My Malaysian Chinese partner and I had our dinner there. The atmosphere is okay - some tacky decor (that I like) however my partner feels that the atmosphere isn't great. We agreed that the stairs upstairs from Market Parade is kinda cool however when we got upstairs to the restaurant itself, it was like arriving at a covered-up canteen. The food were quite, very Irish-Chinese i.e. the usual stuff you ll get at average Chinese restaurants catered for Irish people. In fact, we didn't really enjoy our dinner there but the waiters there were nice to us. My partner felt that for Cork, it is overpriced. While we were there, we noticed that a Chinese family with several kids was eating there but it turned out that they're related to the people working there. Of course they had basic Chinese staples that is normal in Chinese homes - nothing fancy about them. Service: not bad. We won't come back again - and we will not recommend Jade Palace to our Malaysian/Chinese friends.

It was a Sunday, nothing seemed to be moving in the City centre... We finally saw this little restaurant, hidden in the English Market entrance... What a discovery! We went back 2 more times, they have a good early bird menu for 12.95 per person if I remember well. You get a starter, a main course and a dessert. And the food is extremely tasty. We tried the soup and I can guarantee: it did not come out of a can! Try the black bean sauce: it is delicious and homemade. Overall, a very nice quiet place, good for kids too.

here with group of 5 on Stephen's day. we had the set lunch menu, i had the chicken satay as starter and the portion was hugh. The prawns with ginger as my main was so so only, a wine of glass was included.my companian had the duck with blackbean sauce, the satay chicken as starter and they were quite tasty. there weren't lots of people and the atmosphere wasn't great, the whole place was quite cold. the waitress was friendly enough . might return.
