Fiacri House 3.0 star review: The food is absolutely amazing here, I had the Lamb and haven't tasted anything like that in a quite while. I didn't hear one complaint in relation to food throughout the meal from our group of 6. The quality was absolutely excellent and there was plenty to go around. The Dessert plate to finish is simply beautiful, a perfect assortment of all the delights on offer.I'm still not convinced about the layout in this place, first time I was here (celtic tiger times) there was traffic all around the table and this time we were put beside the toilet door. It feels like a 'community hall' to be honest. The atmsophere was affected also by the low temperature, although our location probably had something to do with it.The bar staff incl. owner were very polite and we felt very comfortable with them. They welcomed us well and dealt with all requests. The Table service staff weren't that impressive though and it felt as if we were at a wedding the way they dished out the food. They need to be more professional. All in all I loved the food but €53 plus supplements for most nice meats is excessive in the current environment. The food deserves a higher price than normal but the entire package doesn't. One really doesn't have to pay that anywhere these days for a good meal. We have been there twice, first time in 2010 and now in 2012, the menu hasn't change apart from the soup of the day. Would I go back, yes, but only when the prices are reduced and a slight update to the menu would be great too.

Fiacri House 5.0 star review: Was here with a group of friends my first visit but a most memorable one. On arrival we were greeted by a nice young man and seated in the lounge where we ordered drinks. The choice from the menu was so vast it was hard for me to make up my mind. All of the breads were homemeade and the dishes were all so freshly cooked.Desserts were massive service was very attentive and enjoyable. I will certainly be back but I will need to starve for a month beforehand.

Fiacri House 5.0 star review: Our favourite restaurant in the country for authentic, mouthwatering home cooking - from the wide selection of starters to the same for so many scrumptious desserts. The owner is a recipient of a Féile Bia National award and traceability is to the fore. As one who have attended the chefs popular cookery classes I know she sources most of her fruit, veg and herbs from her own garden. We love the ambience, the warmth of decor, comfort of the surroundings, the Irish welcome and smiling, attentive staff who will go that extra mile to ensure that your experience will be a culinary delight. To find a negative is difficult - trying to choose from the variety of main courses; having to fast 12hrs in advance to find room for large portions - a delight if in the company of hungry, hard working men! You are assured of getting the best value for money and I've no hesitation in giving it the highest rating possible. In these days of recession there's no skimping here.

Fiacri House 3.0 star review: The last time we dined in Fiacri around 2 years ago, we were very dissappointed with the service overall. We had ordered rare steak which was presented to us well done, wine arrived after the soup course, long wait for mains... We decided to give it another go on Saturday night. The level of service was much improved with most of the service staff very friendly and competent. One waitress, however, whilst clearing our starter plates, piled them up in front of me before removing the stack from the table - a small complaint, however when paying €55 per head for dinner, you expect more! My partner ordered rare duck (he was asked how he'd like it cooked at time of ordering), however it arrived well done. As per other reviews, the portions were quite large, I personally would prefer better quality rather than quantity. Overall I enjoyed my meal but would love to see Fiacri introduce other menu options, In these recessionary times it would be nice to have the option of ordering from an al a carte menu.

Fiacri House 5.0 star review: I would have to disagree with the previous review. We had a recent vist there and had such an enjoyable experience. The food was absolutely superb. I had the black pudding also with such tasty caramelized apple, done to perfection. Yes I do agree the portion sizes can be on the larger size than most restaurants but I think this is the attraction. Our party of 6 did not leave much on the plates. It is such good quality, the standard of food and the portion sizes, that I do feel you really get what you pay for. The mains were to die for. All cooked to perfection as ordered. The only complaint I would have is there is such choice on the menu, they all seem delicious and it is so hard to pick. The service was excellent. Atmosphere as always warm, friendly and relaxing. Top notch, well done! We will be back.

Fiacri House 3.0 star review: I was really disappointed with a recent visit here. Overall the atmosphere and service was good but it was let down badly by the quality of the food.

To start with portion sizes are way too big. The caesar salad starter is a main course portion. Also the main courses were huge. Nobody was able to finish all their food and there was so much wasted food going back uneaten.

I had the Clonakilty black pudding starter which came with caramelised apple. The apple was more like babyfood as it was served as a huge dollop in the middle of the plate rather than well defined pieces of apple.

For mains I had the fillet of veal which was cooked to within an inch of its life. It was charred and all dried out.

Also, it wasn't cheap - at €55 for the food plus wine I would have expected much better. I've had 3 course meals in a Michelin starred restaurant for the same money - go figure!

Fiacri House 3.0 star review: It was a good few years since i was last here. Overall a little let down this time and had been really looking forward to it. Service was not great (a few first nighters i think) also The whole restaurant sat down at more or less the same time which meant there was a very big gap between the soup and main course of least 45 mins. They should stagger it. My seafood salad was a bit of a dissapointment - one skinny prawn/langoustine. The soup was really nice and main course fine. A hugh selection of desserts. My feelings were shared with the other 3 diners with me.
