Went to this fabulous Hotel for a special Birthday meal and it was amazing.. This Hotel offers the complete meal experience in beautiful surroundings with food that is just mouth watering from start to finish.A big fire awaits guests arrival and the Drawing Room has a massive Christmas tree with large candles dotted around the room. We were brought to the Library for a pre dinner drink and some tasty complimentary appetisers.Stuffed mushrooms ,savoury smoked salmon tartlets and chicken satay whetted our tast buds while we studied the menu.Delicious! Our waitress was well versed in explaining the menu and very efficient. It is a five course table dhote menu with a choice of 5 within each course. I went for the seafood starter which consisted of scallops, timbale of crabmeat and a lobster bisque while my other half had the darn of salmon. This was accompanied by a selection of house breads ,absolutely gorgeous! The food was beautifully presented and the attention to detail was excellent. Another surprise was in store while we waited for our mains, a triangle of toated fruit loaf with goats cheese pate , again beautifully presented, a very interesting combination. Main courses of rib eye beef and turbot followed and we savoured each mouthful , just melt in your mouth. This was all washed down with a bottle of house rose. As we let our food settled I noticed the dining room was almost full and there was a lovely atmosphere, the staff certainly provided service without servility. I couldnt resist the selection of Irish cheeses served with a great variety of crackers and homemade chutney . My other half had the poached pear with home made ice cream and brandy snap. We then returned to the library for coffee and petit fours, a wonderful end to a wonderful meal.I could only describe the evening as a little bit of heaven so if you want to celebrate that special occassion in style treat yourself to dinner in Marlfield. Well done to all the team !

Went for a sublime 'library lunch' recently. What fantastic value! €20 for two courses chosen from a daily menu plus library menu. I had wild mushrooms on toast with a soft poached egg to start [fabulous!] followed by salmon served with fresh veg all perfectly cooked. We sat in the lovely conservatory, but others were being served lunch in the garden. Sparkling white tablecloths, freshly made breads and great service all completed a beautiful afternoon.
