In Midleton, last Saturday for a little bit of shopping. Rarely go there but was looking for a quick bite to keep me going till I got home. Tried Finin's in the middle of the town and what a gem. It's rare to find a restaurant/pub that can accomadate you so well at any time of the day. I had a hearty vegetable soup, followed by seafood on brown bread. Both were delicious and fresh. The staff were very welcoming and although not being from the town I felt part of something local and friendly. I had a quick look at all the menus and they have a great variety. I will definitely go back and sample more.

Down in Cork recently for a weekend with my husband and the kids visiting Fota Island and we decided to go on to Midleton for a wander. We dropped into Finin’s for a cup of tea and ended up staying for lunch. It was a miserable day and the food was just what we were looking for…good wholesome home cooked food and a real family atmosphere. My husband and I had starters of prawns and fresh crab and the duck and the baked mussels as mains. The fish was the freshest I have ever tasted…really good. We got some children’s sizes of the bar menu for the kids although they do have a children’s menu too.We received a really warm welcome from the staff and the owner himself stopped by our table for a chat. A really enjoyable place to eat and excellent service. Well done guys for making our trip that little bit special.

I have eaten many times in Finins and cannot recommend it enough. The pate stater is to die for with the cranberry sauce and I often have it as a main with their hand cut chips if Im not feeling like a big meal and want to be sure I've room for their cheese board after. If you like me have a weakness for duck but can't tolerate when it's not cooked to crisp perfection then this is the place to eat it. I eat all but the bone, it's just so good. The staff there are very welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed and not too stuffy. It may be a little pricier than some restaurants but when you know all the produce is fresh and local, you know it's worth it.

I am a regular visitor to Finins, and i have to admit I love the place. Last time I visited I had the Medallions of beef, and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Midleton and looking for somewhere friendly and atmospheric to eat in.

I visited Finin’s with my partner on a recent visit to see friends in East Cork. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and so did my partner. It’s a casual pub style restaurant where we were made to feel very welcome from the time we walked in the door until we left by the very polite and friendly staff. I had the chicken liver pate to start which in my opinion is the best I have ever tasted and I’d go back for it alone. My partner a fish lover ..had salmon with crab to start followed by the monkfish and he is still raving about it. Although the food is pricier than some alternatives ..you can taste the quality of the ingredients and according to the fish lover ..the freshness…we washed it all down with a lovely bottle of wine. I will be going back to Finin‘s on my next visit to Cork and a big thanks to all the staff for a very enjoyable experience.

Finin's is like a pub/restuarant - quite casual in terms of dress, service & food. While the staff are very pleasant & polite the price of the food is outrageous. While the food was ok, it was definitely not worth the money - €30 for scampi - while I realise scampi can be expensive, I feel this price would be more suited to scampi in a more formal, occasion restuarant. I had been to Finin's on 2 previous occasions & I returned because it is a casual place where you can drop in for a quick bite to eat after work. I will not be going back to Finin's - in this day & age it is far too pricey for what you get- definitely not value for money.

Food is ok, old fashioned and a bit expensive for what you get.

Just called in here for lunch. Oh dear! Stuck in 1980, not just the menu! Very expensive menu, bowl of mussels, 20e,homemade pate 11.50e, a little OTT, don't you think? I had an open chicken on brown, very mediocre;served with a spoon of coleslaw and potato salad, not hectic, but maybe you get what you pay for here, it was only 7.50e! Sis had the beef, plain roast with oxtail soup, sorry gravy! and a little bowl of veg. The service was good and the waitress was very nice, but she couldn't keep the freezing breeze from the window howling over our table.I asked for mayo and it duly came in a little ramekin, but as we were finished she gave the same pot of mayo to another customer, not promising. I was given a voucher and so had a look at the evening menu,as said earlier 80's on the sheet. If lunch is anything to go by I am not hopeful. On the plus, there is an earlybird, three courses 25e, at least I can spend the rest on wine!

Beautiful food! I had the seafood platter which was unbelievable, then had the monkfish for maincourse which was also beautiful, my other half had the pate and steak, which didnt last very long on his plate! Always a very good sign! We had a beautiful bottle of red with the meal and were happy with everything. The total was a little of the expensive side, but well worth it for a special occasion, will DEFINITELY be back!

This place is very busy at lunch time. I have only eaten in the pub. They will squeese you in somewhere. The food is ok plain, and never as good as it is discribed, the discriptions on the menu fall short of what you get on your plate.. But if you like seafood, you won't get fresher than here. (They are situated across from the fish shop) Their seafood platter is lovely. But the service is eratic, what you saw on the menu might vary....If they can remember to put on the coleslaw and salad and marie rose sauce, and if they can remember to bring your brown bread, ready buttered... The poor man beside re order his coleslaw at least twice while I was there, I don't think he ever got it. I had nothing but fish on my platter, but the waitress was totally under pressure, so I didn't complain. My fish platter was super dispite the missing bits!

I ate here recently after reading a smashing article in the Sunday Independent. It was just as described, absolutely excellent. I had soup to start and mouth watering duck for main course. Truly Superb all round and the waitress was very courteous. Will be returning here again very shortly. Highly recommended

I ate there after hearing so much about this restaurant on saturday. overall, very disappointed with everything bar the service. Terrible dessert menu. Also, couldn't believe a service charge of 10% and there was only 2 of us!!

Ate here last Saturday night, was looking forward to a really nice dinner because I had heard good things about this restaurant- got the baked stuffed mussels for starter and they were delicious, the best I have ever had, believe me I know my mussels! Then ordered the chicken in white wine and cream sauce, it was basically bisto with mushrooms - my husband ordered the fillet steak with wine and mushroom sauce and it was the same sauce!! Not very good, I actually didn't eat my chicken the waitress asked us if everything was ok, I said that the chicken wasn't what I expected and she basically shrugged her shoulders. The saving grace was the delicious dessert platter delicious
