From the inviting exterior of this charming inn to the warm welcom from our hostess and the suberb food prepared by the chef our experience at Pastis Bistro was delightful. Although the main menu was attractive, we opted for the specials that are daily written on the board in the bar and we were not disappointed. I had pate to start and I received a generous portion served with a basket of freshly baked french bread. The pate was served with an onion confit and was delicious. An additionjal basket of the nice crust bread was provided by an attentive waitress who noticed I still had pate but no bread left. My partner had mussles steamed in white wine and they were fresh and plump. Average price of starters €12. For the main course both my partner and I shared a dish of cassoulet served in true French bistro style with a hefty helpoing of duck and saussage - in fact we were unable to finish the dish. cost €25 each and well worth it. For dessert we had creme brulee which was smooth and creamy - lovely end to a lovely meal. Total bill including a bottle of wine €€115 and I will be back - hopefully next time to sit out in the garden, weather permitting.

On a beautiful sunny afternoon in west Waterford, my husband and I visited this wonderful Gallic Inn, and if first impressions were what we would have rated this restaurant on it would have got a 6 star rating, however this was not to be. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress, whose knowledge of both menu and wine list was impeccable, we were both salivating at the thought of what was to come. Alas we were left disapointed, both starters were very good, a warm pear and goats cheese salad and a duck starter, this was followed by a main of steak and frittes, which was good, I myself had the Monkfish, which was cooked lovely, but the size of the portion, which had i got for a starter, i would have thought was small, and at a cost of €27.00 i was extremly annoyed, the deserts were amaturish, mine was warm berries, with merangue and ice cream, this consisted of a soup of berries with broken merangue thrown on top, it was what a child would prepare, my husbands apple tart, was ok the best thing about it was the caramel ice cream. at a total price of €127.00 and with tip €140.00 we will not alas be returning. If this restaurant were to match its front of house and quality of food it would be a winner.
