We visited the Athlone Springs which turned out to be quite a nice hotel. In the package we had a three course meal. I got melon to start, roast as main and a medley for dessert. To be honest I wasnt impressed with the menu. The only choice i had for main course was the Roast which was Beef and no better than a Carvery. I had thought that the food would be of a better quality. Food was either stuffed with black pudding or rubarb. I wont be going back.

Stayed in the hotel and had a 3 course meal included. I had Brie Cheese to start and Fillet of Chicken Stuffed with Chorizo for main both were beautiful and my partner had Chicken & Forest Mushroom Bouchee starter and the fillet start. The steak was amazing, very tender. And apple crumble to finish off. The food was lovely and more than ample. All the staff were really nice and helpful. However the kitchen lost our ticket and we had to wait a long time or our mains. It was thankfully worth the wait. They had a piano, which I think created a lovely atmosphere.

My self and my family (8adults and 2 children) I stayed at the hotel for the weekend and our stay included dinner on 1 night. We had the had a variety of starters ranging from Chicken & Mushroom Bouchee - in Flaky Pastry with a Tarragon & Chardonnay Cream Sauce, which I had personally steered away from thinking it was just going to be your average vol au vont, however having eaten my mothers it proved to be much more! Also ordered by the group was the smoked salmon, the chowder and the soup nothing was a disappointment! Next for main course we ordered a range from the Rib eye, the lamb which was beautiful however we all agreed that the Chicken chorizo was the beat main dish. In conclusion the food was excellent especially considering it was part of a weekend deal. The staff are wonderful very accommodating especially with children. My 13th month old son particularly enjoyed both is soup and his chicken and potatoes.
