Dakota, City Centre South

The Dakota Bar opened in June 2000 on Dublin's South William Street. For decades, South William Street was the centre of the Rag Trade in Dublin - Dakota used to house the fabric warehouse for nearby Grafton Street's Switzer's Department Store. Switzers is now long gone and has been replaced by uber fancy department store, Brown Thomas. Over the past decade South William Street has flourished as a destination with plenty of hip eateries and bars opening, along with some of the bigger Hair and Beauty Saloons in the city. It is from this local crowd that Dakota draws in the masses. There are many facets to Dakota - during the day it serves fine freshly made food and offers an oasis of calm in the centre of the city. At night - it's a popular destination for drinks and rendevouses. And at the weekend it a great place to party 'til late with some damn fine music playing also. The main principles behind Dakota are offering the public the best in quality food and drinks and service in a modern and chic interior. We celebrate 10 years in 2010 and we'll be having lots of events to mark the occasion! We look forward to welcoming you.

We brought the kids and their friends here for dinner, and it's a nice child-friendly place to get decent pub food. The childrens meals are good value, although I think they should also do a kids drink and dessert option, as €3 for a mineral and €5 for an ice-cream does bump up the price somewhat. I think we ALL went for the fish and chips, which was lovely, especially the chips which are good and chunky and come in cute metal buckets!

Had been to Dakota before for drinks and loved the atmosphere. Went for meal on a busy Saturday night.Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Had the fishcakes for starters and 2 of us had the chicken for main course. The basil mash was amazing. Dessert was in the menupages deal but there was no problem changing my dessert for a side salad to accompany the main. The house white Pinot Grigio rounded it all off nicely. We were under no pressure and stayed there till late. Thank you menu pages, we will be back.
