I am just back from dining at this wonderful resturant. The staff were great, friendly and prompt but not a bit intrusive. The food was fantastic! I had the pork terrine which looked and tasted fab, then the duck confit with cherry sauce and fondat potato which was beautiful. To finish I had the chocloate & orange mouse, with granita and white chocolate cookie - it was devine!! My companions had the tasting plate to start which looked and tasted fantastic too by all accounts! All the fish dishes were cooked to perfection. We choose the prix fix menu and I thought it was superb value. I cant wait to visit this resturant again - Im just wondering how soon I can make it back! The only down side that I can mention is that it was quite hot! Maybe some air con wouldnt go a miss!

This 'fine dining' establishment has been one of the top destinations in Cork for some time with husband and wife owners packing an impressive CV. Overall it is indeed a fine destination. We had a couple of We mixed the better value fixed price menu, with the dinner menu. For starters we had the the tasting plate, and the scallops and Jerusalem artichoke puree. The tasting plate was excellent. The scallop and Jerusalem artichoke was less impressive. We didn't feel they matched each other very well. For mains we had the confit of duck, and the pork belly. The duck was slightly dry. The pork belly succulent and tasty. Both dishes however could have benefited from some more sauce. For desert we had the lemon plate, which was delicious. Overall very good, but a couple of tweeks and it could be perfect.

I had heard alot about Les Gourmandises so in the run up to your meal I found myself genuinely excited about going here to sample their fine food. It was a Tuesday night and the restaurant was over half full which in itself is a good sign. Our waitress gave us some time to chat and salivate over the menu's before approaching. To start I had the pork terrine - which was amazing. Beautiful subtle flavours of blackberry and pork, then for my mains I tried the lamb shoulder served on baked aubergine which was so incredibly tender, I genuinely ate so slowly and carefully so as to really savour the flavour, I finished up my meal with their house cheese board which was a fabulous selection of three cheese's with crackers. One of the finest meals i've ever had. couldn't recommend highly enough

Went here with 2 friends for Sunday lunch. Such a relaxed warm atmosphere!! Staff were very friendly and the complimentary glass of champagne went down a treat. We were there for over 3 hours. The food is excellent. The portions don't look big, but after so many courses you really do get well fed. You are also asked if you would like to order sides, but tbh there is no need. Most dishes come with either salad or potatoes in any case. A great place to spend a relaxed Sunday lunch for adults.

Les Gourmandises Delighted with my most recent visit to Les Gourmandises. Fine French Dining is printed on their card and it is no empty motto. They live up to it and you may live it up here. If you find yourself in the Cook Street establishment (lucky you!), then start with their Tasting Plate. It figures on both their menus. On Friday night, we got an eye popping plateful (on their well known slate) which consisted of Prawns in Filo Pastry, Rabbit Terrine and Artichoke Soup. Gorgeous and quite substantial. The other starter at the table was Rillette of Castletownbere crab, the slate also containing some poached pear & mustard grain. The container looked quite small but the ever so tasty crab was packed tightly and there was more than enough for the two pieces of delicious toast and so I brought their excellent crunchy brown bread into play. I’ve had a lot of Confit de Canard, both here and in France over the past 12 months, and the one served up on the Gourmandises slate was one of the best, of not the very best. Billed as Roast duck leg confit with confit potato, Blackberries and Red Cabbage, it was superb, cooked to perfection. Would have liked a touch more “moisture”, by way of sauce or vegetable, but was well satisfied with it. Dessert was an Orange panacotta with Almond mandolin and Citrus Fruits. All three elements were served separately on the plate. The sweet panacotta, the tarty fruits (orange and red grapefruit) and the more neutral mandolin made for a smashing well balanced dessert. My desert wine (from a choice of five) came from Jurancon in the south-west of France. The Symphonie de Novembre Domaine de Cauhape (7.95 per glass) is 100% Petit Manseng which has spent ten months in oak. Honey, orange and quince in the bouquet, it is fresh and creamy on the palate, not as long in the finish as the likes of Tokaji but a really lovely sweet wine. Also very happy with the red wine that we had at the earlier courses: Cabardes, Chateau de Jouclary (6.85). This was a really well balanced mix

Not having been since April I went twice in one week it was so good. Food was superb, and outstanding value at €29.50 for 3 courses. Taste, presentation and portion size were all top notch. As always, the warm bread was irresistable. Conft Duck was melt in the mouth. As for desert, my chocolate & coffee combination was delicious. I tasted my pal's basil panacotta. with strawberries, wow. Good selection of wine under €30 too. Place was buzzing on both occasions. New decor, outside and in was very chic and soothing, and the round table is a very sociable addition. Nice touches in the form of the new logo on the door & menu paper. Good to see people brave enough to upgrade in these trying times. A lot of thought has gone in to these changes. Bravo Les G!

Enjoyed a weekend in Cork and ate here on the Saturday night. Nice place, and overall a good experience. Food got better for me as the courses wore on, culminating in a really great desert of coconut mousse and passionfruit sorbet. Service was friendly, but absent minded - one of our party was vegan, and had he not requested a salad, the menu more or less restricted him to a tart for both starter and mains, showing a little lack of thinking things through. No doubt Les Gourmandises is getting things right, it was busy the night we dined, but a little more attention from staff wouldn't go amiss.

So disappointing. I had read so much about this restaurant. The descriptions of the food and the numerous qualifications of the staff drew me in. Unfortunately I found this restaurant all round disappointing and certainly didnt live up to its percieved reputation. Prices are high, portions and pretentiously tiny and the food is only OK. It prides itself on being a french restaurant with staff trips to france etc, however there were italien dishes on the menu!!. Also they are way over staffed. I visited on a saturday night and there were only two tables and 4 waitresses who needless to stay were simply standing staring at the tables...very uncomfortable. I would not recommend this place if you're hungry...not good enough in a recession.

I went here for the market menu at 6pm one Friday. The restaurant was freezing and was glad to be seated by the fire while perusing the menu which is a nice touch. I missed the fire when we moved into the cold dining room. The food was absolutely faultless and exciting, it really is a treat. From a food point of view I would love to go back. However, the whole dining experience was a bit of let down. The dining room lacks any atmosphere and could badly do with a refurb. The staff were efficient but very unfriendly and curt. These elements really leave down the outstanding chef. The market menu is outstanding value for the quality you receive so if service and atmosphere don't matter to you, this is a winner.

went here for a romantic meal with fiance for my birthday! and it was a lovely treat! when we arrived we were so cold, so that sat it in front of the fire to warm up! didnt book until day before so could only get table at 6pm, so because it was quite this took away a bit from atmosphere. but the food was fab!! cooked absolutely perfectly, i had duck which just fell off the bone. he had sea bream which he lovee. the tasting plate for starter was such a lovely selection of great food. the creme brulee with chocolate brownie was one of the nicest desserts i ever had. think this place is quite good value for money. early bird: 29euro for 3 course, regular menu 39euro for 3 courses. for the quality of the food, would certainly be more than willing to pay this again. will definitely go back!

Disappointing and upsetting experience in this restaurant. We had enjoyed a wonderful meal in the past & returned to celebrate a special occasion. Food was average, but not exeptional. We had an unexplained 35 min delay before obtaining our table & had curt, unsmiling staff throughout our pm. No senior member of staff available all evening to deal with any issues which arose. Would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

Best restaurant in Cork. I only go here on special occassions and it never disappoints. We had the sommelier recommend the wine who as always was very knowledgable. The staff are attentive and unfussy with a nice vibe in the restaurant. The food as always was superb, The foie gras was cooked to perfection, duck leg moist and my favourite desert, creme brulee had a great consistency. We followed with the cheese board and a glass of desert wine which went very well together. Ok, it may be a little pricey but producing food this good costs money and I thought it was well worth it. Can't wait to go back.

I had been planning to go to this restaurant, for a while. Finally got to go on a saturday night again. Both of us went for the tasting menu. I have to say that everything on the menu was beautifully coooked and delicious. Special mention must go to the servcie which was excellent. Low key (not in your face) but fully aware of what was needed. eg oat biscuits were topped up during the cheese plate without any prompting. Also the chef had no issue switching the deserts as we both preferred the creme brulee. The price of the food was high but in truth the quality of the food and service delivered amde this more than acceptable. Looking forward to going back. Love it

I hadnt been here in years and I used to love it. I had no idea there was an early bird menu available and am delighted I can drag himself out without him being able to use the excuse "its too expensive like!" Les G's is every bit as good as I remembered, if not better! Keep up the good work guys, you'll definitely have me as a regular from now on!

I ate here with 5 friends and we all chose food from the early bird menu. it was €23.50 for 2 courses or €28.50 for 3. the food was excellent and very well presented. the service was also brilliant. the recommended house red wine was €24.50 a bottle which was nice and light and suited everyone whether they were eating fish or meat. i will defintiely be returning to sample the tasting menu!

I had an incredibly good value meal here on Saturday. A three course meal of exceptionally high quality here cost just €28, made even better by the fact that this market menu is available on Saturdays. The menu is small, but each dish I had was very good, the duck leg confit with red cabbage being the highlight. In other restaurants a main course as good as this would cost €28 on its own! Mains portions were a little on the small size, but that would be my only quibble. You will not get better value for money in Cork- Ah gar-uhn-tee!

Recieved a voucher for Les Gourmandises & was relly looking forward to the experience after reading all the reviews. I would not be a 100% fan of French cuisine but the food was 2nd to none, persentation was fab & choice was excellent. We chose the tasting menu & it does give you a fab taste of what the restaurant is all about. Like another reviewer we were seated @ one of the tables for 2 which made conversation very difficult. We were also disappointed as we had requested a table @ 1930 but were told 1900 was only possible & we would have to be out by 2115, however the restaurant was not full & they could have easily met our request. Overall the service was good and very welcoming but the little things can make the experience a little uncomfortable ....

This was blissful food. Yes it is expensive, but every bite was gorgeous, and I thought it was well worth the money in comparison to other places where food and atmosphere would not be worth it. If you have something to celebrate GO HERE. I look forward to going back.

I ate here once for lunch a few years back and raved about it since as have friends of mine who have had dinner there now that they don't do lunch any more (quel domage!). Having finally returned recently for dinner - and with much excitement & anticipation - I absolutely agree that the quality and service of food is excellent - one of the best Cork has to offer! Unfortunately, what detracted from the experiece was the atmosphere - being part of a couple, we were placed at one of the table for 2's in the centre and almost found ourselves whispering across to each other as there was very much a sombre atmoshere in there amonst the other diners who happened to be exceptionally quiet. This was such a pity as it really detracted from what would have been a wonderful night overall.

Had a most enjoyable dinner here as a party of three. Starters consisted of the Tasting Plate and Duck Confit Terrine followed by mains of Sea Bass with Choucroute and Pork, and Roast Cod with Foie Gras and Red Onion Confit. Desserts of Chocolate Mousse with Orange Jelly and Poached Pears completed an excellently executed and presented meal consisting of good quality ingredients. It was a shame that there was a lack of diners when we visited as the quality and presentation of the food and good service deserves more. Unfortunately it is a bit on the pricey side (then again most eating establishments in the country are as well!) so this might make it more of a special occasion place rather than somewhere that one would visit regularly.

I ate here early on a Friday evening and the restaurant was very full and the atmosphere was great! The service was second to none and when the waitress saw we were not making our way through our wine very quickly she suggested we take the rest of the bottle to enjoy at home - very thoughtful! The food was fabulous and tasty and just enough on the portion. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be back here to eat for sure!

The food is brilliant. Whoever the chef is, well done! The service on the other hand is not great. They are really pushy and really want you to order wine, which I find really rude. The last time I was there we had no reservation, there was hardly anybody in the dining area and the owner was fussing over the book trying to arrange something. When we left there were a few people left in the restaurant...so what was all the fuss about??????? But what really made my blood boil is that flyer they had stapled on the menu saying they WILL charge 2 euros extra for some charity and if you don't want them to add 2 euros to the bill you have to tell them. I never read that flyer properly so when I went to pay I saw they added those 2 euros and asked for an explanation. The waitress was just rude and told me I should have read the flyer!!! I've never heard or seen anything like this in my life. They really put me and all the customers in an awkward position because you can't go pay the bill and say "I don't want to give 2 euros to charity". I sent a letter to the owner after this incident.
