Farm Restaurant, City Centre South

The Farm restaurant is located in the centre of Dublin adjacent to Trinity College in 3 Dawson Street, which runs parallel with Grafton Street. The Farm is owned and operated by an Irish family who have been involved in the hospitality industry in Dublin for 40 years, together with their General Manager Marina Sarosi. And head chef Sean Hunter. The decision to open the Farm in 2007 was 3 years in the making and came about by the obvious requirement by the public for better, healthier, and traceable fresh ,healthy and Organic food. Having thought about this and discussed it at length for what seemed like an eternity it was decided that the Farm concept would become a reality, with our mission statement as “Affordable, tasty, homemade and locally sourced. As much organic and or free range as we can, healthy vegetables and fresh herbs”. This mission statement has served us well and the Farm has been warmly embraced by locals and visitors alike. We have an extensive lunch and dinner menu, daily specials and an Early Bird menu Sunday—Friday each week. Much of our produce comes from organically certified Irish producers, whose certification hangs on the wall of the Farm. We spend much time developing our menus changing them frequently to ensure that we always have a nice or different dish to offer our many regular customers. The Farm also has a children’s menu, developed using the opinions of “consultant” children of friends and family to ensure that we got it right. The result being that we serve Organic chicken nuggets, organic pasta and even an organic 5oz Sirloin steak to our quite discerning young ladies and gentlemen when they visit. Here at the Farm we serve a range of organic wines, beer, organic soft drinks, organic tea and organic fair trade coffee. Even our milk is organic!,fully licenced to sell wine, beer and spirits, coctails also available The Farm is OPEN seven days a week serving a full menu throughout the day from 12 noon to 11pm. I got a great deal here recently on a four course meal. The food was excellent, especially the orange and dark chocolate mousse which I had for dessert. I also really liked that a lot of the ingredients were specified as local produce which is always nice to see on a menu. The only slight flaw I found with the place was that as we were seated down the stairs by the door, the service was a little slow. The waiters and waitresses seemed to concentrate more on the upstairs section. Great overall and I would highly recommend everyone to give it a try.

Had a lovely meal over the bank holiday in Farm Restaurant. We had the four course dinner which was excellent. I cannot resist chicken wings when I see them on a menu and they didn't disappoint, garnished to perfection, my other half had the goat's cheese starter which was also gorgeous. I had the burger for main and the other side of the table had the steak, both cooked to perfection and accompanied well with sides. Rounded off with the chefs desert and a cappuccino this was a most pleasant experience. Cosy and friendly we will most definitely be returning in the future!!

OK so firstly I should mention the visit prior to this one where I ordered the mushroom risotto and it was undercooked. I wasn't sure at first until I asked my lunch companion to taste it and she assured me it should not be al dente! When I mentioned it to the waiter as he was clearing the dishes away he simply said ok sorry about that. A complimentary drink/coffee would have been a better way to handle it. This didn't put me off revisiting and most recently I had lunch selecting the chicks on the run and my guest had the organic steak sandwich followed by the apple pie and the chocolate orange mousse. Food was excellent although I found the mousse too sweet for my liking and more chocolate than orange. The food was slow in coming but it was worth the wait. I like the vibe in the restaurant and that all the food is organic a lot of people I've mentioned it to think its a vegetarian place but no there's lots of great meat dishes on the menu. Worth a visit.
