We were recommended by family to visit and were delighted to find some of the best fish we've ever had. I started with pan seared tuna which was remarkable, truly mouth watering, my husband had the chili seafood medley salad, there was plenty of variety and the portions were very generous. For mains he had the monkfish which although he enjoyed, and I admit was pleasant..... paled in comparison the the John Dory. Absolutely extraordinary flavour on almond and tarragon sauce. The only murmurs would be that the vegetables were a bit 'samie' for both courses, and you'd want to LOVE your broccoli as thats all that came with my John Dory - although it was the greenest and most fresh I've had in a long time. The bread basket was surprisingly small and basic, although there was an accompanying hummus and it was replenished. The service was good except when it came to bill time and we were forgotten about. It is definitely an 'occasional' visit and worth it for the tremendous fruits of the sea experience!

Visited this well known restaurant with a group of four on a busy saturday evening in Kinsale. We all had Main courses and desserts, great choice of Seafood dishes available throughout. This is a very popular restaurant so booking for dinner is advisable especially during the summer months. For mains we had between us the legendry fish pie which was delicious, a Fish and Chips, a Vegetarian and haddock on a bed of root vegetable puree. For dessert they stock the amazing swiss Movenpick ice cream which is delicious. Fishy fishy is not cheap but the food is delicious. Only gripe was it came too quick, we had barley finished our bread and they were delivering the main course.

I visited Fishy Fishy for Sunday lunch with my boyfriend. We have visited here several times previously and have had fantastic food and service every time. I had their sweet chilli seafood salad, which was a very genrous size with lots of seafood, and my boyfriend the crab claws which were just as delicious.Their house wine is also great and very reasonably priced.

A friend and I dined at this restaurant on a Saturday evening, arriving at around 7:30 to a buzzy atmosphere. We were made to feel really welcome from the moment we walked in and the service was great throughout - really pleasant and constantly available without being intrusive. Crab salad starters were great and my bass main course was cooked to perfection. My friend was equally impressed and suitably pleased with herself for having recommending this place to me. I often find that I am too full for dessert but was determined to fit it in here and how happy I was that I did. The pannacotta was excellent. Whenever I visit Cork, I will undoubtedly go out of my way to visit this place - it's worth it. If I was being uber-critical, I would like to rid the restaurant of the cook books etc for sale but other than that I honestly couldn't have been happier.

I had a meal here with a big group of friends on Friday night. It lived up to its expectation and we really enjoyed ourselves. I had a taste of scampi to start and it was just prefect. I then had steak which was cooked correctly and tasted lovely. I know an odd choice for a fish restaurant but worth it. The staff were very efficient, friendly and also very discreet which was good. Two downsides - our large table was split which was ok but it would have been nice to know that when we booked. Also the choice of red wine was poor, I know it is a fish restaurant but it could do with a review. Finally I will definitely visit again, I would ask for an upstairs booking as the entrance and bar / waiting area is lovely but downstairs dining was very hot.

My wife and I dined at Fishy Fishy last week during our week long holiday in Kinsale. We had heard so much about it, through word of mouth, they must have a great PR Manager! Anyway we weren't disappointed. I had the smoked salmon for starters along with deep fried haddock for mains. My wife had fish cakes and Trout for mains. Food was fresh, very nicely done and presented well. Overall very good choice with atmosphere nice outside. The downside was the quality of the service. The waiting staff lack a bit of finesse with regards service. Don't get me wrong they were probably rushed off their feet and I wasn't expecting silver service but their attention to service didn't really match the restaurants quality. Also the wine was already opened before it was brought to the table - a pet hate of mine! Having said that I would recommend Fishy Fishy and I will return! PS. watch out for the cats!

Just have to eat at Fishy Fishy when you are in Kinsale, whether what the fuss about. So walked in for lunch bank holiday Monday. Unusual quiet initially, seated quickly, no reservation needed. Order a seafood chowder as entree, main was a mixed seafood salad. A little bit apprehensive going for seafood on Monday, and traditionally not the best day in the week for seafood. Not bad, so this is the positive fuss about the restaurant, though my seafood chowder was bit salty, thus the above argument. Seafood salad was superb. The final damage was just 25e with a glass of white wine. Worth the visit, folks

consistently superb restaurant. 4 of us ate, went a bit mad (main course mussels, main course chilli seafood and chowder for starters, then scallops, turbot and two haddock for mains, then 2 desserts). Food all terrific, the turbot with a creamy fennel and deep fried capers was fantastic, the scallops were the best I have tasted, and the battered haddock was very clever (very light batter made with mineral water). Staff are welcoming and friendly, but professional as well, the room is gorgeous, and at about 8 for starters and 25 for mains the prices are good, given the quality. I rate this as one of the best restaurants in Ireland, not too cheffy, but a guaranteed smile on my face every time. Love it.

I knew we would have a wait as it was Easter Sunday. I wish I'd chosen one of the many other Restaurants in Kinsale as there is so many to choose from.I'm sure their food would have been just as nice with just as efficient group of staff at a fraction of the price. The food was good, the staff were very professional but the pricing is disappointing. The decor is very nice but not done by a professional (I hope) e.g wallpaper doesn't match up. I won't be going back. I felt Ripped off and that this Restaurant is living on it's TV Fame.

Dinner for two on a rainy Friday night was very enjoyable experience, it is now great that you can book a table here as previously you couldn't & you never could anticipate how long might have to wait or how busy it was. Very glad we went back. Barely in the door and the staff attended to us, sat us down, took our coats, handed us menus & outlined the specials so was very impressed. Was disappointed that there wasn't greater variety of starters available, compared to the main courses especially as most of the starters were just smaller portions of main courses available which restricted your choice. Having said that, the crab claws & the mussels were both fantastic to start, very simple but great flavour. We both ordered specials for the maincourse, both were very well seasoned & cooked perfectly. Both were served on a creamed mash & with green salads which were crisp & fresh but it may have been nice to offer steamed vegetables as an option. We followed with desert, a coffee and a liquer but unfortunately had to ask staff a number of times to bring this. All in all, the food was really great, I think the service could be more consistent if the same member served you for the evening and we felt price was ok, the specials both cost 23.95 and while tasting great, it is a bit pricey for what they were. We will consider going back.

Maybe I build these kinds of places up in my head too much but after my recent visit to Fishy Fishy I left feeling rather disappointed by the whole experience. We had a table booked for 7pm on a Tuesday evening and the place was jammed. We stood waiting to be seated for a couple of minutes while staff whizzed around us. Finally a waiter muttered that someone would be with us soon and eventually we got our table right beside the waiters station downstairs. The dining room up-stairs seems a bit less chaotic so if it's a romantic meal you're after then request it when you book. We were served some nice bread to nibble on while we perused our menus. It came with a lovely hummus and also butter that clearly hadn't seen a fridge anytime in the recent past. We were also served a jug of warm tap-water with no ice. Just little things but really you're paying enough to eat here so they shouldn't be overlooked. As we were on holiday for a week and eating out every night I can say that no other restaurant forgot to chill the butter or ice the water. We ordered the chilli seafood salad and scampi to start and the crab crumble and haddock tempura and chips for mains. My partner nipped to the toilet and just as he rejoined me our starters were placed on the table! My salad was delicious but my partner got 8 scampi for the grand price of €13.50. They were good but not that good. Mains again were out very quickly, too quickly! My haddock tempura was fine, as good as I've had it in Japanese restaurants and my partner was happy with his crumble. We finished eating exactly 40 minutes after we arrived and it had become clear to us that Fishy Fishy is an exercise in turning tables as fast as possible. We don't normally have dessert but to try to keep the night going we ordered tiramisu, sticky toffee pudding and a couple of coffees. Total bill including 2 drinks but not including service came to €99.50. Service was brisk but aloof and I can't say that I'd return.

This was my first visit to this restaurant and I was so taken with its delightful seafood that I went back for more. It had a reputation for being expensive but it isn't at all. I got their warm chilli mixed seafood salad and for €15.95 it was such a fine, substantial meal and included potato wedges. The taste and flavours were so mouth-watering and tangy. I also added a summer berry trifle and its home-made taste was so refreshing...and again not expensive at €5.95. It is a very, very busy place and expect a bit of a wait before securing a table. But rest assured you won't mind the length of the wait as the food you will be presented with is like no other - pure, fresh from the sea, Simply Delicious!

After deciding to visit Kinsale for the weekend a friend advised me to try this place and we were not disappointed. My partner and I both had the seafood chowder to start it was simply delicious. For main I had battered haddock and chips, the batter so was light, a classic dish done perfectly. My partner had the fish pie which was to die for. Great bottle of house Sauvignon as well. Would recommend to anyone - it was delightful.

The food in Fishy Fishy is amazing. I had a monkfish dish which I am still raving about nearly a month later!! I would definitely recommend this restaurant as somewhere to go as a treat but I find it too expensive to be a place I would visit regularly

One of the best seafood restaurants I know! We enjoyed a beautiful meal in a lovely atmosphere with excellent and efficient service. The restaurant was very busy as it was a bank holiday weekend, we did not have a booking but after a worthwhile wait of about 25mins we were assigned a table. The seafood chowder was delicious, served with lovely fresh bread. The fish pie was equally delicious, an excellent flavour of a variety of fresh fish. Considering the quality of the food I thought it was very good value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful, offering excellent service. This was my second visit. I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this fantastic seafood restaurant.

Went here for dinner - a party of four and had a great meal. The atmosphere at Fishy Fishy is very up-beat.. and not pretentious in any way. Lots of original artwork line the restaurant walls and we sat up stairs. For starters we shared breaded scampi, and a crab crumble. Both were very tasty. Mains consisted of trout, scallops, hake and monkfish... all were perfectly cooked and presented. Deserts were fab also.. don't miss the pavlova. A nice bottle of vino, a couple of coffees and a bill for four came to €177. Not bad for a great evening.

Went there on a Sunday. The place was busy with a nice atmosphere. I got the fish pie which was delicious, and my friends shared a plate of smoked salmon and oysters. They were very happy with it. Service was fab, they even told us that an other fishy fishy bistro style is 5 min from there. Can't wait to try this one...

Always wanted to go there after being constantly talked about among my friends. One day got an opportunity, & felt really worth it. Located opposite the Kinsale River, couldn't get a better view when you got a seating upstairs. Although my friends & I have to queue a bit to get seated (we did not make a reservation beforehand), but the wait is totally worth it. The staff are really friendly, & its hard to make a choice with all the tempting menus available. Finally, I settled down with seafood chowder & pasta. The food take a while to be served, but we didn't really mind cause we were enjoying the view. We were expecting a small portion seeing the restaurant is quite exclusive, but couldn't be more wrong when the food had arrived. The portion is enormous and very filling. We were full by the time main course is finished. The price is expensive, but I say its worth every cent. In conclusion, FIshy Fishy restaurant deserved every awards that they got. I will definitely go there again, wanting for more.

4 Friends went for a girly lunch today before the childrens Exams start and the stress levels go up. Fishy Fishy was the choice, I have eaten here before but wanted to sample it again as it has a Big reputation. We all had something different, John Dory, Scampi, Monkfish and Cod, all were lovely but firstly there was not a huge amount on plate other than Fish, secondly it is quite expensive. All were happy with their desserts and mine, Classic Creme Brulee was very very good. The day was a lovely sunny day and eating outside was great. It is only when I had left that I realised what it has going for it, an extensive Fish Menu. I nearly always choose Fish when eating out and this selection is a treat. Do I think it deserves the way people rave about it - no but for its selection alone I would visit from time to time.

Fishy Fishy is one of my favorite restaurants in Cork. I had an excellent meal there recently, I had the seafood chowder followed by the cod. Both were excellent. The staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful. Overall an excellent dining experience.

This was my first visit here and it turned out to be an excellent dining experience. The reception was welcoming and efficient; the atmosphere was very pleasant, the dining area being open and spacious, with decor that emphasises the "Fishy" nature of the establishment. The staff were attentive and very helpful. The menu offered a good choice of fish dishes, and the wine-list was first-rate. The food itself was superb; a delicious chowder, followed (for me) by Sea-Trout and (for my wife) warm chicken salad. Both were prepared to perfection, were served at the proper temperature, and the helpings were generous. The post-prandial tea was the best I've had in a restaurant for as long as I can remember. Definitely a place to return to!

We have visited Kinsale a number of times but this visit was only the second time we had eaten there. We are from the east of england but my husband is working in whitegate for six months and we like to eat out at lest once a week. We have worked and eatern all over the world and I can say that this restaurant was up there with many of the best. The crab claws are excellent. The decor is modern and the staff very friendly. We will definately be visiting Fishy Fishy on a regular basis.

As part of a group of about 8 we at dinner at Fishy fishy. The food was excellent. I had seafood chowder and crab claws. Both were very enjoyable, but the highlight of the evening seemed to be the crab crumble. The food, décor and service were all very impressive. It was good value too and is highly recommended.

We were in Kinsale for a few days in November and i had booked before we arrived. It was a Thursday night, not overly busy but the weather was torrential all day and we were stuck in our hotel room most of the day - so probably kept people away from the town that night. Anyway food was fab, service excellent and pretty good value for the high qualty food what we had. Would defo. go again next time in Kinsale.

Had heard so much about Fishy Fishy and have to say it was all true! fantastic restaurant, staff were very friendly and most attentive. The food was beautiful and portions were perfect sized. The only downside I found was that they aren't particularly baby friendly. Nice for a treat.

Had been wanting to visit Fishy Fishy for quite a long time so when I was invited to a wedding in Kinsale it was the perfect opportunity. I have to say it was fantastic. Luckily I had booked the table in advance as it was the gourmet festival weekend and really busy. Despite this the service was fantastic, the staff were lovely and the food was superb. There was a particularly difficult couple at a nearby table who asked the waitress the ingredients in almost everything on the menu and took forever to make up their minds but she was very pleasant and helpful throughout. The prices were pretty good and the wines were also well chosen and well priced. cant wait to return.

Heard so much about Fishy Fishy and never made the trip 'til last Monday. Believe me, everything you hear is true, this place is fantastic! What a devine lunch we had. I'd the monkfish served with a squash risotto on a lemon butter. So beautiful and light and the monkfish just melt in my mouth. Perfect portion too as the creamy risotto was filling. Washed this down with a lovely Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc reasonably priced at €5.75 a glass. Forced myself to have a dessert, was torn between the chocolate cookie or the tiramisu so my companion had the tiramisu for me, lovely and light, as a tiramisu should be, fantastic. The chocolate cookie was sinful!!!!! A rich moist cookie served on a bed of hot choclate sauce with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, this is what desserts should be like!!!!!!!! Well done Fishy Fishy, I will be back......

Yes, Yes, Yes: Great food for any seafood lover. There was 9 of us at the table and we all were delighted with what we ordered and the presentation and taste were first class. Kinsale is a long way from Dublin but I will be back to both Kinsale and Fishy Fishy and going for the Fishy fish pie.

YUMMY, YUMMY!!!!! Had a beautiful meal here last week. The most of the menu seems to be decided daily presumably depanding on whats fresh that day. My boyfriend had the fishy fishy pie and I had the crab claws both of which were delicious! Service was very relaxed probably not great if you're in a rush but suited us fine for a leisurely dinner. The restaurant was beautiful too and very comfortable. 2 starters, 2 mains, a dessert and a bottle of wine all for €82, Great food, great value!!!

this place is amazing, the food was so fantastic. We all had a large crab claws to share between 4 and our own dishes besides, I got the deep fried haddock and was totally blown away. First off, I have to say the crab claws were absolutely amazing. The haddock and skinny fries were delicious too. There was well enough food to go round too. I only had about 3 chips as I was trying to finish as much of the amazing fish as possible. I would definately reccommend this place to a friend. the only sour note was that due to the popularity it was hard to get attention when first arriving in, and not all of the waitresses are as nice as some others..just try to get the friendly ones beacuse they more than make up for the less friendly ones. Also note, they dont take bookings so arrive early.

Five of us came here for lunch last Monday. While the food is lovely on most occasions we have been, this time two of our party weren't that happy. The scampi main course was more coating than scampi, it was totally overpowered and just very heavy. The cod which came with brocolli and I'd say one potatoe quartered was extremely dry, no sauce worth mentioning. Overall, the service was excellent, very child friendly, the food good but overpriced for lunch.

Came here with 2 friends and decided to have the early bird menu.Food was good maybe alittle under seasoned and very small portions even for an early bird menu.I had mussels followed by turbot which was a extremly small portion. My firends both had chowder which was creamy and full of variety and both had fish pie which tasted rich but lacked seasoning.Staff were very attentive and friendly.Only thing niggling at me is that you can't make a booking so people waiting for a table are literally staring at you to finish up and leave!

I loved this restaurant, i dont say this lightly when i say it was the best food ive ate in cork in 3 years of living here! I had a taster portion of scampi followed by a braised yellow fin tuna steak, so simple and so delicious... desert was yum too but cant get over that tuna! I really liked that despite there being quite a well to do crowd the staff were not stuffy just very competent. It didnt matter that we waited 45 mins for a table etc.. really fab food, and yes it is a bit pricey but sometimes thats worth it.

Nice seafood restaurant in a country where decent seafood is impossible to find. Prices to match though but still affordable. Excellent service and a wonderful nautical atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit. Be prepared for a wait though because you can't book a table and it's very popular.

Was here Thursday, came away disappointed. Lovely restaurant, service wasn't bad. Food was very disappointing, under seasoned, overcooked (squid and lobster), bland, absolutely no flair in the presentation. With such a small menu and from what I could see a well equipped kitchen with 3-4 of a crew and the fact it was voted best restaurant in Munster this year............ whats going on???

We were bringing Clients to lunch in this restaurant at the weekend and I left feeling very unimpressed. Myself & a colleague arrived at 12pm when the restaurant opened so that we could queue. When we told the waiter that our party was for twelve, he just nodded. Even though there weren't many people being seated ahead of us, he came back to tell us that we would have to sit at two separate tables. For any of you who've been to this restaurant, you would know that it's quite large with plenty of space. We decided to go and have a look at the tables - one was placed beside the window and one was at an angle, the waiter told us that we couldn't put these together as there wouldn't be enough space for the waiters to pass. There was a large table at the end of the room that apparently had been booked by the owner (a restaurant that doesn't take bookings!) and that we couldn't have that one even though we were bringing twelve people in to dine. That table was left empty for the duration of our lunch. Regardless of anything we said, the waiter could not suggest any solution to accommodate us dining together. He would have been happy for us to just leave. At this stage the restaurant is still three quarters empty with the few tables of diners sporadically placed around. Does the owner not care about business? Or do his staff not care about making tips? I know this restaurant has an excellent reputation for food and the food was very good, but unfortunately that didn't make up for the service. This restaurant should not have a listing under the service industry - it is almost as if they don't need customers. A good dose of a recession should give them the kick up the backside they deserve.

Ah, one of my favourites for a nice treat for Saturday lunch. Only been three or four times, exceptional every time. Usually you'll have to wait for 10-20mins at the bar - which is fine with a glass of wine in front of you! Food is genuinely excellent always, had a hake with butternut squash risotto to die for last time we were there, beautiful monkfish the time before and they dont mind you lingering over the food and a bottle of wine for the afternoon either.

I came across this restaurant last month when I visited Kinsale. We noticed a queue outside of it and were looking for somewhere to have lunch so we guessed that it must be good if people are standing outside waiting for tables. We queued and were seated in about 5 mins. As the name suggest the menu is entirely fish but it has a really good selection. We found the food very tasty and the service very good.We were so impressed that we ate lunch there for the next 2 days

I love the fact you cant book this restaurant and that they dont's take credit cards gets rid of the type of Loud-mouth city types that you hate sitting beside. Food is always excellent with the chili seafood salad or the scampi a must for a starter. The specials are always excellent and simple. They should franchise this place it would make a lot of money around the country. But you would have to be ontop of your staff just like the owner is down in Kinsale.

Wow! Loved Fishy Fishy. The place was buzzing and even though they don't take bookings the waiter advised we have a drink in a nearby bar and returned in 30 minutes to which we only had to wait a short while for a table. The wine list is extensive and the food is mouthwatering. Chili seafood starter and hake risotto for the main course were perfect in every way. Staff were very attentive, friendly and although its not cheap I found it excellent value for money. Our meal took nearly three hours and staff didn't feel the need to rush us away from the table. Would highly recommend.

This is one busy spot. People waiting everywhere for a table. Put our name on their waiting list, told it would be 40 mins. Lucky we found a table in their bar area, got menus to look at and ordered a drink. Fab don't mind waiting now once drink is in hand. 20 mins later table is ready, great stuff. The 5 of us ordered from a lovely waiter, asked a few quiestions about the menu, no prob. Service was good but did have to look for the waiter a few times when we wanted more drink but all in all good. The food is delicious but they do know how to charge. This is a great sea food restaurant, and thank god there was a chicken dish on the menu as one of our party does not eat fish. Can't wait till the next time I'm in Kinsale.

Always find the menu quite boring with a lot of fried fish having said that when served it usually tastes very good. Menu is expensive considering the portions are so small. This visit I ordered breaded squid and it was cooked perfectly.

On a wet Sunday on our way back from relaxing in Inchydoney Spa Hotel we went to Kinsale for something to eat. We wandered around and couldn't see anything to excite our taste buds. My partner remembered reading about Fishy Fishy and we were directed to it by a taxi driver. As last orders are 4.30 on Sunday we weren't hopeful of getting a table. However, a highly efficient waiter asked us to wait about 20 minutes in the wine bar and hey presto they produced a table. In the meantime we sipped a lovely sparkling wine and saw a large number of would-be diners being turned away. We didn't go for starters as we had had a huge breakfast in Inchydoney. I went for the cod & chips. If one wanted to quibble it would be about the portions - not a working mans dinner by any stretch of the imagination. However, beautiful homemade bread helps fill the void. I can see why there are queues out the door - we will be back.

This restaurant does not care about regular business, only the tourists. My wife loves this place and brought me there once. I remember having the Seafood chowder as I always have it if it's on the menu. The seafood chowder was red and more like a seafood bisque or something. Best way to explain it was a lot of mixed seafood liquidised and boiled. I complained about it but I was simply told "If it’s so bad how come no one else complains about it". My wife owning two restaurants of her own told me that that was not the way to answer a customer’s complaint. After a few months I went back down there under pressure from the wife. We knew they did not take bookings and were only open for lunch so rang them and asked what time they closed. We were told the time for last orders (Can’t remember exact time) and we got down there 25 minutes before last orders to be told they were closed. I asked them why and the girl said that the kitchen was closed already. I told her I only rang 30 minutes earlier and I even showed her my mobile phone’s last call and she smiled back at me in an arrogant way. I asked for the manager to complain and she hesitated before telling me that the manager was finished. I rang the next day and the manager told me "Yes, I know. And?” I couldn't believe his reaction. I informed him of the contracts I had with hotels in Cork and that I would be taking recommendations back from there. Would not go near the place again. I even wrote to the local radio station about it. They have no respect for local regular staff which is a disgrace. This would be the reason they won’t take reservations, their attitude towards service is terrible.

I've been here two or three times and am always willing to go back. You can't book a table so sometimes there are queues around the corner. The food is excellent and the staff are helpful and friendly, wine list is also extremely good. I cannot recommend this place highly enough

Great homely atmosphere. Food portions were huge. I ordered crab sandwich and my partner ordered fish. Both came with nice presentation - fried sweet potato and potato wedges in a 'tin' cup. The price was a little bit on the higher side but reasonable. We had a great time!

This is the most amazing restuarant. Went there on a sunny, autumn Monday and still had to queue for a table. Well worth the wait though! The food is amazing. The bread and homemade hummous is to die for. Huge portions of the freshest seafood you can get! Amazing. 3 course lunch for two of us came to around €70. Not for everyday but worth it for a special ocassion! Highly recommend
