Ate here last Friday & Saturday night as staying in the hotel (Rackett Hall) which is fab but unfortunately is let down big time by the food on offer - intended eating in the bar on Friday night & having a nice meal in the restaurant on Sat.as it was included in our package - but it seems the bar & restaurant menu are one & the same & a bit confused, not typical bar food & definitely not what you would expect on a menu in a country house hotel. Had burger & chips on Friday - the burger was lovely & tasty but the chips were anaemic - why can't theu leave them for another few minutes? husband had mini mixed grill which he enjoyed. The menu for our package on Saturday night was very boring so I asked if we could order from another menu and pay a supplement which the manager agreed to - I had deep fried brie which was reasonable enough but not very pleasing to the eye, a little more colour in the salad garnish would have made a huge difference, my husband had leek & potato soup which was fine - we both had steaks for mains but again the attention to detail was rather lacking - the steak was ok but it was served with more anaemic chips & onion rings that were very well cooked - the accompanying pepper sauce was a disaster more like bisto with a couple of peppercorns in it. Overall the hotel was fab but really think they need to vastly improve on the catering side of the business, we were given a voucher when checking out for a special offer within the next 6 months but I really don't think I would return because of the poor food quality & what seems to be a lack of interest in producing a decent menu

In my opinion I had the most disgusting meal here last Friday. The service was bad, the toilets dirty, the food was awful - truly inedible. We complained to the poor waiter who had the air of someone tired of complaints. I hope unsuspecting tourists don't stop for a meal here - in this day and age there is no excuse for such awful fare. How can a restaurant serve up such awful cod and chips/ homemade burger and chips? It was the worst meal I've had in 20 years.

Having read the review of this restaurant I was a little nervous stopping at this place but my fears were changed as I noticed that they have new signs up saying under new management. I was informed that it has been under new management since May 09 and the carvery that was once served all day was now gone and that they offer a full Al‘ carte menu. I must say they offered me a great meal with value for money. I will stop here again on my way back and forth from Dublin to Limerick.
