Best meal for years! One of the most memorable EVER! We spent a lovely mid week evening at Blairs Cove, having saved ourselves all day (as recommended by a local). The fire was welcome and both Gordons and Slimline Tonic (a joke - with all I ate!!) were available along with delicious olives and nuts, before the buffet was ready. Their buffet starter is TO DIE FOR - what a spread! Luxurious pates, tasty local shrimp and oysters, gravalax, sushi (never sure why I always try it) Thai salmon, tasty mushrooms, duck liver pate, various salads, a memorable carrot one.. sublime! My husband chose the catch of the day a sea bream which was simply cooked and substantial and its flavour was excellent. I had scallops and they were delicious. The herb roasted potatoes were wonderful, the vegetables a bit of a surprise - chick peas with some peppers and spices - this was the only thing I might have changed. The dessert buffet was also splendid, beautifully presented and as most were in small portions you could try a few. A half bottle of wine was a fine accompaniment. The building is just wonderful, a barn conversion and a lovely place to spend the evening. We are still dreaming of this fabulous meal and hardly ate for two days following!

Visited for dinner on a midweek evening. Very friendly and professional service. Format is to chose from a well presented buffet that included all types of shellfish, terrines and vegtable dishes. Mains after that are from an interesting menu. We had the John Dory and a Crab Risotto with monkfish. Both were really excellent. Again, desserts can be chosen from a great table selection. Overall, wasa very good meal in a beautiful location. It's a little expensive at €58 but the quality justifies the price

Went for the early bird. It was 10 years since I last ate in Blairs Cove and I though that the buffet was bigger then. However, the quality of the buffet is still excellent. We had a really nice meal, served by friendly staff. The wine list is somewhat limited but satisfied our needs. Overall a good exoerience, but a bit pricey in the current climate.

Ate here yesterday. Really, really good meal with well trained, relatively knowledgeable staff offering good service. The dining room is very atmospheric and really works well. You are escorted to a buffet for the first course which is dominated by really fresh seafood including gravad lax, poached salmon, mussels, oysters, herrings and crab roulade. There are some salads and chorizo and pates also. The main courses were superb and my pork had been cooked and seasoned exquisitely. The deserts are very good without setting the world on fire and the petit fours are excellent. On the negative side - the wine cellar is poorly stocked. My first two choices were not available. The list is not very inspiring either displaying a strong bias towards heavy reds that I would associate more with petrol station off licenses rather than an accomplished restaurant. The whites were safe choices and I am sure they fit the bill but a bit more research may allow the wines to sing along with the food. The second negative is the surprisingly meek range of whiskeys, cognacs and armagnacs. €6.50 for the drop of Armagnac I had is probably a third of what it cost. I also had to ask to have my armagnac heated which one should be able to take for granted. These quibbles aside it was a really great dining experience. I think if they let a sommellier offer them some hints the restaurant could offer a more complete overall experience.
