Partridges Artisan Cafe & Fine Food Shop, Gorey

This centrally located daytime café is a buzzy place, popular with locals and visitors alike. It is located at the back of a speciality food shop selling artisan foods from Ireland and beyond, and there will be plenty to tempt you on your way in and out - ingredients used in the café are on sale in the shop, which is useful for picking up a picnic. The menu features simple, unpretentious dishes that allow the high quality of the ingredients to take pride of place - enjoy, amongst other treats, good soups served with freshly home-baked bread, unusual pasta dishes, tasty savoury tarts, flavoursome salads, an excellent farmhouse cheese and oatcake plate, and an enticing selection of home-baked cakes and tarts. There is a coffee menu and a short “by the glass” wine list. It does get busy (especially at lunchtime), but service is friendly and willing. Good value considering the high quality of the food.

Always enjoy visiting this restaurant. Food excellent but service can let the restaurant down. They seem to be forgetful and need reminding. I would ask that the tables are cleaned with a light cleaner rather than a wipe of a cloth, especially the menus on the tables which are sticky!!

Hello, just a note about our awful experience in Partridges Artisan Cafe in Gorey. We found that in making an order for 2 vegetarian sandwiches (choice they don't have on the menu but they have sandwiches for not vegetarians) we were told that they were too busy and unless we were ordering something on the menu (all the other choices for vegetarians are main meals) they had no time. We gathered then that they prefer us to leave...of course this was implied. Well as a business person they are the worst. Poor bistro they are too busy to make a sandwich ...what a complaint you have in this time of recession! Me and my wife don't recommend this place for sure to no one. Very bad manners and rude... not a good experience!

Myself & my husband visited this restaurant upon recommendation on Friday night and it was by far the worst meal WE have both had in our lives. Our starter of brioche was soggy and not at all tasty but we stayed silent and looked forward to our mains. We both ordered the shank of lamb and were so dreadfully disappointed. It was overcooked, way over seasoned with rosemary and was unedible. We called the waitress who got quite smart with us and when we showed her the veg "swimming" in butter, she was quick to say that was what was normal. There were 4 ladies beside us who were clearly unhappy with their meals also and even sent back their strawberries as they were again "swimming" in balsamic vinegar and the ladies could not eat them. As a lover of seasoned foods and a lover of lamb, this meal was the worst I have had in a long long time.
