The place was empty and we waited over 40 minutes to get our order. I actually had to get up, find the waitress and ask her what was going on. She did not look busy, did not offer any explanation for the delay and did not apologize. So, although the food was good, we would definitely not be going back. nThere were disposable paper table clothes on the tables. It looked terribly cheap, considering the fact that the prices on the menu were higher than most places in Arklow.

I have both eaten in and gotten take aways from this chinese restaurant many times and the quality has always been fantastic. In my opinion it is the best chinese restaurant in Arklow. On our most recent visit we ordered a selection of starters and main courses, our favourite being the House Special Platter, Crispy Shredded Chicken, Duck with Orange Sauce and the King Prawn Fried rice. An extensive wine list is always on offer along with a small choice of asian and non-asian bottled beers. Price-wise, it is very competitive and on a par with what other chinese restaurants are charging; overall I think most chinese restaurants are very competitive. The service here is always good, the staff rarely seem to change, which is always a good thing in my opinion. The restaurant is a little small and sometimes it can get a little noisy if there are large groups eating. In summary, I will keep on returning to this restaurant because of the good quality and service on offer.

The Soya Bean has to be one of the nicest chinese take-aways/restaurants in Arklow town. The take aways are really nice but to really experience the food you have to go into the restaurant. Its decorated chinese style and the waitresses wear chinese dresses and it's a great atmosphere and the staff are friendly and very polite. But the food is amazing they have this deal at the moment where you can get a any starter, main course and dessert from their menu for €16. The menu is very comprhensive too has such a vareity on it. I had the salt and pepper chilli praws for starter (the presentation of it was brilliant they carved a swan out of a turnip to decorate the starter and the collours are fantastic on the plate.) For Main I had the Chicken Chow Mein which I always get and it's always delicious ( they bring it out on a hot plate and put it in the centre of the table which I think is a nice touch because I love the fact that everyone can just share their dishes and help themselves to a bit of everything. For Dessert I had the Orange Sorbet which was the perfect light dessert and the sorbet is served in a whole orange which presented nicely. I just think that they're attention to detail is fantastic and the food is delicious.

Although we've lived here for 8 years, we had never been to Soya Bean until recently to celebrate my birthday. The staff were very friendly and charming, presenting me with a glass of wine and wishing me a happy birthday. After some very fresh and hot prawn crackers, we shared a mixed combination platter which included satay chicken and fabulous spring rolls. I then had Minced Fillet Beef with Thai Sweet Basil and Vegetables while the Husband had Roast Cantonese Duck. We ended up splitting the mains as they were both so good! The desserts were pretty standard, but who goes to a Chinese restaurant for the dessert trolley? We hugely enjoyed our meal and plan to go back very soon

We made our second visit to this restaurant in early February. Once again we enjoyed a lovely meal in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We found it to be a little more expensive than other chinese restaurants but the quality of the food more than compensates for this. I had also been with a group of girl friends on two other occasions and again everyone was very happy with their respective meals and the standard of service provided. We will definitely be visiting again.

Nice Chinese restaurant, nice food, lovely atmosphere, reasonable enough prices. Can cater for large parties in your own private room which is nice. Nothing too spectacular but nice for a quick impromptu meal. Good selection for non Chinese lovers but you need to ask the waitress.

I ate here recently with a group of about 9 friends for a birthday, we had booked a table so we didn't have to wait to be seated and where we were was quite cosy. I had vegetable curry which was delicious. The service is great here, very friendly and it's easy to try a bit of everyones dishes with the revolving part of the table in the middle. The prices are very reasonable and we didn't feel under pressure to leave. Would definitely go again.

This restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. We've been here a few times, but there is a restaurant in Wicklow which I think has better tasting food. However what you're paying for here is the setting, the silver service, attentive staff. Presentation of the dishes are very nice, but a bit on the small side, although the flavours on the whole aren't too bad and fairly authentic. They have an early bird which makes it reasonably affordable though.

Cannot fault the Soya Bean, except for the way the rush you if you are at the early seating.. even when the food comes out late.. otherwise food is fab.. Sometimes for the late seating it can be too slow.. but still the food is gorgeous!

I was bitterly disappointed with the Soya Bean, after reading the good reviews on this website yesterday. I went there last night for the 1st time(and the last time). I wanted to treat my son by going there, booked a table early enough, arrived there on time, I must say its a beautiful restaurant, very well decorated and presented. We sat down ordered our drinks had a look at the menu, and the waitress, came over and wanted to know if we wanted to order, I said "no, give me 5 minutes" and within 30 seconds, she was over again. A this stage I was fuming, but I didn't voice my frustration, as my son was there and I didn't want to make a scene. So I was rushed into ordering my food, we ordered our starters and they arrived promptly, but the portions were very poor, not worth the money. I got salt n pepper spare ribs, there was more fat and bone than meat!!! The service staff kept walking around our table, popping their heads around corners to see if we were finished our starters, no soon as we were sitting down, they wanted us out the door. So they eventually got the plates off us, and about 5 mins later our main courses arrived. The quality of the mains very very good, but the portions, were yet again very poor, certainly not worth the money!!! And as before, the service staff checking up on us every minute(without any exaggeration) which was very irritating. Then when I finished my main, one of the service staff came over and asked were we finished, I said, I was, but my son wasn't, the same person came over 3 times, to see if we were finished, at this stage, I had enough, said to my son, come on were going, I really wanted to explode, with this staff member. But as I said before, I didn't want to make a scene in front of my son. I would have got a better feed from a happy meal in McDonald's, better service, better everything.... unfortunately you learn by your mistakes..

Excellent place to eat in Arklow which is a sentence I never thought I would write! Called by without a reservation on Saturday evening at 7.00 after watching the rugby. There were four of us and we were given a table as long as we vacated it by 9.00 which was perfect. The food was delicious, so so tasty, full of flavour and really authentic Chinese and Thai cooking. We all raved about the bbq pork and aubergine dish which was fantastic as well as the utterly delicious tofu and minced pork dish. Another success was a minced chicken with Thai basil, chili and anise which was delicate in flavour and very more-ish. The home made desert of pecan cake was devoured. Excellent value for money, 4x starters, 4x mains, 2 rice, 2 noodle, 4x beers, three deserts and two coffees all for €155....I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we all agreed to return.
