date is wrong, i was there maybe 6 months ago. i have been there maybe 3 times, good enough food friendly staff but very expensive in my opinion for what you get. wine is also expensive there. also they are know to overbook and the last time i went i had to go to clancys for a pint and wait 30min when i was starving overall i would say its fair

I was very disappointed with Rossini's. I brought my boyfriend here on his first visit to Cork and would certainly not go back. We had a reservation but were left waiting by the door for nearly 20 minutes for a table, it was then another 10 minutes before we received menus and 40 before we received our meal! The waiter that we had did not speak English and we had to point to what we wanted on the menu. My boyfriend's food was cold when it came out but at this stage we felt there was no point in returning it. Very disappointing service

Eat here three times a week when in cork, love Italian love French , I don't review places unless they make a Mark, but Rossini is the best in the world ,real food I can see the Sistine chapel the ruins of Rome. I can't decide which is best between here and my other favourite. Both are best in ire lee and I give them both 5* . I cook a lot at home and eat out, a lot with my job, if you want real Italian dinne here. And on a weekend night feel the buss 5* in on Thursday and love that place for lunch on my own and dinner with others

I have been to Rossini's on several occassions, i love the atmosphere and relaxed dinning experience. We had a nice night however i fine the quality of food have gone down and too many people packed into the resturant at any one time. we had a booking and still had to wait for 30 mins standing by the door in a que. Because Rossini's is one of my favourate resturants in Cork i hope it will be better on my next visit.

Really disappointed with dinner here. A few main issues: - ordered 2 glasses of house white and they were served warm. Table next to us ordered bottle of white wine and theirs was also served warm. Waitress still poured but offered an ice bucket. - very expensive for what's on offer. Particularly the pasta, as most options were pretty standard. - waiter brought us receipt before we even had our dessert served. Felt rushed even though place was half empty. . I had bolognaise and it was just OK. A awful lot of bechamel sauce and cheese though and not much pasta or meat. Other guest had Carbonara which was tasty but was exceptionally rich, even for a carbonara. Tables were a bit crammed as well, even though there was plenty of room. Menu is extensive but there a lot of meals are fairly similar. Atmosphere is great though, good vibe, and the place looks great.

Party of 12 and we were looked after very well. There was an option of an early bird that some of the group went for, most people enjoyed it but some of them thought that there dishers were not great. Overall it was good, although most of the group found the alla carte menu to expensive for the choice available.

We arrived without a reservation and were seated immediately although we endured a significant wait to receive menus, we should have seen this as a sign of things to come. Our seats were at a table beside the door which was left open for the duration of our stay. I didn't have any elbow space as the table was wedged in beside a lampshade. When our salads finally arrived the leaves were brown and they were missing ingredients. This was followed by another wait for our main courses which arrived without any cutlery, leaving us a couple of minutes to admire our food which was of a good standard. We skipped deserts as we felt that we had spent enough time waiting and asked for coffees and the bill. These were the only items which were brought to us speedily. The money was collected equally as fast. The toilets were dimly lit and not the best and the wine list was very basic. The set menus do however offer good value in comparison to the standard menu however we won't be in a rush back.

Called in here for a quick bite with hubby about 6, they were so quick to seat us and put bread and anti pasti on the table while we perused the menus. There is an early bird from 530 to 8.30, and there are three menus to choose from with verying prices. Not particularly hungry I chose from the cheap €14.90 menu, caprese salad was fine the mozzerella was fab, there was green salda with and it wasn't dressed but he table had oil and balsamic, so i was very pleased. I chose a pizza, choice of four toppings, it was fine, a little chewy on the base but good and big! Hubby chose from the expensive menu €23.90, he stared with goats chees, there was three large piece breaded and deep fried, the portion itself was big enough for a main! He also chose steak, seein as i was the early bird and the staek on the ala carte was €21 we weren't expecting much..WOW, the thing was a whole cow, it was huge and chrred to perfection ( not the greatest steak but flavourful enough to ignore!) We had a bottle of the house red, Montepuliciano, it wasn't hectic but good value at €21, you can order a demi carafe also. The satff semmed a little overwhelmed at times and hard to get but.. busy!! The food was fine, and the price cannot be argued with nor the times for the the early bird. The only thing is the place is a little dated, i'd love if it was a little 'lighter and newer'?! if that is the only complaint... not bad!!!

I ate here with my boyfriend last week. We arrived without a reservation on a Saturday night but they were able to give us a table straight away. The set menus are pretty good value. I wanted a starter from one menu and a main from another and they were fine with me chopping and changing. Good, quick service too, even though the restaurant was packed.

We spent a long weekend in cork with another couple, so had a dinner in this restaurant on Saturday night. There are 3 set menus on differenct prices. We all had different dish and all are ok with their ones. The services are pretty good, attentive and not overly bothering, food was fine too. The whole atmosphere was definitely give that Italian feeling. So I would rate this restaurant a ok to go place. Not as bad as the reviews I read below.

Very poor. Ate here with the family over the Christmas holidays. We all had a mixure of cannelonis and lasagnes for main courses and I have to say it was probably the most bland pasta I have ever eaten. The dishes were very unappetizing and even worse you coudn't really differenciate which was which - as they all had the same flavourless taste, won't be back.

Really really disappointing. That's all I can say about this restaurant. I don't like to judge any restaurant by just one visit but after 4 visits in 3 years I can't believe that people in Cork are willing to accept long waits for average food expensively priced and with sloppy service. We went as a group that was booked in advance. Table was booked for 7:30 and by 11:15 we had to walk out without dessert or coffee as the service was too slow. I can only suggest that if your kitchen can't handle the volume then don't take the booking. You are only damaging your reputation by filling a restaurant with hungry people and not feeding them.

My husband and I had an ok meal here last Sunday evening soon after they opened, while athmosphere was quite good, special offer menu good value, pizza very good but to have to ask for the bill three times and then to be short changed just spoiled what could have been a very pleasent outing

A group of us went here (16 people), while my diner Lasagne was really nice, my hsuband got the steak and it was really small, he had to ask for Perpercorn Sauce 5times!! So overall the service needs to be improved. Out of our group 10 enjoyed it & 6 people didn't. House wine really nice. It was a bit pricey. However it was great the staff did not rush us, so we had another few drinks there. Id return but my husband would need to be persuaded

Went here for dinner and wasn't that impressed with the place. The food is only very average for an Italian restaurant and prices can be a bit pricey. The service however, was very good and our waiter was very friendly.

Was in Rossinis for a birthday recently and had a great night, the place was packed with a really buzzing atmosphere. Its slightly expensive in my opinion, but for the quality of food, its well worth the price tag. I have to give crdit to the staff, they were really great on the night and definitely earned their tip!

Group of us went on Saturday night, the place was packed and even though we had a booking we got the worst table and we were crammed in like sardines,my friend and I never got out mushroom risotto until the others were half way through their mains. Mushroom risotto finally arrived and tasted of fish!Wierd.Nothing was good, went there 7 years ago and it was they same story- thye are getting too greedy, taking too many bookings, they couldn't even get the coffee right, strongly advise against the place.

Had an excellent meal with herself in Rossinis, I had the fillet which was top notch, cooked exactly how I ordered. The better half had Fettucini with chicken and mushrooms that was gorgeous, we had a lovely bottle of red to go with the meal and was well impressed with everything. Will most definately be returning again soon.

My husband and i went for our anniversary. We were seated within 10 mins of arriving. There was a bottle of champagne brought over by 3 members of staff that congratulated us.The starters were out of this world. The salads were fresh and crisp. The sauces were home made and not out of a jar.The mains were outstanding. The pasta again was home made and cooked perfectly.Desert was to die for.The staff, atmosphere, food and value for money,if i could give them 10 stars i would. Can wait for my next visit.

A great buzzy atmosphere attracted us in to queue "not more than 10 mins" turned into 30mins but they kept refilling our glasses with Prosecco so we stayed and waited!! The food was good quality Italian with good sized portions. Great for a night out with something for everyone and friendly staff.

this place was recommended to me by so many people and i don't know why. when we sat at our table, the cultlery and glasses were dirty so we asked them to be changed and the waiter was so rude about it. the food wasn't great either. the pizza tasted like a frozen store-bought one and it was way over priced. the pasta was overdone and the sauce tasted like it came from a jar. i will definitely not be returning

How people flock to this place is beyond me! I'm sick of getting recommendations for this place. The food is average the prices are extraordinary! If i have a reservation made for 8 i dont want to be told to go and have a drink because my table isn't ready! They sat us upstairs, on our own! This place is yet another dissapointment in Cork. i have never returned and will never do so! Food was bland, setting was poor and all for €135! But the place will always be busy, people in Cork will never learn!

Just a disaster!! I don't know how people keep going there. Any time I ever have went e've had to wait for ages to be seated ven though we had bookings. The worst was when a group of 12 ofus had our booking made 2 weeks in advance and we were told our table wasn't ready...so we asked how long we'd be waiting and were told 10mins...so as it was December and freezing we asked could we wait insideand wer told no and to wait outside...we kept going back in asking how much longer and were eventually seated AN HOUR AND A HALF later!!! No apologies, nothing on the house. Even then our table was too small-only ror 10 people. The service was slow, the waiter forgetful, the food very average, prices were way too high, ran out of wine..... Was not worth the wait!!!

Went here with my parents on a Saturday early evening. The place was absolutely packed, and even though we had a booking, we had to wait for a table. We finally got a table, upstairs, in the corner, completely blocked in by other tables. I had to squeeze by & ask others to move to get to the bathroom. It took ages for our order to be taken, & ages again to get our food. When the food did come it was good, but it was difficult to enjoy it when the room was so packed, noisy and hot. They clearly took on far more bookings than they could handle. The whole experience would have been so much better had they taken less bookings.

Food was great, ordering a bailey's coffee is a different story. Other tables were getting bailey's coffees which was brought from Clancy's (the baileys), but we were told by our waitress that they only have the right to serve Italian alcohol..who knows... . Came back home, rang the restaurant, spoke to the manager (headwaiter) who promised us we would get a voucher in the post, took our contact details. This voucher is taking a long time to come, 3 weeks? maybe more? , especially that we only live 3 minutes walk from there. Anyway, we'll never get it I guess. They 'll never see us again, for sure.

I am amazed that this restaurant is constantly heaving. The food is hit and miss. Is it that people are fooled into thinking that nice setting equals good food. The last time I was there my party was brought upstairs. Even though we has specifically booked !! The toilet did not work upstairs so we had to go up and down steep and extremely slippy stairs throughout the meal just to go to the toilet. Food was average, no atmosphere upstairs. All in all an awful experience. And from what I saw from the other clients upstairs no one had a good word to say about the place. It is awful

I've been several times and only return each time for the quality food. Very fine food. Unfortunately the service and attitute is very poor. Please make sure you are not in a hurry. The wine sometimes is well chilled but more often its not and they quite often run out of ice and have to run over to the pub accross the road. Be careful when paying by cash as once I never received change and didn't have time to argue over the tenner that they kept as a tip without being offered as a tip...

This was my first visit to Rossini's. We had a 7pm booking, arrived about 6:50pm and were seated immediately. The choice on the menu was excellent. The garlic mushrooms were presented differently than many other places but were very nice. The Fettuccine al Salmone was also delicious as was the selection of icecream for desserts. Portions were large. The service was really slow and was the only off-putting aspect of the night. Would return but not before exploring other restaurants.

Ok Ive been here several times and the only reason I go back is because of the food. It really is great. But be warned the service is brutal and the waiting time very long make sure your not in a hurry. The wine sometimes is well chilled but more often its not and they quite often run out of ice and have to run over to the pub accross the road. One time i was a little peeved when they assumed that the change of over 10 euros was their tip when I never implied that. Food is really really great its just a great shame about the rest.

Despite the only okay service I think Rossini's is a fantastic restaurant and quite authentic as well. When the waiters do come to the table they are very friendly and helpful. I once had to wait for thirty minutes past our table booking but we were sent down the street to a pub - I wonder do they have shares! There is a large choice for each course. The menu has been the same for years now but I wouldn't change it. Best when the gentleman is there playing his melodies. If you are a group it's likely they will try to send you upstairs so request downstairs when booking. Upstairs is a different atmosphere entirely. I love Rossini's, I love the bread sticks and the candles, the presentation of the food, the desserts are delicious and I enjoy the occasional digestive shot. Excellent for a romantic night out. Leave the diet at the door the food is too good not to experience it all.

I have eaten here before and thought it was OK but decided to give it another go before commenting, however I will definitely not be returning. My husband and myself got in before the crowd started to gather around the front door on Saturday night. We were seated near this area and as a result were totally crowded throughout our entire meal as there were at least three couples standing over us for the entire time. We ordered Brushetta for starters, the smell and taste of garlic was so strong that my husband could not eat it, I’m very fond of garlic so offered to help him out but I too had to reject the dish as the bread was completely soggy under the tomatoes (yuck). I got Chicken Cacciatora for my main course, the portions are huge but is a bit pointless as the food is terrible. The flattened breast of chicken was flavourless with pieces of black all over it and was sitting on top of a tomato sauce which had the veg and potatoes floating in it. The Salmon dish was a bit better but after wading through the sauce to get to it the underneath and side of the fish were crispy and burnt. On the positive side the Décor is lovely if you are not near the door and the wine was very nice but pricey for what you get.

I really don't know where all these people writing negative reviews have been eating - I have been going to Rossini's for years and have never had a bad experience. I suppose if you are the sort of person who's offended by packets of butter in the bread basket or a waiter asking you to move a plate to make room for your next course, you must be pretty hard to please. What I love about Rossini's is that it's elegant without being stuffy or formal. I've brought visiting family and friends there and they have all raved about the food and the atmosphere. It is a little pricey and the service is only a little better than average, but the place is an oasis and the food is unbelievably good. The portions are huge too, so even though it isn't cheap, you're getting what you pay for. I love this place and would recommend it without hesitation.

Ok This place is the business for a nice romantic dinner and the food itself is very good I must say. My huge criticism is the service or lack of it. Its really bad perhaps they have the attitude that that Italians take there time well we are not in Italy. I also had one occasion where the waitress just assumed that the change of 11 euros was a tip she never came back and we were in such a hurry we didn't bother. Its also very hard to have wine well chilled mostly they have no ice. But I have to say the quality of the food is Brilliant its a pity about everything else. Go early and make sure your not in a hurry. Pay by credit card at least no one can rob your change

I was very disappointed. We had a birthday group of 11 people. We got our drinks and starters fine but then we were left for over an hour waiting for the main course which was barely mediocre when it did come out. They seemed to try and make up for the service and quality of food by giving out huge portions but it wasn't good enough at all. We were then left waiting over half an hour for the tea and coffee. Service was atrocious. I definitely will not be back here.

Like others we were left at the door, we had a reservation but weren't asked for our names so I assume it was all on a turn up and queue basis. The service was fine after we were seated. Starters were out a little too quickly to be freshly cooked and my garlic mushrooms were terrible. Mushrooms stuffed with breadcrumbs and all dried up. The salad was the same. It's the little things, bits of brown on the lettuce. My main course was fine. The pasta was fresh and cooked nicely but it was all only fine. Little things make a difference. Presentation was lacking. Two little packets of butter thrown onto a bread basket, two packets of bread sticks on the table just doesn't look nice. The restaurant itself is lovely. Lovely atmosphere but wouldn't be back.

I would have to concur with most of the reviews. The service is slow and sloppy. We had to ask for our starter and main course. v. average Italian food. I had the garlic mushrooms and the seafood pasta. Won't be back.

Went there last Saturday night for an 8pm booking, as we arrived there were about 6 to 8 people waiting inside the door and the same again outside, (thankfully it was dry). One girl rang the restaurant on her mobile to get the host to come out! We were eventually seated at about 8.40 at an upstairs table, while there was lovely guitar music downstairs, upstairs was a disaster, no music, noisy and 2 poor waitresses who were very nice but under severe pressure. Four times we had to ask for water!!! The food was quick enough arriving though and was good, although I had to wait about 5 mins for cutlery for my steak!!!! We couldn't be bothered to wait for coffee, it was just a really disappointing evening and we certainly won't be going back. The food isn't worth the feeling of been ripped off. They've certainly never heard of customer service!!!!

I went to this restaurant on the back of very good recommendations but found the quality of the food to be lacking...it was fine but I felt I was being taking for a ride in regards to the quality versus the price. I had steak and have tasted better elsewhere...I don't understand why this restaurant has a huge following when there are so many other restaurants out there achieving so much more for the same price.

After reading the other reviews, I was a bit wary of going for a meal here but I was not disappointed. I think the important thing is to book a table early; we booked ours for 7.45 and were seated straight away. There were people that came in about 8.30 and were waiting a while for a table. I ordered the bruchetta, it was delicious, and my boyfriend ordered steak for main course and adored it. The strawberry cheesecake is to die for!!!The atmosphere was lovely, especially when the live music started. The only thing is that is was a small bit cold as we were out the front. However, we enjoyed it immensely and will be back.

Food is good - not great. The biggest problem is service which is a joke - we were left waiting in doorway for 20 minutes and then sat upstairs by the door which was freezing. Steak ordered well done came out extremely rare - I ordered a beer and waited 25 mins before being given a bottle which was not opened and I was waiting another 10 mins before a waiter opened it - all in all a disaster. Will not be returning.

If I was starving I would never enter this place again. We had a booking for 8.30 and were left standing in the doorway until 9.45 to say the least we were not impressed but seeing as we were away for the wend and had eaten there before thought the meal would be worth the wait… oh my god how wrong were we. Our food was honestly terrible our Starter well you would get nicer in a fast food joint. Our main Course was brought out when our starter was still on the table and not only that but we were asked to move it for the waiter. The main course was just terrible it was steak that was meant to be rare but came out as if it had been in and oven all day pasta had been reheated and almost crisp. I spoke to the manager and he took our address and said he’d send on voucher; still haven’t received it and honestly I wouldn’t even give it to my worst enemy. I will never be going back there again.

We ate here last week because I hadn't been there for a couple of years since it didn't impress but decided to give it another chance. First off the host didn't give a very good impression, even though we had a reservation we were waiting about 20 minutes for a table, which I wouldn't have minded if he had just told us it'd be that long! He left us standing in the door way where we were totally in the way of people entering and exiting, and the staff trying to work. There was another couple ahead of us sitting in the only seat available for waiting diners and there was 2 other couples behind us also standing in the doorway by the time we got to sit at our table. The food was reasonable good, I had mussels to start and the portion was huge and it was a very tasty dish. My partner didn't like his main course too much, the sauce was a bit overpowering but there was plenty of seafood in it which was good. I had steak with gorgonzola sauce for main which was good, but the accompanying veg and potato's could have been a lot better. The wine was gorgeous though and our waiter was very friendly and efficient. All in all, I'm not sure if I would go back. I think our experience would have been a lot better if the host hadn't left us standing in the door for 20 minutes with no explanation!

The last time I ate there I had to wait for 15 mins despite having booked a table in advance. As well as that I had specifically asked if they served something suitable for a 3 year old child and was assured they did have nuggets and chips etc only to find that they had nothing of the sort not even the basic French fries. Our meal was totally overrated, good steak but awful soggy wedges/sautéed potato (don’t know what it was supposed to be to this day) and a miniscule vegetable portion. Will not go again

The food here is great, the problem is and always has been getting in the door even if you have a reservation. They need to have a full time host at the door rather than sending you across the way for a drink even if you have booked.

Went here for my daughters birthday. We had a great night and the atmosphere was great. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The music was very nice and added to the atmosphere. We loved it, and will certainly be back again soon.

Went for birthday as heard brill things but was very disappointed...now I know they were busy but had our table booked, had to wait 15 mins and were given a make shift table in the middle of the aisle with waiters whizzing past. Food didn't make up for this either as my lasagne looked and tasted like it was just heated up. I can't stop thinking somehow if we were an older, posher looking couple would we have gotten the treatment others seemed to be getting??? Just a pity that we wasted our hard earned money in this place.

Canneloni was sublime, absolutely could not fault the food! Service was brilliant, with the waiters attentive but not so much that they were interrupting & atmosphere was great, really relaxed. Have been several times and every time I come away wishing I could eat there every night! Only downside is they have shoehorned in too many tables & need to expand. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Totally overrated. Packed in, very poor service as under staffed and over booked. Food only average nothing special. Would be no hurry to go there.
