this resturant is right in the city centre and easy to get to by bus or other transport. Even though it is in the city centre there is still a lovley atmosphere in the resturant, this resturant is very cosy and staff are really friedly and helpful. the food is really nice and not to badly priced eathier. when i was there me and my aunt had fish and chips with home made tarter sauce and mushy peas and everything was really delisous i must say. the only thing i do not like about the resturant is that the tables are very close together so it is hared to have a chat with who you are with . but all in all i would recommend you to go and taste the food you will not be disapointed.

Went here for lunch with a friend. Very busy & were seated upstairs - very tight for space so wasnt an ideal location. Had to wait along time just to get drinks!! The food however was very good when it finally arrived - Had the chicken stir fry. Very tasty. Would like to go back maybe on a less busy day.

Had a quick early bite here on the way to meet people at the Opera House after work. The food hit the spot, I had the pate, & burger with a side of garlic and it was very tasty. We sat outside and believe it or not we took off our coats because their outside seating area was lovely and warm in December! Definitely worth a visit.

I imagine this would be a nice place for a cocktail at night but it is not suitable for breakfast. It is too dark and "clubby" inside. Nice but not suitable for a morning visit. The food was greasy, dull and forgettable. I usually clean my plate, but here I left half of it behind, unsatisfied. The service was brisk and un-organised. They did not write the order down so some of what arrived was wrong. I also saw servers wandering aimlessly with plates of food and not knowing where to bring them. It is in a prime location and it looks like a nice menu for breakfast but I would say don't bother. Maybe come back at night for a cocktail, but I wont be doing so.

Visited Amicus to sample the Early Bird menu and we weren't disappointed. Had the ceasar salad and steak, chose wine with our meal instead of a dessert. The food was fantastic! The service and atmosphere was great. We left full and relaxed.

''Definitely a spectacular restaurant'' this restaurant came recommended from our hotel while we stayed in cork for the mid summer festival, it was so close to our venu each night, that we went here a few times, its location is great for shopping too right in the middle off some great streets full of shops and cafe's, the decor is just amazing, the setting in its old world building is fantastic. one of the best dining experience's we had in cork, really good food at affordable prices, the staff were fantastic on all our visits. so when in cork folks this is definitly the place to go

Popped in for lunch on bank holiday Monday while in Cork for the weekend.Service was efficient and friendly, even when we accidentally spilled a glass of water. The decor is lovely, with brightly coloured chairs and walls. Some of the various foods like desserts and breads were on display downstairs, making it even more appealing. I had one of the specials, grilled lemon sole. It was tasty and very satisfying, served with veg and potato and just the right portion size. The others had tagliatelle pollo (very generous helpings of chicken), fajitas (again lots of chicken and very tasty) and cajun chicken panini with wedges (delicious). We were too stuffed for dessert but the table beside us got some and they looked amazing, scones on display also looked very tempting. Overall great food, very reasonable prices and excellent service, would definitely return.

First let me say the new look is outstanding. The owners have an eye for taste and colour, the suroundings are amazing for a reasonably priced restaurant, love the colour of the chairs, there so comforting you could sit there all night which we did after our meal we sat in the front area on the grount floor, a lot of people seem to be doing this as it was nice and busy with a great atmosphere like been in a bar with a good buzz, The staff here all ways look busy but yet attentive to your needs. there's a good selection on the menu with an early bird as well, nice to see the suppliers listed on the bottom of the menu, the english market stands out a lot here as does local fish. we were on the mezz first which over looks the bar and street with the kitchen in the back ground, we had the anti-pasti for two to start, what a selection of food, enought for the night but i love food so i had the pork belly, what a decent portion for just €17.95 and my wife had as allways the curry, this is the best curry in the world, and a few we have had over the years, i would love to be able to make curry like this, for dessert we shared a fresh fruit pavlova, just as well, you should see the size of it, the quality here is excellent for a reasonably priced restaurant. we had a lovely night, thant u Amicus

What a fun place, and the service could not be better, we were greeted by a very pleasant man, the italian waiter was really funny and the girls so pleasant and nice. The place is lovely and comfortable. Food is very good value, early bird with a glass of wine was only €21.95, salad to start and fish cakes as a main course, I could not fault it. My husband had the stake and nachos as starter and he thought it was only all right. I would go back for a fun, easy going place.

I just had the best night in a while, Folks this place has it all, we had a few drinks first in the new bar at the front, nice bar man who makes good cocktails using real ingredients no crap mixes here, after that we went up to one of the floors I'd never seen before, it fantastic, loads of room and very busy, there' a bar on this floor as well so not far to go for that very important drink, our food was delicious and very reasonably priced with excellent service to match.

Its holiday time, the kids are off school and where else is there so much space but the long time reliable amicus restaurant, they seem to enjoy our kids more then we like been out with them, there's one guy very tall a manager i think who wuold entertain your kids, cause my kids always ask '' can we go to amicus to see the nice man '' there kids menu is one of the best in the city a good wide range of fresh food or u can get half portions of most stuff from there main menu and there's things for the kids to do on the back of the menu's. For the adults the selection is brilliant, i know thats what keeps me coming back to amicus i tried the bread and dips to start, all home made, tomato & fennel, health brown, black olive, bread sticks, some excellent white & focaccia bread with 3 different dips all for 4.95 then we had the baked haddock with courgettes & dill cream and the roast of the day, sirlion of beef, a good size portion for only 11.95 thats a give away, but then thats why amicus is always busy, this is 15/16 euro every where else. i also love there home made dessert's simple old fashion type fruit crumble with custard, or fresh pav with fruit salad & cream, my kids always have the fruit bowls, must give them there 5 a day, The service here is courteous & friendly, the food is delicious and the best value in town, i love there new lay out, nice and cosy, this is an all round great restaurant.

we booked for a company business meeting with lunch and dinner, what a great success, every thing was set up for us when we arrived, tea, coffee & scones laded on in a wonderful room with high ceilings, we had lunch one floor down in what i have to say is one of the best looking restaurants we ever had a meeting in, lunch was serviced and presented absolutely spot on, later again after our long day we had dinner six course tasting menu which the chef made up for us, again all spot on, our main waiter was absolutely fantastic, this is the place to go in cork

I had an impromptu dinner with a friend on Friday last and we decided on Amicus for a change. I had not een in there since they had done it up and to be honest what they have done has only added to the restaurant in my opinion. We went for the early bird which is great value for money. I had the burger which I loved and the toffee pavlova which was not. I cant put my finger on what was wrong with the pavlova but it just didnt taste right. The service wasnt amazing, the waiter was quite loud and forgot about my tea twice and I had to ask someone else for it but to be honest it wont stop me from going back.

Visited Amicus this afternoon with my Father for some lunch. When we entered the restaurant from the outside it looked quite busy and was thinking whether we would be seated quickly or not, but as we entered the lobby we were directed to our seats relatively quickley. The atmosphere in this restaurant is great, vibrant and bustling with people from all walks of life. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, modern and elegant. We were handed the menu's and given enough time to choose what we would like. I decided to have the special that was on the board, and my father also went for a special. I had chosen the Roast Chicken where as my father had went for the Fish and Chips with Vegetable Soup and Garlic Bread for starters. Food service was prompt, but not too prompt that we were eating straight after our starters. Food was absolutely devine, generous portions of great quality food. Staff and service also rated extremely high. No complaints with Amicus whatsoever. - Patrick

Visited with a friend, called in for tapas. Shared an anti pasti plate, there was plenty, a good tasting of meats, and fine bread. The olives were delicious. The plate was served with 2 toasted cheese on bread. The goats cheese was lovely but the mozzerella was a little tasteless. There was a small portion of pate, but it didn't look hectic, so we left it. I don't understand what a slice of smoked salmon was doing on a meat and cheese plate. The wine list is relatively expensive considering the cost of their early bird menu. However the new lay out has made all the difference, it seems much bigger and the place is renewed. Finally you can enjoy you dinner without your neighbour sitting on you lap!

Consistently good food here at a great price. Its is always busy. Managment and staff are extremely efficent. Last Sat I had the poached eggs with spinach and hollandaise sauce. It was devine. While the hubby tucked into a huge full Irish. Its a relief to find somewhere in Cork that does a decent breakfast that doesnt consist of greasy food and half a tin of beans thrown on top of a plate. Must pop in the weekend for some tapas and a glass of vino...

Myself and the son (13) went in Saturday for a fast lunch. Bowl of olives, mixed breads (tomatoes and fennel, sourdough, brown, bread-sticks, pizza type with tomato if I recall) and dips (hummus, pesto, tomato/chilli), portion of cheesy nachos. Portions all very generous, staff faultless, place fresh and bright, buzzing. They have clearly realised that offering value will keep the place busy, and it was. This should be a textbook approach to recession offerings by restaurants, keep the experience high but lower the prices by using cheaper stuff on the menu. Total bill as 14.85 for two, and we didn't finish.

I had lunch here yesterday as i was invited as a guest with agroup. I am not a loverof this place as had eaten here before but my lunch was very nice indeed. Just had a main course. I chose fingers of fish with wedges and salad. They were like large goujons of different types of fish and were very nice, salad and wedges were lovely too. There was too much mayo on the plate though. 4 large blobs dotted around the plate, I got through nearly 3.

I have always been a huge fan of Amicus. Anytime I have family or friends in Cork I almost always bring them there as I love the food and I think its an overall great value for money restaurant. However I have to say after going for lunch there last Saturday with some friends I wasn't impressed. The food as usual was lovely. However I found the service to be quite abrupt. We all felt that the manager was quite abrupt and on the point of being rude. I understand it is a city centre restaurant and it gets quite busy but a bit of friendliness and less of the snotty attitude would not have gone astray. We were shoved into our seats, menus thrown at us quickly, not even a smile or please or thank you. The food was lovely though so I may go back....althought there are plenty of other restaurants to chose from with much better service. I have to add that the waitress who brought us our drinks was lovely just a shame about her boss.

I have eaten here lots and really love the early bird menu. Twenty euro for a starter, main course and glass of wine is hard to beat. What I love too is that it is available every day of the week. The Sicilian curry is really good and I have also had fab pizzas there, really fresh with generous toppings. A real gem in the middle of the city!

Tried the early bird menu. Opted for a glass of Pinot Grigio instead of dessert, pretty decent wine. For starter had seafood chowder, quite tasty, decent portion. For main course had the roast leg of lamb, big portion but tasted so-so and meat was over cooked. Friendly staff and good service. Will go again to try the more extensive ala carte menu.

Was there for brunch last Sat. I ahd Smoked SalmonSalad which was excellent and really fresh. My guest had the chicken fajitas which were exceptional. A Beer shandy and a glass of Rose to accompany the food came to under €40. I love this palce and always go here when I get to Cork City. I will come back and try it for dinner some evening.

Had lunch here today - lovely as always. Had the organic lamb burger which was excellent!! Staff were doing a great job although a poor man fell ill in the restaurant. They continued to be attentive to all the customers and didn't draw attention to the incident, which I'm sure the man appreciated!

Whilst the food here is good - not amazing or anything - the service and atmosphere leave a lot to be desired. Amicus would want to step up their game a bit as there is so many other restaurants of a similar level in Cork. I've heard good things about the Douglas branch though, so am tempted to try that.

I was spending a day shopping with my friends and lunched here, after hearing many good reports. It is situated in a hub of many good restaurants, so there is a good choice to eat in the area. It always seems to be busy in Amicus, and I enjoyed my lunch there enormously, had Fish Cake special which was delicious. Although I didn't have dessert there, they didn't look great, sitting in a refrigerator. All in all, a very nice lunch spot.

Went to Amicus today for lunch time. It wasn't as crowded as I expected it to be, and the tables weren't as close together as some of the other reviewers mentioned. I was expected the tables to be literally packed together, but although they were closely spaced, it was still comfortable seating. The value was to be expected, the food was simple but good. The steak sandwich however was a bit dry .. just steak on a sandwich with no sauce or gravy to add moisture. The potato wedges that came with the steak sandwich, and the panini, were glistening with the frying oil.. and the salad that accompanied the two sandwiches had no dressing whatsoever.

I dropped into Amicus for lunch at the weekend, having heard many many recommendations from friends and was not disappointed. The huge menu makes choosing quite difficult but we decided on sharing two mains, a Clonakilty pudding pizza and some salmon fish fingers. Both were delicious, pizza and black pudding is a very unusual combo but seeing a few other diners ordering it I had a feeling I was onto a winner. It is however incredibly filling and one between two should be more than enough. The salmon fish fingers were also superb with crisp, golden breadcumbs and fresh fresh fish, served with some tasty chips. The food veered a little towards the expensive side, especially for a lunchtime but seeing how packed the restaurant was, most seem to think Amicus is worth it. On the evidence of this visit I would tend to agree.

Was not happy with here at all- went here with my mother and sister after a hard days shopping. We were very hungry so anything would have tasted good but none of us were happy with our food- luke warm, not very fresh-tasting and not great value for money either. Would not go here again!

I went here with my sisters after a day of christmas shopping and it was fantastic! We shared starters and each had a main course, I had the fagitas which were amazing!! We had a few bottles of wine between us as well and it all came to around €30 each! Which I thought was very good value

The atmorphere of this place is just right - its not too posh, or not too casual. Its more enjoyable if you go there when its not too busy as the place is very noisy if the room is full as the tables are quite close together. The atmosphere is generally very nice. The menu has lots of choices and every thing ive tried so far has been very tasty and satisfying. They play great attention to detail with everything particularly there cuttlery and presentation - eg. their bread board with bread and dips, and there kebab and fajitas presentation etc. this adds a little more fun and make the meal a lilttle more special. The value is also very good with a 3 coarse meal for only 20 euro (early bird menu). Ive found the food to be of a very high standard, and have never been dissapointed.

Really like this place! Eat here on a regular basis! Great value for really nice, tasty food! I had the chicken creole with potatoe wedges for lunch and it was so nice! I usually get this meal any time i order off the lunch menu! Would also reccommend the chicken fajitas, but if you have a large appetite order a side order of chips with the fajitas!

I have eaten here several times, both lunch and dinner menu. The menu is varied and has something for everyone. I tend to prefer their lunch menu to their evening menu however. My one negative about the place is that the tables are very crowded together!

I've only been here once but I would return in the future. I had the clonakilty pizza which was very nice (albeit a little greasy). The choice of food on the menu was very varied and appealing. My only complaint though is that they try to pack too many tables into the restaurant which can be a little uncomfortable. This is only a small gripe however.

I love Amicus! Ive been many many times before and its been a favourite of myself and the girls for years. They have something for everyone on the menu and the atmosphere is always buzzing. The prices are very reasonable.. I suppose my only possible complaint with place is that the table are a little close if you were plannign on a romantic meal. Pizzas are my favouite!

I always go here! I love the atmosphere, the suberb casual yet professional service and the food is devine! I'm a vegeterian who loves healthy food and my husband is a meat eater who like calorific food so the only place that caters to both tastes is Amicus. 10 out of 10 everytime!

Went to Amicus with a friend for the first time today. The tables were very close together, a private conversation was out of the question as our neighbours could overhear every word. Service was very rushed, quite intrusive and not particularly friendly. This was surprising since it wasn't 'rush hour' yet when we arrived, the place only started filling up after we had been served already. The food (we both had the seafood chowder and a cappucino afterwards) was nice but not outstanding either. Overall a fairly disappointing experience, we felt very rushed trying to pick something from the menu and the whole place just felt like they were trying to channel as many customers through in as little time as possible.

I ate lunch in Amicus with a bunch of girl friends. I went there thinking it'd be a nice place to catch up with friends that I had not seen in a long time. I did not enjoy the experience. The tables were placed too close together and we felt uncomfortable talking when we knew that the people at the next table could hear every word we said. We were placed next to the kitchen area upstairs and I felt like they squashed as many tables as they could in, in order to maximise space. The food was only very average. I ordered chicken goujons and chips. The goujons were burned. The other people in the party however really enjoyed their food. However one aspect of the experience that we all agreed on was that the service was well below par. The waitress seemed bored and she was very slow and left us with our dirty dishes for a very long time. When we asked her if we could order desert she rolled her eyes and sighed. We did not feel at all appreciated.

I've been to Amicus a fair few times but I recently went there today with my friends for a back to school treat. It was very nice as usual. I really recommend their wraps and paninis. Yum! Service was very good, and they didn't mind us pulling up a chair for our friend who joined us for a bit. One of the few places that don't have a prejudice against teenagers.

I have been to Amicus several times, and its usually only average. Went there with a friend a few weeks ago when we couldn't book elsewhere, and it wasn't great at all. Tables are very close together which isn't nice for a catchup with a friend, and the food wasn't great. My friend ordered a steak cooked medium rare, but it was really really well done, and the vegetables that came with it had some nasty seasoning which wasn't nice. I had the fishcakes which weren't great either, there was a really overpowering taste of dill in them so you couldn't taste anything else, and the salad was limp as well. My dessert was nice, I got chocolate cake and it was lovely, my friend got some other cake which was only ok. I wouldn't recommend it, there's better places in town to eat. I used like Amicus before when it was in French Church Street, but it seems to have gone downhill since moving.

nice place, the tables are a little close together but great if you are an eavesdropper, not great if you want to say something private, the food is very good and the waiting staff are excellent. good value for money and there is no being rushed out the door. Good wine list also

My boyfriend and I ate here on a Thur night, the restaurant was full and had a great buzz about it. We shared the nachos to start which were tasty and more than enough for two. We both had burgers which were lovely if not a little overcooked ( we were not asked how we would like them done). We shared a bottle of Prosecco at €15 which was excellent value. The staff here are fantastic, could not fault the service. The food if anything came out a little too quickly for our liking with very little time between courses, however we did not feel rushed and I would definitely return.

This is one of my favourite Restaurants in Cork City. We eat here on a regular basis especially on Saturday for Lunch and on and off on Evenings. It has great value and is certainly a recession beater. Overall we love the place. The food is well prepared and presented and good value for money. I had to write about our experience there last Sunday night. There was 4 of us in the group. Oh It's great that they now take bookings. Anyway we had a great night and the food and service was as usual spot on but it was the atmosphere that made our night - whatever it was - we left feeling great - the staff were happy, friendly and very attentive - especially the Spanish Manager. 1 of my friends was spanish and she was delighted that he took the time to converse with her in spanish. She was well impressed as was our party. Thanks again for a fab night.

Restaurant seemed fairly empty but ok.then it got worse.seemed be few staff, maybe four, one stuck at cofee one girl(lovely)seemed be running show.she ran up and downstairs delivering food before eventually getting time see us take order manager must have been too busy standing in doorways and other guy looked disinterested to say least.girl as said lovely food good but ages taken clear table so no time for coffee or dessertwon't be back

I have been going to Amicus regularly for the past few years and I keep going back. I find it especially handy for lunch with friends as it is in a good central location and the food is excellent for the prices you pay. For a quick lunch, a favourite of mine would be one of the paninis, superb value at €6.95. There is an extremely extensive menu varying from light lunches to full meals, all competitively priced. I have never had any issue whatsoever with the staff and generally find them to be friendly and attentive. I have also eaten here at evening time, and have enjoyed it very much. Amicus is a prime restaurant for casual dining and good food at an excellent price. I will be back time and time again.

I have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions and I can certainly that it is not one of my favourites, or anywhere near that. But it is handy for meeting friends at lunch time. The food is average at best and service is normally ok. On this Friday at lunchtime, and not especially busy, I went with my girlfriend and our two friends. We arrived at 1:05 and had our order in by 1:10. At 1:35, we asked the waiter would we be waiting much longer as we had to return to work at 2, and he said it would be out momentarily. At 1:50, we asked again and were told that there was a problem in the kitchen which had just been rectified. It was unusual because most of the other tables were receiving their food, therefore, we concluded that there must have been some mix-up with our order. At 1:55, our lunch finally arrived. Having scoffed down what was at best, an over-cooked cajun chicken pitta and wedges, I went to the desk to pay and the cash desk lady asked if everything was ok. I informed her about the delay and told her that we wouldn't have waited if we had been told that the food would take so long. She informed me that that was my problem and I should have said something to the waiter. I informed her that I did and she told me that nobody had demanded that I stay and that if I was really that pushed, I could have left. All I wanted was an apology! I can safely say, I will not return. The food is not good, but it is not terrible! It is a bit expensive for what you get. It is about double the price of well known fast food joints but at least there you know what you're getting. At least there, you do not expect good service! Accordingly, no tip was left!

Just went yesterday to Amicus with one friend for a light dinner and i have to say i was very pleased with the place, i thougt the decoration was fab, really brings an atmosphere to the place (those huge windows are amazing!) their menu has a lot of different choices, we ordered lasagne and chicken bacon salad ,i wasn't blown away by the food but it was ok and the portions were generous and the prices are not to high so we were really happy with our food, the waiter who took our order and brought our food was really nice very polite and efficient .After a while a family with 3 children sat next to us so we were a little concerned they were gonna be noisy but they were given crayons and stuff to keep them entertained while they waited for the food so it was fine. My only complain would be the desserts, we decided to share the cheesecake (wich was actually very nice) but unlike the food the portion was way too small!! Anyway i would go back anytime and would recommend it to friends.

Cheap and cheerful. Amicus is what it is really, I wasnt blown away by the food but it was ok, came out quickly and filled the gap. Not the kind of place one can sit around talking and mulling over a glass of wine. But quite effective if you want a quick convenient lunch.

What a restaurant. What an atmosphere, this is one great restaurant. we were on the way to the opera house so poped in for a quick bite i had the lamb & chorizo Espetadas and my friend had the chicken millefuille, two great dishes, i love the way the lamb espetadas are served, all washed down with a bottle of a very reasonably priced house wine, it was 7 oclock when we went in and i said to the waiter we needed to be in the opera house just before 8, no prob we were in the opera house at 15 min to 8, this is the best restaurant in cork for value for money

I went here for a quiet dinner with a friend but the tables are completely on top of each other. It is really noisy and hard to hold a conversation. we moved to a table upstairs which was a little better. The staff were friendly initially but were really rushing us to leave after a while. We had been told that the table was available for 90 min but pressure was being put on us to leave after 60 min. The food was a bit disappointing too. The pasta dishes were very plain and a bit over cooked- nothing really special about them. It felt like something you would throw together at home if in a rush.

I went to Amicus with my friend.New they opened new restaurant in Douglas and just wanted to try what they can offer to a customer.Went to Amicus in town on the day before the valentines day.And have to say: that was the worst experience i have ever had in my whole life.We where looking for some romantic sitting but were sitted in the middle of the restaurant when almost all the better tables where free.Felt horrible if the restaurant is so big but still the waiters touch you every time they pass behind your back. The chairs where very uncomfortable and kind of small so felt like in Douglas McDonalds:/Before we ordered we were asked if we where ready 3 times by 3 different waiters-so this place is not organised at all-do the waitres even talk to ech other like to know whats going on?But at the end when we were ready there was nobody around:/What a weard place!!We ordered spaghetti and fajitas.O my God what a dissapointment!!!This came after 5 minutes so i suppose they had it ready whole afternoon waitig for customer to order.I go to restaurants a lot and know that for fresh and good food you just have to wait like!!??fajitas cost almost 20 euro and it was most rosted red onion and few pieces of pepper +some prawns which had strange coulour-there where blue and hard-as i know if the prawn is cooked properly it should be pink and crispy? There were 4 tortillas-chewy like heated up in the microwave-wouldnt be suprised some sauces and tiny side salad. My friend got spaghetti and its just waste of time to describe it.It doesnt mean that we expected 5 star food but this was just worse than anything. The spaghetti looked horrible and tasted like nothing-i could make better pasta at home even that i dont have lots of experience in cooking. When we complained to the waiter he just said sorry and left without offering anything.I just cant understand people which go to Amicus.

Had lunch here a few times & while I like it, it is nothing special - their Douglas branch is certainly better. The food is fine, though again not as good as Douglas & the staff are just not as good or as friendly. It is quick though for lunch-time.

Very busy when we arrived which was fine however it was quite difficult to grab our waitresses attention and when they did come over they insisted on taking away some of our cutlery and delph. Food was good but not memorable, can't even remeber what I ordered which is never good. Price okay as well! Staff could be more friendly!

I went here with 3 friends last night and the food was very good but there was a draft from the door, even though we were sitting in the middle of the restaurant. We asked for the special dessert to be told it was all gone & just as we finished eating our desserts another sign went up with the Special Dessert on it - other than this we enjoyed our meal. The toilets so far away is annoying too.

I have to say I had my doubts as I had heard a lot of very mixed reports- but I have to say I went on a Friday night which was really busy the service was fantastic, really friendly staff, the food was really good and the value was the best around- My only downside is that the restaurant can be quite packed and you can feel that you are on top of other people.....But all round really nice restaurant.

I had always thought it was brilliant and I adore the food and great vegetarian options,,,,BUT they need to be more careful who they hire! Last few visits the staff have been so rude and unhelpful. Everything is a chore for them and it ruins the experience. Such a shame because the atmosphere otherwise is great. Freezing by that door though!!!! Annoying how far away the toilets are too!!

For your quick lunchtime fix for the obligatory panini that come with yummy wedges this is the perfect haunt(provided you can get there early i.e. 5-10 mins early before the rush to get a table) I often visit this busy spot for the midweek catch - up with friends or family. For what you get I feel it is good value and the service is quite prompt. The lunch menu is extensive, from salads, to sandwiches, to toasted sandwiches or a full meal. I was dissapointed with one of the waiters the last time I visited as he forgot my request for sauces, but on the whole this is fine by me for the quick tasty dine at lunchtime.

I booked a table for 6pm for a family of 5 for a pre panto dinner. We were a little early so took a seat on the couch, where we witnessed 3 groups with no booking being seated before us. We were ready to leave when we were finally seated upstairs in a corner beside the kitchen, not a great location. The kids menu was standard fare so 1 pizza and 2 pastas were ordered, one with a cream sauce and one plain with butter. The pizza was ok, the pasta was inedible, overcooked and cold. The "cream" sauce turned out to be warm cream poured over the overcooked pasta, dreadful. The garlic bread contained no garlic, just melted butter and herbs on white batch loaf. The homemade burger looked good but was dry and bland. The spaghetti and prawn dish was ok if a little oily and was again accompanied by the awful garlic bread. When we asked for parmesan a canister of dried stuff was produced. Overall a very poor meal, particularly the childrens food. I won't be returning nor would I recommend it to anyone. However I will say that the staff were good.

I love this restaurant - if you are here with a large crowd probably better - they seem to do large groups very well, not sure if I would come here for a "romantic" meal ... I think the food is really good and I have never been disappointed.

I could not fault this place, its exactly what I look for in a restaurant, good atmosphere, good service and more importantly good food and good value. This place is the ideal start to a great night out in Cork.

Went here for a family meal during the daytime - so the menu was different but nice all the same. Staff were very friendly. Prefer the food and menu at night time..

Food was good -not amazing- and value for money was reasonable. However, my gripe with this place is their unofficial "lets stuff everyone in here like sardines" policy. The tables are positioned WAY to close together....so much so that you can -with absolute clarity- hear every other conversation within a 3/4 meter radius. Not my idea of pleasant dining. Pity, because it's in a great location and has the potential to be much better.

Great Value for money, services was perfect. We were up stairs in a large group just outside the kitchen and it was very very hot, we look like tomatoes in the photo's.

I think Amicus is brilliant. It has excellent food and an excellent choice at an amazingly reasonable price. I have never been disappointed. The servive is better than a number of our higher end restaurants in the city; very friendly. I think the setting is spectacular. Great for lunch and an early supper. Ideal location and it's great to have the extra spot outside.

I always loved this restaurant when it was around the corner, but the service really seemed to have deteriorated when I went to the new Amicus. We were waiting for an hour and weren't even apologised to. The servers were extremely rude. Hopefully it was a one off however, because every other time I have gone it was excellent.

Before Amicus moved to its new, larger premesis in Gallagher Place, I used to eat there almost every week. What drew me to Amicus was the simple, uncomplicated menu, the food, which is generally quite good, and the service, which is now and has always been excellent. It's never struck me as more than a top-notch lunch restaurant however, It's not a place I'd choose to go to for a proper meal. Since the move the place seems to have gotten a whole lot more popular and gone are the days when I could lounge around outside with a coffee and a newspaper. While I'm not too fond of the new premises, the food and service have retained their high standard and I'd definitely recommend a visit.

I was here two or three time in the last 2 months. I love it. Was here on Good Friday and had lunch. Given the black fast and all, I said I'd have the seafood pasta. It was top drawer. I had steak here before and that too was unreal, all in all one of my favourite restaurants ever...

Came here for dinner last Saturday night, very busy place and a lot of tables packed in. ordered nachos for starter. It was about 10 Doritos with a bit of salsa and cheddar and put under the grill, a few more plain Doritos and tiny little pot of guacamole and sour cream. Nothing to write home about. My husband and I had pastas. They were ok a bit boring with very few veggies. I asked for parmesan cheese they gave that horrible dried stuff. My friend got lemon sole and most of it was skin, tasty, but not a whole lot of fish. her husband got the filet and said it was nice. Overall not my best night out probably wouldn’t go back.

Pretty pretentious, always packed. Don't be looking for a healthy option as they don't do "just veg" salads. Lots of heavy sauces. You're going to have a pretty expensive sandwich for your lunch so steer clear in general I'd say.

A group of us went for lunch. It was packed. Wine was lovely, service excellent. Was very disappointed with food, poor choice basically upmarket sandwich/burgers. Remember much better value before it moved and that was also at night. Treat with caution at lunch my advice or avoid altogether

Have eaten in this restaurant many times in the past, but have not tried it since it moved to The Gingerbread house site. The menu is vast and the choice is for everyone. Its very good value for money and we like it a lot.

Used to love going here for breakfast but they've recently changed from table service to carvery style. Not my thing. The new location (the former Gingerbread House) is much more spacious. Staff are pleasant and the menu is great value.

Great location, food selection also good but salads need some work especially for some of the chicken which is simply a cold meat chicken from a processing brand. Not too happy about their salads in general as also they seem to soak them in the oil and dressing for a bit too long. The rest of the menu is quite good and the service is also good. If you want any else but a salad then you could do worse.

Without doubt my favourite place to eat. Great food nice staff and great value for money. The only thing that lets this place down is how close the tables are together. You never feel like you have privacy. All in all a great place to eat.

Lovely place for lunch with a group of people. Its 10 times better since they moved to a larger premises as you're not as squashed and you get a table fairly fast. The food is superb and there is a great choice to choose from. Try the fajitas...yummy!

Love Amicus. Always go there for lunch. At busy times it does get a little crammed but the good service and great food makes up for it! Fish goujons for lunch are very good.

Food and Service excellent. Lovely big space with 30% too many tables, if you wanted to have dinner with the strangers at the table next to you then this is the place to go as tables are much too close to each other, sorry Amicus, its your only fault though!! Everything else, fantastic!

I have been here for lunch about ten times, and it is one of my favourite restaurants in the whole country. The food is fab!! And the service is always good. Try the cajun chicken pitta.

Ate here several times before they moved to Paul Street and always had a great meal. Thankfully nothing has changed. The new location is so much bigger to cater for the popularity the place deserves. Great service and great food always. Two thumbs up.
