I am a frequent diner at Greenes but this is my first review! We had overseas guests with us and all of the party of 6 agreed that it was the best food we had eaten for a long time! We had the 'early bird' menu at €27 for 4 courses. All of the food was excellent but we all agreed that the mussels were 'perfect'. The service was very good and we did not feel rushed in any way. We had a nice table by the window/waterfall & my only complaint was that the noise level was high but due to numbers eating & enjoying themselves. In this bleak times, it was nice to see lots of 'happy' people out for dinner on a Wed night.

Been to Greenes a good few times in the last few years - indeed it is one of our 'standards'. Probably one of only 3 or 4 restaurants in Cork we would frequent often. The restaurant is hidden off Macurtain Street - look for the Isaacs Restaurant and then follow the little alleyway on the side. The location is wonderful - right next to a little waterfall. If celebrating something romantic do book and ask them for the table facing the waterfall. The food is pretty good - more imaginative than a lot of places in Cork. Even the well-known, well-loved dishes are generally well-cooked and tasty. Their potato and leek soup is one of the best I've ever had; I spent months trying to re-create it at home. For veggies it is decent, and makes a change from Cafe Paradiso. There is always one or two fish options too, and the obligatory steak. They often have an early-bird menu too, which is decent enough. Service is good. Worth a visit, and unless you want a steak or a burger it beats the next-door Isaacs hands down.

Very pleased with my first visit to Greene's. Professional service, very efficient. Food was very good; nice range of food on menu without being overly broad. The Early Bird menu looks to represent fantastic value, and while we ate a la carte, I was allowed to choose a main from the Early Bird menu and was surprised when the bill arrived, as they had charged the much cheaper Early Bird price, for what was essentially an a la carte main, albeit a different fish. Nice touch. Nice selection of wines by the glass too. Atmosphere is intimate, quiet and relaxing, with a lovely waterfall feature outside. Will definitely return.

Three of us dined at Greene's last Wednesday and it was the first time here for all of us. Our first impressions were positive. We were professionaly greeted and quickly seated. Two of us dined from a set menu and one from the a la carte. The set menu was somewhat limited but for a very comeptitive price that was totally understandable. The a la carte was extensive and priced accordingly. Service was excellent if a tad rushed. The quality of the food was good but to be honest the three of us found the flavours somewhat bland. For a Wednesday night it seemed quite busy and the atmosphere was good. We did enjoy our meal and we will probably dine there again but only after checking out a few other restaurants first.

Excellent meal in this restaurant. Starter was a venison sausage. Main was beautiful scallop dish. Dessert was a devine chocolate melting pudding with raspberry sorbet. I would go back just for the dessert alone! Exceptionally good! The service was polite and efficient. The pictures on the walls were nice and there is a massive waterfall outside the window. The atmosphere is quiet and intimate. Unfortunately, we were at a table that had an emergency exit door directly behind it. It was so close that my chair hit the push handle and opened it a jar. That is the only fault I can find with the restaurant really!

So Disappointed, 1st of many xmas parties.. I arrived 2 minutes late for a 6.45 booking.. no rush in getting us to our table....., 2 of the 15 cancelled last minute and 5 late do to traffic, staff went on and on about us being late and we would not be able to get the early bird menu. (none of this was explained on booking of the restaurant), at the entrance and again to me as we sat for our meal, We had our meal which i have to say was lovely, great flavours and brillant presentation. asked for the bill to be told see that we had been charged for 15 people and not the 12 that had eaten. Had to have more discussion with the staff. The staff member explained that there was a more people waiting on our table and that they had to hold our table and so losing business. there was 3 table empty as we were eating. and the restaurant was just empty as i left at 9.10. I have to say i am so disappionted with this restaurant food is brillant but some of the staff are very rude.

Overall I would recommend it but I had issues with some of the food. First. Location - excellent, on McCurtain street. No on site parking so factor this in if you ar brining a car. The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated and comfortable. Staff are very attentive and professional. Food is beautifully presented. To begin, I had rilette of duck. The duck texture was unappetising & bordered on tasteless. For my main course, I had scallops with pork belly and mashed potato with vegetables. Absolutely delicious. Three of the juciest, tastiest, sweetest scallops topped a thin slice of flavoursome pork belly. Couldn't fault it. The deconstructed Tiramisu for dessert is a mess. Essentially this is Tiramisu that you must construct yourself on the plate. Ate it all, but disliked the concept. In future Greenes, just make a good Tiramisu and serve it. When i go out, I like my food to arrive at table prepared, not pay €8 to do it myself. Despite my starter and dessert disasters I would recommend this restaurant for certain, it's very nice. Typically, starters average at €10, mains at €22 and deserts at €8.

Four of us went for the early bird dinner on Sat evening which cost €27 per person while visiting Cork. The location and setting of the restaurant was lovely. The menu was quite typical for an early bird but in general a good selection was available. The service was prompt (too prompt and eager; we didn't have time to breathe between courses or after finishing before plates being whipped away) . The starters were ok - soup and an average ham hock terrine For the main course I had plaice which arrived with chips. It was dry, tasteless and utterly mundane. In fact it was downright shocking food to be served by a restaurant of its supposed calibre. Only for we had other people with us I would have complained immediately. As it was I left half of it behind. My other half had lamb shank which was very good. For desert all four of us chose sticky toffee pudding, two of which arrived with the tops sliced off them. Odd we thought until we discovered they were overcooked and burnt and they had obviously tried to disguise this by cutting parts of it away. The sauce was scarce which meant the remainder of the puddings were too dry and tasted burnt throughout. We had coffees to finish which arrived three together and then a five minute gap before the fourth arrived (the only gap of the evening). In all I would not recommend this restaurant for food, value or service. This is the first time I had felt compelled to write a review and it is with regret that hard earned money was spent here.

We ate here as part of “Dine In Cork-Restaurant Week” – they had a three course menu for €25… The food was outstanding… I had the goats cheese to start and my partner had the Prawns, Leeks, Mushrooms Tart which was to die for…. For main I had the Coq au Vin which was cooked to perfection and my partner had the steak (there was no additional charge for steak)… I had the lemon cake for dessert which was a perfect ending to a perfect meal…. The restaurant itself if lovely, the staff are friendly….. I would recommend this as a must for any foodies visiting Cork

I had a really good meal here which was unfortunately let down by the service. Our waitress asked for our orders though we clearly were not ready to order and when we did order she was not impressed when we explained we were not ready to order our desserts at the same time as starters and mains. I was not sure why she wanted that order as we booked for 7.30 which is not late. For starters I had the smoked salmon roulade with potato and leek salad which I thoroughly enjoyed and my dining friend had the smoked chicken springroll. I'm told was also really good. For main we had steak requested and served medium rare and a lamb shank. The meals were both generous in portion but also really tasty. I had a lemon sponge cake with lemon curd ice cream for starters which was amazing. They were really busy on the night with one barmaid and two waitresses and I can understand slow service when they were as busy as they were but I cannot understand unfriendly service or why the barmaid never left the counter to help the two waitresses. Over all I would return because I thought the food was of a high standard and very good value for money but I would hope the bad service was a one off bad busy night for the service team.

we went to Greene's on two local recommendations and to say the least we were very disappointed with our experience. Our table was beside the door to the toilets (I suppose someone has to be but the partition beside us only served to create a draught from the corridor)... my husband sitting opposite me for the evening said he had a 'wonderful' view of people hanging around beside the door! in relation to the meal, we were excited and hungry when we arrived. we were offered an amouse bouche which consisted of a fish croquette and beurre blanc... starters were tiger prawns in beurre blanc (yes, same sauce as appetiser)and duck confit...just about okay...arrived suspiciously quickly at the table. our mains courses were fillet steak which came as ordered..my main course was sea bass with |(yes, you've guessed it - the same sauce we had already tasted twice!) very heavy handed crab mash (which inccidentally didn't taste like there was any crab in it!) We were very disappointed with the meal and definitely everything was delivered to the table a little too quickly overall. BUT by far the most annoying experience was the VERY LOUD piano music which was blaring and amplified throughout our meal. We asked for it to be turned down but unfortunately the understanding staff said they would 'try and ask' but couldn't promise anything... We left immediately after our main course because of the food and the ambience and told the staff when we were leaving our views. All in all, a desperate night which cost us dearly (especially as we had paid €50 on a return taxi journey from our hotel). I will not be returning and wouldn't be recommending it either...staff were friendly but the meal wasn't up to the standard...

Booked this restaurant for a special night out with my husband and his parents who were visiting for the weekend. We did get a lovely table by the window with full view of the waterfall as requested. However this was spoiled by the fact that there was another party of 4 almost sitting on top of us. There was a slight gap between the tables, but it was enough for the smaller waiting staff to slide past sideways which they did all night instead of walking around. We received out menus and were reading through it for a few minutes when the waitress came over and asked if we were ready when it was quite clear with all 4 menus open on the table that we were not. I asked for a few more minutes as my father in law did not have appropriate glasses with him so we were reading through it for him. Approx.3 mins later, the waitress returned, again it was clear we were not ready. When I asked for another few minutes, she threw her eyes skywards and walked off...not a good start but I was keeping an open mind. We ordered and received starters which were nicely presented but my veal and my husbands scallops were overcooked. The mains followed much too quickly after the starters, my mother-in-law and I ordered monkfish which was extremely overcooked but the sauce was nice so it was edible. For dessert my husband and I ordered the Chocolate pudding which was cooked to order...essentially a chocolate muffin style dessert with melted chocolate in the centre. When it arrived out I had to scrape off burned pieces from the top and when I put the spoon into it, there was little or no melted chocolate, it had been so overcooked. My husbands was slightly better. Generally I would have sent back the dishes but didn't want to make a big deal since we were treating our guests. All in in a very disappointing experience from every aspect despite the excellent reputation. Will not be going back or recommending to anyone else.

We ate here for our Xmas lunch and it was fabulous! Everyone only had good things to say about the meal. It cost €27 for 4 courses. I had spiced beef for starter, stteak for main and creme brulee for dessert and it was gorgeous!

Hi, A group of about 20 of us came here for our Xmas Party meal last week. We had two large tables by the waterfall and ordered from the set menu. I had the spiced beef for starters, 3-way beef for mains and cheesecake for dessert. I absolutely loved my meal, thought it was delicious and the portions were very generous! One comment I did have was that for vegetarians (of which we had a number in our group) the only option were butternut squash, which was the only dish for both starters (butternut soup) and mains. The service was fab and we had a great night. Already looking at coming here again soon!

Ate here with two friends during Dine in Cork week (4 courses for €25). The atmosphere was wonderful, lovely decor, very calm and relaxing, live pianist playing. We had seats by the window near the waterfall so great view too. The staff were great, very attentive, polite, and friendly. A bit quick bringing out the courses though - we didn't have much time to chat between courses - but they were very busy so I think that's excusable. The food was excellent - I had the chowder, the seabreem, and the flourless torte. Couldn't fault it - full of flavour and very well presented. Will definitely come again. A great place to bring visitors to Cork.

Ate here on the early bird menu last week and overall it was a good experience and decent value for money but not very exciting. I loved the entrance to the restuarant, flanked by a waterfall on the the left, pretty cool. The interior is nice enough. I personally dont like battery operated candles on tables, but possibly nit picking there. Service was very good. Prompt and polite. We did ask the waitresses opinon on a wine from wine menu and i dont think she had a clue but she was very nice. First course was the only disappointing one. I got smoked mackeral an a kind of chunky potato salad and i would describe it as a very lazy dish. Very unsastifying. My friend had mussels and they were good. For main course i ordered pork belly. It was real comfort food. Served with mashed potatoes and a very tast gravy and cabbage with bacon lardons. Tasty but quite heavy and I didnt come near finishing the rather large portion. My only gripe with this dish was that I'd have preferred the pork to have been a bit crispier. Again, I had a taste of my friend's. She got smoked haddock on baby potatoes and chorizo and the fish was really nice. Very fresh. We both had Creme Caramel for dessert and it was good. Perfect sized portion to top off the meal. We had tea and coffee, all included in the 28euro early bird menu No rush on us to leave after. It was all in all a very pleasant evening. Good value for money, not outstanding. I'd probably go there again but I could think of a few place i'd go first.

enjoyed a meal here with my boyfriend. 5 stars all the way. the atmosphere was relaxed with a talented girl playing the piano and singing. i can't remeber my starter but my main was the sirloin steak cooked meduim, and it was fantastic. mouth watering just thinking about it. my dessert was the warm chocolate pudding, delicious, if i could i would have had a second one :). value for money, yes very much so, got a top notch meal, great service and a beautiful atomsphere. i suggest saving up for this night out so you can enjoy your meal with a nice bottle of wine

We had a work dinner here one night. the atmosphere is superb. the Waterfall is great to set the evening off. Staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. the only fault i would find was that personally i am a plain eater and found there wasn't a huge choice for me but the restaurant itself is superb. wouldn't hesitate in recommending it.

Myself and a friend ate in Greenes last sunday night. It was such a beatiful day we had a drink outside by the waterfall before our meal( where else could you do that in cork?). The food was very good as was the service. The staff were very friendly. I had the goats cheese for starter and the monkfish for maincourse which I would have again. In fact I can't wait to go back. Thanks to everyone for a lovely night.

We ate here during the Eat Out in Cork week. The regular menu was fine, although the garlic in my starter proved rather over-powering for a couple of days afterwards. However, having been assured that there was a coeliac menu, we arrived on the night to find it was not available. The coeliac member of our party had to choose something from the regular menu with half the dish left out because she couldn't eat it, which was less than satisfactory. The worst part of the experience was the doubling of our drinks bill, which wasn't explained very convincingly (apparently the non-existent second order of drinks - thereby doubling our wine, water, and mineral order - was added to the bill "by mistake"). The staff didn't seem to be very bothered by the fact that our enjoyable evening ended on a negative note, and I don't suppose they'll miss our custom, as we won't be going back there very soon.

I have only just come back from a lovely meal and night in Greeen's. I actually won the meal in the "Dine in Cork" competition, and my husband and I really enjoyed the night. The service was very as was the food. Thank you all for a great meal.

I took advantage of the special offer of a 4 course meal for €25, as part of restuarant week in Cork. I wasn't disappointed, my chowder starter was excellent, the duck for main was good and I don't often eat desert but I sampled my 2 friends deserts as well as my own and they were all really good. The staff couldn't be faulted and even gave us free refills of coffee. I hope to go back to order from the full menu sometime in the future.

This was my first time eating here after it was recommended by a friend who lives in the area as one of the best places to go for a nice dinner. While it was nice enough I felt it wasn't really worth the money. I booked a couple of weeks in advance but still we were squashed into a tiny corner at the window with barely any space, it felt like myself and my boyfriend were sitting at a tiny school desk eating our meal. We didn't go for the early bird, just ordered from the normal dinner menu and found it pretty expensive while the food was nice. I had the prawns for starter and he had the lamb sausage - i think he got the better starter there as my prawns weren't great. Then i had the sea bass and he had the rib eye - all nice food but thought the fish was over priced. I'll definitely go back and give it a second chance but was just pretty disappointed with our table more than anything else as it's a lovely setting but I just don't enjoy paying so much for the food when i'm barely able to move at my table!

I visited Greenes Restaurant for the first time on Monday night. It was the Cork Restaurant week and Greenes were offering a 4 course meal for €25. When we arrived, the waitress could not find our reservation but she quickly dealt with the situation and we were seated after waiting a few minutes. The starter was a goat’s cheese spring roll that was delicious. However, the main course was very disappointing. I ordered the smoked haddock and the plate that arrived contained the tail end of the fish and a handful at most of chopped baby potatoes and very dry gubben chorizo. I have never seen the tail end of a fish being served before and I have never had such a meagre main course. I was relieved that dessert was to follow. My boyfriend had duck leg and he was happy with the quantity of his main course. Dessert was good (chocolate torte) but I left the restaurant barely full and usually I’m stuffed after a meal out! If Greenes are unwilling to participate in the Cork restaurant week to their usual standard, perhaps they should abstain!

This was my 2nd time eating at Greenes, we had the early bird menu both times. The 1st time I could not fault the restaurant, it was extremely good hence why we booked again. This time I was disappointed. The food was not as good quality as the previous visit, I had a tartlet to start which was fine, and the rib eye steak, which was not great quality. it was disappointing as the time before I had such a good experience.

Had a wonderful meal here last week. Great atmosphere for a Tuesday night. Staff were very pleasant and the service was neither too fast or too slow. Amuse Bouche was croquette with red cabbage. Delicious. The wild boar sausage was devine as was the fish cake which tasted like it was bound with risotto rather than potatoe. Really creamy. The seabass and monkfish mains had delicious complimenting accompaniments. Only disappointment was the side order of veg. Cauliflour broccili and carrot - a bit uninventive and boring in comparison to the great menu.

2nd time here and it was just as good as the first. The only downside was the waitress could not find our reservation when we arrived and we were left sitting without menus. However, the meal was again fab - a goats cheese starter to share between 2 was perfect, after a cupfull of soup as an amuse bouche. Mains for four were all fillet steaks, each perfectly cooked with bernaise butter. Too full for desert my friends feasted on creme brulee and pavlova. Yum, but I have tasted better. All good though!

I have eaten here on many occasions as part of business dinners usually and i must say i just don't get the hype regarding this restaurant. I don't think the food warrants the price tag and the service is at best lukewarm. One shouldn't have to ask 3 times to order wine in a restaurant like this!

My friends and I went down to Cork for a hen party and we stayed in Hotel Issacs. We booked a table in Greenes for 9pm thinking it would be just your usual hotel food - but we were absolutely blown away! It is tucked neatly behind the Hotel with a beautiful waterfall outside, on arrival we were entertained by a fantastic piano player in the lobby whilst they got our table ready. The atmosphere was buzzing and there was great energy. The food was outstanding - I had the beef which was cooked to perfection and one of the best steaks I have ever tasted - great wine, service and the price was reasonable. Fantastic experience - will definitely return!

My family and I went here for Christmas eve lunch. When we rang to reserve, we were told they don't do tables for six (there was only 5 of us but we wanted a roomier table) so we booked a table for five later that day. A while after we were seated at our table of 5, numerous other parties of 6 arrived and were seated at tables for six. Not a good start. Starters were quite good with mushroom soup and a goats cheese tart some of the available options, both went down well at our table. The main course however was less enjoyable. While the food itself was quite nice, my brother and I both got the steak which appeared to be drenched in salt and pepper, something I've never experienced before. The potatoes that came with it were similarly drenched in salt and pepper, making the whole dish very hard to eat. The steak itself was lovely, but was ruined by the over seasoning. Desserts were lovely, although the berry pudding was more pudding than berries. Overall, the food could be great if they just laid off the salt and pepper a bit. It really ruined my mains and I wouldn't rush back or return at all!

Visited here with four others & everyone had a faultless meal. I had the fishcakes to start as did two of the other, they are divine! Also the prawns looked delicious. I had the monkfish as a main, it was served with a pumpkin risotto & thought it was the nicest id tasted. Didn't have time for dessert but we were wishing we did so will definately be returning! Would highly recommend this restaurant!

Went here with my boyfriend and was very impressed. We shared the wild boar sausage as a starter which was delicious. I had the roast chicken and he had the 8oz steak. Both were cooked perfectly and were of high quality. All in all a great meal. Would definately return here!

I ate here last week and was extremely impressed. I and my friends all went for the early bird menu which includes 3 course for just 28 euro. I had a goats cheese tartlet to start which was delicious. I then chose steak for mains which was perfectly cooked accompanied with wonderful potatoe gratin. For dessert i relished berry and apple crumble-would definitely reccomed a visit to this restaurant!

I was very happy with my meal here. The food was delicious and the music playing added to the atmosphere. The staff were very nice. However, although they were attentive at the start, towards the end we had to call them over a few times. We had a lovely seat beside the waterfall. However, because of the lack of space, I was at the side of the table which meant I could not sit under the table properly. A few minor disappointments, but otherwise I enjoyed it.

Suprised at the other reviews. I didn't find this restaurant to be great. It was an average meal. Found menu v. limited. Starters were nicers than main courses. I was also suprised that it was dead on the Sat of the Jazz weekend. Then again our reservation was for 9.00. Nice but won't be rushing back. Husband also disapointed with the mens toliets. Mentioned that thy were not very clean. Bad sign for a restaurant!

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Cork. On this occasion, we had the early bird menu which is good value. I had the Greenes salad for starters which was simple and the portion was big. For my main course I had the steak which was lovely. I felt the portion sizes have increased from my last visit. The service and ambience was lovely as always. I was a bit disappointed with the bread as it is generally freshly made and there’s an interesting selection but on this occasion it was basic white baguette and brown bread. Overall, a lovely meal and the seven who ate with me agreed.

What a lovely little find - very tasty food here.. i dont think i have tasted lamb so succulent before.. excellent service but they need to bring their prices down just a touch .. our meal was slightly disrupted by the table of 4 next to us who were complaining about the way their steaks were cooked - ( they didnt think rare meant rare) and they were being VERY rude to the waiting staff which was frustrating to watch as they were so lovely and attentive - i hope the Maitre D barred that shower... anyway - impressive wine list also... didnt get to the desserts though.. coffee was vg too..

Myself and my boyfriend stayed in Issac's hotel last weekend and chanced getting a place in the restaurant at about 7.30pm. Luckily we got squeezed in and got to order off the early bird menu. we had two courses for €22 with a glass of wine and a pint of carlsberg. We both had the sirloin steak and chocolate mouse dessert. Steak ordered medium and they were on the more cooked side of medium (irish style steak cooking) which was perfectly fine. Came with a delicious pepper sauce and potato dauphinoise. The dessert was a frozen mousse which was slightly too frozen but still lovely. Service was great and the setting was very nice. Even though we were slightly underdressed it didnt seem it matter to anyone.

the setting of this restaurant is lovely and ideal for a romantic dinner, ther service is very good and the staff are friendly, i ordered the steak well done and i was disappoited at what i received, portion sizes are very small and i felt that because i ordered a well done steak i didnt get as good a cut. Quite expensive.

I went to Greene's last Friday night for a good quality romantic meal and that is pretty much what I got although it was fairly expensive. I am used to paying Dublin prices and this was about the same. The setting was very nice and the service very polite and helpful. There was quite a nice variety on the menu and the quality was good. The only downside was I had no room for a Murphy's afterwards!

Sadly, although I'd booked & confirmed this through MenuPages (and have never had a problem with bookings made through MenuPages before), the restaurant had no trace of my booking, and furthermore (more to the point) were unbelievably unfriendly about same. Although the seemed to have spare tables that evening, we declined to dine there and instead went elsewhere. A shame, because I wanted to visit. We did have breakfast there the next morning (and this is what I'm basing my food & atmosphere marks on) and that was fine, nothing spectacular but ok.

My Husband and I ate here during the week and I have to say it was absolutely delicious. The service was top notch and the food even better. The Fish Cakes as a starter were divine, the steak was cooked exactly as requested and the Pavlova was beautiful. All in all it was one of the best dinners i've had in a long time. It would seem that Greenes has become more price aware from the last time I dined there about two years ago. There was definately value for money and looking around it seemed that everybody there was enjoying themselves. The waiting staff were extremely attentive which isn't something you come across every day, it was nice for a change.

Went to Greens on the recommendation of family and friends and reviews from this website. Whats all the fuss about. Very disappointed with the food overall. Not at all to the standard I was expecting. Crab claws were doused in sauce, the crusted lamb was anything but and tough, I could go on. The service was very good with staff very helpful and friendly. Luckily there was the English Market the following morning where I bought as much fresh cheese and fish my car boot would allow and returned home to prepare a fest for my family!

I went here with friends for the early bird option one Saturday evening. It was really good value and the food was excellent. Our table was looking out onto the waterfall and there was a lady playing the piano behind us which created a lovely atmosphere throughout the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and after we noticed a slight mix up with the bill were very apologetic.

Hello, On arrival and throughout our meal the staff were very polite, friendly and attentative. The food was absolutley delicious and cooked to how you asked. We had a table which was looking out on the waterfall which is amazing, a little cramped though but that is fine. Complementary entree from the chef which was a pleasant surprise. Would go back again and again. Price, as always they could do a little better. Overall, well worth the experience. Arrive hungry as there is a lot of food.

I went here with my boyfriend for the early bird menu. It was very good value in terms of food. unfortunately when we arrived on time for our booking our table was not ready. We were put sitting on a table which was very squashed against the wall, so much so that my chair was actually moved out into the aisle to make room. The waterfall feature was under construction which was a ptiy as that is very pretty. we were looking right onto the construction work which was very messy. The food was excellent, not the best ive ever had there but certainly value for money. I would go back for another early bird. not so sure if id push the boat out for the a la carte though!!

My partner and I chose Greene's based on the ecstatic Menupages reviews and weren't let down. If anything they should have a special 6 star rating for this place :) Our friendly host took our jackets and showed us to our table, right next to a massive window looking out onto a waterfall. Already a great start. Onto the food, starters of feta and basil tart and chicken thigh with pesto potato salad were both light and tasty and devoured in seconds (we were hungry, not savages). The mains were even better, I ordered the sirloin steak, cooked to perfection and served with honestly the best potato gratin i've ever tasted and himself had a massive fillet of salmon that I was told was too good to share ;) Deserts of chocolate pudding and lemon tart, were obviously winners too. Service was great all night, professional and attentive. Afterwards we relaxed in the bar while finishing our wine. At €80 for two 3 course meals and a great bottle of wine (the house cotes du rhone btw), the night was reasonably priced and when the quality is taken into account, it's unbeatable.

Greenes delivers a flawless dining experience, consistently providing exceptional, locally sourced food, superlative service, elegant décor and exquisite presentations. Every detail that surrounds the experience is attended to; soaring warehouse-style ceilings, exposed brick walls, and big windows overlooking a waterfall. The attraction here is the modern, understated cuisine, with perfectly cooked seafood being a specialty. The menu is expansive, and also caters well for those who do not love seafood as much as I do. The modern food and décor do not take away from the atmosphere, which is equally suited for both intimate meals, and larger occasions. Definitely a place you'll find yourself returning to again and again and you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I went to Greene's while on holiday from America. We were looking for a romantic dinner place. While at a local shop someone suggested Greene's. From the moment we arrived we were presented with nothing less than polite and gracious service. The wine suggested by the waiter complimented our dinner perfectly. We enjoyed the ambience so much that we relaxed at the restaurant for over 2 hours with the attentative staff inquiring to our needs when appropriate. We would absolutely recommend this establishment to anyone seeking an enjoyable evening.

Fab restaurant, excellent food..definitely exceeded our expectations. We were impressed with the quality - there are lots of healthy options on the menu which I as a holistic health counsellor appreciated. There were a lot of items on the menu that I would have like to try - will be back again.

Had a meal in Greenes thursday evening with my girlfriend. Was very busy at the time but the service was excellent.Great view of the waterfall at night especially with a table by the window.Tried chargrilled asparagus as starter and my girlfriend had sea bass as main course. Both our meals were lovely and presented very well.Good value for money. Had no dessert but will be back to try again sometime.

To arrive in Greenes leaving the buzz of MacCurtain St with its eclectic mix of shops, bars and theatre is equivalent to the calm after a storm. We were greeted warmly by the female maitre'd. From reading previous reviews we requested a table which overloooked the magnificent water cliff It was magical with the Christmas tree all lit up in the centre of the water pool. The food did not disappoint either, my husband even tried the kangaroo starter ! Staff were attentive and unobtrusive. Atmosphere was relaxed. My only issue was the wine which is overpriced for some of the ordinary reds. Definitely a place however to go for a special meal and highly recommended.

When we arrived I was forced to squeeze into my seat as it was somewhat cramped but apart from that I cannot praise this restaurant enough. It had everything - Great food, excellent service and a casual relaxed atmosphere. One of the best meals I've ever had. If you are booking for two, ask for the widow seat next to the waterfall. First place I'll be back to when in Cork again.

The menu is nice and varied, the food is outstanding. The atmosphere is really nice, and the service is friendly. The wine was of a high standard and they catered for the unusual.. my fiancee had a wheat intollerence at the time and asked for some gluten free selections.. she was very happy and to top it off, they brought over a selection of freshly baked gluten free bread that actually tasted like 'real' bread ;) Nice for a romantic night out or groups, the seating is nice and spacious :)

Really great food, & great attention to detail, enjoyed the atmosphere. Excellent selection of drinks, cant beat the cheeseboard with that fine vintage port! Portions small enough but food is so rich in flavour that you still end up quite fulfilled with what you get. Lovely setting. Would recommend for a special occasion. A little pricey but worth it.

We had a work night out here and everyone agreed the food was unreal, there was choice's that satisfied everyone, and the staff were very accomodating too. The only slight downside was the dessert menu, wasn't really the best, (I'm a cheesecake enthusiast). All in all we had a great night and Id definitely be going back for the Fillet Steak.

Service excellent- Food excellent to very Good- Portions small- Early Bird Very Very Good Value BUT the selection available with this package is very limited. By choice I would not return often for this offer. I would have expected to have better choice. The same applies to Sunday Lunch. A nice place to go to maybe one or twice a year Christmas Lunch very bad value indeed.

Food of good quality, but at these prices, to be expected. Service excellent, good restaurant to come to for a special occasion. Not as spectacular as I would expect.
