I felt this restaurant was not value for money. They have a Sunday lunch special menu of 25 euro for 3 courses with tea or coffee. 2 of my party only had 2 courses with tea, but on presenting the bill we were informed we where to pay the full 25 euro for each of these 2 course plus tea meals. The reason we were given was that individually priced the dishes would come to over 25 euro so the implication was they were doing us a favour by charging 25 euro per head. Now in anyones book that cant be right. If a special menu is run and the food ordered was off this menu, then if you drop a course - you should be charged slightly less than if you had all courses. I was very disappointed at this and felt it was quite mean to price things that way. If you have a 2 course meal you should pay for 2 courses, not 3!!! overall the food was okay. No choice of potato was offered, we were informed garlic potatoes were being served with the mains, which all had quite rich stuffings on them, and that resulted in very overpowering flavours all competing. All a bit much. It would have been nice to have had a choice of just plain potato. I wouldnt go back to this restaurant, entirely due to the way I was billed for courses I didnt have. That fact alone quite ruined the meal for me. I would not recommend the restaurant to anyone, as I would not like them to encounter the same billing structure. Very disappointed.

Party of seven dined here meal was tasty and choice of wine was good. Service was respectable. Starters were varied and well pesented. Mains in particular fish dishes excellent, steaks a little dissappointing. Desserts were excellent. as for value for money it was good. Have dined here before and felt the standard had dropped just a little but still worth a visit.

I had dined here many years ago and wasn’t sure if it would live up to my memories At the entrance there are so many award plaques going back 10+ years, I reckoned we were in for a seafood treat. We opted for the early bird at EUR25 pp – starters of mussels and pate were good, hake main course was so tasty served with lots of fresh cooked vegetables and 2 kinds of potatoes. Homemade ice cream and meringue desserts served delicious. Portion sizes were generous and staff were friendly and attentive, taking time to chat briefly as they served. Great value early bird, will definitely visit again when next in Kinsale.

This was our first visit to Man Friday restaurant and it certainly didn't disappoint. What a gem of a restaurant! We opted for the Early bird menu and at only €25 for three courses it was good value. The food was delicious and I couldn't fault anything! There was a great atmoshphere even for a Monday. Will be retuning again.

I went here with my girlfirend once. Best steak I have ever had in Ireland. It was tender and cooked perfectly. They bring you out a selection of Veg. The pureed carrots were unreal as were the Garlic potatoes. The waitress we had was so pleasant. Everything made for a perfect night. Be warned, you leave this place exceptionally full!!!

Went here a couple of weeks ago with 5 of my girlfriends. We opted for the 'early bird' menu which is available all day on a Sunday. It was €25 per head which was excellent value for the meal we were presented with. The restaurant was full and the atmosphere was great. The service could not be faulted and the food was top notch! Would definitely recommend the early bird at the 'Man Friday'.

Best early bird menu ever!! First class food and service. We arrived early without a reservation- no problem.... I would however book in future as it filled up quickly and I would hate to be turned away from this wonderful place. We had deep fried brie cheese, followed by fish pie (best ever) and steak washed down with lovely house wine and ice cream that was to die for. Early bird for twenty five euro per head. First class +++++++++ PS the brown bread is WOW!

Myself and my wife came here for our 5th wedding anniversary. It was my first time eating in the restaurant. The whole experience was wonderful. We both went for the €37.50 dinner menu. They were a very good choice on the menu. The food was gorgeous especially starters and main course. I had the rack of lamb while my wife had the steak. Both were cooked to perfection. It really was a lovely occasion. The service was very good and I like the layout and decor of the restaurant. The restaurant was extremely busy which I always think is a good sign. Saying that the service did not suffer as result.

This restaurant never fails to deliver. The food as always was fantastic and the service was excellent. Still a bit pricey considering the economic climate (starter salad €10) but food is always top class. Keep up the good work!

Came here for my boyfriends birthday & had a lovely meal as usual. The only thing was we were waiting an hour for our food only to discover our order never got to the kitchen. This is the first time we have had any hicup here so will be back again. If you are waiting too long, speak up just in case your order has got lost!!

We both had the early bird menu at 25 euro a head. The menu was varied- even though I don't eat red meat I had plenty to choose from. All 3 courses were excellent(a rarity) and the service friendly and efficient. We both left satisfied if a bit full! Will be back.

Four of us booked for 6:45 so we could have the early menu if we wanted. Only one of us did. Restaurant already had a nice buzz about it. I had cold Oysters to start they were fresh and zinged of the sea. Hot oysters well also well received as was the pate. For mains two of us has sirloin which were excellent, one had the duck which we confirmed was done the traditional Man Friday way and was delicious, the chicken from the early bird was very good also. We had two bottles from the reasonably priced house wine list(€20 and €22). We shared the desert from the early bird. Total was just short of €200, an excellent meal and excellent service.

Ate here on Friday night with the other half. Service was really really friendly and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, although I think some parts are cosier than others. We were in the conservatory part and while it was nice, I would have preferred to be down the other end. No sign of recession here, it was very busy, which bearing in mind it's pricey enough, says something. I have the brie followed by fillet steak. Both were gorgeous and I just loved the garlic cheese potatoes. The other half had a goats cheese salad which he said was delicious, followed by lamb and then sticky toffee pudding for desert. We both had coffee and a liquer and the bill came to 150 euro inclusive of tip. Had a really nice evening.

i tend to eat out a lot and tend to try as many places as i can but after eating here i would happily never eat anywhere else again. what a senic view and a lovely restaurant. the entrance is so unique and the staff greet every customer like theyre regular favourites.the food was out of this world. i had brie for starter and tend to be very fussy about how its cooked. it was divine. duck for main course and it was beautiful. im not a big fish eater but the rest of my party went for fish dishes and my mouth was watering looking at them. I would highly recommend this place and look forward to my next trip to kinsale. excellent value too

Thursday nite and this restaurant was full.......and we soon found out why. The waiting staff were older than normal but added to the atmosphere with their personality. First class food from another 5 star Kinsale restaurant. We all loved and really enjoyed the banter with the staff. Don't leave without trying the seafood platter.

I was working in Kinsale a few weeks ago and myself and the girls wanted to go somewhere nice to wind down after possibly the most stressful day of work ever. One of the girls had been here before, said it was amazing but on the pricey side so we decided that since we had all worked so hard, we deserved to treat ourselves, but found we could get 3 courses for €25. so much for breaking the bank!! The selection was good and I had the best salmon of my life! The portions were big, the food was delish, and our waitress was so nice. Amazing views over Kinsale added to make the perfect setting. We had 2 lovely bottles of red wine to go with the meal which were also really well priced.

Remains one of my favourite restaurants, love the atmosphere because it is always full. One piece of advice, get a seat in the conservatory overlooking Kinsale, really nice. I had the seafood platter which was delicious and my girlfriend got the steal. Wine was fantastic too, lots of choice so a lot to keep everyone happy. Very biased about this place but I think it is really special, not cheap but great for a nice night out.

This is an overpriced restaurant and one underheated in cold weather. The food is competent but lacks flair, imagination and individuality.Whilst the menu promises much it fails to deliver and at the prices charged one expects more. For example the fish chowder contains just the one type of bland white fish. The vegetables accompanying the main courses whilst substantial comprised bowls of French fries, mashed potato, pureed carrot and mange tout. All pretty predictable and unexciting. With the coffee machine not fully working and cappuccinos off,the espresso served was not only not an espresso but plain black coffee of the weakest repellent type-the sort I'd hoped we in Ireland had seen the last of many years ago. Service is impersonal and does nothing to induce you to give the place a second chance. It's 'play safe' food with the chef going through the motions and lacking any creativity.Shame.

Went here with my boyfriend, the atmosphere was fantastic - a guy proposed to his girlfriend at the table next to us which added to the already jubliant mood in the restaurant. Had scallops for starter and steak for mains - steak was cooked to perfection. All in all, a super night out.

We have been to Man Friday over the years and again it did not disappoint. The place was packed and we had to wait for 15-20 mins for our table. Also when we finally ordered I was left waiting for my starter 10 minutes after the rest of the table (table of 6) had been served. That said we were all happy with usual high standard of food served. The Fillet Steak is a must, very generous portions with all courses and as always well worth a visit when in Kinsale.

Lovely food, and plenty of it. Mixed seafood platter quite expensive but tasty. Staff and service great. BUT the toilets could badly do with a good cleaning and freshening up, makes me wonder what the kitchen is like. Wont be becoming a regular!

Good place for expense account showing off, very old fashioned approach and menu. Good wine list. It's where you would bring your 6th class teacher to show how well you turned out. Steak with Bearnaise, turbot on the bone filleted at the table, the kind of thing you don't really expect to see anymore. You keep looking over your shoulder for Robert Carrier.

Situated in the Scilly district a few minutes walk from town, this is one of the few places that can make a “gourmet” claim, even if some of its dishes are in a 1980s timewarp. We went on a Friday having made the essential reservation and had a table overlooking the harbour. We didn’t order starters but, as everywhere, good brown bread was brought. This one had been made with treacle giving it an unaccustomed sweetness. Sirloin steak in pepper sauce is an 80s classic and they have probably been cooking this excellent piece of meat in the exactly the same way since then. It was really spot on. Tasty tender beef, perfectly cooked to medium – the sauce not overpowering in its pepperiness as often can happen. An excellent, if expensive, hot seafood platter brought fillets of turbot and salmon, chunks of monkfish together with crab claws, prawns and mussels. Dressed with a superb fishy, creamy sauce, this was a feast. Side dishes came of chips, garlic dauphinoise potato, mashed carrot & swede and a bowl of mixed veg (mangetout, green beans and cabbage). We both had strawberry shortcake as dessert. Three layers of thin crisp shortbread, with vanilla cream and strawberries. This worked! There were no wines by the glass or half bottles so my partner ordered a full bottle for herself which represented €25 of the total €98 bill. Good meal. We enjoyed ourselves.

Food is quite good but is outrageously overpriced. Good sized portions meant at least I left satisfied but not overly impressed. Unfortunately, the quality doesn't justify paying such high prices so I can't imagine I'd become a regular.

Ordinary food at extraordinary prices. Poor value. I just got the main course which was sole - €32. I know sole is expensive but from recollection the cheapest main course is €25. I wouldn't mind if the food was amazing but it wasn't. Dessert was sloppy also. I asked for a glass of dessert wine and they don't serve by the glass!! Are they in business at all?

I ate with my family in Man Friday to celebrate a birthday as it came highly recommended, however from our first impressions we were disappointed on every level. It started with the poor greeting from a harassed looking waitress at the bar. We were then led to a table that was meant to be for 4 people but was right next to a workstation that the waitresses were using and they continued throughout our meal to infringe on us. The starter of scampi was like something you would get in the local Chinese takeaway and one of the party ordered the main of monk fish and the majority of it was completely raw! A trip to the toilets and there was a handwritten sign sellotaped to the door of the men's toilet and wallpaper peeling off the wall of the ladies! The restaurant is dark and dull and had closed blinds covering its best asset the view of the harbour! I shall certainly not be visiting this overpriced restaurant again!

I have frequented this restaurant over the past 15 years and the menu hasn't really changed during that time. Whilst the food is of good standard I am always very disappointed that frozen chips are served. Considering the price of the food on the menu and the standard it excels to achieve, I thought this was a let down. The wine list is excellent and there is defintely a wine for every taste. The staff were very courteous. The conservatory is nice and roomy but the rest of the restaurant is dark and dismal and tables too close together.
