Was delighted when Copan first opened as I live in the area and enjoy eating out and socialising. First time there was very impressed the decor was really cool and the food was amazing, really enjoyed. Went many times after to enjoy the 5euro cocktail menu which is great, also brought friends loads of times and recommended to many. Last time me and my boyfriend went for dinner was hugely disappointed and surprised at how downhill the food has gone, my pasta dish was mainly oil and the vegetables very withered and limp, my boyfriends dish, Shepards pie, was more like soup with tiny bits of mince floating around and the potato was very waxy. Did not enjoy one bit, but as we enjoy the cocktails there frequently chose not to say anything but never eat there again. On a Thursday night recently they had a ladies night where all ladies received 4 coupons for cocktails. I told a group of friends who were excited about the night. As I work late Thursday's they headed in before me, after work I met for boyfriend and one of my friends boyfriends and went for a bite to eat then headed up to Copan to meet the rest of the group. We were refused entry! The explanation being not tonight! All 3 of us were dressed casual, neat and tidy, were completely sober and very shocked. Very politely we asked to see the manager, a man (possibly not the manager) came out and when we asked for an explanation, he backed the door man saying they didn't have to give one. Not only was I offended it was embarrassing, as I had inviting my friends to meet me there, they left quiet annoyed at the situation after I rang to inform them we had been refused entry. I think it is a disgrace that respectable adults would be treated in such a manner, especially when I have given this establishment so much custom. I would encourage people to not bother giving their hard earned money for awful food to a business that looks down on you. I and anyone I know will ever return to Copan.

I had a meal here yesterday, Sunday and was pretty disappointed to say the least. I popped in with my girlfriend for the second half of the United game, and there was a good few patron's in the bar. I ordered a steak sambo and she had an all day breakfast with two drinks. The match had ended and the bar had quietened down and one of the staff that wasn't or server noticed that we still had nothing in front of us, our drinks had not arrived a half hour later, so she enquired with the kitchen. It appeared our docket had not gone through and they offered to comp our drinks. That was understandable but it appeared they never informed the kitchen and we had to wait a further 40 minutes. The food when it came was basic, the steak was not a nice cut, was half fat. I ordered wedges and got fries, the bread was a chiabatta with a large amount of onion presumably to make up for the lack of meat, the salad was pretty thin and there was not much of it. My partner's toast was burnt. They did comp the meal when I enquired if someone had informed the kitchen the first time to put a rush on and they admitted they hadn't. We were told the manager was aware of it but we didn't see him. I wouldn't have found the experience too bad except when we we leaving one of the servers remarked sarcastically that she supposed we would not be back. I live in Rathmines, sadly I will, but not for food. A nice spot for a few cocktails after work. Beautiful decor and I've been looking forward to eating here but sadly for food, over-priced, poor portions and appalling service.

great to see such a well run and trendy pub popping up in rathmines. place is always spotless and staff are on the ball. we've had many quick snack type bites here and although it isnt the most amazing food in the world - we've never been dissapointed.. and the surroundings are beautifull. great for group night out.
