Cheese, Onion & Sage Tart

Cheese, Onion & Sage Tart




Ingredients

  • 390g chopped onions
  • 1 tablespoon grated mature cheddar
  • 3 tablespoons grated parmesan
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage plus 8 fresh sage leaves
  • 150ml double cream
  • 2 eggs
  • salt and white pepper

Method

  1. Preheat oven to gas mark 5 or 200’C.
  2. Roll out pastry and press down into greased baking dish.
  3. Heat olive oil in pan and once hot, sauté onions until soft and transparent, then remove from heat.
  4. Put onions on top of your pastry in the dish and spread out evenly.
  5. Meanwhile whisk eggs and cream together in a jug, add the cheddar, 2 spoons of the parmesan, the chopped sage and some seasoning.
  6. Give everything a really good mix.
  7. Now pour filling mix on top of the onions.
  8. Arrange sage leaves on top and scatter rest of parmesan on top.
  9. Place dish into oven and turn down heat to 180’C and cook tart for 35-40 mins or until tart is goldenand puffy and the centre feels firm.
  10. Leave to cool for 10 mins before serving.
