Having been to the Lobster Pot many times, this old favourite was very disappointing on a recent visit. Stopping in for a trusted bowl of seafood chowder four of us were sorely let down by the distinct lack of any seafood or shellfish in any of our bowls. Subsidising our soup with a side order of some under-cooked potato wedges did little to improve our glum impressions. Perhaps the restaurant (rather than bar) presents a more favourable offering but for the price we paid, we could have had a hearty main course in one of the many high calibre restaurants in nearby towns.

Had a lovely meal in the Lobster Pot recently, it has been a couple of years since we eat here and it is still as good as ever. It was a Tuesday after Easter and there was not too many people around when we arrived around 4pm so getting a table was no problem. We both had the Crab Mornay with chips, food and service were excellent especially the chips which were cooked to perfection. We were also tempted by the dessert menu and it was hard to decide what to have so we had the Chefs special which was a selection of 4 different desserts which was a great choice. While I agree that it is a little on the expensive side but it is well worth a visit for special occasions and especially if you just had a win on the Grand National as we did.

On recommendation went for sunday lunch/brunch. Were given seats in dark back area and extortionately priced menu. We decided as we were here and had travelled a long way to stay put that food had to be good if they were charging these HIGH prices. Food was average..... and definitely OVER PRICED. What was also annoying was we were not asked if we wanted lunch from a la carte menu or something from bar/sandwich menu. Also we were not told about specials on "board" it felt like outsiders give them the big menu. It would have been nice to have been offered a choice as the table next to us were by their waitress. Definitely won't be back or would not recommend. Definitely overpriced.
