We are Feargal and Fiona O'Donnell and we have lived in Glasson for 13 years, with our two young children. Feargal has extensive experience in the hospitality industry having worked in London, Belfast and Dublin, finally settling in the picturesque village of Glasson.

What better setting to start your own business, than in the beautiful village of the roses, which is renowned for good food, good golf, fishing, and boating and a place to meet great characters.

The Fatted Calf 4.5 star review: Six of us dined here for lunch and it was fabulous. My better half and I had dined here on 2 previous occassions and really enjoyed it. Lunch was enjoyed by all in our group - no complaints apart from the desserts not being the same standard as the starters or main courses. But we will all definately be back again

The Fatted Calf 5.0 star review: We popped in here for lunch as we were staying in a local hotel. Unfortunately we were booked in at the hotel for dinner later on that evening so could only have a light meal in The Fatted Calf. We were seated by a lovely waitress. The menu looks amazing and has lots of choice. We settled on the pulled pork terrine and a roast beef sandwich which comes served with either chips or the soup of the day and also . We nibbled on some lovely breads while we waited. The pork was succulent and tasty and the beef was nice and rare. The tomato and red pepper soup was also delicious. We would have liked to have come back the next day but as it was Mother's Day they were fully booked up which was no surprise. Our bill including 2 cokes came to €24. Such a pity we don't live closer but if we ever find ourselves in Glasson again we will be sure to returm.

The Fatted Calf 4.0 star review: very good, restaurant food in pub setting. I had black pudding with mushrooms in marrow bones, then rabbit with orzo. Rabbit could have been a little pinker, but I didn't specify medium. Herself had a beetroot risotto for main, loved it, start was good, can't remember what it was. Excellent breads, dips, 4 premium bottles of beer, about E80, excellent value for the quality, recommended. Nice outside beer garden, in a lovely village. This is the kind of place that needs support, honest, good value, good cooking, go and try.

The Fatted Calf 4.5 star review: Excellent food. Best meal I've had in recent memory. I had roast pork - unbelievably good. Also tasted the burger - excellent. Ordered sides of red cabbage - soft and delicious. And onion rings - I've had better.
Tried three of the desserts. Pear frangipane was not very nice but I also tried the fruit crumble which was perfect. Served with ice cream (bread flavour?) and that too was great. The other dessert I tried was the chocolate brownie. It was gooey and devilishly good. It was served with cream but having tasted the icecream that came with the crumble, we ordered icecream to go with it instead (for no extra cost). Best dessert ever when combined with the icecream.
Service was good,
Atmosphere is cosy pub, but food is presented and tastes like fine dining.
Will go back and recommend to everyone

The Fatted Calf 4.0 star review: Had dinner with a grop here on Sat night. Menu was ok, being a vegetarian there was only one option, and not a brilliant one at that. Good selection of fish on the menu, good selection of wine, breads were fab. Dessert menu was fine. The others in my group would return but if your a vegetarian it does not have a great selection. Overall service was good, prices were ok and atmosphere was ok.

The Fatted Calf 5.0 star review: This has very quickly become my favourite restaurant. I have been 4 times now and have always really enjoyed, it's just what a gastropub should be. The food is really tasty without being too 'cheffy'. the menu is very interesting and the portiond generous. Good value too. The staff are lovely and the home made bread..... Love the chowder, burgers, blas, everything really. I am actually driving there on Sunday from Dublin just for lunch.
