Kin Khao Thai Restaurant 4.5 star review: Ate here with my boyfriend Saturday night on a weekend away in Athlone. Very good food, has the mixed starter for two, check out the fresh spring rolls, yummmm. I had the steamed checken curry, the house speciality , it was lovely although was surprised to find that the chicken was of a meatball consistency. I would have preferred not but that is just personal taste.My boyfriend had the duck with was huge and he loved it. I finished with the sticky rice pudding, amazing but heavy. All in all a very nice meal. it's not cheap though. no change from 100 for meal for two with one bottle of wine ( House white, v nice ) Two gripes, we were seated in the upper level of the restaurant beside a lovely window with some stained glass in it. When you looked out the window you were looking at a flat roof that had rubbish strewn over it. Off putting and easily remedied with some fake ikea foliage.Also only toilets downstairs and meant that you have to walk through the take away waiting area which takes from the experience somewhat. Especially considering the prices. Would return.

Kin Khao Thai Restaurant 5.0 star review: My husband and I visited Kin Khao based on the reviews I had read on Menupages, and am happy to say we were not disappointed. The food was delicious, portions were ample, service was very efficient and friendly and the atmosphere and surroundings were delightful and charming. The early bird menu is super value. We would definitely dine here again if we ever return to Athlone.

Kin Khao Thai Restaurant 5.0 star review: Excellent restaurant. Theres always a great atmosphere. I went with a group from work was a little bit apprehensive as I dont eat Thai but I found lots on the menu to try! Delicious food but I wouldnt say cheap. But all in all good value for what you get!

Kin Khao Thai Restaurant 5.0 star review: Was a late decision to eat in the Kin Khao Thai restaurant for my sister's 50th, and they were very accomodating at such short notice. They were heavily booked for the evening but said they could squeeze us in for an early bird @ 5.30pm. Food was excellent, staff were efficient & price were just right for our budget. Fabulous all round !! We'd certainly recommend it to all of our friends & family.

Kin Khao Thai Restaurant 5.0 star review: This is my favourite restaurant in Athlone. There's always a great atmosphere and if you like Thai food, you will really love this place. (and there are plenty of dishes for people who don't like spicy food) I have eaten here as part of a couple and as part of large groups and I've never been disappointed. Top marks for everything except value; it's definitely pricey. (Although the takeaway and early bird are great value!!)

Kin Khao Thai Restaurant 2.0 star review: In a word AWFUL! Food OK. Staff RUDE. Except one waiter!
My family, arrived at 6pm on Sat to find a table we had booked in advance was set incorrectly, we being a party of 10(8 and 2 children, 6pm booking so as not to disturb other diners). We asked for a highchair, arrived with no tray, some people like this, but I feel unsafe, as it gives access to cutlery, glasses and essentially hot food! (This was in fact proved correct!!). The family proceeded to order, a mix of early bird (EB) (as this appeared good value) and full menu orders. I tried to order some plain chicken no sauce for my son; I was told this may not be possible! As all dishes are prepared!!! This was never confirmed, however my son got no chicken and I no explanation. Please note in the Kin Khao EB means 1 portions not in fact eating earlier! I think this should have been specified on the menu. This would not have been so bad! Only it was very obvious when dishes arrived. Made more so as the diligent staff in fact then switched around plates from person to person depending on menu ordered e.g 4 skewers swapped for 3 as an EB eater!
My Mother found to her detriment not to try an order off menu! Mum asked if she could have a main course of chicken satay, a reasonable request? Response, a gruff “Is there nothing on the main course menu you would eat!” No offer of a recommendation, the waiter then brought her 2 starters of chicken stay skewers! Fine! But they were so over done she could bang them off the plate!! This dish was changed with a big huff and puff; it arrived later with no warm rice. My brother’s EB prawn dish came with 5 small prawns! for his €3 extra! He was told EB dishes are 1 portions! However once he complained he was accommodated! This is were my meal ended due to a hungry child, who was not catered for, but did in fact get a very hot and small early bird curry placed on front of him. I decided to save the diners from his cries of pain & leave. The family finished up, not impressed, also very shocked when asked if they enjoyed the meal!

Kin Khao Thai Restaurant 4.0 star review: Visiting Athlone for the night myself and the good lady wife ate here after a pleasant drink in Seans Bar nearby. Like places recently visited I am glad to say Kin Khao is coeliac friendly and I enjoyed a Gluten Free Ale with the meal. We tried both the green and red curries agreeing the red was superb.The starters were good, ice creams a little bland other than the mango. With one meal on early bird menu and one al la carte food was consistant and the early bird is great value.
