I can't fault the Strasbourg Goose on absolutely anything. The food is always absolutely superb! I fist discovered this restaurant in October 2011 and I have eaten there at least 8 times since then! They always do a 3 course menu for 20 euro! May I add that this menu also includes steaks! No extra supplement to pay either! The food is gorgeous and really nice sized portions too. May I recommend the flame grilled break with chicken liver pate! It is to die for!! I will continue going here often. The staff are also a pleasure to deal with

Very friendly staff, asked for table in the upper part upon reservation, they couldn't promise, but when we arrived they had a table there ready for us. Delicious food, nice portions. Early bird menu (wide variety of choices) valid whole evening. Had no trouble at all with speedy ordering, had plenty of time in between the courses. If you're in a hurry, then choose seating in the lower part of the restaurant. If you want to go here, you're advised to make a reservation, as it is very popular and easily fully booked.

I visited the Strasbourg Goose with my husband..we arrived early, around 6 and they told us they need the table by 7. We didn't had a problem with that but it is not a warm welcome when as soon as you enter they inform you you have to be fast on week day. The food was nice, the service was too fast...before we had finished they wanted to collect our plates...so overall a so and so atmosphere in a warm restaurant with nice food.

We arrived quite late as they were very busy and couldn't fit us in earlier. We had to ask for a drinks list which didn't include all of the wines available. The food was good but lacked a personal touch and the deserts left a lot to be desired. The toilets were the smallest I've ever seen. The service didn't strike me as being professional although they did make us feel welcome and get marks for effort. The wine list was very basic but excellent value as was the menu. I did feel a bit put out having to go somewhere else for coffee afterwards but would return for the value

I have visited this restaurant twice in a week, it was pure chance really second time as I wouldn't be in a rush to go back. For food and price overall this is a winner for main course. My duck was succulent and melt in the mouth, fish also gorgeous but veg portions minimal and starters lacked imagination. If your looking for finer dining details then you won't get them here. Décor is not a detail, toilets are tiny and etiquette does not win one over. Although the staff bend over backwards in one way(one waitress keeps touching your shoulder) they clear plates of main course before everyone is finished( anyone who has been taught fine dining knows that this is a big 'no-no') We ordered the steak and asked for well done but arrived rare to medium now the coffees turned out to be free as a courtesy because of this...but it will be caf coffees you will be getting ...no americanos here.I will not be returning although for a cheap fix and a really good main course it is not the world's worse.

I called up and spoke with the owner, he was very friendly and Professional.I had a good feeling about this Restaurant and I wasn't disappointed.I 'd go so far as to say it's probably one of the best Restaurants I've been to. The food was really good.My Fish was the best. I wish they had had the Bread and Butter Pudding. It is such good value and even the Wine is priced very fair. The staff are very friendly if a little quirky. I can't wait to go back to Cork and have another meal here.

Strasbourg Goose is excellent value for money at Euro 20.00 for a 3 course dinner menu, the chorizo sausage starter and fish cake starter were lovely, the Rib Eye Steak was stunning as was the Monkfish and the potato gratin were really good . The desserts were nice but nothing special. Coffee was topped up if required which is always a nice touch and especially for the price you are paying. Overall excellent value for money, very good food and great atmosphere with very friendly staff. Will be back!

This is one of the most reasonable restaurants I've ever been to, their 3 courses for €20 is fantastic value. We ate here over Valentines weekend and we expecting a reduced and limited menu, what was on offer couldn't have been further than this. They had a very varied and extensive specials menu on offer. For starters we had fish cakes and stuffed mushrooms. For mains we had lamb shanks and crusty topped hake. For desserts we had chocolate gateaux and pavlova. All of the above were absolutely gorgeous, we couldn't fault any of it. Wine list was a little limited but we couldn't complain about the prices which went from €13 - €19. We had the Chilean Merlot which accompanied the lamb quite well. The service was also great, food came at a nice pace and our waitress was extremely pleasant and helpful. We are definitely returning very soon.

On a visit to Cork recently we came across this lovely restaurant, they were doing an offer of 2 courses including a glass of wine for 20 Euro. We really enjoyed the meal and the restaurant was busy enough for a Sunday night. To start we had a delicious pasta special and the bruschetta for mains we had duck which was melt in the mouth and breast of chicken served with mushroom and tarragon sauce, both served with gratin potatoes and fresh vegetables. Thumbs up on every aspect of the meal food and service excellent. The meal came to 53 Euro plus tip including a few extra glasses of wine. I would highly recommend this restaurant; we will be back next time we are in Cork.

By far my favourite restaurant in Cork. I dine here regularly the food is fantastic and great value at only €20 for 3 courses. Usually have the sausage for starter and the steak for main course which is always fantastic really couldnt fault it! The two waitresses are lovely and so friendly! Love this place!

My mother, my boyfriend and I entered at around 7pm looking for a table without a reservation. They did their very best to accommodate us which was very kind as they were pretty much booked out. I had been there a few times before and found the 3 courses for €20 extremely good value. The food was gorgeous - especially the daub of beef and the special pork belly ribs starter. The only flaw that I could find with the food is that the portions are not very big, but for €20 I can't complain! The service was excellent and I would strongly recommend this little gem that I walked past so many times never realising what a lovely meal I could be having!

To tell you the truth, i'd passed this restaurant many many times and had not even noticed it. Whenever we're in town, we usually part in Paul Street and for a quick bite, eat in a near by Italian. But while out with people from work, one of them suggested here and i was like 'where'. So in we went and i was amazed at the choice and quality of food for just €20. I'm not saying that its the best meal out i've ever eaten, but i've been charged much more for alot worse. The atmosphere was really nice in there, the staff also very friendly and willing to make reccomendations if asked. I've since been back there for a quick bite with BF and was just as happy. Between the two visits, i've had bruschetta and homemade sausage for starters, the chicken and the catfish for main and sticky toffee pavalova for desert (thought that was particularly nice). I tried to book in here for my 30th but unfortunalty they already had 2 groups booked in that night but i'll definitly keep it in mind for future.

This place is a little gem. The €20 set menu is outstanding value for 3 courses, or 2 and a glass of wine. I had pate to start which came with gorgeous bread and a berry sauce. The whole thing was divine. My friend had crab cakes which were also delicious. We both had rib eye steak for our mains, with blue cheese, onion marmalade, and potato gratin. It was very good. I chose wine, my friend had a chocolate cake for dessert which came with a nice hot chocolate sauce. Excellent value, great food, and our server couldn't have been nicer. Will definitely return next time I am in Cork.

I went to this restuarant recently and they had the deal of 3 course meal for €20, whic I thought was very good value. The meal was fantastic. I order for starters the Mussels in White Wine Sauce, which were to die for. For the main I ordered the Breaded Goats Cheese served with Cherry Compot, Salad Mix and Potato Gratin. The Dish was gorgeous and the cheese was not too strona taste like many Goats cheese can be. A goos choice and I would recommend it to any cheese lovers. For dessert, I ordered the Banoffie Pie, which was light and refreshing and not too heavy. All meals in which I would recommend. The staff there were very frendly and the atmosphere was very relaxing and an enjoyable place to eat. Daytime or evening time. Plus the location is superb.

Went here for dinner on Sunday evening of the bank holiday weekend. They had a €20 menu, 3 courses or 2 courses and a glass of wine/beer. I had salmon gratin to start which was a smoked salmon with melted cheese. It was nice although the melted cheese made it very salty, perhaps a little too salty for me. I had fresh trout as my main with potato gratin and veg. This was simple yet lovely and it's a rare treat to get fresh trout. I had the glass of wine instead of dessert. Amazing value for money, it's a shame Dublin restaurants don't follow suit. I also like the idea of subsituting a course for a glass of wine or beer. I noticed a lot of restaurants in Cork do this. One note of caution, the toilets are tiny and it's a definite squeeze to get in and out of them.

Went to the Strasbourg Goose last night and was very impressed. Had a very tender steak served with mushrooms, onions and chips and it was excellent, very tender. My boyfriend had the pork in a cider sauce with vegetables and potato au gratin. The pork, again, was excellent and I highly recommend it. The vegetables were boring though, carrots and parsnips. For desert I had a banoffi and it was great. My boyfriend is coeliac and we were told anything on the menu can be made gluten free when in fact only a few dishes on the menu are gluten free. The only gluten free deserts were pavalova and ice cream. The staff were friendly and helpful and while the restaurant itself is quite spacious, the bathrooms are a joke! E20 for 3 courses was a fantastic price considering the quality of the food

Went there today with hubby & 2 friends. The food was good overall. 3 in our party had steak and were quite happy with their choice. I personally didn't think it was anything special, just OK. I had the fillet of pork and was VERY happy with it, it was super tender and the sauce was great, too. The tables are a bit on the small side and there isn't much space. Service wasn't very attentive but nice enough. The bathrooms are a big laugh, though. They are so incredibly narrow and small that two people in there at the same time would be impossible. Overall, good value at 20 Euro for the 3 course meal (for what you're getting in Cork nowadays).

2 visits here in the last 3 months, most recently on Womens Christmas with a couple of friends. Had the €20 special - 3 courses (or in my case, 2 courses and glass of wine as desserts aren't my thing really). Food was excellent this time - 1 of us had steak, 1 had sole and I had fillet of beef (which was a couple of euros extra but I could cut it like butter, it was so tender). Great service, waitress was very warm and informative. A previous visit wasn't so successful for my companion, I had wood pigeon which was different and good, but he had lamb which was practically inedible as it was all gristle - but lamb can be dodgy I suppose. I will be back though as I personally have never had a bad meal here. Great value.

i was recommended by a few friends to go to this restaurant. So we booked for 10 people. This place is the best in Cork for food, service and value. We all thought it was great and intend going back again for a reunion. The waitresses have a great sense of humour and really seem to enjoy their job and they couldnt have been more accommodating.

Great value. Went to the Strasbourg Goose for an early dinner and got excellent value at €20 for three courses. The restaurant was fairly empty, but had a good vibe and the waiting staff were very friendly and efficient. Starters were a bruchetta with tapenade, which was tasty, and the garlic mushrooms were ok. Each starter was served with a salad with an overpowering mustard salad dressing, and would have been better without it. Mains of a sirloin steak (with fries, mushrooms and onions), and a ribeye steak (with garlic potatoes and spinach) were both very good. Tasty and well cooked. Deserts were also good, a baileys cheesecake and banoffi pie hit the spot. Two glasses of house red (shiraz) went down well. €50 covered a good three course meal with two glasses of wine. Good food on the go.

I first went to this place last December and was satisfied if not impressed with my meal so as I was strolling Cork last Sunday for a place to eat with another friend I didn't hesitate a return visit, especially considering the special offer of €20 for a 3 course meal. What to say, the starter fetichini napoli wasn't that...It was sundried tomatoes mixed with green pesto and re-heated. The worst thing is that it was the highlight of the meal. For the main I had salmon that was baked in a banana leaf, the skin was removed prior to cooking and obviously caked with salt which transferred to the fish...all of it! I have never eaten anything like that in my life-It tasted of salt! The oven roasted vegetables weren't roasted it was just awful. The desert was botched-I left it on the table. The problem with the recession is that restaurants are struggling for business- a offer like this isn't unique but the meal that I got last Sunday shows that while they have the right idea business wise they do not have the rite idea with the food. Simple, fresh and affordable can be done for a healthy price- tag. The place was dead-it will continue like that until they realise the errors of there ways.

This restaurant is just fantastic. The food is fresh and tasted home cooked. The girls serving our table were lovely even though they were under pressure as it was a busy night. The sirloin steak was to die for and my partner said his fish was perfect and he is hard to please. The prices are very reasonable. There was a couple next to us and they said they have been travelling around Ireland for a month and this was the best restaurant they have eaten in. This restaurant I will hurry back to.

We stumbled on this restaurant on Good Friday night expecting nothing to be open. Turns out just about everywhere was but as luck would have it our first choice was a good one. The early bird ran all night and was great value. Starters of stuffed portobello mushroom (supposed to be pan-fried but seemed deep-fried) and bruschetta were quickly gobbled down. The bruschetta in particular tasted like a savoury mince pie...but in a really good way!! For main I went boring and opted for the burger and my partner went to the lamb hot pot. The hot pot was rich and hearty though my enormous burger was a little dry. Deserts of cheesecake and toffee meringue were fabulous. Service also was excellent, very attentive without being intrusive. Overall a decent restaurant and at €20 for 1 3 course meal, hard to fault.

I dined at Strasbourg Goose on a recommendation. Mmmmm not that impressed really. Service was good - the girls were pleasant and on the ball but the food was only ok. Pretty average - but im sorry the house wine by the glass was atrocious. I had to change my first glass for the second option - it was slightly better but I could not drink it. Unfortunately this was not picked up by my waitress and I was charged accordingly. The open fire was lovely although I must say when we were there -the lads from the kitchen were bringing out rubbish and kept leaving the door open - very cold breeze . Think ill skip Strasbourg Goose.

Have eaten here on a few occasions and each time it has been great. I have food allergies and am well looked after here, I know exactly what I can eat, and am offered a variety of options which is refreshing. The service is prompt and extremely efficient. The only thing that lacks is the atmosphere of the restaurant.

I've been to this restaurant three times, two work related retirement dinners (15) people and once with my girlfriend. I cant understand previous bad reviews, ok every restaurant has a bad day.. I always found the service to be excellent, this is not Mc Donalds and if you want freshly cooked food then you've got to wait. Twenty minutes was our waiting time for mains which for a large group is excellent. The waitresses are brilliant and cant do enough for you.The food was also very good. Its got a nice atmosphere and not too pricey. Well recommended.

Great place for a family lunch. I've been a few times, usually at lunchtime, and have always been impressed with the place. The staff are friendly, pleasant and prepared to make changes to items not even on the menu. The food is tasty, well prepared and nicely served. I'll continue to look forward to going back.

Absolutely apalling. Firstly staff were completely incompetent, every time a dish came from the kitchen they had to go back to the manager to ask which table each dish was for! My girlfriend and I ordered crab claws to share to start, but were informed that they were out- at five pm!! If they were that short of them why were they on the menu in the first place? We were offered a crab gratin in replacement which we accepted. This was a ridiculous dish- mashed potato and crab meat mixed together with a little cheese on top. It was very poor. Then main courses (which took forever to arrive). My steak was completely overdone and the bed of mashed potatoes that it arrived with was cold (but the accompanying dish of cubed potaotes was roasting hot). My girlfriend's sea bass was served on "ratatouille" but this was actually the same sauce that they serve with their ravioli (a mushy tomato-vegetable concotion-not very nice at all). To be fair, the manager apologised about my steak dish and I was not charged for it. It is obvious that this woman is doing her best with poor staff. Cannot see myself going back anytime soon.

Great food, but whatever you do don't sit near the door! Not bad value but slightly dear for what you get.
