the atmosphere in ecos resturant is really warm and freindly.when you walk into the resturant the staff are so warm and welcoming and they alwas make sure you are ok for everything.it is quite small and gets very bizzy but i belive this is because the food is really delisous and brillinat qualitly, also the price is very good with starters from around 3 euro to 6 euro, main courses from 10 euro to 20 euro and desserts from 3 euro to 6 euro. the only bad thing i would say is there is only a bathroom up stairs ,so not good for older people. i have been here many times with my family for birthdays and sometimes just for a lovely lunch or dinner out and i must say i would tell every one to go there at least once.but i will tell you that you will want to keep going back for more.

Eco's is great food at great value. The tables are very close together so I wouldn’t recommend it for a romantic dinner but great for a catch up with friends or just a lively atmosphere with great food

Had a lovely pre cinema meal here with my better half. we weren't happy with where we were sat first of all but the staff gladly relocated us with out a problem. My partner being the red blooded male he is had the burger with bacon ad cheese and there wasn't a word out of him for the entire time it was in front of him. I choose one of the special a broccoli and chicken bake that came with garlic bread, although it was my own fault( I was convinced it said "pasta bake") , was disappointed . but none the less ate it. Both of were too full for dessert but there was some nice selections and looked very appetising coming out of the kitchen.

Stopped in for a bite on my own around 6pm on a Tuesday evening. Place was quite busy with a good buzz about the place. Tables were a bit close together and almost felt I was part of someone elses table. However service and staff were excellent. Food was quite good and reasonably priced. Would most likely visit again if in the area.

We sometimes go to eco for sunday lunch. The food is always good. The restaurant is somewhat cramped and the tables are close together. The staff are under pressure when busy but friendly. The menu changes seasonally and the food is always nice. Always go back. Would recommend

I went here with my girlfriend. She had been before and said the food was great. It was even better than I expected. we got a lovely seat near the window which was nice as well. I got the Madras curry which was one of the best I have had. I would recommend this restaurant highly

Went with 12 for a birthday party at the weekend. I had been warned beforehand that it's warm and cramped, thankfully it's March! For starters I had fritto misto, a mix of fish in tempura batter - lovely, even though I didn't know what fish I was eating. I had fillet steak with Mexican sauce - the steak was perfect, the sauce was tomato soup. Out of the 12 of us, I think 2 were disappointed, the vegetarian who had the satay, too salty and my aunt who had an extremely overcooked burger. Trout, in all its entirety, was lovely. I'm not a fan of sizzling griddles and this was made worse by the cramped conditions, very hot plates were handed over customers' heads. There was heater over my head which subjected me to visits with a stick over my head to turn it on/off. Desserts were huge and satisfied everyone. Staff were nice. I would go again, but not in summer!

I only visited this restaurant for the first time recently, and had been hearing great things about it, however I was disappointed. Admittedly, most of the praise seemed heaped on the deserts, which I rarely eat, but the main courses were average at best. The food is basic, I have no idea why they insist on putting salad in the same bowl as pastas and noodle dishes, and the menu is huge, so I think a lot of the food must be pre-cooked and reheated. The decor is old-fashioned and very cramped, even a little grimey. Staff were friendly but no-one seemed to want to bring a bill and we had to go to the overcrowded counter area to pay. Maybe it appeals if you are 18 years old and want somehere to go with 12 mates, where everyone will be happy with the menu, but I prefer quality over quantity.

Ate here last week and enjoyed the food but whats up with putting a frying pan of your meat on the table and chips in a huge plate with no room for the main in it. Watch out for the soy which comes in the vinegar bottle next to the salt.

I was taken here on its reports of being a good vegetarian friendly restaurant. Reports were right and I ordered the vegetarian stir fry. I would rate the service quite poorly because of being given someone else's dish but the food itself made up for that. Large portion size with fresh ingredients. The atmosphere was busy and young but comfortable.Overall, a great dining experience.

The food here is outstanding. excellent value for money, big portions and most importantly gorgeous food. huge variety on the menu. I had the emperor salad for starter and it is the nicest salad I've had. We had curry & cajun salmon for main course and both were great. Dessers were fab as well...Snickers cake amazing. The only down side of this place for me is that the restaurant itself is quite cramped and its normally very busy so can be quite noisy. But the price and portions of the food make up for it so just be sure to book a table in advance and go hungry!!

Excellent food and nice wine list. The portions there are just HUGE which is fantastic. Great value for money. Fantastic selection. It's booked out every weekend which speaks for itself these days. Great for groups too.

This restaurant offers great value for money and this is why it is always booked out, at weekends especially. I ate here with a few girlfriends for lunch and all of our food was really great. My only gripe with this restaurant is that their booking schedule is very tight and there is no opportunity for you to relax at the end of your meal and order another coffee or bottle of wine after desert. The minute your main is finished you are given the desert menu and when desert is finished you are given the bill! However we all keep returning because the value is great and the food of a very good quality. I had the chargrilled fillets of pork which were excellent and the other 2 girls had the chicken pavesse which is legendary. Overall a great restaurant.

Have eaten twice here and cannot wait to go back. First time, I had the garlic mushrooms for starter and Cajun Chicken for main. Also tasted the mixed bruschetta and the satay. All of which tasted fantastic, huge portions and very reasonably priced. Returned a second time and ordered the blue ridge chicken salad which is one of the nicest salads I've had in a long time followed by the snickers cake for desert. Again, food was delicious, nice portions and very good price. Highly recommend this restaurant and will deffinitely be returning. Only downside was it is incredibly warm inside and a little cramped. Doesn't stop this place from being completely booked out every time we go. Reservations essential to get a table, up to a week in advance if you want a saturday evening.

So overrated. Service is good and its not particularly expensive but the food is DIRE. All dishes are effectively the same thing - overdressed salad, potatoes and overcooked bland meat etc. Last day I ordered pasta. it was totally overcooked with hardly any sauce and i had to ask for extra sauce. i got a half bowl of salad IN THE SAME BOWL AS THE PASTA even though it was covered in dressing! ordered garlic bread and every piece came out with cheese on it. not requested and not even mozzarella, CHEAP CHEDDER. My mother and a few of my friends are wild for the place but every time it is suggested as a venue I cry a little inside. AVOID.

A girly night out, landed us here for an evening meal. The setting is dask and on this warm evening was so sticky and heavy. The tables are jammed and it wasn't easy to get around. This wasn't made better by the size of the plates, all elbows! The menus are decent and they don't change much but, that said they work. we all had a starter, i got the fritto misto, like a bag of revels you never really know what you'll get! battered deep fried smoked haddock, it's an aquired taste! The prawns were delicious, chilli and garlic, fab with some delicious bread. the salads were lovely and well dressed if a little over seasoned. The mains varied, the veg stirfry has been doing well here for years and one of the girls asked for some saladgreat big portions, all good. The burger was nice if a tiny bit dry, good wedges served with and a nice salad. The chicken curry was, different but good, not very hot but thicken with spud. Aubergine/tomato and potato bake was covered in a thick layer of greasy melted cheddar, the tomato was intence and it needed lots of salad. We ordered a fine bottle of Pino Grigio, 22e, very reasonable. we all had coffees and some induldged in some chocolates, which were dissapointing as they wer the Guilan shells, urgh! However a table of 8, we were all served reasonably quickly even if the waitress was a tad brusque, as such a big table service was instantly included, I always have an issue, however we would have included a decent tip. Only complaint was the cramped styling, it's kinda jaded and needs a little revamp.

Love it. Love it. Love it. You can’t go wrong here with its extensive menu and friendly staff. The place is always buzzing if a bit cramped but the quality of the food makes up for it. Blue Ridge Chicken Starter is fab as is the Sole Goujons and the Curry and the prices are very reasonable. Its just magic.

Dinner on a Saturday night with two friends. What a disappointment. The restaurant is so cramped and all of the tables are extremely close to each other that it is very uncomfortable, and the interior is so outdated and run down that it looks like it badly needs to be painted. The menu appeared to have a good selection of dishes. I order the Chicken Satay and rice. When it arrived it was an enormous portion, and from the first bite it reminded me of a poor Chinese takeout dish. The sauce tasted plain, chicken was fine and over all pretty bad. Poor presentation. Dessert of Banoffi Pie was delicious. The bill was approximately 75 for one bottle of House wine, three mains, two dessert and three coffees. I have no intention of ever returning to the restaurant.

Ate here with my partner last night and we basically did the works on the place - still stuffed! For Starters: Me: Selection of garlic breads. Scrumptious! Him: BBQ Mushrooms. Not great, no BBQ taste at all at all. Mains: Me: Double Eco Homemade Burger. Huge but lovely...would go for just the single one next time. Him: Bacon and Cheese Burger. He loved it, very very good meat and mix with the bacon and cheese. Dessert: Me: Snickers Cake & Scoop of Ice Cream. This is DIVINE. Very very filling though! Only get this if you like the normal Snickers bar. Scoop of ice cream was huge too which was delicious. Him: Cheesecake. Again, divine. Best biscuit base ever and very high quality ingredients used. Overall I will be going back again. I was eyeing up a Beef Madras on the table next to me so I really want to try that. The price was great, as well as the service. I would agree with other reviews that all of the tables were very close together. As yesterday evening was a very hot evening, it was a little bit uncomfortably hot inside but it didn't bother me too much.

love to eat at Eco in Douglas. very good selection of food. the desserts are scrumptuous and much better value than other restaurants. the only flaw i'd say is that the tables can be quite close together. aside from that the portions are huge and recently the take away service is ideal for anyone in a rush

I have been to Eco on numerous occassions and it never disappoints. The food is always excellent and great value for money. The only crib is the space in the restaurant, it is hard to have a quiet conversation and even though the restaurant had 3 doors open it was still very warm inside. But this did not spoil the experience too much.

When my husband & I eat here, we always have mixed opinions - he always loves it & I'm always a little disappointed. The menu is always the same - for me it means I can avoid disappointing dishes, for him he can revisit old favourites. Starters - he had pasta & chorizo, huge portion but tasty, I had sole, v.fresh & tasty. Mains - fish special, quite overcooked, and burger - huge again, good quality meat. Dessert - huge - banoffee which was good, meringue rouldade which is disappointing I think. For portion size, quality of food & price it is always great value - I just wish once I woould come out of there feeling like that was enough!

Went with a group for my sisters birthday party. I have been here a few times now and this is a very hard restaurant to describe. Atmosphere is great because it's always busy. Cajun mushrooms are top class, salads are good, curries I would cook myself (but good), hazelback potatoes are heaven, steak is average and they always refuse to take the duck of the bone ( I always ask just to annoy them ). Coffee is rubbish, desserts are good but quantity over quality. Had the Cod with vegetables and all I could taste was rosemary. My wife had the chicken burger which was really good. My opinion is that it is a good restaurant, depending on what u like but it is very over rated. Yes, I would go back again, but after dining there so many times, I know what to avoid.

Went to Eco with a group of 10 people, restaurant was pleasant with a nice atmosphere. Staff seemed under pressure though and they had to apologise as the white wine we ordered wasnt chilled. I had the mushroom soup for starters which was excellent served with good selection of breads. My girlfriend had prawns to start which was also very good. For main course I had special curry with rice and chips. The portions for all main courses were massive which actually made finishing for anyone a struggle. Banoffi for desert was good (huge portions again!) Overall a fine place to eat for a casual meal- especially if you're famished !

Was very busy at 6.30 on a tuesday but i have never been when it was quiet!! Just had 2 main courses but were stuffed after. Had beef satay, half chips/half rice. Absolutely gorgeous. Husband had breast of chicken curry with chips and loved it. Ordered noodles also but they werent great which we were very surprised at, bit watery!! Will be making another trip again soon..

Went here on a random Thursday night with a friend as she had been a few times and quite liked the place. The atmosphere was nice but the place is tight on space and we were up on top of another table. I ordered the seafood pasta and my friend had the stir-fry, the food was average enough. The wine we had was very nice though and i had the most beautiful piece of banoffi pie to finish with. The waitress who served us really rushed us and there was barely two minutes between starters and mains. We were happy with the price of the meal but to be honest i wouldn't go back.

I eat in Ecos on a regular basis and it never disapoints. A large menu which is great value and friendly efficent staff. When I ate here a few nights ago I had 'my usual' shared cajun mushrooms to start, a large emperor salad for main and we shared a desert of profiteroles. The other half had the madras curry. The food here is always lovely and is always consistant. It won't win many awards for originality or imagination but it is great value and does have god flavours (you can smell the beautiful curry long before it arrives). My only complaint about the place is that some of the tables are small and really close together. As the portions are HUGE then it can be hard to fit everything on the tables and often you end up feeling a bit squashed which is why i wouldn't recommend it for a romantic meal. Booking is essential if you want to come on a weekend night or bank holiday.

Ate here on Bank Holiday Monday and it was packed. A booking is essential. Really really lovely food. Very good value too. I had the pork which was perfectly cooked and the mushroom and pepper sauce was gorgeous. So tasty! The portion looked small enough but was certainly big enough as the sauce was quite rich. Was dying for the bannoffie pie but unfortunately I didn't have the space left! Very good value for money too. Only downside was the toilets...communal which is a pet hate of mine!!! Other than that could not complain about anything. Service was very good and we were not at all rushed. Will most definitely be making a return trip here and would definitely recommend it to anyone. The menu has something for everyone.

cant believe we only went here now!! what a find! We had 3 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts which we couldn't fit in, 2 reg coffee's and a bottle of wine for 80 euro. The staff are great and seem genuinely happy to be there, laid back in a good way! Its no wonder the place is jammed every night. had Roast pepper salad 1st, my partner had soup and we shared a selection of garlic bread.... each as good as the next. Had Sole for main, cooked perfectly and served still in the pan which I thought was a nice touch, Partner had chicken in whiskey sauce, the portion was huge but to good to leave any. Had cheese cake and profriterols for dessert but unfortunatly were to ful to finish them. I already know what I'm getting next time!

The food here is gorgeous and it is resonably priced. There is just 1 fault however, the restaurant is jam packed with people- everybody is sitting on top of eachother and it is like they are trying to squeeze as many people in as possible. This establishment does have a great reputation and I can see why- the food is delicious.

Really good value, good staff, warm comfortable restaurant in the hear of Douglas. The curry is excellent! The tables are quite close together so you find yourself whispering at times! Deserts are freshly made, the banoffee is to die for! You usually need a reservation as the place is always choca. good choice overall.

I just loved my first visit to Eco's in Douglas. For a monday night the place was full, so i could understand the advance booking required. The staff were very attentive from arrival. Such a wide variety on the menu so i knew i needed starter, main, dessert. We both ordered blue ridge chicken to start. Beautiful. For main i had Asian pork stir fry while my friend had the duck, Both dishes were incredible. For dessert we both had to try the Banoffi Pie. I have tried banoffi in every place i go and i can honestly say the was by far the best. the total bill came to 66.00 euro which we both though was incredible value. We will be returning here again very soon. I really canot fault this place on anything.

Thanks to menupages I decided to give this a try and I was not disappointed. There is no recession going on in Douglas because the place was buzzing on a Wednesday night. Very extensive menu, great atmosphere, excellent service and an all-round thumbs-up for this lively cozy restaurant. It deserves to be full on a midweek evening! And yes I'll be back.

Very cramped, so close to other people you might end up eating their chips by mistake! They really squeeze too many tables in to the restaurant, potential should be included in the Guinness Book of Records for most meals served per square foot of floor space. The food is good and the menu is very extensive however can't understand why you need to book so far in advance just to get a table, it isn't exactly the most impressive restaurant in Cork. I must admit I am not a huge believer in offering certain dishes as starter and as well as a main course, always get the impression when I see that, the starter will be too big or the main course won't be filling enough! In any case what they do, they do well in fairness, good food and price is ok. Fills a gap

Eco douglas is cramped! Lots of familys with children and people going out for a meal before hitting the town. Would not reccommend it for dates! The food was good. Nothing special but it certainly hit the spot. The dishes are quite large. I had the fettucini in basil pesto and I can honestly say, its the biggest plate of pasta that i've ever seen! My friend got the chicken and loved it. Again, very large portions. The service was ok. Very polite, but not very attentive. We had to call them everytime we needed something, although, the waitress was nice and recommended a great wine. The value was awesome. Our meal with wine cost E35. We were stuffed!! All in all, it was a good place to get started before we went out. I will return again!

Good value food but its always too busy, cramped seating. Not ideal for a quiet meal and a chat, too loud - you'll have to shout over each other. Handy for a quick bite to eat after work. Desserts are great. Reservation always needed, hard to get a table.

I loved ECOs again! There is no recession evident when you walk into ECOs. It is packed to the brim each night you go there. There is an exceptionally relaxed atmosphere allowing you to have a noisy night with the girls or a relaxed meal for two. The food is divine and the range of choice enough to keep the most choosy of palettes happy. But the best of all is the price - unbelievable value for money. 2 starters, 2 main courses, 1 dessert and 1 tea - for less than €44! There is generally a wait for your table - not more than 15 mins - but when you get to your table you don't feel cramped at all, even though the restaurant is buzzing. Fabulous food, relaxed yet buzzing atmosphere, diners of all ages - but the value for money is incredible!!!

I absolutely love Eco's! Food is excellent, decent portions and delicious. The restaurant is definately cramped with not much space between each table but it actually somehow works and makes the place cosy and for evening meals it is very dimly lit with lovely candles. The sides of all different potatoes are gorgeous and I try a different one each time I go. Can't wait to go again!

ecos is a favourite of many of my friends. the food is always superb but they let themselved down by having customers cramped into small areas and a number of times ive been made to feel like ive a time limit on each course if im there early on a busy night. if we are told that the table is needed again when we book then we will make sure we are gone. i dont like being rushed. the staff are friendly and helpful and the desserts are to die for. you only have to walk past the window to be tempted in by the spectacular display. more room and this would be top class

I have been to Eco's a number of times. It is one of my favourite restaurants in Cork. I find this restaurant to be a lovely place for a girls night out or for a romantic evening for two. It can be a little bit cramped as they try to maximise on the space they have but the food is delicious. I am a big fan of their chicken sandwiches. I also had the nutburger a month ago. I am not vegetarian but was intrigued by the burger. It was delicious and I would recommend to anyone, vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Overall I had a very enjoyable and relaxing experience.

I hadn't been to Eco's for a few years and on my recent visit for a late lunch I was glad to see the quality of food and service was still as good as ever. There's such an extensive menu that Eco will please every palate. It's great it has remained consistantly good and value for money. The only downside is that is can be a bit squashed when it really busy.

I've eaten at Eco's loads of times and I have to say it's always a good experience. Food is fantastic and very reasonable. The only thing is that the restaurant is a little cramped but I'm probably being a bit harsh there.

Great food, good wine list and very competitive prices. I have eaten at Eco's a number of times, and have always enjoyed the experience. They have a great chicken curry, and the fillet steaks are worth the money. The wine list is long, with lots of mid range priced good wines. Atmosphere wise, Eco's is a great place to bring friends or have a meal for two. It is always busy though, so book in advance.

I went here with my girlfriend after reading the great reviews here. And i have to say was slightly disapointed. I had satay chicken with noodles, which was lovely but nothing much nicer then a normal chinese. Booking is essential too.

Ate out here last week on a visit to Cork, on the advice of some Corkian friends. Was extremely impressed. We dined here on a Tuesday, and thankfully made a reservation, as the place was jam packed. The service was faultless, very professional and friendly, and the waitress was able to offer some great suggestions. The food was just wonderful. Full of flavour and every dish was a triumph. The desserts were outstanding, if anything the portions were on the large side! Overall, it was a great visit, and it even worked out at less than €35 per head. Excellent!

Eco Restaurant is my second home, fantastic food, lovely ambience, friendly professional staff. Their madras curry is to die for .. I usually would not eat curry in this type of restaurant but it is soooooo good. The stir fry is excellent too! Oh, and not forgetting the the chicken pavesse. The salmon is very, very tasty. Great wine list and the cherry on top .. it's reasonably cheap compared to other eateries in the area. The only down side is its a wee bit cramped and I do not like the room behind the reception area, slightly claustraphobic .. but it is well and truly worth a visit!!

The only thing nice about this restaurant it the how it looks from the outside. I do agree that the food is nice but that is it. Value for money isnt very good, the tables are too cramped to move, atmosphere mmm it is dark and thats about it, and service I didnt realise they had any..The waiters are unfriendly, chew gum all the time.

the food is fantastic the staff are nice, and the atmosphere is pretty good, my only complaint is that it is sooooo hot inside, i dont know if there is now air conditioning or what but every time i go its roasting, so much so that everyone at my table had to take breaks outside to cool off.

A great little restaurant. The food is excellent. The menu is large and varied. The desserts are a must have. All in all a great dining experience. However the only bad thing is that the restaurant is tiny and the tables are very close together so it is not ideal for a romantic dinner! But that would not stop me going back.

Went to Eco's for tea last week with my husband before an evening of Christmas Shopping. It had been a while since we had been here and while I remembered it being lovely I had forgotten exactly how amazing the food was. I had warm Salad and a gorg Madras and my husband had soup and cajun chicken served with pasta. The food was just incredible so simple but bursting with flavour. It is quite tight here and in a large group would probably be uncomfortable but for 2 or 4 it is perfect. We loved it and will definately come back to Eco's more often in future.

We love this restaurant and go here regularly. The food is always consistent and of high qualityand the staff are friendly and efficient. The wine list is quite extensive here, and is organised by region/Country is is easy to browse. A table for 2 is always great here, but the only downside is if you are dining in a group of more than 4....the restaurant is cosy and a little cramped, which does add to the atmosphere, but can lead to discomfort for odd sized groups. Advise booking well ahead of time and selecting your table (they have a floor plan on their website)

Can't beat this place for value. We had starters, main course, desserts and coffee for two. It cost just over €50! The mushrooms are superb! And as for the madras curry - half rice, half fries - delicious. Portion sizes are great as well. My wife's only complaint was that the food was too hot! I think most restaurants would take that as a compliment. We'll be back again and again.

The selection of food is good, they do cater for all tastes. The seating arrangement was fine, but it could use more lighting. The black pudding spaghetti is a must, which may sound odd, but turned out very interesting and tasty. Unfortunately they had run out of the day's special which was a roasted chicken breast with vegetable and ham stuffings by 2pm. |So i opted for a classic burger which was average, but the portion was huge. The girlfriend was slightly disappointed with the nut burger, but who orders a nut burger!!! I would visit ECO again, hopefully soon..

Has been a number of months since I ate here. It is a very cramped restaurant and prob due to the fact that they are so busy they do tend to hurry you on. I ordered Sirloin steak last time I was there and it came out twice overdone. However that aside the food is of good quality and the place is worth a visit.

Eco is a little gem of a restaurant, located in Douglas village, right next door to Barry's pub. Although the tables are very close together, this offers a good and varied menu. The kitchen in Eco can be seen from the restaurant - it is tiny! Having said this, the food, service and ambience are well worth it.

one of the best restaurants in Cork! The selection on the menu is great; food is fab & great value for money! I have being going there for years & once I had to wait for my table. While I was waiting we were offered a drink & the starters were not included on the bill! You can't ask for more! Would love to head there now for the chicken stir fry:)!!
