Went in here on Mothers day and the place was about a quarter full. Tables were covered in dirty glasses and plates. The bar was covered in glasses. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated and given our menus. We then had to ask three times to put in our order. My little girl had pizza and absolutely loved it but the rest of the food was so bland there was no taste at all of it. We were very disappointed with the experience however on the upside because it was mothers day I got my meal free which was a lovely idea but we won't be rushing back anytme soon.

this resturant is really nice fully of atmosphere and is perfect for parties and special occasions.the staff are really freindly and are well able to cope with large groups of people. the music that is played in the resturant is quite loud so it is hared to hear other people but it is perfect for parties.the food is really good value for what you get so perfect for studients.they have a good rang to suit any taste from burgurs to fish to pasta and even more.i would recommend it to any large group of people.

I went here with a few of the girls for a meal before a night out... I have to say it was appalling... Apart from the nachos which would have done as a main course, the rest was terrible. I had chicken goujons to start which were greasy and clearly cheap frozen ones. For main course I had, what was supposed to be a chicken burger of some sort, a piece of dried up shrivelled chicken on a bun that was too big and loaded with salad to try cover the fact that there was no chicken! It was so dry and stringy and there was hardly no sauce. Very very poor. In fact if someone could not cook I would expect better! The service was terrible also, the guy who was not Irish (pretty sure he was either English or Australian... hard to tell with his huffing and puffing). At once stage while one of my friends was in the middle of eating he literally tried to remove the plate from her asking her was she finished. In which she was very angry and expressed this to him. He was rushing us the whole night and was very uncomfortable... Also we got a giant cocktail which was purely cola... I know this because we drank almost the full 5 litres or whatever it was and were still sober but merely left with a toothache. I would not recommend this to anyone and the only nice thing is the actual look of the place. Other than that don't waste your money it's shocking.

It is difficult to choose a relatively healthy option on this menu, and although I have no aversion to fat for the sake of taste, the food here is typically loaded with grease, and what's more, the portion sizes are enormous. The lashings of grease do nothing to add to the taste, which is simply bland. I am a lover of spice and I had chicken fajitas on one occasion, and cajun salmon on another, and I was disappointed at the lack of flavour. The service was also disappointing, as I was left waiting for the drink and refills for a considerable time. The service staff passed by the table numerous times and never once checked in with my friend and I.

The service was great and speedy, atmostphere is good there but depite the food being tasty the size of the chicken fajitas wouldn't fill you after a Munster final!! The last wrap was practically all onion but other than the helping everything was great about it. Was quite tasty and as I said service and atmosphere was great!

Brilliant place to eat! fun, relaxed environment and the service is great. i got the barbeque burger and got the bbq sauce on the side so i could pour it over my burger and dip chips in it. got the chocolate brownie for dessert. it came with chocolate fudge sauce and cream and ice cream. amazing! had an americano as well which complimented the dessert nicely. i had a buy one get one free voucher so the meal was great value you really come out of there feeling stuffed!

It's a great place atmospherewise and the service was terrific, yet I can't keep thinking how in the last year it's gone a bit downhill, not as much in touch with it's former glory....I went at lunchtime though,so it may be better come dinner?

Was here with a hen party of 17. Having been to the Dublin branch on a number of occasions and always being disappointed I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food at the Cork branch. My potato skin starter was scrumptious and the veggie lasagne was pretty decent too. It's a good place for large parties starting a night out. Good waiting staff too.

This is the ideal spot to start a night out! Great atmosphere, plenty of room for groups. the food is very reasonable and very tasty. i Had the chicken with chips. very comfortable place. Cocktails can be ordered which again is good for a night out on the town. very central spot in town.

Got the Nacho's and Ribs here last week. The ribs were delicious and very reasonable 12 euro, while the nacho's were nice they didn't match the ribs. My girlfriend got the bruschetta which she loved and the chicken parmesan which was only average. Cool decor though.

I would go here on quite a regular basis as the food is quite tasty and at an affordable price. They recently changed the menu, however, which was quite annoying as my friend used to always get a veggie burger. The last time we went in there, the veggie burger was gone and, as a vegetarian, she was left with very little choice. There is a good lunch menu here- and with a main course and a drink for €9.95, you cannot go wrong. One word of warning- always come here hungry as the portions are absolutely HUGE!

Great food, good service. Not as good an atmosphere as Captain A's in Dublin. Always good value and the start to a night out with pitchers of cocktails.

Huge portions that leave you too satisfied. Friendly staff make the dining experience a relaxing one. Tables are well spaced out with various memorabilia to keep one occupied whilst waiting for food. The dishes that our group liked most were the New Yorker burger, scampi, and the large portions of bbq ribs. The highlight of course was the large mug of malt/milkshake! And having a bar with a large selection of cocktails don't hurt either!

This is a great venue for large groups. 18 of us ate here for a friends birthday last night and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Good cocktails, decent food and good service coupled with an enjoyable atmosphere, made for a very pleasant beginning to a night out. I had the Chicken Fajitas, served with guacemole, sour cream and salsa accompanied by a rather substantial side salad. I also had a Long Island Iced Tea and for dessert we had a shared dessert of "volcano cakes" (Mounds of vanilla ice cream with chocolate brownies arrange to look like a volcano topped with chocolate syrup) The fajitas at €12.95 were nice and spicy, although 2 tortilla wraps wasn't enough for the amount of filling provided. I needed at least 3 or 4 wraps. The flavours were excellent and the crunchy texture of peppers and onions balanced the dish well. The dessert at about €4.20 per person was far too sweet for my liking but in an American style eatery super sweet desserts are to be expected, and in any case this was ordered by the birthday so I'd no choice in the matter. The Long Island Iced Tea was okay, but not the best I've had. It could have been more potent for the price of €7.95 Thje service was a little frosty, not rude, but cold. The service staff didn't seem too interested in their customers, and we weren't asked once if our food was ok. The water jugs weren't refilled when emptied, only on request and even then it took 15 mins. I was convinced they were manufacturing water in a lab. All in all a great party venue, and with just a few slight improvements, could be THE place to be.

I ate here at the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I ate there with two other friends. I was a bit apprehensive as it was a Saturday evening but even though it was busy the waiter made us feel very much appreciated. He was very friendly and the food was served quickly. I had the chicken in cream sauce. It was delicious. Both my friends had the enchilladas and agreed they were delicious also. We thoroughly enjoyed sipping our cocktails while dining in the this casual, friendly and reasonably priced restaurant. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Ok for a large party maybe as you can get jugs of cocktails which are nice and portions are generous so it's not bad value for money. One problem, the food is extremely average, it could be any burger place plus it is very loud, tv screens everywhere you look not exactly a romantic setting for a meal if that's what you're looking for!

It does what its supposed to. The service is always rubbish and the food is only mediocre but it is filling and cheap. Try the cajun chicken burger, the sauce is yum. Desserts are a bit expensive but their offers are excellent for lunch etc. Def worth a try after a long day shopping

This is a good restaurant for a quick bite, There burgers are Really good, And there early bird and lunch menu's are real good offers. There portions are quite generous so value for money is a defo! Really nice desserts also, double chocolate cake is always a winner! and their Milkshakes are HUGE! you'd want to have a light meal before one of these! Think they should be shared! The restaurant is really cool also with all music and comic and Celebrity stuff about and the Fat boy Motorcycle over the bar is really cool!

Very dissappointed with this place. Service was terrible-our order was never given to the kitchen so we were left waiting for over half an hour before we enquired about our order. Second order wasn't taken properly either so we ended up leaving without eating.

Disappointing the food is really just chip shop standard and devoid of taste had the cajun chicken burger and was pretty flavourless. Have been here a few times for lunch but will probably stop. Price is ok good service but the food leaves the place down

OK place for a quick lunch or burger dinner, with a couple of beers. Don't go for a quiet meal or if you are in hurry. Service is patchy with young servers obviously busy with things going on elsewhere. The burgers are quite good though. Dont travel too far..

I went here with my husband for a late lunch on a Friday. It wasn't busy at all. Service was good, the waiter friendly. It may have been because my husband knew him, who knows... The table we sat down at wasn't properly cleaned yet but a waitress fixed that immediately. Both of us had a burger and a milkshake. The portions are massive, neither of us could finish the food. The quality of the burger was OK. The milkshake, however, wasn't only BIG but also very, very tasty. I would come back but not take a main course again if I was having a milkshake, would go for a starter instead because the portion sizes of the mains are so big.

Highly recommended. My cousin and I went in on Saturday evening without a reservation and were delighted to be seated quickly. The service was equally impressive - the waitresses couldn't do enough for us, they were cheerful and friendly and the food was served with amazing speed. The food was delicious, the portions large. We treated ourselves to a cocktail also, but found ourselves unequal to dessert, as tempting as they are. We were surprised at how reasonable the bill was also. Captain America's is definitely worth the visit.

Captain America's is as close as I've come so far to "American dining" in Cork. We arrived for a late lunch and were quickly seated, though it took some time before a server arrived to take our orders. The place itself is clean and visually interesting, with comfortable booths. I ordered a chocolate shake and my husband ordered a butterscotch malt. As an American transplant, I can happily report that their malts and shakes are passably "American style" - thick as they should be. I was not disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the menu offered meatless options, and I ordered the vegetarian enchilada, with a side salad instead of fries. The hubby ordered the New Yorker burger, with fries. Our food arrived amazingly fast and was presented very nicely. My husband said his burger was delicious, and I thought my enchilada and salad were quite good, too. For dessert, I ordered the cheesecake, which was a letdown (soft and weak in flavor), while my husband ordered the triple chocolate cake, which he said was good, but not great. I would return to Captain America's. I thought the lunch menu was just a little steep - our bill came to 47 euro before the tip. I wouldn't order the dessert again, but other than that, it was enjoyable for me, as the menu offered a decent variety of diner - type entrees.

A step up from the American diner, a type of Hard Rock Cafe in Cork City Centre. Up a flight up the stairs and your surrounded by all the Hard Rock style trappings. Booths are best for comfort. I had the Deluxe burger and it was the best burger I've had since the Standard in LA..terrific. It really is a great treat and I would go back again anytime.

Went to this restaurant on Sunday at 5.30pm with our 3 kids, aged 10, 6 and 1. They have high chairs suitable for one year up. The kids love the menu. They have crayons & sheets to colour to keep them happy. The food was excellent. And to top it off they had a clown type man who makes the most fabulous balloon items for the kids - Fabulous Would recommend - and food for adults is great too - yummy chocolate brownie & coffee

This is an upmarket fast food place. The decor mimics that of a 1960s American diner. The portions are huge as well. The service is so fast it's unbelievable. They give colours to the kids to keep them entertained. The menu is varied and there is a good choice... something for everyone's taste. It is reasonable enough for the size of the portions that you get but it is not fancy cuisine! The staff are friendly. All round it seems to be a good family restaurant.

Captain Americas is situated over Wagamamas in South Main Street and it's a diner type restaurant. The food is nice, the portions are very big though. We got the burgers last week and they were cooked to perfection and very tasty and accompanied with salad and wedges, ideal family restaurant as they cater excellently for children and is very child friendly. Nice for a Sunday dinner with all the family - would definitely return
