Love this restaurant, have been here twice for lunch. They have a really good lunch deal, I'd def recommend it. I think it's 4 courses for 19.99. When I was there first I got a fried camembert cheese salad for starters and it was genuinely delicious. The portions for the starter and main course are quite big and taste amazing. The restaurant was quiet the 2 times I was there but the manager is very friendly and the service is great.

I have not visited this restaurant before but was enticed by the menu on their website so myself and my husband gave it a go. The venue itself is a little bit disappointing as it is not a romantic candlelit setting. It is too bright and sparse and clinical, it needs some softer warmer tones. The service however was excellent, the two ladies that served us were both attentive and one in particular had a good sense of humour. The food overall was very nice indeed, I would definitely recommend the calamari and chorizo sausage starter. My husband absolutely devoured his liver pâté, he said it was unlike any other he tasted. I had the Hake for my main meal with a pea purée, croquette and asparagus tips...it was good but I felt it needed a kick like a possible salsa purée maybe...just too bland for me. My husband's steak was great and huge. The portions were generally good sizes. The desert was a chocolate tart and although the chocolate was delicious the base had that taste of being in the fridge too long. The coffees were not strong I think I would ask for a double espresso if I was going again. Overall this was a very good meal with excellent value and service. The early bird was on until 9pm which my husband availed of and I had a starter and main meal from the á la carte, with two glasses of wine, a mineral and two coffees the bill was under 70euros.

My husband & I had the early bird on a Sunday evening. First impressions were not good - the decor is sparse, "Piano-Man" was playing at full blast & there were only three tables full. However, the food promptly put any concerns to bed. We had brie & bruschetta for starters - both large portions & very tasty. Lamb shank was well cooked, though we felt the meat itself may not have been great; pasta with fish had lots of fish & had the spicy sauce replaced for me with no issue. Meringue & cheescake desserts were lovely. Fantastic value early bird at €20 each - the best I have tried in Cork I think.

I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant after reading the menu online. Went here with my partner for a romantic meal. I was very surprised by the decor in the place when i walked in. It is very very bright and there were unused tables and chairs crowded together at the back of the restaurant near where we were seated. I really think lowering the lighting and doing a simple bit of housekeeping would do wonders for the place. We thought it felt a bit like a food court or a diner. The food however was top class. There was loads to choose from on the menus. We ordered from the a la carte menu. I had the rabbit to start and the seabass for main. The other half had the fish cakes and the hake. All of the food was beautifully flavoured and presented beautifully. My only complaint was that my rabbit starter was tiny. For the price I expected a larger portion even if it was tasty. The other half had the panacotta for desert and was also disappointed by the portion size although he said the flavours were beautiful. Overall I would highly rate the food here. It was the best that I've had in a long time. If the decor issues were sorted out it could be a really amazing restaurant as it really lacks ambience at the moment. On another note the early bird menu looked like great value. 21 euro for 3 courses with a good selection for each course. I'll definitely be returning to try it.

We booked a table for 6 at 7.30pm on Saturday. It all started off well. The selection on the menu was good. 5 of the 6 people decided to get the 4 course special for €35 but we all left 3 hours later after getting only 3 of the course. The first 2 courses were good but the deserts were terrible- the tarlets were anyway- they felt like they had been taken out of the freezer and the bases were rock solid and impossible to break with your spoon without sending it across the room. Services was very slow so we just ended up leaving. I've been there 4 times now due to the location and all times my experince has been similar

Arrived @ 8PM, the restaurant was mostly empty, we were seated immediately at a small table for 2. The Menu looked good. We ordered Tapas for starter, Venison & Cod for Main course, Panacotta for desert and finished off with Coffee. The Tapas was a strange combination of warm cheese, luke warm skewer of prawn & calamari, a square of pork belly and a shredded meat wrap. Strange & unsatisfying. My better half was delighted with the Venison, although the splodge of aubergine he left on the plate was a crime. The Cod and side of chunky chips were warm at best, the piece of Cod was the size of a 10 pack of Major served with green beans & Salsa Verde. The Cod itself was tasty, but the other flavours on the plate murdered it. The Panacotta was delicious when I separated it from the pool of fruit compote which completely destroyed the flavour. The Coffee both Americano and Espresso were dilute, and made for a very unpleasant finish. The waiters were efficient and polite if a tad aloof, the Maitre d’ tipped along at an unsettling military pace. Overall it was a disappointing dining experience. PS. the Wirra Wirra, 'Church Block' wine was excellent.

This restaurant is stylish and modern with a warm inviting atmosphere. The food was incredible, impressively well presented and the interesting combination of flavours in our dishes really pleased the pallet. All credit goes to the chefs of this restaurant; the menu has a diverse range of tastes which sets this restaurant apart from your normal dining experience. The wine list is cleverly selected to compliment any dish you choose. The staff were very well informed to help us make our food and drink choices and made us feel we could stay there for the entire evening with ease. I highly recommend this restaurant for its fantastic food, well priced and excellent professional service.

An experienced diner I loved this place. Open and fresh with such a choice of menus never mind dishs the hardest part was what menu to choose eventually a comprimise was reached by her good self who decided the steak at an extra 3.50 was 'a bargin' on the early bird, she is seldom wrong and more than a bargin I did get everything I enjoy the most, am only afraid their menu changes again before I can try everything, quite busy for a Sunday evening

The Bay Leaf is a place where you can go with the girls,as a family or even as a couple. The atmosphere is great and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Although it was quite busy, the staff took the time to attend to our every need. The food is great, the chef gives great attention to detail and it really pays off. I found it very reasonable with regard to price. We ordered from the early bird menu and paid €19.95 for three courses and at that we were struggling!! Great value and the portions were impressive. The staff also offered an a la carte menu with excellent choices also. This is a place I would most definately return to and recommend to anyone at any age. The Bay Leaf is a restaurant in a greatly-chosen location. Douglas was in need of a unique place just like this, I would love to see it do well.

I ordered of the a la carte menu and was very happy with the food. There is a great choice in the menu and although the usual chicken and fish dishes are present, the combination of sides and flavours was amazing and completely differene from other restaurants. There is a lovely atmosphere in the place and the staff are extremelly helpful annd friendly. It was very busy when I was there but the service and food were perfect. I struggle to find fault with any part of this establishment and will most definately be returning. Also the prices are very reasonable.

I availed of the early bird offer. was expecting the food to be fantastic since it was a brand new restraunt and it had been quite busy. i had the black pudding and prawn salad for starters-recieved 2 tiny pieces of pudding, and ONE prawn!!! it was disgraceful. i am raging i didnt complain. . I mean, it was still tasty, but come on. 1 prawn. scandalous. I had the duck to follow. was cooked well, however, the red wine cabbage sauce it comes in tastes the exact same as mince pies for christmas! didnt go well with it. Desert was not great either. Definatley not going back here! However the staff were very nice. But that alone wont make me go back

I have eaten here twice. Once for breakfast and once for dinner. The service is excellent and so accommodating and they don't rush you. The food on both occasions was really good. The only negative thing is that it was quite chilly in there. Could do with a bit of heat. Over all a lovely dining experience and will be back!

Two of us had a gorgeous meal in the Bay Leaf, its a lovely room and the food is really top notch, I had the pork belly and the better half had the salmon, we ordered from the a la carte menu as we didnt feel like starters or desserts, but the early bird menu is great value at €20 which Im already planning on going back for. Good work lads, keep it up

We ate here recently i really enjoyed it.Its a fairly new restaurant so the place looked lovely and fresh, with lovely paintings hanging on the walls. Menu not too extensive but still think there is something for everyone on it. The food was very tasty, tho i did ask for my steak well done and it was still a little pink inside but tasted really good never the less. Service professional and efficent and in my opinion everything was quite reasonably priced. Will def be going again
