The Rowan Tree Restaurant @Ashdown Park Hotel 5.0 star review: I enjoyed a lovely meal here on Saturday night with my family. First impressions were good; we received a warm welcome from the staff and were seated promptly. The restaurant is nicely laid out with good space between tables creating a sense of privacy. The atmosphere was good, mainly created by two young girls playing a mix of classical and modern pieces on the harp and violin; this was really enjoyable and enhanced the experience. On to the food, what can I say... as the is a hotel restaurant I wasn’t expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised, in fact I’d go as far as to say it was excellent. The group had a wide selection of starters and main courses from the menu and each member of the party were very complementary on what they had. I had the chorizo tartlet to start which sounds funny but it was divine. I followed this with the pork main course which again was fantastic. I liked the fact the each person received their own (generously sized) individual side of vegetables. Just when I thought the meal couldn’t get any better along came a selection of individual deserts, lemon cheesecake, meringue nest, tiramisu and vanilla ice cream in a brandy snap basket. All this was delivered with excellent friendly service; nicely timed food delivery not rushed but not left waiting either. All in all a very enjoyable experience and I will definitely make an effort to visit again. Well done!

The Rowan Tree Restaurant @Ashdown Park Hotel 4.0 star review: We stayed in this hotel last night so got a complimentary breakfast. The breakfast was really good. It was a buffet which had plenty of choice. The hot food was all really nice and then the pastries were good too. Service was prompt and friendly. Very nice indeed.

The Rowan Tree Restaurant @Ashdown Park Hotel 1.0 star review: Stayed here for one night. Looked forward to a nice evening meal. I had prawn cocktail to start. these were the tiniest enemic shrimp i have ever seen, the sauce had no flavour, a really bad start. I ordered beef bourgiugnon which again was extremely bland. this was accommpanied by the worse veg i have ever been served - overcooked baton carrots and potatoes and red cabbage swimming in butter. The ceiling started to leak right beisde our table, when we pointed this out one of the staff, she laughed and said are ye having a shower girls!!!! Definately wont be back,

The Rowan Tree Restaurant @Ashdown Park Hotel 1.0 star review: I went here with a friend for a midweek relaxation. With declarations of brilliance hung up outside the restaurant I was very hopeful we were to have a wonderful meal. I was greatly let down.
1. The food was horrible and I don't throw that word around. Greasy goats cheese and disgusting pasta, nicest part was the dessert.
2. There was no atmosphere.
3. We were seated under a leak in the roof and asked by a member of staff if we were "enjoying our shower".
4. No cooler for the wine.
5. No value for money AT ALL.

I will never go back. As for the hotel, it was dreary and outdated, the room was tiny and the bathroom was minuscule. It was not a 4 star hotel as promised.

The Rowan Tree Restaurant @Ashdown Park Hotel 4.5 star review: Dined here for breakfast and dinner during a weekend stay. The breakfast was quite simply the best full Irish I have ever had - bar none! Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was first class.
The dinner we had was just as good. The pate starter was divine, and the steak and dessert fabulous. The only tiny gripe I have is that it was a little dull and quiet. Having said that, it was probably a perfect atmosphere for a romantic evening for two. Can't recommend this place enough, it was the highlight of Gorey for me.

The Rowan Tree Restaurant @Ashdown Park Hotel 4.0 star review: Had a very nice family dinner in the Rowan Tree. The dining room is quite nice though as it was a dark November evening didn't see much of the deck area outside! The bread beforehand is very nice. The set meal is quite good value for €42.50 and everyone in our party of 10 was very happy with their food. If you're staying in the Ashdown Park would definitely recommend you try the Rowan Tree. Service was very good and prompt though as we finished (not that later) we were the second last table left in the restaurant

The Rowan Tree Restaurant @Ashdown Park Hotel 5.0 star review: The restaurant is upstairs overlooking a lovely deck area it is very big and the tables are well spaced out. The night we were here the restaurant wasn't very busy maybe because Wexford were playing in Croke Park. The service was prompt and friendly and the Guinness Bread is amazing I was tempted to ask for some to take home. They offer a set menu which is good it only cost us EUR42 for 3 courses very good value. Will be back here again

Lamb Cutlets with Garlic, Lemon and Paprika

Why not make up a large quantity of this marinade in advance – it is wonderful with cutlets and would also work well with leg steaks or loin chops. The longer you marinate the meat for, the better the flavour!
