Sligo City Hotel 4.5 star review: The bar was pretty much empty when we walked in; seeing the great value evening menu that they had, we were a little worried about the quality of the food we were about to order. I plumped for the safe option and went for the chicken curry, while my friend had the lasagne. Both dishes were like a nostalgic walk down memory lane when we used to stop in random pubs on the way down the country and get these huge portions of the most basic food that was full of flavour and made you want to stuff yourself. Full dish of currey and rice with a side dish of chunky chips. Not this fancy blob of this here and 'cream' of this there, and it was the old fashioned dark brown curry sauce, none of this new fangled Thai style. Not the classiest place in the world but the friendly service and great prices are enough to make me want to re-visit again.
