We go here every month, eat in or take out. My fav restaurant. Amazing food. Huge portion, main course is really meant for two. Great value. I've tried all the dishes now over the years. Favs are BBQ spare ribs (nicest gravy sauce), hot & sour soup, Meat Sung and Steak (huge one on a hot plate). I've recongmend this place to many of my friends and they all love it. The decor is old fashion but yet again this restaurant has been opened over 20 years, the food will set the mood for ya.

I have been going here for years and also get take away from here. It has by far the best curry around. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is good. I would tell anyone looking for good chinese food to come here, the food really is great.

going there since i was a child and its always nice. staff a very friendly and menu is like any their chinise restaurant in Ireland. potions are large considering the price and value for money I believe. the atmosphere is a bit dated, the chairs comfy but been there since i can remember with chinise pop music playing in the backround. however saying this it would not be the pearl river if they changed the way the restaurant looks. go there if you want a good chinise which is good value and nice pleasant service.

Went with some friends - the service for the lot of us was great, but I can't say the food was very good. Found some of it very dry, and a bit cold, and it wasn't just me who thought that. There are a few other Chinese restaurants in the location that are a bit better. Not great value for money

The Portions are massive, i had a curry that literally came out in a barell. While my main was very good, my friends complained about there's being horrible. My starter was like crunching on charcoal. It even seemed to appear before i'd even finished telling the waitress my order. I would not go back.

Great chinese restaurant that offers both eat in and take away. Portion sizes are excellent for the price you pay and tastes great! Will definately be returning here!

Expensive for what you get. I got a chicken curry and it was something like 17 euro. the portions are big but i didnt see it worth 17 euro. The curry also had kind of a tomato taste to it, which i dont really like in a curry. Service was ok. But we were the only people in the restaurant, so atmosphere wasnt great. I wouldnt go back as there are better chinese's in cork. ones you can pay less for same food or ones you can pay the same for much much better stuff.

Good portions and good variety of food Serves up an array of standard chinese dishes at an affordable price range. Authentic enough. Good kung po dishes. Value for money!

Nicest Chinese in Cork by far, you know what you are getting in your food for your money unlike some other Chinese restaurants I could name. The seating is fairly private and the place is nicely decorated. Menu has a great selection and the staff are always friendly, nice atmosphere too and I don't find it expensive at all. I don't know what hole all the people who said it was expensive crawled out of but I think the restaurant is very reasonably priced

This is your average run of the mill bog standard Chinese. Its about as far from fine dining as you'll get. The decor and delf are dated. The food is fairly average and just about worth what you pay. Wouldn't return as there are far nicer Chinese restaurants about.

They say you get what you pay for and that is cerainly true. The restaurant is quiet and out of the way, ensuring that you meal is shared with your party and not with the three or four parties surrounding you. People have complained about the atmosphere but i find it soothing and enjoyable for a family meal out. I'd advise everyone to try the hong kong style fillet steak. Expensive but worth every single penny. As are the currys which are a step above a lot of chinese restaurants in cork.

I recently ordered a take away from Pearl River and it was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Firstly the food was wrong as I did not receive what I had ordered, and the man who took the order was very abrupt and ignorant on the phone. Secondly the price is a total rip off i paid €10 for takeaway bbq ribs and one spring roll €7.50 which is almost double what you would normally pay in a decent Chinese restaurant. All the food was so burned it could not be eaten, also I ordered a can of coke and I was charged €1.40 which clearly had part of a multi pack not to be sold separately. I Have never experienced such a disaster in all my life. It cost us nearly €60 for 2 people for a takeaway lunch. Their prices on the Internet are so wrong and are very misleading. If you ask me from the food right down to the service was just so bad. I rang to complain but he insisted that they were different from everyone else in cork and because of this he had the right to charge whatever he liked.

We chose Pearl River for my husband's birthday and arrived in the late afternoon. For the fuss I've read in other reviews regarding the decor, I thought it was a cozy space, with warm colors and lots of live plants throughout. The service was prompt and very friendly. The lunch menu was very small, with few selections, so we chose to order from the dinner menu instead, which featured a much larger selection. I ordered the Vegetable Chow Mien and my husband ordered the Chicken Curry. The prices on the menu at the restaurant are a fair bit higher than those listed on these pages, which was an unwelcome surprise. Our food arrived amazingly fast and was presented well. The vegetables in my Chow Mien were fresh and cooked perfectly; I enjoyed the dish. My husband would not order the Chicken Curry again - he said that it was palatable, but underwhelming. Overall, we felt the food, service, and ambiance were good, but not deserving of the expense, and it's not likely that we would return soon.

The decor was very dated and cheap looking. The food was nice, one of the top Chineses in Cork but would probably prefer if they were a takeaway.

Came here for Sunday lunch with my mother and daughter we were not that hungry and the portions looked big so we got just one dish and one appetizer between us, we got beef satay which was delicious and more than enough - it came out sizzling, which I love - only complaint was that the rice was cold, it seemed a little over priced for one dish €15 for the beef satay (not even fillet) but certainly filled all of us with some leftover so food was good but restaurant could certainly use updating.

If you like big, juicy steaks, the Pearl River cannot be beaten. Comes on a sizzling platter covered with onions and mushrooms. Gorgeous!

Without a doubt, the best Chinese in Cork! I get it about once a week, normally take away to be fair, but I have eaten in there. The chicken balls are great, so is the chicken curry, beef curry and spare ribs. I absolutely love this Chinese and would recommend it in a shot.
