Was walking through Princes Street yesterday evening looking for a nice meal out with my partner, as there are quite a few good restaurants in Princes Street. Having tried a few of the restaurants along the street, and pondered a few times about trying the Indian Palace but we eventually decided that we would dine here. Entering the restaurant you are met by vibrant colours of neon red and blue, and blue skylights in the ceiling, which I must admit adds a bit of class to the restaurant; continuing on about the decor it in my own opinion is great, its very ethnic with traditional indian paintings and statues and of course great indian music playing! Now, down to the service and food; which to our dissapointment was not as good as the decor of the restaurant; now the service was okay, we were seated immediately and when we had finished looking at the menu; we were served straight away also; but the attitude of the waiter wasnt very helpful or friendly. He grunted instead of answering, and spent most of the time staring at us while we were eating which is not a great experience with any restaurant, as it makes you feel very uncomfortable. The food, being very honest was bland, tasteless and not what you would expect from a restaurant, I think I could make a better Chicken Korma myself at home. There was no seasoning, well it tasted like there was no seasoning or spice at all in this dish, now I know that it is a mild dish but, at least add a bit of spice for some flavour? . The only thing really to be honest that I enjoyed about this meal was the Poppadums that were served at the start of the meal, indeed quite tasty :) It was also quite expensive, for a small little restaurant, which I wasn't impressed when I seen the bill. Overall, I wouldn't recommend the Indian Palace as a great place to dine. - Patrick

friday 03rd april out for dinner decided to try this quaint restaurant first apperances were good cosy and warm with welcoming staff the service was good but the food uninteresting and over seasoned. the sauces were quite thick and lacked bite and a 24 euro bottle of white wine from chile was a bargin basement wine over priced. In the current credit crunch market restaurants will need to keep standards high if they are to see this storm through and the indian palace needs a little shake up in the kitchen.

Best indian I've had in a while. Tikka Masala and chiken Korma were great, very authentic, with huge portions of nan bread and rice. Went here twice in one week, liked it so much. Atmosphere is fine, a little worn. Service was attentive but slightly abrupt - probably more to do with the businesslike attitude more than intentional. Really good, would definately go again. Very good prices for the portions.

One of the most disappointing meals I’ve ever had, and certainly the worst 'Indian' meal. Vegetable samosas so greasy that there was literally a pool of oil on the plate. Worse, the oil was either rancid or burned so they were totally inedible. The two vegetable dishes tasted exactly the same: a random combination of spices which were not cooked properly and left a powdery coating on the mouth and teeth! Tiny portions - we're talking a couple of mushrooms, half a carrot and about 10 peas! I would have been better off with a couple of Indian ready-meals at Marks and Spencer - far superior cuisine at a fraction of the price! Finally, although I booked online, I was not given the discount they advertised. The only positive thing I can say about this place is that they did not charge me for the rancid samosas I sent back. Still, the meal cost an outrageous €40 - for two vegetarian dishes, 1 rice, 1 nan, a mineral water and glass of wine.... I’m shocked at how they can get by selling food of such low standard at such high prices. They must have a really low opinion of their customers. If I could give no stars (or negative stars) I would.
