Booked an early bird menu for a friday night, as was to be elsewhere later, on the face of it, the value fro the Early Bird was excellent, three course for 16.50 Euro. As table was booked we were seated straight away and ordered a beer, for first course I ordered Spare Ribs, and that was what I got, just about, had one rib fallen off the plate, I would have had Spare Rib, that's right Two ribs were the starter.. For main I had the Duck roast pot, the meal itself was ok, a bit better than your usual chinese, but again the portion size left a lot to desired, (there was a 3 euro supplement for duck). the last course was Tea/coffee. My biggest complaint was, while the service was prompt and friendly, I prefer to order another drink when I'm ready , not be asked if I want another one. All in all the food was ok but sparse, and it brings in the old adage. "You get what you pay for"

arrived on a wet day......, was kept waiting by the waiter to be seated for 15 minutes brought to my table in an empty room. ( one would wonder why i was waiting so long) menu arrived but was just a piece of paper not very suited to the restaurant. i had duck it was dry even though there was plenty of sauce. big plate with dry food not very attractive or tasty. could not wait to leave. I did complain but the person on the till was more interested in fixing there hair than listening to my complaint

I actually went to Panda Mama for an early dinner with my sister on Valentines day of all days! The service was great, we had a lovely waitress who was really informative. I had the peanut satay, which I havent had in a Chinese for years - it was excellent! Would totally return just for that meal! We were given little pandas on the table which we got to take home with us aswell which was cute, it is currently sitting in our hallway!

Okay, I had previously had takeaway from Panda Mama and had noted that the food was not the greatest, didn't really enjoy it; but was in town this evening for a meal with my partner, and decided I would give the restaurant the benefit of doubt, and give it one more chance to have a sit down meal in. The restaurant is talked about so much, everybody knows Panda Mama, it has also done a lot in regards to advertising media since its opening. As stated by most reviews of this restaurant, the décor of the restaurant is magnificant. It's spacious, comfortable and vibrant but authentically chinese. We were seated quickly, even though it was very busy and to add to this it was a Saturday evening and we were without a reservation but the staff were very quick to accomodate and find us a table within a few minutes. Staff were very quick and attentive in bringing us the menu and taking our order. As you may or may not know, Panda Mama offer a very reasonable and good Early Bird Menu, €19.00 for 4 courses (Starter, Main Course, Dessert and Tea or Coffee). Food arrived quickly and the main also arrived quite fast after the starters. The food however has a downside in the restaurant, as with the takeaway that I had got from Panda Mama soon after it originally opened, was bland, plain and just boring. I had the szechuan chicken with Chips and Fried Rice. It seemed like it was just covered in chillies to make the meal more flavoursome, but even the chillies couldnt mask the plain taste of the meal. The only thing that was really enjoyable about the meal was the starters and dessert, to which we just had an ice cream bowl. I dont think however I would be returning to Panda Mama's in the near future. Although the price and service is great, the food really does let this place down big time. - Patrick

For some reason I seem to only be able to rate this based on atmosphere. The atmosphere was wonderful, but the wonderfulness ended there. We received a gift certificate, which we used to purchase the early bird 4 course meal for each of our party of three. The service was prompt, but curt and unfriendly. The food was served quickly, but was over-priced and uninspired for the €19.99 per person charge. For that price, I'd think someone would have checked in at our table at least once to make sure all was well with the meal, but none did. After hearing so many raves about the place, we were all pretty disappointed. I would not recommend Panda Mama.

Dropped by this place for a quick lunch. Good value lunch deal, main course for about 8 euros. Had pork ribs for starter, succulent and tasty, decent portion as well. Had vegetables with tofu for main, huge portion and tasted just ok, not seasoned well enough for me. Good service.

I went hear for dinner I got the chicken curry it was so wonderful but you recieve very small portions but in saying that it is a very cheap restaurant! I found the staff not very welcoming and also they were a bit lazy! I had to ask for some water and when I got it it came in a tiny glass! Not the best restaurant but It is still a nice place to go for something to eat!

was here with 2 friends, heard so much about the place, went for the early bird menu which was very good value for 19 euros, the only thing i would say the portions were a little small, but over all the food was great and the service was very fast and no rushing you out the door.

Ate here as a last minute choice last Friday night with my partner after hearing so much about it. The decor the begin with is fantastic! Every detail is perfect and the place looks fab. We both only got a curry each as we were going to the cinema afterwards, but they were both delicious, and we got free prawn crackers to start with which is always a plus. The staff were super-friendy and pleasant, and the place was full of people which is always a good sign. Would recommend Panda Mama to any one in the mood for a good chinese!

great food and very sensibly priced, as mentioned in other reviews, we were witness another group falling victim to not reading the small print on the menu and resulting in a far more expensive bill, with not very forgiving staff when it comes to taking money, So buyer beware, and after that great spot overall..

We went in - the staff was very friendly and helpful. It is a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. We had the Early Bird, which was good value. The food was very nice, there was a great choice but a little more choice with the dessert would be good. But the icecream was nice after the meal. We enjoyed our meal very much. Last point the ladies bathroom was very clean and fresh. We will be going back to try something different. Great

We had lunch here as a large group. The service was very friendly, helpful & courteous. Beautiful surroundings, nice atmosphere. The toilets were nicely decorated & spotlessly clean. The food was fine, but there were no vegetables with some of the dishes & this was not made clear on the menu. Very good value for what you got. We would most certainly go back.

Went here for my g'friends b'day. I thought the place on first impressions was very original in it's style and, as is always welcome, we were met with a friendly smile. Athmos' wa grand, not too loud not to quiet. There were a few families there making use of the cheap prices no doubt but don't let this put you off if your are not a family person as the food more than makes up for it. Service was spot on. We were never rushed, food was excellent, loved the marble tables and it's very reasonably price wise. Def recommend it.

Went to Panda Mama while I was on a weekend in cork with my partner. We decided to go there after looking at the reviews on here. It was hard to find for us as we are not aware of street names in cork. When we found it we were seated it was very busy. We got given our menu's and saw the early bird but we were 20 minutes late and they would not let us order from this menu. That was an instant turn off for us because most places will let you order from it with the recession times..... We ordered from the evening menu and were not dissapointed with what we got. The food was beautiful but was a bit expensive so try make the early bird...................

The service here was pretty pathetic, even though the place wasn't at all busy. The food I also found was very expensive for Chinese food, but on the plus side the presentation of the food was very nice and the food itself was delicious. Not too sure if I would go back here...

Yet another birthday in the house and the birthday girl picked Panda Mama. I had heard good and bad reviews. The restaurant is quite big and was quite busy for a Tuesday night, I did not really like the ornate decoration. We went for the early bird, 4 courses for 19 euro, very good value. My partner had no complaint, son not that happy with choice, it was crispy chicken, it was a bit tough. I had spare ribs to start, nice. Then i had Szechuan Prawn, I love this usually and I know that it can vary but this one was very hot but not spicy, missing flavour. I had pineapple fritter for dessert, the batter was nice but the pineapple was tough and tasteless. We enjoyed the evening, wine was very nice. I will probably return. 3 birthdays down, 2 to come this year.

I went to Panda Mamas on a few occasions. Four of us went for the lunch menu and it was very reasonable and the food was lovely. The service was quick and the food was hot. We all ordered something different and each dish was delicious. On the second visit we had a college party and with 20 people. They served us quickly, the food was delicious and it was very good value. I will visit again.

Went with my wife and child for lunch. Waiters had people waiting in reception area for about a minute or two which gave an impression of of a very upmarket restaurant. Anyways, starters were greasy and I have a very high tolerence of deep fried food... main courses were just piled on a plate and my main course arrived approx 10 mins after my wifes. Taste wise, main courses were ok.. will I be going back, definately not. Very average chinese restaurant.

I have been to Panda Mama a number of times and it has always been a delightful experience. I usually go for the luch menu which is very reasonable. The atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely also sometimes you forget that you are in the middle of Cork City. Staff and service top notch. Will visit again soon.

Lively atmosphere, extremely busy on the Sat evening we dined in Panda Mamas. The food was excellent, very generous portions, served piping hot, each dish with its own distinct flavour. The service was very good at the beginning but a little slow towards the end of the meal, however I would not complain about this as the lovely food and the superb value for money €19 for a four course meal compensated. I look forward to returning to Panda Mamas!

My friend and went to Panda Mama last month and im my opinion t thought it was shocking.. The service was bad and the food was awful. The look of the place can be very decieving because when you walk in there you expect the food to be authentic. We both had the duck salad starter and it tasted like it was in the fridge prepared hours earlier. I had the chicken curry and it tasted the same to any chinese from Dublin to Kerry,We waited for 45mins to get dessert while constantly trying to get the attention of the waitress. Overall i will never go back there.

My girl friends and I visited this restaurant for a good meal, a few glasses of wine and a good chin wag!! We treated ourselves (all 7 of us) to all courses. We were not disappointed! There was great choices on the menu which had something for everyone. The food was very well presented with very friendly staff to look after us and was indeed delicious!!! The staff were fast friendly and efficient but didn't get in the way of our vigorous banter which was perfect. All 7 of us enjoyed the night immensely and vowed to visited again in the near future!!

Four of us (two couples) visited here on a Sunday night recently. We were surprised at how big the restaurant was when we got inside. The decor was very warm and inviting. We were seated to a table straight away and the servers from start to finish were very efficient and pleasant. I find this always helps greatly to my overall impression of a restaurant! We all had starters, main courses and desserts. We shared an aromatic duck between us and we had more than enough. The only negative I had was that the dish my boyfriend and I ordered was very very spicy and we usually have this dish so we thought we knew what to expect! However, once we got over the initial spice - the dishes were very tasty and once again we had plenty of everything. I would highly recommend Panda Mama to anyone who likes Chinese food.

My daughter and myself went to this Restaurant for the first time. The decor is fantastic. It looks so clean. We ordered chicken curry and rice which was very tasty and nice. Brilliant value for money. Must be the cheapest chinese restaurant in Cork. Found the place very comfortable. The only thing I did not like about the place was when we got our meal, we just got a glass of water each and I found when I wanted more, I had to go to the counter and ask for it. The waitress was not very friendly.

My partner and I had dinner here on 19th March. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and as you would expect from an Asian restaurant spotlessly clean. I particularly liked the fact that the tables weren't covered in cheap table cloths but a lovely marble top. Staff were fast, efficent and extremely friendly ...that is the asian staff...Irish staff that we saw were dour looking. food was extremely tasty and enjoyable as was the presentation..really couldn't fault the overall experience...I think the starters/appertisers were just about right as a lead in to the meal ..not too small or big..overall top class really, for value for money, surroundings and service.

The food here is lovely and typical of what you'd expect from a low-priced Chinese. I got chicken curry, which was gorgeous. The main pull-factor of this restaurant is the price- very good value for money.

Had early bird special, which is great value for 4 courses. Had spare ribs for starters and i found they gave you very little on the plate. But these were nice. They do provide prawn crackers for free, before your food arrives, which is a nice touch as some places dont do this. Currys were only ok. The sauces are nice, but the meat isnt the best. The chicken was kind of soft, and my friend described his beef as like "hard jelly"... Desserts were icecream, and pineapple fritter. Not much icecream given really and it wasnt that nice. Pineapple fritter was enjoyed. Service wasnt great. We waited a long time for our main courses to be taken from our table, and for our dessert order to be taken from us. Atmospehere was nice in there..

Fantastic Food. Had Crispy Chilli beef it was amazing. Great value for money. Portions were very generous. Good atmosphere only downfall i found was that we were very near people on either side of us and we were hoping for a cosy romantic meal maybe a weeknite would be better as it would be quieter.

Probably the best decorated chinese restaurant that I have ever been in, the oreintal atmosphere was so lovely. Tables were huge and had loads of room.....it was great. Atmospeher was great. Service was very fast but staff didnt appear to be very friendly but this may have been becasue they were busy. Portions of food were also really large. The dish I choose lacked some flavour but my partners dish was lovely. Would def reccommend trying this restaurant

Went again and this time had take away which is surprisingly good value in comparison to the sit down menu. The main courses are only 6euros and rice is 1.50 or you can make it yourself at home which we did.. we had sweet and sour chicken and the satay. The quality of the food was good, but not outstanding again... Very much batter on the chicken in the sweet and sour and the sauce tasted really as if bought ready made from tescos... But for the price it was alright.

Third visit but still the same fantastic food. This is how Chinese dining should be. The choices while varied were kept to the minimum not like other establishments-a menu as big as The Bible! Are we going back? DIFINITELY. I had chicken satay and my wife had spicey chicken, we shared the tasting stater, which nearly a meal in itself. Location is central in Cork City and prices are very reasonable.

We ate here a few weeks back and went for the early bird option. There was a fantastic choice to be had. The restaurant itself is really nice with big marble tables and lovely decor. The food was really nice and made all the better that it was just €19 pp. The restaurant was very busy around the evening early bird and there was a good atmosphere. The staff were very nice. We will be returning.

Went there for my parteners birthday and found the atsmosphere fantastic. The decor is very well done, it was very busy when we arrived and did not have to wait too long for our table. The food was amazing i got the salt & peppercorn prawns and they were cooked to perfection while my partner had the chinken curry main course and there was no shortage of chicken and it was very tender and would melt in your mouth. The only bad thing i can say about it is that the desserts were very dissapointing as they are all pre-made and served straight from the freezer. I had cheesecake wich tasted noting like a normal one, more like a bad moouse which was still partly frozen in the middle, while she had the black forest gateaux which had no cherries or even a close resemblence of cherries. In saying that i will go back there as the service and food (ex. desserts) were overall very good.

went for early bird. much of a choice if u want to spend eur19, nice duck salad as a starter and chicken rolls. I loved my Sechuan vegetarian noodles - nice and spicy but if u order noodels with sweet crispy chicken not much vegetables land on ur plate. pity... the place was hectic and we have to wait for a while to get desert menu that is unfortunately not very impressive for d bird one. Service very friendly. def go before 7!!!!

Ok but overhyped. I decided to try this newcomer to the Cork restaurant scene after hearing a few mixed reviews about it. A friend & I opted for the early bird 4 course 5-7PM €19PP. It was nice to get complementary prawn crackers as an appetiser. For starters I ordered the barbequed spare ribs which were quite tasty, we had to ask for a finger bowl though. For main course I ordered the honey roasted char-sui which I've had before & is a speciality. I was irritated to discover that no vegetables come with the main courses unless you order an extra side dish of stif fried mixed vegetables €4.50. I found this to be a bit mean and also you have to pay extra for your rice or chips. We found service to be fine except I had to ask twice for chopsticks and rice bowl for my main course. Overall it was ok, I wouldnt be rushing back as there are better Chinese restaurants in the city and county.

Went for late lunch and took the early bird menu. The outside of the restaurant isn't spectacular, but the decor on the inside is very well done. It was a bit quiet given the time of day, but smelled delicious as we walked in to a warm welcome. The staff were really friendly and efficient - the food came out quickly but seemed cooked to order nonetheless. A nice touch was a serving of prawn crackers placed on the table to share while we perused the menu and awaited the starters. These prawn crakers seemed the real deal - not the greasy tasteless ones you get at most Chinese Takeaways. One of the nicest Chinese meals I've had in Cork, starters of duck salad and wontons were tasty as were the mains of Mongolian beef - pretty spicy! - and the salt & pepper prawns - very light coating of batter so main taste was prawn. Dessert choices are limited but they were a good surprise, and also freshly cooked. They seem to be making a big effort as a new restaurant and if they keep this standard I'll definitely be back.

Really cool place, 4 of us went in for dinner last weekend and were all reallly impressed. Love the interior, I dont know what the last comment was about with the unfriendly staff, they were all great when we were there. We had the mixed starter which was a great way of getting a small sample of lots of different dishes and I had the beef in black bean which was delish! Will be back

4 of us from work went for dinner and were in time for the earlybird for just €17.95 which was fantastic value. We were all very please with the various dishes we ordered, everything was so fresh and very tasty. The house red was also very good. The restaurant layout is generous, plenty of room between tables and the decor was very oriental and equally very comfortable. All the staff were very attentive and obliging. This will become a regular place to eat and by the constant flow of diners, others think the same too!
