favorite is the carnitas burrito) Friendly staff, good, fast meal, cold beers available. Newspaper friendly when they aren't packed, and family friendly too. What else could you ask of a casual, quick restaurant?

For cheap, cheerful and tasty burritos I think Boojum is the place to go. Have been going here on a weekly basis for the last 2 months. Definitely great value for mexican burritos/fajitas/tacos and bottles of cerveza. I always enjoy the chicken burrito with salsa verde and guacamole. Boojum is perfect for grabbing a quick and cheap bite in town.

I have been here many times since it has opened, amazing food! The girls behind the counter are so nice and the offer of a burrito and a corona for under 10euro is excellent value. My only negative is that the place is too small, not really a negative though!

What a delightful little place this is! Emphasis on 'little' - it is rather cluttered and attempts to get seats at lunchtime rush hour won't always be successful. However, it is worth the attempt. At the counter display is a large array of different beans, salads, fillings - which the nice smiley staff will talk the novice through. I settled on the black bean based vegetarian burrito as my favourite. The pinto bean version was just lovely too I should say. Medium spice level was just right, with optional hot sauce on the tables for that extra kick if needed. Of my three visits there, I ran into one issue only with the food: the guacamole must have been freshly out of the fridge when they put it in my burrito as it was a bit too cold in contrast with the hot beans. The burrito was nevertheless delicious and eaten with gusto! And for a mere €5 for a huge and very filling meal: that has got to be one of the best value meals in town. Keep up the good work, Boojum!

Boojum must be the best value in town. It's a small place with big heart, nice staff and a very friendly atmosphere. You could tell that a lot of the clientelle were regulars. The menu is simple. Choose a food type (Burrito, Taco ...etc.). Choose your filling (Chicken, Beef ...etc.). Lastly add your sauces and other condiments. Generous sizes and all made up in front of you. We had the Burritos. We added 1 bottle of beer each, and the whole dining experience for two was a mere €14. The shared tables are not to everyones liking, but once you know what to expect, it works fine!

High end of average; the value is pretty good (€5 for a burrito and €3.50 for lunch portion of chilli). Nothing terribly exciting, flavour-wise, but chilli hit is about right. Staff a little hit-and-miss in the friendliness stakes. Good place for lunch and handy location.

Delicious & tasty burritos, fajitas and tacos. The salad bowls are great for those looking for a healthier option. All the food is made fresh in the restaurant and your order is assembled in front of you. You choose your filling, toppings and how spicy you want to go with a choice of four salsas. The staff are friendly and efficient . The shared tables might not to be to everyone's taste, but it's the prefect place to grab a quick bite to eat before the cinema or a show. Portions are generous - I challenge you to finish the burrito!

This place is amazing! I passed it for several months without going in until a friend gave me a voucher. To say blown away is an understatement! I went back 4 more times in the next week! My favourite is the Shredded beef burrito, with black beans, rice, green salsa, cheese, and sour cream. It fills me up all day long! I have recommended it to other friends and everyone who goes loves it! The price is super cheap and the staff are fantastic. only complaint is that i wish they had soft drinks in the 7€ lunch offer. I'm not a big fan of bottled water!

I've eaten at Boojum a couple of times now and each time the food is great. The menu offers a wide choice of Mexican classics - I always go for the chicken burrito. The food is prepared in front of you, which is always great to see. Only slight downside, the seating area is a little small so it can get crowded at peak times but it's still worth waiting for a table.

Boojum does wonderful burritos, I have eaten here three times now and can have no complaints plus they have the advantage over some of the other burrito bars in that they can serve alcohol. The flavours are always very fresh and clean, they are packed with ingredients and definately satisy the burrito craving, are they the best burrito in Dublin? they're certainly in the running.

Decided to give this spot a go as I had heard good reviews, tried the shredded beef fajita burrito- was lovely, my friend had the chicken 1 and both thought they were lovely (the girls serving were very helpful and assisted some tourists who were not very sure on the process of ordering these burritos, also helped me and my friend as we were slightly unsure ourselves) the corona at €2.95 is a bargain, will defo be back :)

This place is a must. I've eaten here with everyone from my collage friends to my grandparents. The food is amazing and if possible the staff are better. I recommend the shredded beef with pinto beans and salsa roja (careful hot) but seriously it's all good. In the mood for a beer grab a Negra Modelo with some lime (Yum), If not have a Margarita or a soft drink. This place is the definition of service with a smile.

It was my first time here for lunch today, burrito and water for €7, €6 for students, bargain. The burritos are massive and they taste really good. I had the chicken burrito with rice, peppers, cheese, sour cream, guacamole - delish. For a lunch venue, it's perfect. Beers there for €2.95, dirt cheap!

Great value!Do a student special for 6 euro (bottle of water and any fajita/burrito) which is brilliant. Had the Shredded beef fajita which is delicious. They also sell beer and margaritas which are really tasty. There's space inside and out to sit and eat, will definitely be returning soon!

Really good food and nice atmosphere. Great little spot for a bite to eat. Had the shredded beef burrito, excellent! Will definitely be back here, unbelievable value, two burritos, side of nachos with guacamole and two drinks for less than €20.

Love this place, the food is great value and really tasty and filling. The beer is cheap and the staff are friendly. Going to this place after work for some food and a drink before heading home is the best cure for a bad day. Will definately go again.

I love mexican food so was delighted to find this restuarant. Gorgeous fresh food, very quick service. Great value, a massive burrito and drink for under €8. I wouldnt go for a full dinner but its perfect to grab a bite with friends. I got the vegetarian burrito, it was very filling. The tomato salsa is amazing. Very tasty, quick and great value. Definitely reccommend.

This place reminds me a lot of a chain in The States that I absolutely adore, so no surprises that I love this place. Echoing past reviews, the staff are great and the food is excellent. Not what I would think of as a true burrito, since it just feels so clean and perhaps even healthy. I have yet to try anything other than a shredded beef burrito, but this is only due to the fact that it is just so damn tasty. Add to this that fact that you can have a burrito and a beer (dos equis ain't all that bad) for under €10, and I love this place.

I went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and will be returning soon! The food was simple but tasty and the staff were really friendly. It's nice to be able to have affordable Mexican food in Dublin that doesn't rely on lots of cheese for flavour. The frozen margaritas are beautiful, especially in the hot weather we're having lately.

I have now been a number of times and it has rapidly become my favourite dinner when I am around town. Staff are great, food is excellent - the addition of beer was most welcome. I have only one quibble and it’s not a big one. When in California, the Burrito ladies seem to massage the Burrito when they roll it. Thereby ensuring that with each bite you get a morsel of each ingredient. This would be my one and only suggestion for improvement.

Boojum is a gem of a place- delicious food, fast and cheap! The menu is small, but it does what it does excellently. It does the nicest guacamole I've tasted in Ireland, and a cold Corona makes the lovely Mexican grub even lovelier. Well worth a visit for a quick bit at lunch or after work!

Simply amazing! Probably the best burritos I've had this side of the Atlantic! The key is to order your burrito without rice. They're not only delicious, but huge, and an absolute steal when you consider that there are Mexican restaurants in Dublin who charge €18 for a burrito! Service is efficient, and while the place lacks atmosphere, the smiles on the diner's faces more than makes up for that! You'll be smiling too!

For value for money and quick tasty food, boojum is hard to beat. A massive burrito and a proper mexican beer (Dos Equis, though they have the ubiquitous Corona too) for less than a tenner is a stellar deal. The burrito itself was delicious though the rice was a little bland, and the beef and salsa fillings were tasty. A small quibble is that it seemed quite overstaffed and it was a little intimidating/surreal approaching 5 smiling and eager people to order. A friend went the following night and said the place was jammed so I guess they might be needed after all :)

The best burrito I have tried so far in Dublin and a good size portion. Well prepared slow cooked meat, nice fresh salsa and guacamole, tortilla chips appear freshly made . The place appears well organised and ingredients are good quality. Nice modern restaurant decor and efficient staff

Thursday evening, quick bite after a look around the shops. This is exactly what Dublin needed, a reasonable Mexican grill. Menu is very simple but food is excellent, staff are super firendly. Not a full service restaurant but a place for casual dining. Excellent price/quality relationship. Will def be back.

Visited on only their 2nd day of business but was very pleased. Staff were exceptionally friendly and the food was tasty and quick. Portions massive, I'd a veggie burrito which I struggled to finish. Will probably be a regular visitor as work nearby!

I am delighted to have found this new restaurant in Dublin. A few years ago while staying in California I had a burrito from a mexican restaurant, so authentic the staff barely spoke more Spanish than English. Not since then have I had a burrito that was so delicious! The menu is small but anyone looking for some tasty burritos should not be disappointed. The food is fresh and the burrito is made right in front of you where you can select exactly what you want in it. Its an informal place where the staff are friendly and helpful. I have visited twice so far and each time its been fairly quiet but that is probably because its not well known as yet. I really hope their business picks up as I dont want them leaving any time soon!
