This place has a great buzz. It has a lovely selection of tasty dishes to suit any size appetite. It's good value for money. The service is very good. The only thing is it can be a bit uncomfortable to dine when it is very busy epecially if you are located in the main section along by the bar so better off going there at off peak times.

Went here with 6 friends and really enjoyed it. We ordered half the menu including the pate, the delicious crab croquetes, calamari and loads of veggi options too. The staff were very nice and accomadating and the place was buzzing. We had great seats in the front of house so although it was busy, we had our own little corner out of the way. The dessert menu consisted of 2/3 items so we just ordered from the good selection of cheeses. Overall very happy, ate till we were full and the price was suprisingly reasonable.

Went for tapas before going to a show at the everyman. I ordered the crab and avocado, which was a lovely combination of flavours. The hummous and bread para picar was ok, and the patatas bravas were enjoyable. The dessert menu was lacking so we went elsewhere for dessert. The surroundings were nice and relaxed, but it felt more like a cosy pub than a restaurant. I would definitely eat here again and would recommend it for a date or with friends.

I have to say this is a great little find! Perfect for a relaxed evening drinking delicious wine and really very good food. I love the tapas idea anyway, getting to try lots of different dishes. The portions are good, everything tasted fresh and flavoursome and I found the price was reasonable for what you get. Lovely service too.

This restaurant is buzzing most nights of the week, and with good reason. Tasty good value tapas, with an Irish twist, and a good selection of wines by the glass, pichet (250ml), caraffe (500ml), or bottle. (Surprisingly though not too many Spanish wines). Theres also a good beer selection. Highly recommended are the trio of mini burgers.

Simply but surprisingly amazing! I loved the crab cakes- so tender yet delectable!! The wines and cocktails are expensive but tenderising on the palate!! Defently a winner!

This is a great place to eat tapas and drink wine! The food is beautiful and the staff are very friendly and the service is excellent. It is very well priced for the amazing food you get. I love tapas and I love this restaurant, can't wait to go again.

Booked a table online for Saturday night. No-one got back to confirm booking, so had to ring. Initial impressions were not good. when we got there the place was empty because of weather related cancellations and of course this had an inpact on the atmosphere. That aside, we found the place to be a bit cold and the seating not very comfortable. We ordered a tasting platter and some extra dishes between three of us. It was disappointing not to be able to exchange any of the items on the tasting menu for something else. The food was ok. Patatas bravas lacked spiciness. Very nice wine recommended by our waitress. All in all, not bad. Slightly overpriced and a bit annoying to have to pay for small items (olives) that you would get free in a Spanish tapas bar

My friend and I had a lovely evening in Boqueria Saturday 6th November. Being recently new to Cork I haven't experienced many restaurants yet, however it is one of the best I've found so far. We got there early on in the evening and were seated at the bar due to all the tables being fully booked - we were informed to get a good seat on the weekend we need to book a few days in advance. This didn't matter seeing as all the action was at the bar. We had some great conversation with the very friendly bartender who even as the place filled up almost instantly she still served us with a smile and very patient manner even when she was obviously under pressure. We each enjoyed several of her delicious cocktails (best mojitos EVER!) to accompany our tapas tasting plate, tempura prawns and hanger steak. The food is amazing! The squid rings on the tapas plate were so tender it really was hard to believe it was squid. We spent a good few hours there lingering over our cocktails enjoying the wonderful atmosphere. It is definitely a restaurant I would highly recommend it for any sort of socialising from a few drinks with friends to the whole dining experience!

Had probably the best value meal of my life here a few weeks back, despite the totally confusted and disorganised staff! We rang to book and mentioned the Menupages offer which they said they never heard of, so as a precaution I printed the page and brought it. They still maintained they never heard of it on arrival but honored it when I produced the page. For €15 each, a total of €45, 3 of us got 6 bar bites, 6 tapas and 3 pichets of wine. The food was fab, even theough we couldnt finish it as there was so much. A recession buster if ever there was one. Highly recommended but bring the printout!

I ate here with 3 girlfriends a few weeks ago and it was a bit disappointing. The staff were very friendly but they forgot several dishes and then there was a flood in the kitchen and there was no flood in the kitchen - it was all very haphazard. The staff kept apologising over and over but still not coping very well. There was a large party that arrived and I think they clearly couldn't cope with the size of the group. It would make me reluctant to return however the food we did eat was very tasty and it's well priced.

My husband and I ate here last week and really enjoyed the experience. We have eaten tapas in other places outside of Spain and I must say that this was the best. The crab cakes were amazing! I would definitely recommend it, the wine was excellent as well as the food. It was also good value, two taste platters and two glasses of very good wine for less than €60. We came out of there full but not stuffed, a really good experience.

Came here last night with a few people for work. 2 of the group are vegetarians so this was a good option. We got one vegetarian tasting platter and two normal one. Food was lovely, although I didn't try any of the fish. When we ordered our second round with all of the items we liked, they didn't give us enough of each item for everyone at the table so some people couldn't try everything. The grilled Brie was delicious as were the Patatas. Atmosphere was top class also. I would recommend this place for snacks on a Friday night with some friends and wine. I wouldn't recommend it if you were starving and wanted a big meal. Would still come back though.

We were a bit wary of Boqueria as we had heard some bad reviews, but a friend arranged a meal here one night and we were pleasantly surprised. As other reviewers have said, the menu online is cheaper than the actual menu in the restaurant which is dissappointing, and the food is a little on the pricey side. However, the food was great - tasty, well presented, and imaginative. The atmosphere was brilliant and we loved the decor. The wines and cocktails were also good. Service was very friendly and efficient. Definitely the place to go for a light bite and a glass of wine on a Friday or Saturday night.

We had a voucher from this site so the meal was great value. Otherwise, I think that it is expensive for what you get. Also the space is very restricted and not very comfortable but the atmosphere was good. We had patatas bravas, the chicken wings and the serrano and cheese croquettes. The patatas were lovely and I really liked the croquettes event hough you could not get the serrano ham flavour...Now we were very disappointed with the chicken wings. They had a dry coating that it was difficult to swallow, like paprika or something. Not very pleasant. For desert we had the lemon mousse that was delicious and the chocolate pot which was nice. Im still not convinced by the food completely

I went there really because I had a voucher (from this site), hadn't been before so didn't know what to expect. I was just in time (terms of voucher) so was a little worried I was cutting it fine but staff were so so friendly and assured me it was ok and to take my time. The voucher was for a free carafe of wine and deserts when ordering tapas for two or four. Usually wine is not great when free but this was light, refreshing and very pleasant. The food came quite quickly and was interesting and tasty but a little cold. That didn't matter though as the atmosphere and service were second to none. They didn't have my choice of desert but offered me another on the house..thats quite rare in my opinion. I would definitely go back again.

Having had Tapas in Spain on numerous occasions I was in trepidation of "IRISH TAPAS" but not to worry, a wonderful night was had by all three diners. The was authentic and good. The tasting platter for one was too big and the meatballs were nice as was the chorizo in potato tart. Wine was good and reasonable-not cheap-but good. For a converted pub that has not changed in thirty years the ambiance is pleasing.

I had a belly of pork stuffed with apricots. It literally melted in my mouth. it was served with salsa verde on a bed of beans. Every flavour bounced off the other perfctly. the service was superb and the bill was very cheap. There are however no 'formal' dining tables as it is a wine bar setting. I would recommend anyone to go here.

Went here one night to try out the pre-theatre menu. Got the goat cheese salad with fig, and a tapas taster plate. I did not like the salad at all, because it was basically a large slice of goat cheese swimming in a bowl of honey. The tapas tasting plate, however, was wonderfully yummy. A much better choice I think. Boqueria gets such mixed reviews sometimes.. Id be interested in going back again and trying more of the tapas plates rather than the mains. The service was fast. We arrived there approximately 5 minutes after a large party had been seated, and asked the waitress if it was possible to rush our order because we wanted to make a show time, and we ended up getting our food just a short while before the other table, which meant she must have put our order in first or asked for it to be made first. that was nice.

Really good experience. Decided to go there last night around 9 - two hours later we were leaving the place absolutely happy. Tried 4 tapas (chicken liver pate with carmelized onions, pan cota, croquettes and mackerel&beetroot pate) - all of them nicely put together, tasted fresh and gave us a bit of a "taste of spain" (and lot to talk about -as for new culinary ideas). We triend their house white (Cote du Rhone) - no disapointment here neither, crispy and deep taste, not too fruity. Service was very nice and "cheerfull" - although they got hammered at some stage - managed it well and with a smile. One thing - I prefered old decor, with red color on the walls, lots of different stuff on shelves and some "jamons" hanging on hooks from the ceiling (it suited the name of the place better than what they went for now - kind of dark-decadent-french-cafe-style). Will definitely go back.

The thing about tapas is that they are either spot on, or not really worth having. They should be small and intense. In Spain, something as simple as almonds or grilled peppers with good oil and bread will suffice. In Boqueria the quality is not good enough. Good coffee, good wines, merely adequate tapas. In these times adequate is not enough to keep restaurants going. I'd love to be able to recommend this place, because the idea of good tapas within a stones thow of the English Market should be a no brainer, but I'd go elsewhere gentle reader.

I had a very disappointing experience in the Boqueria. It was was somewhere that I used to frequent quite regularly, but after my last experience unfortunately I will not be going back. Everything in there has changed from the menu to the staff and even the wine. The menu is quite short, the food was very disappointing, we had meatballs that tasted like they came out of a can. The potato bravas are just potato wedges. The wine menu is almost none existent (especially for a wine bar). You cannot get wine for under €30. My biggest issue of the whole night was the staff, they were very rude and unhelpful, any questions that we had about the wine/food they were almost annoyed that we even asked. I will not be going back.

Very Dissapointed with our visit, the menu as listed on this website is not current it is the older menu from a past visit which I really enjoyed. The new menu is very limited with a fraction of the selection that was on offer in the past. On a busy night we arrived to find our table had been given away by accident so we had to wait to get another table so we waited for 25 minutes and when we got a table it was another 15 before we were approached again in the meantime we had gotten menus ourselves. The food was very nice but the portions were smaller than I expected and with a limited menu it felt as it you almost needed to order everything. The way it was last year was brilliant the newer version is a complete let down.

Great atmosphere, menu looks good on first glance but actually quite limited when you start reading it. The lamb dish didn't have on single piece of lamb in it - i overheard the group next to us complaining of exactly the same thing to the server afterwards! Good spot to eat in if you are heading out in the city afterwards, wine ricey in comparison to other restaurants i've been to.

I love this place, love the food, the service needs work but you would get over that if it wasn't sooooooooo overpriced!!! I went with friends after work and it is a great spot for after work drinks but the prices are ridiculous for the amount you get.

I'm sorry to say I was quite dissapointed with my visit here. In fairness the building itself is beautiful and the food was fairly good... Until I got my bill!!! It was nothing short of ridiculous! Also the staff did their best to avoid us after we ordered. I genuinely felt a bit hard done by after I left. Pity.

I wanted this place to be great.....something different on the Cork scene! But unfortunately, having had lunch there, I was totally disappointed. The food was ok.....probably didn't help that I had been in Spain 2 months before, but still, it was merely average. Instantly forgettable! However, the price was exorbitant for the food. It was €24 for 3 tiny plates of food and a water! However, what really let the place down was the service. There was nobody else there on this lunchtime, yet we waited for over 35 minutes to get the food! I really did want this place to be good and I was sorely disappointed.

I was in Boqueria last week with my friend and it was not so busy. The service is always very good and always feel looked after. The wine is lovely also but the food i have to say overpriced. We had brusheta which was like bread toasted with some spices chopped garlic and mash tomato paste some kind of...boring and could do that at home easily.the cheesboard its a shame really.just cheese you get-there are large pieces which is not easy to share cause you have to fight with cutting it yourself like...and if you ask for bread they charge you for that-dissapointing:(we also had peppers with cheese ans some kind of nuts which was very nice.Boqueria is an unusual place and i really enjoy being there sometimes for a drink but wouldnt really eat there-its too expensive.

Was here last week and the food was lovely. Only issue was that it was a bit pricey for what you get. I ordered monkfish skewers that wouldnt have fed a small child and they were $12, the wine on the expensive side too. Dont be too hungry going and it would be okay!

Some nice tapas, decent choice of wine, but too pricey for the amount of food served... I spent more then 60€ for 2 Glasses of wine (0.25cc so it's more that a normal glass ;) ) and a selection of 4 tapas!I would go there mainly for a glass of wine and some marinated olives, that's the only combination of quality&price.

Great place to go for an evening and enjoy great wine and a few nibbles - not sure if the tapas qualify as a meal in themselves but they are very tasty. This place is usually busy so if you are looking for a table go early. Real buzz here.

I think this is a gem in the middle of the city. Tapas food in Ireland is quite more elaborate than most tapas spots in Spain mind! This is the perfect spot for catching up with a friend, a small group's night out or a romantic venture. The wines are brilliant, it's excellent that there is a full bar and the atmosphere is perfect, I especially like when it is very busy and plenty of hussle and bussle.

I have been to the Boqueria on a number of occasions and all in all have always liked my experience. I have been there for breakfast and I have to say the free range scrambled eggs and smoked salmon is a beautiful, simple and delicious dish. I do feel however; that the tapas are small and a tad on the pricey side. They are perfect if you are going for supper or just for a nibble but you would need to spend quite a bit to feel the effects of a dinner. The atmosphere is very relaxed with lovely staff and a real continental feel. Well worth a visit but be prepared to part with a large amount of your cash!

Well I meant to write a review about this Restaurant many times. We have bee there well over 6 times in the last 12 months so I suppose that speaks for itself. The atmosphere is great but a bit crowded. Eating at the bar counter has a very continental feel to it - it's like being on holidays. The selection of dishes is good but a tad expensive. The servers are jolly and friendly. Overall it is a lovely casual place to have a bite - you never have to wait too long for a table. Service is fast. We would recomend it.

I went with my partner to Boqueria on a friday evening at about 6.30pm. It was pretty busy but a very nice lady took our names and promised us a table as soon as possible. We waited at the bar and chose from a fabulous wine list with more than twenty wines by the glass - or rather 25cl measure. When we were seated we chose from a fine and varied menu including some of the best albondigas I've had in years. The patatas Bravas were crisp and tasty. The chick peas and black pudding marvellous. I'll definitely be back

This was very nice food in general, a few complaints put nothing major. Most of our deep fried squid was very tasty, nice bread, monkfish sauce very peculiar, prawns a little rubbery but enjoyed their garlic oil. The paella was delicious however and I would return for only that however. The portions were pretty small and a little expensive, our waitress was very inhospitable, almost rude and the seating arrangements were ridiculous and very uncomfortable. May go back if only to hope to see an improvement for the sake of the kind owner.

All dishes are very small portion and expensive. Fair enough if it was nice but it wasn't so I don't think I would recommend this restaurant.

Very disappointed with our visit. The restaurant is very cramped and the tables are too small so why do they insist on serving the food on large plates? The portions are tiny (even for tapas) and the prices are extortionate. ie we ordered a monkfish dish which cost ~€11/€12 and was a piece of monkfish about 2" long! After ordering, we had to ask for the menu again and order more - we spent about €100 and were both still starving when we left. Also felt that a lot of the food was deep fried and very greasy.

I was really looking forward to my 1st visit to la Boqueria, and when we got there the place was buzzing. The seating arrangement (2 long rows of tables) create a great atmosphere. As far as tapas goes(i visit my sister in Barcelona on a regular basis),the menu was ok, however the quality was a big let down and the prices were far spicier than the "Chilli prawns" i ordered !!! I left La Boqueria that evening with a big hole in my wallet and had a snack when i got home !!

Boqueria is to "tapas" what military music is to music. Just more pricey. However, if you try to forget about the "tapas" thing some Boqueria's dishes are good. Try the fried squid rings or the platter of Manchego cheese with quince jelly: good produce, nicely presented. Nowadays I just visit the place for their good espresso and cheesecake, and because it's the only restaurant in Cork with Martin Codax albarinyo in the wine list. And be prepared to smell like fritter when you leave the place.

On a return visit to Cork in October I returned to this tapas bar which I had very much enjoyed on previous visits. There was a great buzz and it is difficult to get a table at weekends. However eventually we did but unfortunately I have to say I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. I suppose it didn't help that I had just returned from the Basque country where you can eat the most amazing food in the whole of Spain. But here in Boqueria the tapas lacked flavour and felt like the Irish version with a bit of salsa on top! The wine list however is excellent and what seems like an expensive glass (about 7 euro) is in fact a pinchet which contains about 250 mls.

Great place for tapas with some nice Irish twists on some of the dishes, black pudding and chickpeas. All the expected tapas also present. Very friendly staff and good atmosphere but can be a little packed. Great for before a show or just to chill, will be in no hurry to leave. A little on the expensive side but think it is worth it overall.
