We enjoyed a very relaxing family lunch in Luigi Malones last Sunday. The staff were helpful and cheerful. The menu is greatly varied! One can choose from pizza, steak, fajitas, burgers, pastas, scrumptious chicken wings and much more at a very kind price to the wallet! Our varied taste buds were well catered for. We will visit again. The special offer menu is worth asking for.

We got a warm welcome. The staff and the atmosphere is very good. We had the early bird. it was great value & choice. The food is well cooked and is presented very nice. The food is amazing. It was an enjoyable experience - It is a calm place and you don't get the feeling that you have to rush your meal. Overall it is a great place to eat and to relax. We will be going back again. Great *****

Met friends for a late lunch. Service was very slow even though they seemed to have lots of staff. Had ribs which were only ok. Good cocktails though. Would return but not for the food.

Went into Luigi's late Sunday afternoon for lunch. Good atmosphere & friendly staff. We ordered the baby back ribs & a cheesburger. Food was delicious. We then shared a scrumptious toblerone cheesecake. Great value for money, service was quick & pleasant - definitely will be going back.

I had an occasion to have a quick lunch with my friend here mid week. Although there was two staff talking to each other(one looked like the supervisor )on hand they did not attend to me or escort me to a table so I took my own.It took a while for attention although it was quiet.I ordered the special panini/ toasted sandwich special which came with fries and a mineral for €9.99. The best thing about it was the fries, the panini tasted reheated and dry, although it sounds like a good lunch deal the quality is just not there for it to be good value. The service was poor and disingenuous from the male staff, there was a female waitress that served us our coffees and we left a tip just for her because she seemed to care. I will not be returning for lunch, may give dinner a go but reluctant because of service, it is a handy venue for opera house gigs I suppose.

Had late lunch here as i left my car in town last night, week day lunch is reasonably priced here off the special set menus but only main menu on offer at the week ends it seems. there is a wide selection but i think a little over priced for the quality of the food, the best thing is the service, very efficient

Ate here last night on the spur of the moment. Havent been in quite a while. I remember now. The food for what it is is over priced. €7.95 for chicken wings for starters and €20 for fajitas. The food is nice- Not exceptional. It would suit big groups as the menu is varied and the staff are extremely good at dealing with large tables. The wine is beyond overpriced. It was a Tuesday so I am not expecting there to have been a great amount of atmosphere or anything(there wasnt). The best thing about the place last night was the staff. I found them efficent and friendly- I would go more often if they reduced the priced- For those prices there are much better places to dine in Cork.

It's easy to see why Luigi's is as popular as ever. Dined here with a large group for dinner and there was a good buzz. Luigi's is well able to cater for large parties with a wide and reasonably priced menu to suit every taste and an ability to served everyone together.

Hi, Came here with my partner for our Valentine's meal and we both ordered from the set menu. Starters: I got the potato and leek soup. It was delicious and piping hot but the one thing I would add is that it came as is and without any bread etc which I thought a bit odd. My partner got the Chicken wings and thought they were lovely. Mains: We both got the steak and we were well impressed. It was a big portion of good meat and you also got to choose whether you wanted skinny or chunky chips etc which was a really nice touch. Dessert: My partner went with the Toblerone cheesecake, and he was a little dismayed by the initial size of it, but once you took a bite you realise how heavy (in a good way) it was and he loved it. I got the profiteroles which I loved! 4/5 big healthy fluffy ones, with ice cream inside, drizzled in chocolate size and a scoop of whipped cream on the side. Price: Price for us both came to around 65E (we weren't having wine etc) which I found very reasonable Service: Service was top notch. Waiters could not have been better especially considering what a busy night it was. They also offered loyalty cards etc at the end of night which is a very good idea.

I went there with a couple of friends at around 9 and the place was not as buzzing as other times. The food was good and the portions were huge. The waitress forgot a portion of fries but we did not ask for it again. Another waiter was extremely apologetic and gave me the coffee that I had ordered for free. He could not have been nicer. The chorizo and pork espetadas were very nice and the chorizo and sour cream burger was unusual but my friend loved it! The toblerone cheesecake was expensive but amazing!

Went here on a Sunday night with my boyfriend. Staff are all very friendly no complaints there. Ordered the lasagne and home-made fries was reasonably priced at 15€ my boyfriend had the chicken fajitas this was a bit more expensive at 20€ (huge portion could be shared amongst 2 people). Overall I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Great food and great value what more could you ask for?

Called in for lunch with a friend, chose here for the convenience and the few vouchers I had to spend! There are plenty of lunhc deals and there is good value in wine. My friend had pasta contadina, grand!?! I had fourseasons pizza, doughier base than use to but fine. The Voigner was the highlight. We chose the profiteroles for desert, really decadent lunch!! but who can eat profiteroles filled with ice cream... Even with the vouchers it was overpriced and so quiet that you couldn't enjoy, won't be visiting here again.

I've eaten here many times, and each time has been great. Ate here most recently over christmas and restaurnt was very busy and we were seated almost straight away. I had the pizza it was huge and delicious! The waiter we had was great checked on us a few times and couldnt to more for us. However did eat here a few months before hand and had the lasange from the lunch menu, i couldnt eat it as their was a layer of grease floatging on top of it. The waiter was lovely and he took it off my bill! Would definately go back again!

This restaurant has a very good atmosphere, always full of people. The food is not great but there are very good deals such as early bird and family for 50 menus. The lunch menu is also very reasonable with a main course and a soft drink for 10.90. Staff here are very friendyl but the service can be very slow, especially because it is a very busy place. It is a convenient place to eat as it is reasonably priced when the lunch menu is on but I would never go there for the a la carte when there is no deal as the food is not very good.

I went with my sister for an evening meal. booked through the menu pages website using my menu points. we got nachos grande for two for starter which was lovely. we skipped the main meal and had dessert; toblerone cheescake and triple chocolate choc fudge sundae. they were both delicious but a bit pricey. the restaurant is very nice and the service was great. will definitely eat here again.

well I have to say the food here is so tasty! It really is an ideal place to bring a family it really is so kid friendly. I went there with my friends and we all had a starter of garlic bread it was so tasty. I then had a cheese burger for my main course it was so juicy and very fresh. the burgers are a 100% homemade from beef. one of my friends had a margarita pizza which she thaught was such good value as the pizza was so cheap and you get a massive pizza and my other friend had a burger just like myself and she said to me that it was the best birger that she ever tasted! then after that we all got the toberlone cheesecake to share between us it was very nice also. i can see how they are famous for their cheesecakes! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys fresh homemade tasty food!

I hadnt been to Luigis in a while and I must say I was very disappointed. I got the mushrooms for starter and they were hard to cut and appeared to be reheated not good value for €6.50, the soup of the day for €5.60 came with no bread or roll. The Chicken korma again was disappointing with 2 breast of chicken in a bowl with the sauce poured over it, on a plus size the burger was good value.

Went here for lunch, where you get a drink and a main course at a very resonable price. The piza's are great and would really fill you up for lunch. Staff are very friendly and the food come out fast. Atmosphere is nothing special, but is acceptable. Would visit again maybe next time for dinner.

I orderd the nachos to start and the steak for main. My partner orderd buffallo wings to start and a pizza for main. The nachos were very nice as were the buffallo wings. The only complaint I have about the starters is that they were served in less the 3 minutes. We had barely given our order before they were out. But it tasted good. The service was too quick for the main course as well. We had just finished our starters when our mains were served. I really don't like this, and obviously when we had ordered wine we were happy to wait about 10mins for our main. But this didn't happen. It felt like they were rushing us even though the place was pretty empty and it wasn't late. The mains were not as good as the starters. The steak was chewy and not a great cut of meat at all. It was served medium as requested. The mushrooms and onions were only ok and the chunky chips were decent. But not good enough to make up for a chewy €24 steak. I also thought the extra charge for a sauce (pepper, garlic, or mushroom) was a bit much. The pizza was also a bit dissapointing. The base was still soft in the middle and clearly undercooked. Probably because it was served so quickly. And there was way too much cheese on it. Don't get me wrong, both the pizza and steak were edible and ok but it definately wasn't worth the €80 bill which included house white wine, two starters, and two mains, and one delicious toblerone cheesecake. The staff were very nice and the atmosphere was good. But I wouldn't visit again.

Lovely Atmosphere in this city centre Restaurant. My wife and i thought the service was spot on.No complaints really but the beer was a bit on the expensive side. I would recommend luigi's to my friends anytime. My wife would like to add the desserts were amazing.

Visited Luigis for the early bird midweek. At €20 menu was good value with the earlybird drinks offer of €11.95 per bottle of wine and €5 cocktails. However food was only mediocre with dry nachos, cold and cheese underneath bizarre. Main course of piri piri chicken was also uninteresting with wedges in place of the promised 'chunky chips'. Our service however was efficient and friendly

Went for the Early Bird Menu for a Birthday Celebration, Service was good, but seemed a little short staffed as resturant was busy. Food was excellent, from starter to dessert, atmosphere was good but thought gaps between courses were a bit long possibly due to the place being quiet busy. Would return again as it was great Value for Money

lovely setting outside for coffee/lunch / evening drinks. one of the few places in cork with seats in the sunshine, nice view over to crawford gallery and the opera house. extremely nice staff. huge menu which i think usually bodes badly but the cover all bases quite well. pizzas are really think and delicious but weirdly go cold quite quickly. wings are savage! really good values deals for family / lunch / free bottles of wine etc and the loyalty card is excellent - free €5 voucher every time you spend €50. especially good if your friends dont have one and you get all the points! once went for a staff night out and got all the points and had €80 in vouchers for myself! great value and choice, especially if you're trying to please alot of peoples tastes

Headed here on Saturday for dinner with the kids and really enjoyed it! We ordered off the family menu - 2 adults + 2 kids meals (2 courses plus a drink for kids and tea/coffee for the adults) for €50, great value and a good selection of items to choose from. I had Nachos to start and an Americana pizza for mains, hubby had calamari and BBQ Chicken pizza, all the food was lovely, very tasty!! The kids had mini pizzas and icecream and were very happy too! The service was friendly and speedy without feeling rushed, the restaurant was busy enough, even at 6 and some larger groups were on the way in when we were leaving at 7.30ish. The only negative about this place is that the tables are a bit on top of each other, not the best place for a romantic dinner!! Great for a lively fun meal out!

We went to Luigi's mainly for the ice-cream tower, which was requested as a birthday treat! But the rest of the meal was really good too. I had the B.B.Q Pork & Chorizo Espetadas, and the flavours were amazing! Very generous portions too, I wasn't able to finish mine. We actually ordered a la carte from the extensive and varied menu, but both the early bird and family special deals are incredibly good value for money. A bottle of wine for €11.95 - you won't get that in many restaurants. A lot of the food is fun and unusual and good for sharing - skewers, fajitas, nachos, jambalaya. The waiting staff was attentive and able to make a small change to our order we requested without any fuss. Will be back.

Ok - I really don't want to seem totally negative about this place because it totally depends on what you are looking for. I ate there last Thursday evening and as I'm a big fan of the Dublin branch I expected it to be pretty much the same. Unfortunately when I arrived I was more than a bit disappointed. The decor is pretty tired and also there was a horrible smell of just old food and cloths used to clean tables. The one in Dublin is much cleaner and has a buzzier vibe about it too. Don't get me wrong, the food was lovely, I had the nachos and the estepadas, both were fab and the early bird menu is amazing value. It did the job of a quick bite to eat before a gig in the Marquee but definitely outshadowed by the Dublin branch and could do with a good clean up I'm afraid.

Went here for an anniversary meal. Got the lovely high chairs which are very comfortable! The service was first class, and we were able to order combination of starters as a main course which was ideal. Although we didn't have the cocktails they looked fab! food was hot, very prompt and excellent service. Got the Meringue for dessert - definately one to share!!! will be back again

food is absolutley lovely here, well presented, busy happening location, i did find it a bit pricey - but as a treat out it is a lovely place to go - went there on my first date with my fiance and go back there time and time again for both sentimental and good quality, ideal if you going to the Opera house!

We had the pleasure of eating in luigi malones (yet again) recently as a birthday treat. 6 of us went and everyone was happy..... just wait until you taste the spare ribs as a main. oh lord above the are only beautiful. And leave room for the toberone cheese cake. ITS SAVAGE. Only bad thing is that they don't serve guinness.

The restaurant was extremely busy when we arrived and were told it would be a fifteen minute wait which we were happy with as we were in no rush. We were seated and given menus and within 15 minutes were had out order taken and were eating our starter. There was a bit of a wait between courses but we knew the kitchen was busy and we had been informed when were arrived of this so it was not an issue for us. The food itself was tasty and we were both full when leaving. Staff were very friendly and there was a very relaxed atmosphere. The only negative I have is that the place was very nosy due to the large crowd but overall our visit to Luigi's was a very pleasant one.

Visited here on a rare weekend that I was back in Cork and had a great time. My family and I really enjoyed our meal and the experience was made even more enjoyable as we used our €25 menupages.ie voucher. I had the chicken fajittas, which were gorgeous and not too spicey. The portion was very large and I did not have room for dessert, my sister got the 'death by chocolate', which looked amazing.

Went for dinner here last night, my girlfriend got the Piri Piri chicken which was a lot spicier than described, luckily got the sauce on the side. I got the burger which was one of the best i've had. Bit pricey but good drinks promo's before 7.

We went here just before we went to a play in the Half moon theatre. The starters where nice as always, we had the nachos and the calamari from the early bird menu, very good, the nachos had three different dips with it and the majo with the calamari was delicious! Then we had the chicken cesar salad and the peri peri chicken, I have to say the peri peri chicken wasn't as good as I would have expected... I thought it would be a really nice home made marinade but it was quite blunt really... the chicken was very tender though. The chicken cesar was only leaves and chicken, no other veg like tomatoes or something in it! We also had a coffee in the end which was part of the 19.90euro early bird offer. I was here before but this time it wasn't as nice as usual... Hope they get better again!

Arrived 20 mins early planning to get a drink but were given our table with no problems. food was fantastic. garlic bread comes with a bowl of extra garlic butter. yum. prawn fajhitas were gorgeous. really filling as was the beef burger that my partner got. he was stuffed after it. pavlova was to die for. lovely relaxed place under no pressure to hurry our meal. cant wait to go there again.

I've visited here a number of times before but more recently had lunch during the Easter holidays. It was quite busy but we were served promptly and our food was also brought out in good time too. I went for the yaki soba which was really tasty. There was just the right amount too as I hate leaving a place to full. On other occasions, I've had the baby calamari, baby back ribs and a number of pasta dishes which have all been delicious. I would recommend Luigi Malones for lunch or dinner and it is especially handy if you are going to the Opera House after as it is right across the way.

we had a great evening here at LMs, and were especially happy when our bill only totaled €60 at the end of 2 starters, 2 steaks and a great bottle of wine :) We had a 'free bottle of wine' voucher that my other half had received from his previous visit, and we also claimed our menupages points €25 voucher. The service here at Luigis was excellent, even though they were extremely busy. For starters we had the calamari - very tasty, and chicken wings. The main event were two steaks - well cooked tasty fillets. And a great bottle of malbec to finish. Can't wait to return... for cocktails too perhaps!!

Having been in the Temple Bar venue before this was the first visit to the Cork branch. Went with my my brother in law and family so with 6 paistí we were given a very nice booth. Childrens lunch option is €5 a head and was very good value with some nice choice. I went for piri-piri chicken which was very tasty and had a refreshing milkshake to wash it down. Everyone was happy with their choices, good atmosphere in the restaurant, service was very efficient and friendly and have €10 in vouchers for our next trip. Will definitely be back when we're next down south.

My experience of this restaurant was excellent. My husband, two children and I went there for our Wedding Anniversary. We found the waitress fantastic and very helpful. We started off with garlic bread which was delicious. Then I ordered wine and got a picture of wine from them which was of great value. We all got steaks which were fabulous eventhough I told the waitress that I did not want onions with it and she still gave them to me. I really dislike onions. Food overall was delicious. Service was excellent. The value for money was brilliant. I also received loyalty points for my bill which really encouraged me to come back there again

I dined at this restuarant with a group of 19 others. In my experience, another restuarant would have been hard pressed to satisfy every person in a group so large but for the staff of Luigi Malones in Cork, it was a breeze. We were seated immediatly, drinks orders taken within a couple of minutes of being seated, regardless of it being a busy saturday night. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Food was delicious - especially dessert (triple chocolate ice cream brownie). I felt it was reasonably charged, under €50 per person for three courses and wine, considering the food and service were top notch! I would definitely visit this restaurant again, and am looking forward to doing so!

This place is "just ok". It is a wannabe italian I think because it is overpriced and does not have a very authentic italian taste. The early bird menu states it is 3courses when in fact it is 2 with a cup of tea at the end counted as a course which is a bit cheeky!! I got the vegetarian pasta dish which was a bit bland and the vegetables were overcooked the garlic bread also wasnt up to standard and very plain. For the price you pay there is nicer places you could go in Cork City.

Went there for Staff night for the last two christmas's , first time round were late in been seated , then rushed as there was as a second booking later that evening. Food was fair that night. Last christmas, again rushed , ordered a Blue Rib eye Steak , got medium to well done, food in general was not great, place would be good if you are 5 or six drinks down before you eat.....then again so a burger and chips. Finally considering the value about town last December , Luigi's was totally over priced .........next year will go to a decent eatery or bring sandwichs if i have to suffer luigi's again.

food was great. We got nachos to start to share. They were smaller portion to what you would normally get in a restaurant, but this was a great thing as there was just a nice amount there that didnt make you too full for dinner. Nachos were lovely. only thing i could say bad about it was that they seemed a bit over priced for what you were getting. For dinner, i had pizza which was huge and was lovely. My friend had steak, with the potato gratin and loved it! ate every bit! Service and atmosphere were great! Will return!

There are so many great restaurants in cork but this is not one of them. It used to be great but has lost alot in quality and I dont feel it has adapted well in the recession, its still very expensive and the dining room is so large it feels like an average hotel. I was not impressed

I didn't decide on this restaurant for lunch with my work colleagues as I hadn't enjoyed my previous visit. However the food was absolutely fabulous. It was nice, tasty & reasonable (for lunch anyway). The restaurant itself is very clinical but can't fault the food.

I stopped in here last Saturday around lunch time. I wasnt hungry but I wanted a treat. Even though it was busy I was able to order tea and a toblerone cheese cake for 5.90 euro! There was no issue made that I wasnt getting a full meal. My mother ordered tea and a scone. The toblerone cheesecake was one of the best I have ever tasted and for the price and the surroundings it was excellent value. The lunch menu also seems to be good value and there were some tasty looking dishes being handed out. I think I will definitely go back for lunch soon. Overall... excellent!

cant complain about the food, quite enjoyable by all accounts. unfortunately the only snag holding back this eatery is the price, it is overpriced comparing with other restaurants of the same calibre in the city centre.

Over a year ago I posted a bad review for this restaurant. Went back on Fri 18th Dec. I booked through Menupages & used the €25 menupages voucher. What a difference. Excellent service. We were welcomed warmly & seated immediately even though we were 20 mins early. Orders were taken & delivered promptly. Food was beautiful & served exactly as ordered. Lovely buzzy atmosphere. They got us out in time for Opera House. Will be back.

I went there on a Saturday night. It was very hit and miss in the food & service areas. It's always busy so there is a good atmosphere, to the point where it gets a little too loud. Very American-diner in decor and atmosphere. Prices are a little on the high side for the selection and quality of the food. I paid €18.90 for the Salmon parcel. I was mistaken in thinking it was Salmon in a pastry parcel. It was actually a darn of salmon in a tinfoil wrapping with very little trimmings. It was over-cooked and soggy. Veg consisted of a very small head of Broccoli and hand-cut fries, these were soggy too. There was no sauce or extra veg to liven up the dish. It was tastless. Would I go there again? Probably, to try a few other menu items. Avoid the Salmon though, it's a rip-off. The deserts are €6.90 to over 7 euro for various items, again well overpriced. I went for a pint of Fishers Draft beer, their only tap beer. €5.90 plus tip. I felt hard done-by leaving the place.

I go here with my girlfriend and family quite a lot. I've never been disappointed despite having high expectations for the food. The prices are a little on the high side but it's hard to complain too much when the food is of such high quality. The fillet mignon here is one of the best I've ever tasted. Great restaurant.

Luigi Malones is one of my favorite places to eat in Cork. The menu is diverse and delicious; we had a large party and everyone (even the picky eaters) found something to order and everyone enjoyed their meals. They served delicious Bailey's cheesecake and some kind of American-style ice cream sundae that could have been a meal! The servers were casual, but efficient. There's no pretentious attitude here and they found us a table on a Saturday night without a booking. Definitely worth it!

This was a disaster! The atmosphere was more of a diner than a fine dining experience. The room was cold and unbalanced. The food was strange. our bill came to nearly E90 for 2 mains, 2 drinks, 2 deserts. My microwave reheated nachos certainly didnt do the price tag justice! My husband had the steak and said it was nice - it was nearly E30 so i wasnt expecting anything less! It seriously wasnt anything special, like i said, more of a diner experience. Also, they had very little vegeterian options- about 6 options in total. No value for our money. We left stuffed but we dint feel good about it. TOO OVERPRICED! The only thing i cannot fault was the superb service we recieved from our waiter. He was friendly, helpful and informative. Would not return again.

went to Luigi with my friends on a weekday evening. Thought would give a second try but I think it was a mistake. We were really fishing for a waiter as, although it was empty, nobody approached us for a good while and when finally we succeded in placing the order it took ages to get the food. It was after 9 o'clock and the place was not busy at all so I was quite disappointed about the service. The food was ok, although I had impression that the chicken goujons were fried together with fish. Don;t go for icecream tower as better icecream is served at a garage. hmm, pity as this place used to have atmosphere. not anymore

Went to Luigi's for a birthday with a big group and was severely disappointed by the service. On making our reservation, they told us that they wanted us out by 10pm, but the service was so slow that our desserts weren't even served until past 10! We repeatedly had to ask for our dishes-all starters, mains and desserts..and the numerous staff didn't even look all that busy especially after 9pm! We ordered from the early bird menu..which is nice that they served all night on Fridays. It had a rather poor selection, and my prawn espetadas were extremely disappointing as they were tasteless and the shell was stuck fastly on the prawns.

Booked a table for 17 for dinner party on a busy friday night. Food was decent, was better the last time i was here, maybe because it was quieter that time as well. Service was disappointing, some starters came out first then there was a long gap before the rest of the starters came. Main course came like an hour later. Great atmosphere though, will definitely go again, but perhaps not during the weekends.

I booked this meal and used my Menupages €25 voucher which meant we only spent €20 including a tip!! We got the early bird menu and had really good nachos for starter, the tempura chicken was only ok. For main we had noodles which were really tasty and a flame grilled burger which was nice too. Portions are very generous (almost too big really) and there were loads of staff on so we were never lacking anything. We will definately go back, good for a casual meal or a group meal.

Ate here on Saturday night with 3 others. Had chicken wings for starter. Tasty but I've had nicer. Spicy Island chicken for main which was delicious as usual. Service was good. Attentive when needed but not overly so. I like the food in Luigi's but always feel its overpriced for what you get. Think it's all about the name.

Went here for a birthday party of eight people, service was a little slow considering that there was hardly anybody else in the restaurant at 6.30pm. Food portions are of a good size and good value. Great for bigger parties as everyone gets served together and the waiters leave you alone and don't pester you to leave which is great. Overall: an enjoyable experience

Went here with a work party of 20 people, this is an excellent venue for large groups aswell as small partys, the dinning room is layed out in such a way that noisy partys wont disturb the more intimate crowd, the staff and kitchen seem well able to cope with many partys, we ordered off the set menu and none of us were dissapointed, portions are generous and the deserts are sinful, This branch of Luigi Malones is 1000times better then the Dublin branch. next time im in Cork i'll deffinitly return.

I visited this restaurant with my boyfriend for a meal on a Saturday night. It was my first time to Luigis and I will be returning. The restaurant is very large inside and has a nice size smoking area outside. The service by the staff was excellent. We were seated by the door when we arrived, I personally hate sitting near the door in a restaurant, we moved to the next table and this was no problem with the staff. The food was very good. I had Gambas Al Ajillo for starter. Very nice but maybe a little watery. My boyfriend had Baby Calamari and these were fantastic. He had Roast Bbq Haxen for main course and found it lovely. I had Sour Cream Chicken Enchilada and found it nice. We were both so stuffed by the end that we couldnt fit in any desert. I always get desert so that says a lot. Very nice overall, would recommend to a friend. Perfect for large parties especially birthday partys and special occassions. Would not recommend to somebody looking for a quiet restaurant.

Have been here on many occasions for both dinner and lunch. Food is generally very good, and not expensive. It is an ideal venue for large groups. Very spacious, comfortable restaurant with nice decor. Great place for dinner before a show in the Opera House as it is located right across the square from it. The nachos on the lunch menu are some of the best I've had. Excellent for families also.

I ate here on the last occasion with a group of 6 and it seemed better value than in the past. I had the garlic mushrooms for starters which were really good and the steak for my maincourse which was the best I have eaten out in a long time. The deserts were huge and the coctails were great. Overall, we were all impressed by what we had and the service was good.

A group of 12 of us went for dinner here on good Friday. The restaurant was quite busy and the atmosphere was good. Unfortunately the service was awful, and the food was even worse. There was a huge time difference between the first person receiving their starter and the last. I had to ask for my starter twice after I first ordered it and it was only soup. Everyone in the group agreed that the overall quality of the food was terrible and one of the girls didn't even receive her side dish with her main. I got sour cream chicken enchilada for main which was pure slop and tasted so bad I couldn't even finish it. I can honestly say it was the worst meal I have had in years and was baffled at how busy the place was considering the rubbish that they serve up to people. Also it was not that cheap. The only reason I can think that this place does well is beacause of its location opposite the Opera House. I for one will never be setting foot inside the place again.

Mmmm, had a meal there with 20 girls on saturday night and all was going swimmingly well until we were asked to keep the noise down, and my sisters mother in law was asked to sit down, as she was standing at the end of the table talking to one of the guests. We were 20 girls chatting and gossiping, we weren't rowdy or singing, or making a spectacle of ourselves! Having said that food, wine, service, atmosphere was top class, and the cocktails were delish! We complained to the Manager and were compensated for the way we were treated, but I would not recommend this venue for large groups of people who want to enjoy a chat and laugh with their food.

This is a good place to book of you are planning a meal out with a lot of people, the table space at the back of the restaurant is huge and it fitted our large party of friends very comfortably. However, acoustics are not great, so you have to change seats and move around if you want to catch up with everyone. Service was friendly and not too attentive; for the most part they left us to our own devices but were generally on hand immediately when assistance/extra drink/extra food was required. The food was reasonably priced and filling. Descriptions on the menu were tantalising and presentation was appealing. The taste, however, was a bit of a let down. We may have been overly critical but there were two complaint in particular; the crab was too salty, the vegetarian dishes were mundane. So not excellent, but better than mediocre.

Good for large groups of people, and even though a lot of people can fit in to the restaurant it doesn't ever seem overcrowded. Menu is good, food is good, nothing spectacular but nothing to complain about either and all at a good price, desserts are v.nice!

Their early bird special are super value, especially for a cheap mid week meal out with the girls, and the cocktails are fab. The service was good too, very friendly and attentive waiter. That said the food was only so-so and a bit on the tasteless side. I'll go again but really only for the value.

ive been a few times, I think its a great restaurant overall i just have a few notes. ill start with the positive, the desserts are to die for, the chocolate sunday as well as the cheesecake are fantastic, and the service is generally quite good. On the other hand the food sometimes comes out cold (or has once or twice) and the the cheese on the nachos never seems to be fully melted. its a great menu however. Id probably still go back.

They never ask you to leave! -which I love...I was there a couple of weeks ago with some girl friends and we sat down to lovely 3 course dinner - nothing overtly fancy but good quality and well cooked with great service from the staff. After we'd finished dessert, we finished off our wines, ordered cocktails and chatted for another hour at least. The staff were nothing but lovely - despite the fact we were there for hours!!!

I was working in Cork and wanted something hearty to eat! Make sure you book ahead if you plan on eating there at the weekends. The food is standard Italian but I enjoyed a few realxing cocktails from their drinks menu...enjoy!!

I've been here several times over the years and the main reason is becuase I like the atmosphere in there and also as the loyalty scheme and early-bird offers are very good value. That said, I don't believe the food to be great - last time I was in, the springrolls I was served were frozen solid in the middle. I've had a couple of other dodgy experiences as well such as the stir-fry being drenched in sauce and again, bordering on stomach-churning. I always flag issues & return food but the fact that I even use the word 'always' says enough. Staff-wise, they are nice enough but I find it hard to attract their attention & am never sure who my waiter/waitress is as a variety of people pop up at the table to give menus/take orders/ bring drinks/ bring food etc.

Luigi Malones is a poor chain restaurant coasting along on a very good location and interesting decor. The food is mind-numblingly boring and compensates with ridiculously huge portions and watered down cocktails. This place is effectively a slightly fancier burger chain. If you like deep-fried oily starters, burgers in tasteless processed buns, and monstrous bland portions, then this is the place for you. Service is so-so. Be prepared to wait for everything. I doubt there's much fresh in here at all, everything tastes of being pre-frozen, shipped in and thawed on demand. Oh, and it's crazy expensive for what you get.

I went on two occasions, once with a group of 10, we had a great night, service was very good, and food was amazing - I had the ladys fillet steak which was cooked to perfection (medium) unbelievably tender and juicy with garlic butter and crispy veg with home cut chips. Some of the people I was there with had the Fajitas and weren't impressed at all, not enough flavour, and the steak fajita, the steak was too tough. I had the chocolate fudge sunday dessert which was huge and evilly good. I had to get help from 3 others to finish, and it was just gorgeous with chunks of brownie, cream, vanilla and chocolate icecreams and almonds with chocolate sauce dripping all over. The second time I went I wasn't as impressed, food was still gorgeous - but as we hadn't made a reservation we were put at a table that looked like a kiddies table away from the main crowd. the service was pitiful, I had to go looking for the waitress on a couple of occasions. My boyfriend requested a baked potato with his ribs and was given chips. We told a passing waiter to alert our waitress, he said he would sort it out, and we didn't see him for the night.. his dinner was getting cold, so we started eating while looking around for the waitress. In the end, we never got the potatoe, he didnt eat the chips and I asked the restaurant to deduct them from our bill, which they did with no issues. I would go again because food was great, but maybe with a reservation next time.

Have been a few times, foos and service can be goof or terrible, seems no middle ground. Drinks always well made and presented. Overall only go when invited as part of a group, would never pick it as you never know if it will be a good night or a bad one.

Luigi Malones was quite busy so I'm glad I had booked a table in advance. I'd advise anyone to take advantage of their offers. I had a pasta dish for my main course, it tasted lovely but I had to eat around the cheese that they so generously sprinkled on top as I wasn't informed that it would be in the dish. Unfortunately the sauce became watery because the pasta wasn't drained properly but it didn't affect the taste. My companion had the lasagne which she devoured with gusto. She had the toblerone and butterscotch cheesecake for dessert which was great; not too cheesy, not too sweet!! I had the strawberry and cream pavlova which was a little too hard for my liking but was well presented and enjoyable nonetheless!! the cocktails were a bit strong but generous and beautiful. The staff were a little too enthusiastic when we entered, rushing us to a table before we had a chance to inform them of our reservation. This resulted in me being moved after 5 minutes to a different table while my friend was in the bathroom (very inconvenient). Enthusiasm isn't the worst thing that could happen though!!

Pizza not bad, the meat skewer is quite tasty, a bit salty but it's meant to be like that! the wine in the carafe it's a good option, but combined with the skewer you need at least 3 carafe (each) to battle the thirst!! noisy place overall, specially over the weekend!

We visited Cork city at the weekend and we were recommended this restaurant by the receptionist in our hotel. When we arrived we were seated straight away, the staff were very friendly and it seemed to be very busy. I ordered mushrooms with lime mayo and my boyfriend ordered chicken gougons when they arrived they were just slapped on a plate, the chicken starter was HUGE!very very average, for mains i chose the chicken fajitas and my boyfriend had a pizza again very very average!the fajitas were so dry they came with no sauce and the pizza was quite tasteless.Overall the food wasn't good at all. the service was good though. But i wouldnt return.

We made a reservation for four requesting a table in the front part of the restaurant, near the windows - as the back can be a bit claustrophobic. Our request was honoured despite it being a busy Saturday night. Service was good, quite attentive but slowing down towards the end of our meal as it got very busy then and our waiter was rushing between tables. The food was good. We had the Nachos Grande to share between all of us as a starter. Between the four of us we then had the Filet Mignon, a Lamb dish, the Bean cassoulet and the Chicken Tequila Fettuccine. Everyone was happy with their main course. Dessert was a bit disappointing then, as my husband's apple crumble was dangerously hot - clearly overheated in the microwave - and consisted mostly of crumble and very little apple. My Black Frozen Russian was nice but totally overpriced for the amount of crushed ice it contained. Overall a good place to go with good food. But, not really excellent value for money as I found most of the main courses overpriced.

Not bad overall. Food was good (chicken wings starter were very nice) and I thought the prices were fair. Menu was fairly extensive but I'm one of those who believes this is a bad thing (slows down service, compromises quality). As such, was left to wait a very long time for my main (30+ mins) but in fairness, the waitress apologized and offered to remove the cost of the starter from the bill which was an excellent touch. I also couldn't help but feel that groups are this place's forte.

Best for a group, otherwise avoid, the food was good overall. Some of the table weren't happen with the calamari as it was soggy. The prices are high compared to similar and 10% service charge for large groups, had me thinking we should be getting 10% discount. Not sure about the beef all being from Argentina what happened good old Irish.

I ate here for the first time in years and must say i had a great night, although it was very noisy. The atmosphere was fab. The food was a little slow to arrive, but as i was enjoying my v. tasty cocktail it didn't bother me and when it did arrive it was worth waiting for. I had steak which was cooked perfectly served with a large salad (great dressing) and baked potato, just the right amount. Staff throughout the night were very friendly, i had no problem leaving more than the usual 10%.

Went there a few weeks ago and the food was terrible! We ordered the fillet steak fajitas. They were tastlesss and had no seasoning whatsoever. The salsa was mashed up tinned tomatoes with bits of green pepper, the guacomole was just avocado mashed with water. When I told this to the waitress she said she would get the chef to replace the fajitas. She came back 5 minutes later with the same fajitas with added chilli flakes. They were still tastless and I asked to speak to the manager. The manager did'nt seem to have a clue what was going on and we ended up walking out. I would never again go to Luigi Malones.

We made the mistake of going to Luigis on Friday evening. There were seven of us and we had made reservations. Upon arrival the receptionist told us that the table wasn't ready (the place was very busy at the time)...no problem we just took a different table. I agree with previous reviewers if you are expecting service of any decent standard here forget it. They are just too busy with minimal staff. We waited 20 mins for our drinks ..30 for starters (buffalo wings) and an hour and a quarter for mains. No good enough. The only saving grace was that there was a really pleasant French waiter who gave us a round of drinks on the house. Wouldn't reccommend Luigi's as it operates at the moment. Nice location and surroundings but service appalling.

On Saturday last, 10 friends and I arrived in Luigi Malones for dinner at 8pm. The place was taken over by hen & Stag parties. The restaurant itself is quite open and so the noise level was high and it was difficult to have a conversation as a result. The service was good and the staff attentive but the food itself was very much thrown together - I haven't been to a restaurant in a while where the food was so boring and lacking in flavour. I had the yakisoba and quite honestly I could get better noodles in a cheap chinese takeaway. I had not been to Luigi's in a number of years and thought that the decor could do with updating or even just a lick of paint to clean it up. With such a lovely location it is a pity that it isn't just a little bit better!

I like Luigi's. I think it's great for a group. It's also one of the view places that you can sit outside where the sun shines on you. Cocktails are nice, food is fine and I always find the service to be very good - very friendly staff. I have a Luigi's loyalty card as well where you get free wine etc when you earn enough credits. Desserts are brilliant.

I've been to Luigi Malones on a couple of occasions. There's quite a buzz about the restaurant, it's generally fairly busy. There's a nice range of starters and the portions are pretty big. In my opinion, the best main course to go for is pizza, they're massive and have a lovely thin crispy base. The desserts in there are fab too; definitely try the Toblerone cheese cake - it's a real treat. Overall, Luigi Malones is a nice restaurant but I feel it's more suited to groups..you can tend to feel a little in the way if there are only two of you. The staff could do with being a little more friendly. The prices are a little bit high but not ridiculous.

Had been here around two years ago. Went there on Mothers day which was very busy. Had read the reviews on this site and have to say they were pretty spot on. We were waiting 15 minutes after being seated for the waiter to come back, 30 mins before he came back with our drinks and 3/4 of an hour by the time the starter came out. I had mussels which for some reason had mostly broken shells (can't figure out why one breaks shells on Mussels whilst cooking). Mrs had Garlic Mushrooms just lobbed on a plate. Mussels weren't great and both were only lukewarm. The main course redeemed experience however with my steak being superb and Mrs Fajitas the same. Would prob have mentioned cold starters to Maitre D only for us going to Opera house. Overall a nice night out helped by two beers and bottle of wine though. Could definitely do with some more staff

Went here last thursday night, meal was nice, service was quick enough as there was only 2 of us but if you went in a large group you would be waiting ages! When you order two main courses you get a free bottle of wine which is great! We were both driving so I asked could I take it away with me, which was no problem! They probably thought I had a drink problem! The dishes are pricey, pizzas are huge but I found the starters to be small, I got portabello mushroom burger and chips and my friends got a beef burger, great for a night out with the girls, as they have loads of cocktails and its conveniently located. Very busy and noisy as the the night goes on. Recommended for a night out.

Time is displayed prominently in Luigi Malones. When you enter there are two huge clocks at either end of the bar. All the more ironic then that this was some of the slowest service I have ever recieved. Had it not been for an interesting dinner companion then I would probably complained that night, 25 minutes from being sat down to being asked for our order and believe me it was not packed not by any means. The food was ok - one of the starters, the Nachos, arrived cold and needed to be reheated and my Buffalo wings had been saturated in vinegar. The main courses were bland and forgettable and the dessert (after another long wait) wasn't really worth the wait. I know we were there mid week but this is a D+ and a must try harder for Luigi Malones where they apearently have lots of Time, but not lots of Time for their Customers.

Honestly a good place to eat. Been there a fair few times now and have to say I like it (for the most part). The staff can sometimes be a bit off or rushing about and if you're in a large group then you will probably get through 2 drinks before the food even gets there. Can be a bit noisy and cold if the fans are on. But, and this is a big but, the food is UNREAL. Only place in the world I would pay €23 for a steak. It is that good. Pizzas are massive too. Overall ok, saved by the steak

I've been to this restaurant three or four times, and none of the times has it been great. The food is only ok, the atmosphere is good if you are going in a big group and the cocktails are lovely, but the service tends to be fairly poor and the food is not great either. Wouldn't be rushing back.

I can't make up my mind about this place. I went there as a couple once and really enjoyed myself. It was early evening so before it go crowded and noisy and had lovely pizza. Went there again with a group and have been turned off the place since. A waiter and waitress kept coming to table to take drink orders but took ages and a few requests to get someone to take a food order. I had pasta, which if I had made at home, I would have thrown in the bin. Was with work so wasn't going to make a huge fuss. The pasta was burnt on top, stuck to the bottom of the bowl and tasted really oily. Even though I had barely touched it, the waiter said nothing when taking it way. Any waiter worth his salt would have known that there must have been something wrong with it. The bill in the end reflected how many drinks we ended up ordering while waiting for them to both take order and then bring food. Might have been a one off but there are so many good restaurants in Cork, I really can't see myself going back here.

Great restaurant, in a great location across the road from the opera house. Ideal for post show frozen cocktails and dinner. I would recommend the fajitas, they are seriously tasty and very filling, and afterwards I recommend the cheesecake - mouth watering. Nice surroundings and you can sit outside weather permitting.

My friend brought me here for lunch one day. It was Ok. I though all the food tasted of the same smoky, salty taste. I had a burger and my friend had wings, and I didn't particularly like either. The service was only ok. We had to ask a few times for water. Maybe they had an off day because I had heard good things about it. The decor was lovely.
