Mitchel House 4.0 star review: I went here with my friends for a Christmas dinner. The food was lovely bar the desert I didn't like it, but I was full anyway by that point it didn't matter! Lovely staff and a decent fixed menu for a good price

Mitchel House 4.0 star review: Spent the weekend in Thurles and ate here on Saturday Night. The Food was delicious and an ok choice available. The Crab Claws were really good and the Monkfish was good too, sauce a little on the salty side.

Overall a pleasant experience and would recommend a visit and would not hesitate in returning.

Mitchel House 4.0 star review: Ate here with a large group of friends and overall the concensus was very good. I enjoyed a black pudding starter which was very tasty. For main I had an excellent steak. The dessert I chose was a medley and it was mixed. The panna cotta was very rubbery but the crumble was very nice. The value was quiet good at around 30 for three courses, and portion sizes were fine. The service was very good, attentive but not intrusive. Our group was 12 and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. The interior and atmosphere was very nice. Would recommend.

Mitchel House 4.0 star review: Really enjoy coming here for dinner. There is always a very nice, busy atmosphere about the place. The staff are very good and the owner who is always present is very pleasant and courteous. The food has always been good when we've been there. I have just one or two bugbears from the last visit which I am going to mention - didn't think songs such as the Irish Rover were condusive to the experience, more suitable dining music e.g. instrumental/jazz/piano music CD should be selected instead. The staff are very good but I don't like being referred to as 'love' by one particular staff member, "thanks Love", soooo annoying. The menus could be wiped/shined up on the inside. Finally, the spelling mistakes on the menu - there are one or two - plus Baileys is written twice on the menu but differently both times, it should be Baileys. Some people might think these are silly observations but they are important. All in all, it won't stop me coming as I really enjoy the restaurant and its food.

Lamb Cutlets with Garlic, Lemon and Paprika

Why not make up a large quantity of this marinade in advance – it is wonderful with cutlets and would also work well with leg steaks or loin chops. The longer you marinate the meat for, the better the flavour!
