Cheese, Onion & Sage Tart
Ingredients
- 390g chopped onions
- 1 tablespoon grated mature cheddar
- 3 tablespoons grated parmesan
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage plus 8 fresh sage leaves
- 150ml double cream
- 2 eggs
- salt and white pepper
Method
- Preheat oven to gas mark 5 or 200’C.
- Roll out pastry and press down into greased baking dish.
- Heat olive oil in pan and once hot, sauté onions until soft and transparent, then remove from heat.
- Put onions on top of your pastry in the dish and spread out evenly.
- Meanwhile whisk eggs and cream together in a jug, add the cheddar, 2 spoons of the parmesan, the chopped sage and some seasoning.
- Give everything a really good mix.
- Now pour filling mix on top of the onions.
- Arrange sage leaves on top and scatter rest of parmesan on top.
- Place dish into oven and turn down heat to 180’C and cook tart for 35-40 mins or until tart is goldenand puffy and the centre feels firm.
- Leave to cool for 10 mins before serving.
