I recently visted this restaurant with my wife for a special occasion. For starters my wife ordered the black pudding and I had the scallops both of which were excellent. For mains I had the pheasant and my other half had the duck, both of which were very overdone and a bit tough which really spoiled what would have otherwise been very nice dishes and being typical Irish we didn't want to make a fuss by sending them back. I had the cheesecake for dessert and it was very nice, my wife had the Sea Salt And Caramel Parfait which she didn't enjoy but I think that was down to personal taste. The setting is nice and the service was excellent, I especially like that the waiter suggests wine to accompany the meals. Overall I would visit this restaurant again, but I would question how the meat is going to be cooked in advance.

We have been visiting the Hayfield Manor for 7 years now and the food used to be second to none, however, in recent times this has changed. We decided to give it another chance but, unfortunately, our opinion has not changed. Apart from the food which was awful they charged a supplement for the cheese plate on top of the Euro 65 for the meal. The only part of the meal which was enjoyable was the desert - so it was an expensive desert! We will not be dining in either the Orchids or Perrotts restaurant if/when we return to Hayfield.

The food here is simply unique. Looking at the menu you could mistakenly believe the dishes are similar to what you may have had elsewhere until they arrive. They are created and presented in a manner unlike no other. Although this does not mean they taste better, it definitely makes for an interesting evening. The service is incredible, although possibly too invasive for those who like to be left alone while dining. The tables for 2 are huge which makes for a very comfortable dining experience. Be prepared to spend good deal of money - while the set menu is good value for the standard of food, wine and drinks are very expensive.
