Ingredients

  • 170g Butter, at room temp.
  • 170g sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 170g Ground almonds

Method

  1. Pre-heat oven to 170C (155C for fan ovens)
  2. Place chocolate in a heat proof bowl and melt slowly over a saucepan of barely simmering water or in the microwave
  3. Cream the butter and sugar together
  4. Beat the eggs and gradually add them to the butter mixture, beating well between each addition. Fold in the almonds followed by the melted chocolate.
  5. Pour into the cake tin and bake for about 40 minutes. Cake is done when moist crumbs stick to a skewer in the centre of the cake.
  6. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before turning out on a rack to cool fully.
  7. When fully cooled, dust with icing sugar and serve.
