Unfortunately my visit to Proby's ruined the evening for my dinner partner and I. The service was shoddy and lacking any efficiency. Two people ended up covering our table, messing up our orders twice. I was served a starter I didn't order, while my date got the mushrooms with garlic bread. This was nice, but nothing special. For mains, I ordered swordfish and crab toes with a side salad. My fish arrived first, followed a few minutes later by my partner's pasta dish, and no sign of the salad or even of any waiter or waitress. It was fifteen minutes before we could get the attention of the staff to actually correct their mistake. I was given a healthy serving of swordfish, which didn't matter since it was in a bland, tasteless cream sauce. The best thing about the dish was the crab toe garnish which was rather tasty. The pasta dish was overcooked and but the tomato sauce with it was nice. All in all, a very disappointing visit. (Also note that the menu online is not the menu in the restaurant, which is considerably less interesting).

I was down from Kilkenny for the weekend with a group of friends, we had made reservations at Probys the food was absolutely fantastic I had steak which was stuffed with prawns it was absolutely delicious. The staff in this restaurant were very kind and extremely helpful I was also pleasantly surprised by the bill!!! Food and staff of this quality are hard to come by and I will definitely be back on my next visit to cork. I would highly recommend this restaurant

This restaurant has it all, a great atmosphere, excellent food - good staff and as they say location,location,location. We have been regulars at Probys for the past two month as we enjoy the variety of their menu. They have a great selection of drinks too, wine--beer--spirits--cocktails, plenty to choose from. The Steak dishes are my favorite and I have nearly tried them all, they had a special last week called a Steak Fontaine and it was one of the best dishes I ever had - it was a fillet steak stuffed with tiger prawns and topped with sea scallops with a sauce to die for. My husband had the fish special Red Snapper, he loved it Probys will surprise you time and time again, it has to be one of the best restaurants around at the moment.

I was really impressed with this restaurant. The food was excellent, I had swordfish and it was lovely and my partner had the t-bone steak which was delicious. The baileys cheesecake was only ok, seemed to have been defrosted but the champagne sorbet was so nice. It was very reasonable, the waiter was really friendly and the food was gorgeous. I´ll definitely go back.

not my cup of tea, the price is ok but then is it for what u get used to go here alot more but it seems to have changed owners need to improve new people

I’ve been to both Probys since the new crowd took it over, lunch in town & dinner in Douglas. Services was bad in town, ok in Douglas. But the food I could only play with, push it around the plate, very bad.

Little gem of a restaurant, made reservation last minute on a Saturday night for 7 people, everything was excellent had the baked mussels for starter and the trio of fish for main and both were exceptional, everyone in the party loved their food - would definitely come again and would recommend it to anyone.

Probys Bistro has to be our favourite restaurant, great food, nice service. Probys must have the best smoking room in all of cork as well. The food I would recommend, the steaks and fish are beautiful... A great experience and I have just found out that Probys have opened a second restaurant in Douglas... cant wait to visit it.

Delicious Food, very good value, great staff and good atmosphere. Great selections of beers, wine and cocktails. Real fun restaurant.
