I have been trying to visit this restaurant for a while after great reviews from different people and finally made it. There was a group of 8 of us and we were the last customers of the night but you wouldn't have known it. There was no rushing us out the door so the staff could go home. The evening was relaxed and the food was amazing. Everything I tasted (had a little sample from everyones plates) was delicious and the set menu had a great deal to choose from. I will definitely be returning here time and time again, can't fault it

I booked Thyme after looking at there menu online before we visited athlone on Saturday, It's great to see a restaurant this busy in the times were in but this is fully deserved as the food was great. The space is a little cramped and the bathroom is down a narrow little stairs but the staff were nice although very very busy, Over all we left with smiles and full belly's which is always good, The next time we visit Athlone we will be heading straight to Thyme for there pork belly.

I asked for recommendations as to where to eat in Athlone on Twitter, and Thyme was mentioned a few times. We didn't have a booking, but the staff found us a table even though the restaurant was quite busy. Menu is quite varied with a good mix of contemporary and traditional dishes and the wine list, while not extensive has something that should suit everyone! We shared a starter and ordered lamb and steak - both were done to perfection. The atmosphere was nice, warm and cosy and the staff were very helpful - there was one dark-haired waitress in particular whose friendly manner was a breath of fresh air. In addition Thyme run a value menu (comprised of courses from the main a carte menu) - €20 for 2 courses or €25 for three which is good value - they seem to do this 7 nights a week though just as an early bird at weekends. Would definitely recommend this as a nice place to start your night - follow it with a pint in Gertie Brown's across the road and you're onto a winner.
