A flashing sign on the Cork Midleton road advised me of Great Meal Deals at Water Rock House. Breaking my journey for lunch was in my plan so I visited. The grounds were wonderfully maintained with the house itself more in the style of a Country Inn than a posh country house. As a starter I opted for a seafood chowder with rustic brown bread, which was superb. As I struggled through the meal in a bowl I began to regret that I had ordered a main course! My cod main course, was another challenge to my already satiated appetite. Three fillets of delightfully prepared cod graced my plate. The delicately flavoured fish was accompanied with enough veg, mash and chunky cut deep fried potatoes to keep me fed for another week. In short the food was fresh, local, and brilliantly prepared without pretention.

Good honest to god grub, no indegestion, decor old fashioned but over all, you went for dinner, what you got was good and reliable. As a friend stated it was like getting Mammys' dinner away from home and that is a compliment any day

visited here after a walk in the area & had lunch in the bar. Cleared the plate though nothing special. Would recommend if you are in a rush

Brought here by a friend. Nice atmosphere & friendly staff. Had the fried ballycotton cod-fresh & generous portion. Friend had the spare ribs, again very generous portion. However according to my friend the price has increased quite a bit compared to 1 yr ago. overall good experience.

Had lunch there today (beef casserole),tasty but the veg was just pureed carrots, chips and mash. Service was friendly and prompt, good if your in a hurry.
