I had heard about Aldridge House for the past 2 years from family who have holiday homes in Fethard. So couldn't wait to eat there. I arrived to the warmest welcome I had ever had in any restaurant. There was an open fire. My SILs were greeted by name. My handbag was admired. Our drink orders were taken immediately and back to us within 2 minutes. The ambiance was serene and calm but warm. I had expected olde worlde judging but the name but it is very modern. I was a little bit disappointed that being a vegetarian I could only choose from one starter and one main course. I had the goats cheese salad to start and it was just perfection. The cheese was really light and fluffy and the salad and onion marmalade worked really well with it. Teh bread was pure heaven, soda farls and brown bread, we asked could we bring some home and they had it ready for us with our bill. The main for me was the only slight let-down. I had the risotto with duck egg and my problem was that the rice was too "al dente". For dessert myself and SIL had the platter for 2 and boy were we glad. It was amazing, almost an entire portion of every dessert - there would have been enough for the 4 of us on the platter. I can recommend the Eton Mess - we both decided that was the nicest. We had 2 bottles of prosecco and they brought a jug of creme de cassis to go with it. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble. It worked out at €72 per head. Not bad for such service, ambiance and food. I will definitely be back!

WOW, €40 for a meal that any restaurant would of been envious of. Superb. Definatly will go again. I'd recommend it to EVERYONE. The staff are welcoming, the hostess is very engaging, and will give great advice for different wines. And the whole experience has placed this resturant at the top of my places to eat in Ireland. Book early, cause I'd imagine they are booked out very quickly
