FACILITIES

Veggie options available Allocated smoking area Luscious Dublin Bay prawns, succulent oysters, melt in the mouth mussels, mouth-watering mackerel…just some of the delicious seafood you’ll find on menus around Ireland.

Irish people love to eat seafood when dining out; in fact, unlike our European neighbours, we eat more seafood outside the home. Perhaps this is a testament to the quality of our seafood restaurants. And for many visitors, a trip to Ireland wouldn’t be complete without sampling a few oysters and sinking a pint of the black stuff. Menue is very different from their usual Menue, unfortunately we were shown the normal menue first and had to downsize then! basically we had soup, fish and chips, and desserts. the cod came out luke warm and was kind of watery inside the batter!! sore tummy that night!!! Service was very nice! Place a bit cold on a windy cold night!!!

Amazing food. Used a voucher for 60 worth of food for 30. Ordered two fillet steaks, and they were cooked perfectly. We were barely able to finish our deserts. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

I went to The Weir with a friend on a Menupages voucher. We went midweek and there was only about three other people there so the atmosphere wasn't great. But the food was lovely and the waitress was very helpful. I will be going back but will try later in the week.

we got one of the vouchers that were on offer & decided to try out this restaurant. we were greeted by a very nice barman who turned out to be the waiter as well. he was extremely attentive & had a great manner about him. he handed us both clipboards which had a hand written page with the menu on it, someone must think these are cool...certainly different we did'nt bother with the starters & both ordered steaks ...fillet & sirloin. the sirloin was the most expensive on the menu at €26 but sadly almost 1/3rd of it was grizzle & was served with McD's type french fries, at €26 i would have expected home made potato chunky chips. the desserts were excellent which made up for the poor mains so would highly recommend them. left still feeling hungry so got a bag of chips on the way home hate to leave a bad review but best to warn others, most of the reviews here seem to be about another restaurant

Brought friends here on Friday night with a menupages deal voucher. I could not fault the staff, food or service. We had a great night and will definitely be back. Our starters of soup, deep fried brie and crab cakes were lovely and nicely presented. I ordered the grilled chicken burger which on paper might not sound a good choice but the flavours and presentation were gorgeous, I also had the wild leaf salad with this and I would love the recipe for the dressing used on it. The other mains ordered were another chicken fillet burger, the ultimate beef burger and a specials main. All were excellent. The desserts as would be expected were heavy on the calories and I asked our waiter if there was a possibility of getting a fruit salad. He came back with a choice of fruits that they had in the kitchen and asked me what I would like. It is service like this that can make a difference. I would highly recommend the Weir for great food and a great atmosphere and above all great service.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal in The Weir Restaurant in February and with the Menu pages voucher it represented really excellent value. Great menu choice on all 3 courses with food cooked to perfection. Our waiter was very attentive and service was prompt and highly efficient. Room had a really nice ambiance and good atmosphere, the open fire added to it on what was a cold night. Highly recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I with my brother and his wife enjoyed the very cosy atmosphere in the Wier, Ashford House Co.Wicklow. Sat 9th Feb was a cold wet night so we were drawn immediately to the huge fire. The food was excellent as was the friendly service. We had purchased two Menupages vouchers, unusually this only covered a portion of the overall cost of the meal. I love when we pay in advance for vouchers for example for a three course meal it's great, you are only paying for extras drinks etc on the night out. It can work out more expensive than you expect with the limited voucher, although in fairness The Weir have their full Menu posted with Menupages..so read the small print.

Had dinner here for the first time tonight with my partner. Glad I did. The food was lovely. Nice size portions. My partner thought the bread with his soup, could have been fresher but the rest of his food was perfect. I couldn't fault my meal. The service was quick, efficient and quite friendly.Recommended it to a friend who is moving into the area so no doubt, I will be visiting again in the near future.

The transition from pub grub lounge to what is now The Weir last September is a welcome one. It is incorporated in to what was the Ashford House pub and the bar is still there to have a few drinks, but the ambience created with the new decor makes for a pleasurable night out for couples or family group meals. We had just a main course each of homemade burger with fries and side salad, and from the blackboard, the special of hake with chorizo sausage on a bed of small baby roasted potatoes. Both dishes were superb along with an Australian Grant Bruge shiraz at just €23. The shared chocolate cake and ice-cream dessert plus coffees for two brought our total to €70, which might be a bit more than you would like to spend, but its very much value for money. Service and attention from staff just excellent too.
